As the lives of Kareem and Andre Bezel unfold we experience the adventures, dangers and successes of their chosen paths. Each brother ventures into the criminal world as they chase the easy and fast dollar while marinating in the successes that it brings. There are so many characters that impact their everyday lives as well as their illegal dealings that it can make one think twice about people that we deal with everyday.
I commend Mr. Brooks on his first novel that is a thoroughly written story full of details and descriptions that make the reader feel like he/she is right there witnessing these activities as they unfold. This would make a very good, fast paced movie that I would truly enjoy. Looking forward to this one continuing....(less)

One fought it every step of the way and the other one had to relearn it. This author takes us the roller-coastered, battleground journey with Summer and Nick and by the book's end you have been on an extremely emotional ride. I LOVED THIS STORY....by the end that is. But during it I found myself disgusted, angry, frustrated and tense as these character developed and blossomed. That said, this book ended up taking me on a roller coaster emotionally and at points I did not have appreciate the characteristics of the these two people but it is real and does exist and thus I appreciated it immensely. Well done Mrs. Victoria Wells, well done.
Nick is the type of man that does not believe in commitment and fights to stay that way. Summer falls in love with him early on and as the story unfolds, she has extreme choices to make based on that love and what she knows of the man. You have to appreciate where her fears came from as well as his anger....YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LIKE IT, BUT IT WAS REAL and for that this author gets kudos from me as she told it you were there in the middle of it, experiencing it. Both of these character grew in this book as they started being honest with their feelings and and fears. Because of that, this is a good book that gets you engaged while evoking a sundry of emotions in you that sometimes allows you to inflict your own emotions/fellings into the story. However, if you allow the story to unfold as told, by journey's end you will not throw it across the room again....as I did several times when I incorporated/projected my own feelings into the story. I read it last week and since that time have told others of this story and they have brought this book as well. Can't wait for her next one!! (less)

Freeman is a titillating, straight forward, hard hitting, informative drama the gives us a raw account of a person's actions that entails and affects many lives. This is s fictional story of a man that finds out he is H.I.V. positive he becomes a living hell for many. He makes the choice to infect any and every woman that he can, and does. As one reads this book, they can see these characters as if they were right before them and this becomes real.
This book is well written, very informative and should be a must read as we all can learn from it. You can see the time and effort that went into providing the reader with information in a complete story that is awesomely told and definitely timely. I recommend this conversational piece of work that should be digested, discussed openly and honestly with any sexually active person and/or one that is considering engaging in sex. Mr. Freeman tackles a subject that many don't want to at a time when HIV and AIDS are on the steady rise, we all should be at the forefront of this as this author. Kudos to Mr. Freeman, for a timely story that evokes emotion, engages you as it parts knowledge. (less)

Being an avid reader I wanted to open up my selections so I read this one just because I was asked to. I am glad I did. This book is filled with hard knocks, the street life, pains, hurts, wants, power and humor. I could "see" it as I read it.
Mr. Robbins did an exceptional job of telling some gritty, hard stories of people growing up in Elizabeth, New Jersey in an engagingly interesting and even funny manner. These are tales of people that do what they feel they have to do until you can do better; those choosing live the drug life and of those that want power are fast hitting, dangerous, drama filled and sad but there is triumph as well.
I enjoyed this book tremendously and am waiting on his next one.(less)
