Gateway is good. Really good. I enjoyed everything about this novel - the strong writing, the believable characters, the captivating plot and the subtle but sweet romance.
Garner has written an impressive debut. Her writing is quick and engaging and the plot has quite a few surprising twists. Like I completely didn't see that coming twists and I mean none of them. And that is a hard thing to find these days. I really got caught up in this enthralling and convincing world and finished it within 24 hours.
Gateway is not all paranormal. At the start of the book Ember wakes up in a hospital after an attempted suicide. So it does deal with some serious issues briefly adding some more emotional depth to the story but it isn't a depressing read. It is still more of action-packed, mysterious type of story.
The characters are well rounded and well written. Ember, the main character, struggles with being different. She has a genuine narrative making it easy to relate and connect with her. While Taren is an intriguing character. He is the type of guy that is the first one there if anybody needs anything. Just a great guy.
There is a touch of romance between Ember and Taren. They have plenty of tension that builds up nicely as the story goes. It definitely has you eagerly reading to see if these two will act on their attraction.
Overall, Gateway is a exceptional dark and appealing paranormal novel. I can't wait to read more of this world.(less)

Favourite Quote:"What do you think you are doing?" she asked. Luke smiled the first genuine smile she'd ever seen from him. He yanked her back to him. "I have no idea". And he kissed her with even more fervor than he had a few moments ago.
Elemental is part adventure, part love story, part supernatural and a whole lot of FUN. It wasn't a perfect read but I had a blast reading it and for me that is the most important thing.
Dominguez's writing is engaging. It was full of action and suspense and the pages just flew by. It is written from both Luke's and Eva's perspectives alternating each chapter and allowing us to get know both characters.
However there were times I found the story a little predictable and I wish it flowed a little more effortless but that been said it didn't stop me from enjoying it.
Eva and Luke are both terrific and entertaining characters. Eva is smart, strong, determined and the class valedictorian. While Luke is dangerous, protective, gorgeous (of course) and the guy at school that everyone avoids.
Their relationship starts from dislike, to tolerate, to like, to finally something more. I love watching it change. It's progression felt natural and they had great chemistry.
The ending wraps up nicely while never feeling rushed but at the same time leaves it open for more.
Overall Elemental was a pleasure to read. I will be definitely keeping an eye out to see what Tiffany Dominguez has install for us next.
Note: (view spoiler)[This book had a Luke I am your father moment. I couldn't help but laugh and think Star Wars. I still enjoyed it though (hide spoiler)].

The world was interesting and the characters were charming. However I had one problem. The writing and the plot seem to drag a lot. Like to the point where I was tempted to skim read parts. It's pacing was just off. But that being said I still enjoyed it and can't wait for the next instalment. (less)

Slice of Cherry is DIFFERENT. Did I like it? Yes. Did it scare the crap out of me? Yes? It twisted? YES!
The world of Portero is hands down the strangest the world I have ever read. The description of this world is amazing. Dia Reeves writing is fast moving, unpredictable and engrossing. However even though I did enjoy this, quite a few times I was thinking is Reeves crazy. For me, sometimes the scenes were a little too weird and gruesome. That might be because I am not the biggest fan of horror and can't even watch a scary movie without having nightmares for weeks. So I am warning you this book isn't for the faint at heart.
I did however love the characters Fancy and Kit. They are two sisters you wouldn't want to cross. Both original, interesting and a little bit wicked. Fancy though was my favourite, maybe because she wasn't as scary as Kit.
Overall, if you loved Bleeding Violets or are fan of horror or ever wanted to know what a killer or should I say killers are thinking, than I think you will love this.
Thank you to my friend Tina for sharing her copy with me. It was an intriguing read even if it scared me to death. ~grabs book out of freezer and runs to post this to Teccc~

This books was loads of fun. It kept me entertained with it’s witty characters, action packed plot and a budding romance.
The plot was fast paced and well written. It was a little bit predictable, so I thought. But Cabot through in a few unexpected surprises.
Suze is a character who isn’t afraid to kick some butt. She won’t take crap from anybody and will stick up for her friends. Jesse is a sweetie and a bit of a mysterious character. We haven‘t got his full story yet and it will be interesting to find out why as a ghost he is still hanging around. Suze and Jesse have some great chemistry even if they both won’t admit they have feelings for each other yet. But the most entertaining character is Doc (Suze 12 year old stepbrother who knows facts about everything). There is a scene in the book where he is giving his 16 year old brother a lecture in front of their parents about condoms and how effective they are. It had me laughing out loud and getting some very strange looks.
Overall, if you a looking for a book to brighten your day read this. You’ll find yourself smiling the whole way through!(less)

Sophie and the Wolf was a fun and cute short story. It had likeable characters (Sophie was a little bit quirky and I liked that) and nice flow to the writing. Of course because it was only 15 pages long it couldn't go into too much detail and I would have liked to known more about the characters.
Overall, it was a good short story. And if Vilate writes a book about this world I would be definitely give it a read.
