I didn't feel like I was more confused the more I read. Everything is presented in a clear and concise manner. Nothing is left unexplained. Other books I have read would start out simple and then venture off topic and the result would be more confusion and less comprehension. Within just a few pages of reading this book I knew that this was different. The author seems to have a knack for making this subject far less complicated for me and that made such a huge difference for me. I have very little experience when it comes to the subject of insurance and financial planning. I'm now faced with having to play catch up. I really appreciate getting information in such a direct and thorough manner that doesn't leave me feeling like a dummy. ...more

It is meant to be read daily although I cheated a bit and read quite a bit already. Prior to this, I’ve read several books and many stories about Catholic Saints so when I saw that this book was available to review on Blogging For Books I knew right away that I wanted to request it. This book makes for an easy to read daily look at people and events that helped shaped the Catholic Church in America. For example: Who knew that Catholic Missionaries had actually lived in Virginia 36 years before the English settled Jamestown? Not me and I was surprised to learn that and it so intrigued me that I researched a little more. That’s what reading this book has been like for me. It’s such an interesting collection of history and also helped me gain so much more understanding in regards to the sacrifices and the love for the Catholic Church. There are so many inspiring people and stories that are included in this book, some you may have heard of and many you probably haven’t.
I know that I'll enjoy this book for a long time and I'm doing my best to read it one day at a time like it was intended although sometimes I still cheat now and then and read ahead. What would I change about the book? The text throughout the book is rather plain but overall it's a wonderful book. ...more

The story starts out with a little girl that loves animals and dreams of someday being able to have a pet of her own. That in itself is something that I know most children could relate to and it's what I love about these books, they appeal to a wider audience of children because their curiosity is universal. The story really takes off when the little girl Sofia finds a stray cat and starts feeding it. Her parents decide that the cat should be taken to the veterinarian and from there the story becomes a wonderful lesson about animals, their habits, their health and what it takes to be able to care for them. I love the way this book addresses so many topics regarding all types of animals including dogs, cats, horses, birds, reptiles and wildlife. Kids will learn about how to become good pet owner as well as what makes a good veterinarian. Sofia is inspired by all that she has learned and discovers that she would like to be an animal doctor when she grows up. I'm totally delighted whenever a book interests and entertains my grandchildren as well as the books in the When I Grow Up Series have....more
