I went into it thinking that it was going to be a good book enjoyable, and just something fun to read. But it was so much more it had a great background to the story and really built a cool and interesting world. This book had action, adventure, mystery and a hint a future romance. It captivated me from the start and I couldn't wait to read more. This first book definitely laid the groundwork for some great plot points in future books and I can't wait to read more.

My only real complaint with this book was I thought everything went by so fast. The relationship built really fast and the ending came very abruptly. I know it was a cliffhanger and cliffhangers usually are very abrupt but this was like 'Wait that was the ending...huh?'. I will definitely continue with this series though and see where it goes.(less)

Stacia must journey to the Underworld and gain her immortality before her 18th birthday. The trick though is she isn't she when her birthday really is, when she was left as a baby there was no documentation so the doctors gave a guess as to when she was born. Stacia must discover her true birth date and gain her immortality before she misses the chance all together.
Standing in her way this book is a new character Nadia. She is as evil as Stacia has ever encountered and she is determined to stop Stacia from gaining her immortality at any cost because Stacia has a few things that Nadia wants.
This book was really all about Stacia's preparation for her journey into the Underworld, her actual journey into the Underworld, and her relationship with Finn and what his destiny truly is. I definitely liked this book, but it wasn't as exciting as the first. But this one left off with a few big cliffhangers that sound to be great plots for the next book and I can't wait to see what happens. (less)

Savannah, her father, and her father's pregnant girlfriend re-locate her senior year to a high end riding stable. It's the chance of a lifetime for her father and with an unexpected baby on the way the whole family needs these new jobs to work out.
Savannah has grown up around horses her entire life. She understands them in a way that she hasn't ever really understood people. So when she gets to this new stable she wants to start being an exercise rider so that she can save up and start building a career. What she didn't expect was for Jack Goodwin to ride up and question everything Savannah thought she once wanted. Where she once thought that being an exercise rider was her future, she now questions herself and begins to want more for herself.
That more includes Jack, but there are certain expectations that go along with being the rich stable owner-to-be and Jack might not be willing to risk all that for a girl he just met. He and Savannah have an instant connection, but a lifetime of being told certain things and being expected to meet the expectations of his parents is a lot of pressure for Jack to take in. He wants Savannah but knows there might be a cost and he is nervous to make that leap.
This was a fun, light entertaining book about a girl a boy and how meeting the right person can change everything you ever thought you wanted. I haven't read any of the other books in this series so this can definitely be read as a stand alone. I believe previous characters did show up in this book and were mentioned but not anything that was pivotal to the story.(less)

Thus Alex is born. Alexa and her twin brother are taken and put into the army. They are both part of the elite guard that protect the crown prince Damian. Alexa is the best fighter in the entire army, but it is getting harder and harder for her to conceal her true identity.
When an assassination attempt on the prince's life occurs it sets into motion a whole conspiracy that Alexa never saw coming. When the prince asks her to put her trust in him she must decide if the prince who she once believed to be spoiled and ignorant but has recently shown that perhaps she is not the only one concealing her true identity is worthy of her trust. Her entire world is shaken when she starts out on this new journey. Because everything in her kingdom is not what she was led to believe.
I liked Alexa in this book I thought she was an engaging character. I didn't love the love triangle that occurred between the prince and Rylan a friend who has been with Alexa since she joined the army. The triangle was there but it was fairly obvious who she would chose throughout the entire book and I kind of pitied the one she didn't chose.
This author definitely didn't hesitate on killing off many of the characters that are mentioned throughout the book. Some I understood had to have been killed off but some hit me hard and I was sad about. This book dealt with a lot of harsher topics that I wasn't expecting, but I understood that it was all part of the larger plot. I think this was an interesting story and I will see where future books will go. (less)

The very beginning of the book left me a little off kilter. At first I thought I had missed a book or something but nope it was just a lot of information that happened previously to the book starting. I enjoyed this book and will definitely see where it goes in the future. This book leaves off with a pretty heavy cliffhanger so if you don't like that I would suggest you wait to read this book until the next one comes out in January 2014.(less)

Jade just made me upset with this book continually changing her mind and being overly dramatic when it came to Garret. I will probably finish the series just to see what happens. (less)
