Overall there are worse places to be, but Anna has left behind a brother, a best friend, and a boy she is almost dating. When she goes go France she right away meets Mer, who immediately accepts her into her circle of friends. Two of them are dating (Josh and Rashmi) and then there is St. Clair. The gorgeous boy who Anna is instantly attracted to, and she's not alone. But St. Clair has a girlfriend who graduated the year before but is still in France. So he is off limits but the two quickly become best friends. I love that they develop a relationship as friends before anything else. It really helped build up the story and wasn't the cliche love at first site can't leave each other alone.
Throughout this book both St. Clair and Anna deal with their respective relationships with the other people in their lives and try to figure out who they really want to be with. When tragedy falls this group of friends it bring St. Clair and Anna even closer. But at the same time their intense feelings could drive each other away if left unsaid. This book as amazing, and I loved the interactions throughout the group. How Anna comes out of her shell and starts to enjoy France and it's with the help of her new friends that she does this. Merit is such a real character she has flaws, but we love her anyway. This book is all about the SHIFTERS! I was excited at the end of the last book when we found out the shifters were coming town. This book brought up a whole new set of betrayal, and politics and for once none of it was vampires. Merit and Ethan are now body guards to head of the Shifters Gabriel. Gabriel was such a love-able guy he was always joking with Merit, and really see that he doesn't look down on vampires.
This book was all about the shifters debate on whether to stay with the vampires and stand with them if things went bad with the humans, or to leave and go into seclusion and leave the vampires to fend for themselves again. There are many who want to leave and Gabriel says if that is the majority decision than that's what they'll do but you get the sense that he would rather stick it out, which is definitely what Ethan wants.
What I love about this book: 1) More Jeff! I absolutely love, love, love him he is goofy and cute. I get excited everytime he's around because he's just so darn adorable especially when he talks about his and Merits love.
2) Mallory and Merit's fight comes to a resolution one way or the other. I really didn't like the last book when it left their relationship up in the air saying we might not be friends when this is over. I was like be friends or don't i hate wishy washy!
3) More Ethan and Merit! I love these two..no matter how many times Ethan denies he actually does has feelings for Merit he always comes back. I love the build up for these two and hope if/when they get a relationship it will live up to it.
This book was amazing and the next book can't come soon enough! (less)

The story revolved around the lead character Alex. Alex is a grave witch, one of the rarest types of witches, and she runs her own P.I firm. She leaves in a world where all witches and fae are out in the open. Alex doesn't associate with her family ever since she finally left at 18, after years of being sent out way to a school for witches, Alex gets a call from her sister Casey. Casey is the one to ask Alex to investigate the death of the Governor. Alex figures it will be an easy job and decides to do it, she needs the money. But while she looks for the shade 'the imprint of death', not a ghost different things, she makes a startling discovery that kicks off the mystery aspect of this book.
Alex refuses to give up on what she found, and when the lead investigation detective Falin tells her to leave it alone. These two despite their disagreements are forced to rely on each other and work together. As you may have guessed they do build a slight romantic relationship, and I look forward to seeing where it will go in future books. I also would definitely like to see where her relationship with Death will go, yes Death (grim reaper), I felt that he was talked about more than he was actually in the book. Overall though the book was fast paced, and I couldn't wait to read what would happened next! (less)

The Book picks off directly where we left off in the last book with Mac in a state of extreme grief when her protector beast dies. You find out who that beast was right away, but I'm not going to give it away. I'm going to give the vaguest overview of the book because I really don't want to spoil anything. Mac then sets off on a journey to get the book at whatever cost so that she can make a new world where everything will be perfect for her. Loves one will still be there, and people she loves can have a better life.
One of the big questions that was raised in this book was what is Mac. She is not like all the other sidhe-seers, and now others are telling her the woman she thought was her mother Isla actually only had one daughter Alina. No one knows where Mac came from and she's starting to get a sneaking suspicion she might not be entirely good. There was lots of decisions for Mac to make in this book, she finally finds out who killed her sister but it isn't entirely a black and white situation. She wants to find the book to help those she loves but with quite a few prophecies over her head saying that she might destroy the world she is fearful of trying.
My favorite part of the book though was when we learned more about Barron's and the men he is with. We finally get the long awaited answers to them, though there are still some things I would like to know. Especially about his men they are all so different and they will not hesitate to kill Mac when everything is over because she knows too much. We also get a conclusion to the love triangle, I loved who was chosen and how it happened it was everything I had waited for. I absolutely loved this book it was an amazing finale to a series, and brought almost everything to a great ending. But who knows maybe one day we will get more of Mac which I would love because the end of the book says the end...for now!(less)
