I always loved how tough he was but how adorably cute he was when he was with Rachel. I was a little disappointed with this book though, I didn't really like the main character Sarah. I always pictured Garret with someone like him, a strong sense of justice. Don't get me wrong Sarah was a sweet and very kind and giving person but the fact that she didn't want to know what her brother was involved in made me mad. She loved him knowing that he probably wasn't the best guy but she never wanted to hear that conformation.
The story of this book was Garret was assigned to watch over Sarah who was the half-sister of a crime lord who had double crossed Garret in the past. Marcus had finally made a mistake by killing a man and having a witness, his half-sister. The CIA wanted to capitalize on it by using his as bait because they knew that he cared about Sarah. Garret and Sarah had an instant attraction but she was skittish and on the run because she knew she could be used against her brother, and she felt it was her fault because Marcus was protecting her when he killed the man. So Garret must protect Sarah from the CIA who want to use her, her brother, and a mysterious third party that is out to kill Sarah. All the while trying not to think about how he is going to be betraying her trust, when he is the first person she has trusted in a very long time.
I wish that we got to see more Rachel and Ethan in this book. I felt like they weren't in Sam's book very much, and they really weren't in this book too much either which disappointed me. We got to see more of Sam and Sophie's story though. I love the Kelley family and their family dynamic. They are great and are always entertaining to read about. You don't have to read the other two stories to enjoy this one, though I would definitely recommend it! (less)

But to Cam, Gabriel is the man that makes his life a living hell. Gabriel helped Cam get out of jail when he was 19 and Cam has been working for him ever since. Gabriel a CIA operative has Cam go on secret missions that are not sanction by the CIA. Cam is tired of having to go on these missions but knows that if he stops Gabriel will send him right back to jail.
When Cam learns that Gabriel has a daughter he figures its his best option to get close to this girl so he can use her as leverage against Gabriel. Problem is Gabriel has been kidnapped and to get him to talk his captures need his only weakness...his daughter. Cam becomes Skylar's unknowing protector, but after he meets her he discovers that he could never harm her and he actual starts to care for her. Skylar doesn't know who to trust, it has been drilled into her head everyday to not trust anybody but she needs someone to protect her and she thinks Cam is the perfect man for the job.
Cam and Sky build a convincing relationship that as built out of stress and fear but was real none the less. Cam was reluctant with his emotions and he had many bottled up over the years. He hates many things and wants to hate Skylar but he can't seem to resist her. Skylar just seems to have terrible luck, her mom dies young, she gets kidney failure at 18, and now assassins are after here and she has no one to trust. She was strong in the face of all this and was a great lead. Also throughout the book there were smaller plots going on with the side character. You could see a sequel forming throughout the story and I really enjoyed getting to see more from the side-characters including their lives and perspectives and what led them all to working together. It was a great read and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. (less)

She was stalked and nearly killed when she was eleven years old. After that debacle she was put into hiding and lived with a new family. When she grew up she got engaged and brought the boy home to meet her family. She found her fiancee sleeping with her sister the next night. Now she has become a witness to a attempted murder of an FBI agent by two wanted criminals who are known to do anything to keep their witnesses silent.
The night the Sean (FBI agent) was shot Ellie was running the track after a long shift at the hospital. She is a described as being gorgeous, and extremely talented surgeon. She see's the couple fleeing from the FBI agent and witnesses the agent being shot but she knows that she didn't see either of them clear enough to identify. After operating on the agent Ellie meets Max. Another FBI agent assigned to the case and he has come to get her statement. There is an instant attraction between the two of them. But Ellie knows she can't get attached because Max lives very far away. After not being able to pick out either of the culprits Ellie is free to go and she believes everything is over.
That is until Max shows up at her family's house saying that she might be in danger. Ellie is home because she is being forced to attend the wedding of her sister and her ex-fiancee. Max has now become her plus one, and with this chance to see him again will she take a chance with him and not have the regret of never being with him like she did before? And will Max be able to protect Ellie from these criminals that may want to hurt her and her stalker Evan at the same time?
I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was extremely well written and had all range of emotions throughout the book. Ellie was an amazing character she was so strong and honest with her feelings. Even after everything that had happened to her she was brave and determined to find a away to not let Evan rule her decisions anymore. Max was also an amazing character. I found him to be extremely funny which was unexpected. He was very naive about his feelings for Ellie and you could tell he had no idea about what to do about it, it was very amusing seeing him discover exactly how much he cared about her.
I also like the side story of Annie one of Ellie's sister. She was so nice and I really wanted everything to work out for her. On the other hand Ava Ellie's other sister I wanted nothing to work out for. She was selfish and very self-absorbed, I really wanted something terrible to happen to her like being left at the altar. She was just a terrible human being. I enjoyed Ellie's father he was funny with all of his "deals" that he found. The supporting characters really helped make the story, they provided insight into the main characters and really helped some plot lines develop. I will definitely start reading more of Julie Garwood in the future!(less)

The back of this book indicates Arlan a vampire is asked to help protect a girl that his fellow vampire Fia is trying to get information from. Macy is connected to the "Buried Alive Killer" and Fia wants to know what she knows. The back then indicates that Arlan has a strong reaction to seeing Macy and that they two of them will be the main characters throughout this book. While that was somewhat the case it wasn't the whole truth. Arlan is in love with Fia, he has been for over a 100 years, but Fia has a human boyfriend and says that she doesn't love Arlan that way.
When Macy comes into the picture there is a strong attraction between the two. But Macy doesn't get close to people because of what's buried in her past. She has been running from the Buried Alive Killer for 15 years and has learned to not make connections to people. She starts to care about Arlan though and she doesn't know what to do about that.
Fia was in this book a great deal because she was helping to solve the Buried Alive Killing I did not like her at all. I found her rude and abrasive. She pushed Macy all the time to reveal things that she was not ready to. Macy knew she had to eventually discuss her entire relationship with the killer but Fia was never satisfied with what she got. Having not read the first book I was constantly thinking in my head "Thankgoodness Arlan isn't with her, Macy is way better even if she is emotionally damaged". She didn't seem to care at all that she was drifting away from Glen, and I felt she jerked Arlan around. She said she didn't want a relationship with him but she is who she would visit or call for help.
The ending was very abrupt and while it closed everything up it did not leave a satisfying ending between the characters. It was if all the action ended so the book ended too. This book was just very different than I had anticipated, while I'm sure others will love it it just wasn't for me. (less)

She is a driven young women out to prove that she can do anything a man can do, and maybe even do it better. Since she was born she has constantly been fighting the stigma of being a girl, her father always wanted a boy and drilled it into her that she was less because she was female. She has just received her first assignment and she happens to be partnered with a member of the Wilder Riders.
Spence takes one look at Shadoe and knows that she doesn't have what it takes to do this undercover assignment. Shadoe must pose as a stripper to infiltrate a strip club and identify a dirty agent who uses the club as a meeting place to sell drugs. Spence had a horrible background like all of the Wild Riders and when he looks at Shadoe he see's a princess in an ivory tower. He doesn't believe she is capable of loosening up, or that she has the sex appeal to preform this operation. But Spence soon learns that there is much more to Agent Shadoe than he previously thought. She is changing his every perception he had about her. As these two work closely they begin to find things in one another that they never believed possible, but with two people so driven for their jobs can they make it work between them.
I loved both main characters in this story. Spence was a complete Alpha male. He was possessive and territorial when it came to Shadoe, which was something he was unaccustomed to and did not like. Shadoe was always adapting and you could never tell her she can't do something. She gives everything she has when trying to accomplish something, and nothing dissuades her. I liked how both characters never had love in their lives and they both rejected it. Neither one wanted to care about the other so it made it all the more great when they refused to see that they had together. They were a great couple and I loved their story.
I would have really liked to actually see Spence's brother Trevor, I hold out hope for a short story or something.(less)

But all doesn't go according to plan when he see's another girl there who has been beaten and drugged, he takes her back with him unsure what he is going to do with her. Molly was kidnapped and held hostage for nine days. She doesn't know why she was taken but believes that someone paid the Mexicans to take her. So when she starts to recover she decides to hire Dare to protect her, and to help her figure out who wants her gone.
Dare has rescued many women, being a mercenary he has been hired to do all kinds of jobs. He knows what to expect from traumatized women but Molly is surprising him at every turn. She doesn't react or act like he expects, and he also finds himself drawn to her which has never happened with any of the other women in the past. He agrees to help Molly, though she believes she is paying him for her services he decides to do this because he is becoming emotionally invested in what happens to Molly. Dare never believed that marriage and love were in his future. He lives a hard life and never expected to want that to change at all. But when things start to grow deeper with Molly he starts to see possibilities but all that can be taken away if they don't find out who is hunting Molly and why.
I loved Dare, I thought he was an awesome Alpha-male. He was kind and compassionate and understanding to Molly in her time of need. When everything was crazy for her he was a constant always willing to help but not pushing. He understood what Molly needed and did everything he could to help her. It felt real when he started falling for Molly it was slow and gradual not instant in a cheesy way. He was a real guy and I loved his devotion to "his girls", I thought that was adorable and made me love him even more. Molly was a great female lead. Though I was surprised at how well she was able to compartmentalize what happened to her and look towards the future, too me that felt a little unrealistic. She had her vulnerable moments but I felt like she should have had a least one big meltdown of why me?! Overall it was a real entertaining story. I picked out who I thought would be responsible for all of the bad fortune to come Molly's way, right away it was still cool to see it unfold and the reasoning behind Molly's danger.(less)

While undercover Seth met Honor and from the moment he saw her he was drawn to her. Honor was in the beginning of her FBI career and she took a chance on Seth. She knew that he had a somewhat tarnished reputation and that he had so dirty associates but she thought that maybe he would change for her. They fell in love hard and fast, but when things in Seth's investigation started to pick up he chose to learn Honor in the dark about who and what he really did. He cut her out along with his family and started down a dark road that lasted years.
After years of hunting down missing children for the FBI and a near death experience Honor decides that she needs a change. That change comes in the form of Last Chance Rescue. Her first big operation is a possible string of missing girls from across the U.S. All of them are college students but that is all they really have in common at first glance. The main girl that is being investigated in this case is Kelly Cavanaugh, Seth's niece. Seth was the last one in his family to know that his niece had gone missing and when he can't find any leads on his own he knows he needs help. Last Chance Rescue was his best option but he never thought that he would see Honor there.
Seth and Honor must work together and figure out how and if these missing girls are connected and find Kelly before something terrible happens. I really liked both Honor and Seth they were great lead characters. The romance took awhile to develop and at times you just wanted to shake both characters and make them see sense. I really liked this book and it can be read as a stand alone in the series. (less)
