Erin has always been a cautious person whereas Zander has always been looking for the next adventure and has no fear. Zander's entire future has been mapped out since he was born, he has been born into an army family and he is ready to join in the family business. All that is derailed by one night where Zander felt he was betrayed by Erin and lost the future he had always planned.
Zander and Erin come face to face again when Zander's father passes away and Erin finds that she needs help that only her ex the Army Ranger can provide. Zander wants nothing to do with Erin but when he see's the fear in her eyes he knows that he can't turn her away. Erin never wanted anything but for Zander to answer a few of her questions. She didn't want him to find out what she was going to do, but when he insists on coming on her mission she knows that she must accept his help if she wants to get her mom back.
Erin's mom has never been an ideal mom. She's never been a consistent part of Erin's life. She normally blows in when she needs something with no thought to her daughter's well being. Now she has been abducted in Mexico with her boyfriend and has been ransomed and expects her daughter to pay it no questions asked. Despite being a terrible mom Erin will do anything she has to do to get her mom back even if it means taking Zander's help.
This emotional journey will reveal that neither Erin nor Zander truly realized who the other was that they were dating, but the feelings were real and they haven't gone away. When they stop looking back into the past and start seeing each other for who they are now things start heating up, but they can't lose focus because Erin's moms life stands in the balance.
This was a fun exciting book. I really liked how the events of the night the tore apart Zander and Erin was slowly doled out by memories from each characters point of view. Both characters had strong personalities and reasons for being who they are. I enjoyed reading their story and look forward to more from this author. ...more

Ian Dunn is in prison when Phoebe first meets him. She is his new attorney and is there to help broker a deal for him to be released from prison on the condition that he help save two abducted children who are being kept at a foreign consulate. But Ian is content right where he is and he has no desire to be set free. But when things are put into motion Ian must take on the task of rescuing these children while trying to keep his family safe.
Phoebe was a head strong, funny, and independent character. At times she was very much oblivious to the actual danger surrounding her, but she was never oblivious to her attraction to Ian. Ian is an intelligent, strong, and caring character whose dedication to his family is very endearing. He would do anything or sacrifice anything for his family because he believes that they deserve all the happiness they can get and his own happiness comes a distant second to that.
These characters were very similar towards each other but they were both what the other needed. Ian needed someone that would stand up to him when they didn't agree but who always cared about his safety when he would throw caution to the wind. Phoebe needed someone who would challenge her but would take care of her at any cost.
This was a fun, enjoyable summer read where you could just kick back and enjoy the ride that this book took you on. The secondary characters were great I especially loved Adam and Shelley. I am interested to see where Francine will go, because while at times I hated her you couldn't help but love the moments where she let her guard down. I look forward to more in this series. ...more

There is so much more to this book than the small blurb/teaser description of the book. Finn and Peyton officially met when Finn saved Peyton from drowning in her pool when she was a child. They were neighbors and had eight years separating them but from then on Finn was Peyton's hero. We flash forward to years later when Peyton is out of college and Finn works as an agent for the FBI.
Peyton gets a new job that she believes could be her dream job, but turns out to be her worst nightmare. She takes a personal assistant job as a starting out position at a widely known cooking/health magazine. Little does she know she was picked for this position solely by her looks. Peyton soon discovers that her boss is a sexual predator who must be stopped but she was no where to turn and feels everyone at the company is against her. When things escalate and her boss begins to become violent and aggressive towards her she knows that she must act quickly and then escape. She flees with damning evidence from her boss and runs away back home where she see's Finn again for the first time in years.
Finn is stunned to discover what a beautiful women Peyton has turned into and when he discovers the danger Peyton is now in he knows that he must step in as her protector once again. While home Peyton's uncle makes an offer to her and her sister's that they can't refuse. If they run one of his hotel properties for a year and make a profit it then they can keep it. To Peyton this has come at the perfect time and is exactly what she wants. But when Peyton's old boss won't let go and continues to threaten Peyton, Finn follows her and it isn't long before the attraction between the two spirals into more.
Peyton's new property comes with more difficulties and more danger when her manipulative cousins, and an over-eager developer both want their hands on her new business. Meanwhile Peyton and Finn are on two different levels and don't think of their relationship in the same context. While Peyton wants more Finn is running scared without even knowing it. Finn will do anything to protect Peyton but when she is put in a life threatening situation Finn is forced to face his feelings for her before he loses her, but Peyton may have already given up on him.
As you can tell there is a lot going on in this book, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Both the characters and side characters were all engaging and made you feel involved in their stories. I loved Finn and his story and past, I really enjoyed the fact that we got his POV throughout the book as well as Peyton's it definitely added to the story and helped you connect to him more fully. Peyton was a great strong character and I loved that she stood up for herself and for others. She put a stop to something that no one else had the courage to stand up for. I had previously a few books by Julie Garwood but I will definitely be adding more of her books to my To-Read pile. ...more

This was a fun quick read. Kylie is posing as her stripper twin sister after her sister breaks her ankle. They both need the money that Kylie's twin Stacey makes so Kylie is stuck playing a stripper for the next few months while her sister recoups. While working Kylie discovers the body of a badly beaten man and in enters our hero Trevor.
Trevor is a detective who has recently inherited a cold case when another case drops into his lap that connects the two. Two men have been beaten to death and their connection is Stacey. Both are loyal clients of Stacey's and Kylie who is now playing Stacey is smack dab in the middle of it. Trevor and Kylie are instantly attracted to one another but with Kylie hiding her real identity it makes it tough for them to fully connect. Trevor and Kylie must discover the identity of this killer before he turns his gaze towards Kylie and while doing this they both must overcome past fears and decided what they both want once and for all.
I really enjoyed both main characters. I thought both were kind and generous and funny. I thoroughly enjoyed Trevor I thought he was amazing he was always so understanding, thoughtful, and insightful into what Kylie was thinking and what she needed. One of my only complaints was that I would have liked to hear more about Kylie and Stacey's back-story and got a better feel for their life there and why they were so desperate to get away. I also would have liked more time with the supporting characters I didn't really feel a connection to any of them. I didn't enjoy Kylie's twin Stacey I felt she was pretty self-absorbed and constantly took advantage of her sister.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The epilogue especially made the ending of the book great. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun quick read, with a romantic edge to it. ...more

On the way hand the main character Digit was a quirky funny lead. I loved that she was a genius wanting to be a normal girl, and I liked the fact that she saw patterns in everything (I'm a big fan of the late TV show Numbers, Digit was very Charlie). But I really didn't like how she figured out the terrorist plot I thought everything after that was just very far fetched.
At times I actually thought to myself this is all just very hard to believe, so that I think took a lot out of the book for me. I would get drawn into the story and then something would happen and I would be like Really? So this was a fun quirky book, but I don't know if I would read anymore about this character....more
