Christina is married to the meanest, emotionally abusive man, Dicky. When he abruptly dies she's extremely relieved, but she must hide his death until her sisters can make a debut. Her sisters must make this debut because they need the money for their fathers gambling debts. When at the ball with her sister's Christina see's Dicky and almost faints.
Richard attends the same ball as Christina to confront his twin brother who has tried to steal his title, and life. But when he gets there he realizes that Dicky has married someone in his name, and that confuses his plans. He never planned on ruining an innocent girl. When he finds out that Dicky was killed he doesn't know if this wife did it, and if she may try again because now he is taking back his role and title and hoping no one will notice the difference including his wife.
These two main characters fit perfectly together even when they don't realize it. Their interactions with their friends and family, are great you can really tell how well these people know each other. The book was well written and definitely flowed throughout the book making me not want to stop reading. The book wasn't all romance though it had a mystery aspect of how did Dicky die? It was very Clue-esque, Who had done it? I absolutely loved this book and would recommend it to anyone. It definitely held my attention and kept it until I finished. ...more

Charlotte Chatsworth is the perfect lady. She says all the right things, and exudes a cool aura of confidence. Roman Merrick is co-leader of a hell gambling hall. He is one of the leaders of the underworld of London and has his fingers in all things. He has seen Charlotte from a far and when the opportunity to spend a night with her comes up he refuses to let any other man take it. Charlotte's father is often a patron of Roman's gambling halls and when another man wagers one night with Charlotte to a high amount of money Charlotte's drunk father accepts, but loses the bet to Roman.
From here starts a romance that neither saw coming. The one person Charlotte wants a future with she can't have because she would be disgraced from society and ruin any chances her sister has. Roman must protect Charlotte from the dangers of being involved with him and his world, but does that mean what's best for Charlotte is to be away from Roman?
This book was definitely well written. You could feel Charlotte's conflicting emotions on her duty to her family, and finally doing and obtaining something for herself. I really enjoyed this book because it built up the relationship it wasn't love at first sight, it was attraction at first sight, and then they got to know each other and then they fall in love. Anyone who likes period pieces would enjoy this book I would give it about 3.5 stars to 4 stars....more

One dJustine is not your average society woman, she grew up with her parents in Africa, her father was doing research and rating some liberal things. One day her father writes something so scandalous in the eyes of London that he is imprisoned for it. He writes that man can fall in love with man and woman can also fall in love with women. This is something that was not allowed then so while he is imprisoned Justine asks her fathers patron and long time crush Radcliff to help him get out of jail. Radcliff agrees but says that he would like to marry her, but she cannot see him before the wedding.
Justine is out-going and not like any of the other woman that Radcliff has met, he was always intrigued by her but never courted her because she would expect marriage. Marriage was not something Radcliff had ever really seen happening, he knew one day it would happen but never expected to find someone like Justine. It is obvious he cares for her although throughout the book he never really shows Justine these affections and when he does she misses it completely. I found that it took way too long for Radcliff and Justine even to figure out why Radcliff was a sex addict, and why he could not believe Justine when she said she loved him.
This book was very different than what I had expected. For one thing the male lead character the Duke Bradford, Radcliff was a sex addict. They continually referred to his addiction as his obsession, and that was unexpected. Also Justine's friend Matilda really made me angry. Radcliff continually helped her even when she was stupid enough to return to a bad situation, and yet at the end of the book she treated him horribly. I also found that it was far fetched for her to seek out Radcliff during the big incident that left him scarred. I don't think she ever really would have done that, but even after they were kind towards one another and then she was hostile. I really didn't care for her attitude. This book was an interesting take on the rakes of London at the time, and it was an enjoyable read. ...more

Laren cameAlex is the chief of his clan, a role he was never really suppose to have, and he and his wife Laren have been distant the last few years. Laren came from poverty and married Alex for love even though she knew she shouldn't have, she could never be the wife of a chief. Laren hated being in the spotlight and having the attention of others. After the clans strongehold is attacked and demolished Alex must rebuild his home and his marriage, because he has realized how far apart he and Laren have become. They used to love each other with such passion that he does not understand why she has become so distant, and what secrets she is keeping from him. Laren escapes everyday and Alex has no idea where she goes.
Laren has found a passion in glassblowing but she is fearful of telling Alex because she has been keeping this secret for so long that revealing it could damage their already strained marriage. Laren still loves Alex but so many things have changed and come between them she doesn't know if there is anything that can fix this marriage. Throughout this book each character has flashbacks to pivotal points in their relationship where things deteriorated. They each had their reasons from shying from the other person but the other person never knows they just believed they were pulling away.
This was a good story. It was very entertaining and enjoyable read. Some things that I did not particularly care for was Alex's attitude towards Laren's dislike for public speaking and leading. This was something he knew about when he married her, she didn't just suddenly become that way. Yet he chose to believe she would change and accept it, yet he never helped her or talked to her about it. That was just something that he expected her to do. On the other hand Laren never really did try. She knew what Alex would be when she married him and yet she never really tried to push her boundaries, or even discuss things that she had done to help the tribe. With the glassblowing no one knew how much she was helping they all thought she did nothing and she allowed them to believe that even though it hurt Alex's standing as chief.

Genevieve and Connor were in love when they were younger but Connor let Genevieve and broke her heart by marrying another woman she knew nothing about. Years later after Connor's wife has died and left him with his son who is a hell-raiser he calls Genevieve back to try and put his heart first this time not his duty. Immediately the attraction between the two is there. But Genevieve doesn't want to risk her heart again only to be let down. She does her best with Connor's son and actually begins making progress.
Connor is relentless in his pursuit of Genevieve and he will not give up, slowly as he begins to win back her affection trouble beings to chase after them. Someone doesn't want these two to be happy and they are willing to kill to make sure that it doesn't happen. This was definitely an intriguing story it had mystery as to the circumstances of Connor's wifes death, romance, and suspense waiting to see what would happen and who didn't want the happily ever after for these two. I liked how Genevieve was cautious and didn't just run back into Connor's arms. She wanted to protect herself and she stood up to Connor when no on else would which I also admired. This was a really good quick read and I enjoyed it. ...more

Alex was an amazing hero and I always enjoyed reading about him. Glynis was also an amazing character she had spunk and was not easily swayed which was great. Alex and Glynis shared an instant attraction but both agreed to be friends due to the fact that they both never wanted to marry. Alex had proclaimed all his life that he never wanted to marry, after having witnessed his parents own horrendous marriage Alex never wanted to go through that. Glynis had a disastrous first marriage which she left in very undiplomatic way. She has no desire to go through that again, though if her father has anything to say about it she will be wed as soon as possible.
To protect his clan Alex has been advised that he should take a wife. To help keep the peace he and a friend of his are both advised of this and at the top of the list that Alex's friends have made for him is Glynis. Glynis knows her father is trying to have her wed again and this time she won't stand around and wait for him to decide her fate, so when she sees Alex at the rebellion meeting and hears he is leaving she blackmails him into taking her to her mothers side of the family. On this trip is danger and romance as Glynis and Alex grow closer. But danger is right behind them at every step wanting to take away their newfound closeness and happiness.
I really liked this book and though I didn't read the first one in the series I will definitely be going back to read it and will read any future books. This was great and I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, and can't wait to read about the other two warrior friends that are still single!...more

Raeven is not the typical English lady, she knows how to fight better than most men, and she stands up and does what she believes to be right. She has spent almost her entire life at sea with her father the captain of an English ship. When she hears that Captain Cutlass is in the same dock as her she finds she can't let him escape what he has done. When Bastien is challenged by a young lad he tries to dissuade the boy but he is forced to fight the lad. The fight ends up being much more than he anticipated and when it is finally concluded he finds out he wasn't dueling a lad at all, but Raeven. When he first sees Raeven he is instantly attracted to her and finds that this women might be his match.
Raeven and Bastien were two amazing characters. They go on a whirlwing adventure of revenge and love. They come to see each other as much more than what the initially thought of one another. Feelings begin to grow but with Captain Cutlass being a rogue pirate and Raeven being a English captains daughter they will always be hunted. Mysterious pasts may hold a way for them to be together or it may drive them even further apart.
I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves historical romances. Both these characters have a rich past that clearly defines who they are. They grow throughout this story and their romance was exciting and believable. It was slow building but definitely worth the wait! I haven't read any other books by this author but I definitely will be in the future....more
