The Tool Belt defender is a story about Brittany and Alex. Brittany has just started coming out of her shell after surviving a horrible ordeal. She was kidnapped and trapped for months with a serial killer who would mentally torture her everyday. She is taking the first step into reclaiming her life and that step would be the construct of a patio that she dreamed about while in captivity. In comes Alex, he is the hunky good looking guy who just moved to town and he is the one going to build her patio. It is instant attraction for these two. Though both are adamant they are not in a place to be in or start a relationship. Alex has no desire to marry again, he was married once and she was not what he thought she was going to be. He has moved to this small town with his six year old daughter to start fresh and be a family. Brittany doesn't believe she is emotionally ready to be in a relationship or be a stepmother to Alex's little girl, especially when she is questioning her sanity.
Brittany starts to believe that she is being stalked again. She is seeing things that bring up memories about her kidnapping and she believes someone is doing this to her on purpose. Brittany's brothers just believe she is experiencing post traumatic stress and won't take her seriously. So she turns to Alex. Alex believes that Brittany believes she is being stalked but he doesn't know what to believe. Bringing someone into his and his daughters life who is unstable is a risk. But is it a bigger risk to ignore his growing feelings for Brittany and leave her to herself with the possibility that she isn't insane and someone is after her again.
This book was a great suspenseful novel. Brittany was a likeable character who had gone through a tough time and was handling things great. Alex was an amazing dedicated dad who you couldn't help but root for. The possibility of another abduction and serial killer was exciting and definitely put a strain on the relationship between the two main characters. It was an exciting and heartwarming story that really showed growth and healing for both the characters. My only complaint was I felt it was too short. These two went from I don't want to be in a relationship to deep feelings for each other within a short span of time. I definitely would have liked a little more suspense and build up of romance. But overall it was a very enjoyable story. ...more

New Girl was come in to the one main spot opened because the previous most popular girl at school has gone missing. Becca Normandy, she is everywhere our main character turns. She can't escape the comparisons between them and by the sounds of it she doesn't measure up. But when New Girl starts taking an interest Max the boy who everyone still thinks of as Becca's her life starts to get more and more interesting. It seems everyone has their own version of Becca, but no one knows exactly what happened to her. As New Girl starts to get more comfortable rumors of Becca being spotted start to come about and New Girl wonders if Becca comes back what will happen to her.
This book was very interesting. I thought it was kind of cool throughout the whole book you really didn't learn the main characters name til the very end. Also the whole mystery surrounding Becca was intriguing and kept me guessing. This book also was like two stories in one, because you got new girl's story and how things were progressing now, and you also got Becca's story about things went down before New Girl arrived. This was an interesting book and I will definitely read more by this author. ...more

Everything gets complicated pretty quick for these two with family members and each of their past relationships coming back to haunt them with their insecurities and doubts.
I really liked this story. I read it in a few hours an thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked how Missy changed and stood up for herself. She deserved better and wouldn't accept any less. Sebastien was also a great leading male, he started off as an overbearing boss who kind of sounded like a jerk with his being inconsiderate of how much he affected everyone around him. But you could tell that he genuinely didn't know the effect he had on his employees and he worked to change that in a small amount of time. This was a great story and I will definitely be reading more by this author. ...more

The fight ends up being much more than he anticipated and when it is finally concluded he finds out he wasn't dueling a lad at all, but Raeven. When he first sees Raeven he is instantly attracted to her and finds that this women might be his match.
Raeven and Bastien were two amazing characters. They go on a whirlwing adventure of revenge and love. They come to see each other as much more than what the initially thought of one another. Feelings begin to grow but with Captain Cutlass being a rogue pirate and Raeven being a English captains daughter they will always be hunted. Mysterious pasts may hold a way for them to be together or it may drive them even further apart.
I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves historical romances. Both these characters have a rich past that clearly defines who they are. They grow throughout this story and their romance was exciting and believable. It was slow building but definitely worth the wait! I haven't read any other books by this author but I definitely will be in the future....more

She felt that she was protecting them by leaving and now that she is healthy again she is ready for things to go back to normal. But things don't go exactly as Meg expected. She is being micro-managed at every turn and she is being treated with kid gloves. The only one who sometimes treats her like old times is her brothers best friend Clay, who also happens to be the man that Meg has had a crush on since she can remember.
When Clay sees back home he is both relieved to have her home and shocked at how she appears. After his father died of cancer and his mother abandoned them both while his dad was battling the cancer Clay doesn't trust easily. He doesn't want anyone to have the power to break him like his mom broke his dad. So when Meg comes back and he sees her struggling with putting herself out there he proposes they be each others date to his aunts wedding. So that way she won't have to face seeing the whole town for the first time after leaving by herself.
Meg wants to dazzle Clay and show him that she is still attractive and feminine even though she doesn't always feel it. She completely succeeds and Clay is stunned by her appearance. But what Meg didn't count on was this being the start to something that will forever change their friendship. Meg and Clay must both face issues that they don't want to or else they will miss out on what they both realize could be a really great thing between them.
While I admired Meg's character and her wanting to protect the people she cared about by leaving I didn't like that she did that and then complained when people Clay specifically would overact and not no the language of what her doctors were telling her. She didn't give her family the chance to be there for her, and she was too hard on them when they would be worried. I just didn't really connect with her character and while I felt that she did care about Clay she was constantly changing her mind about him.
I thought this was a nice story and it was definitely easy to get into and read, but I don't think I would re-read it. I honestly just felt the characters just went back and forth too much and were constantly trying to do what was better for other people not themselves....more
