This story is desperately in need of a good editor. It's a jumpy, all over the map, not sure what kind of book it wants to be other than the hot mess it truly is. It starts out fairly strong with our young Mara waking up from a coma to find that three of her friends are dead and that she is the lone survivor of a horrible accident. That's it. Right after that part the book took a nose dive.
There are elements of paranormal threaded throughout the story line but never quite stays on track. The romance portion of this story completely takes over and begins to feel a lot like Bella and Edward! Hot guy, new girl in school, blah, blah. the story stays closer to their budding romance for so long you begin to forget the other parts or what this story is about as it keeps drifting away. Once it veers back to the "mystery" portion of what abilities Mara has, you soon realize not only does it not make sense but she's just a nit about it. A pretty dislikable character especially the way she responds to each situation she comes upon. I seriously did not like this girl. I didn't get Noah at all. It's just too much all over itself and feels very forced. I won't be continuing the series. My best recommendation would be don't get sucked in my it's fabulous cover. ...more
