Because when the last time you read a book that actually delivered on exactly what it was supposed to and entertained you like this?? If you're still thinking back then I feel sorry for you. I loved this book. I am torn at this moment, whether I should read onto the next one or go back and clarify a few things. There's so much and I honestly can't stand the idea of there only being three parts to Lex's story. I need something else. A short story. A novella. SOMETHING, anything else. Ok, admitting fully right in this moment that I am spoiled. At times I thought that all the "extras" were just marketing fluff and if something interesting came out. Good. I can name you a few examples of the really great additions of extra content, look up everything by Lish McBride but overall it's more like... well let's not throw anyone under the bus... lol right, Fallen in Love, the last few Sookie Stackhouse novels - ALL the recent short stories and novellas, crap, all the recent stuff that Harris has put out. Oh and let us not forget the final - FINAL book not 13 but that other one due out later this year. Eff Harris and/or her publishers. Shame. Anyway... Let's dial that back. Most of the extra content is garbage and we eat it up anyway. Now I want some and we're not getting any here, I mean I want better than garbage I want a taste of the finest cuisine you can find on earth. The world of Croak deserves it. I wants it. I needs it now. Seriously, the third and last book was recently pushed back so give us something to keep us blissed out. Please, pretty please Ms. Damico, I'm begging you!(less)

Honestly at this point there isn't much new but there are fun moments with everyone we grown to know and love.
I really appropriated the tie in with the show cause it's parallels it without it being repetitive or monotonous. No time to pause and keep writing. If you're a fan you're gonna love this one. If you're not I have no idea why you're reading my words at all :-)(less)

It's a nice body snatchers theme and for some reason I kept thinking "Freaky Friday" in my head - even though it lasts for quite a bit longer that both movies in reality (and the pain and torture of the LL remake...)
That said I like this book, I really did, although because the premise required you to suspend so much that when it came round to the end I felt like it just didn't fit. I'm not saying it was predictable, I'm not saying it made me want to give up or anything, it just felt not right after everything Alex had been through. Good times honestly, there were definitely memorable moments in the book that brought a genuine smile to my face. Oddly there were these "guy" moments I just went with it. Also I really wasn't a fan of getting to know some of the characters and then not hearing from them ever again - don't introduce me to someone, start to like them, then leave them by the wayside forgotten. It's ridiculous. We all know a couple chapters ago everyone was doing an activity together, where did everyone go after that?
Overall though I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for some Sci-Fi in their readings, it does fit the bill. Also I appreciate how he doesn't joke about the premise. It's real to the characters so it's real to you as the reader. (less)

I can tell you that it starts off amazingly and somehow ends so poorly I can not even explain to you what happened. Genuinely I was excited to read this one and have enjoyed other Matheson books but this one not so much. Best of luck to you. Sadly I can not even remember the last few stories because it became so bogged down by the premise of this collection.(less)
