Auto buy!) then you'll be thrilled to know this might be a short story, but it's packed with her trade mark tongue in cheek humor, emanates emotion with every page, and was just an all around great read. This was a reread for me ~ I'd read it last year, but I totally enjoyed it again. Chloe & Scott decide they'll just have a holiday fling, but they just genuinely like and enjoy one another so much it was a pleasure to read and 'see' them falling. I loved Scott even more because he was that invisible, nerdy boy from high school who'd crused on popular Chole ~ and thought she'd remember him as such. She remembers him as that guy who'd once given her a dandelion when she'd had a bad day. Scott has a German Shephard, Kojack, who tags along w/ him everywhere ~ how are NOT going to love a man w/ a dog?
Just an all around Feel Good read ~ I was smiling when I was done at 5:30 am, WaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAyyy beyond my sleep time!(less)

This is the task Brody's brother's, Wyatt and Ethan, set before him. Since he and office manager Tori Lewis had shared a smoking hot kiss the year before at a Christmas party, everything had changed ~ what used to be fun ha/ha smart mouth had turned into straight up bitchiness towards all of them...and they were blaming HIM. And yeah, he'd known things had changed, and hadn't he tried to text, call, go by her place...but she'd just refused to talk to him? And he had NO idea why, as with with a kiss like that and woman like Tori he so wanted to pursue that line...
Tori had been in love with Brody since high school ~ but she also loved her job AND his family. His family had become like HER family, and NO way was she jeopardizing all that for reputed man whore Brody, no matter how crazy she was about him, no matter how much she missed their talks and jabs at one another...
This was such a FUN read! I loved that Brody was so freakin' clueless, and that Tori was just your everyday girl...just a great straight contemporary, feel good read celebrating family, friends to lovers and Christmas! Definent read!! I have to go back and read the other brother's stories as I somehow missed them...it's a great stand alone, but now I'm dying of curiosity!!(less)

So this week I'm in the mood for Christmas! So I'm breaking out some of my Christmas shorts ~ beginning w/ Katie Reus! This is from her Red Stone Security series, but it can totally be read alone as a short story. For this review I'm going to focus on Travis, our hero ~ because, well, I ADORED him! I'm such an Alpha kinda gal ~ and Travis has SO many Alpha traits. He's BIG, he's tattooed ALL over, he's PIERCED ladies (uh huh, I DO mean THERE!!) and he's all huggably protective over Noel. But as hawt & sexy as he is, he's gun shy ~ he's had his eye on our girl Noel for some time, visiting her coffee shop & chatting her up and just too damn shy to ask her out. He's had some bad breaks and while he's NOT a feel sorry for me kinda guy, he's very private & not open to relationships...but he's head over heels for Noel, and scared to his piercing she won't feel the same way when he asks her out. OMG, it's SO sexy and sweet & I LOVED it!
Katie Reus throws in a some suspense, and some AMAZING leading up to the act scenes...this is one you NEED to read, peeps! Totally got me in the mood...yeah, and for Christmas, too!! (less)

Larissa Ione, you crafty, talented, sneaky lady, you. You totally snuck up on me with Reseph. First, after reading the first 3 books in the Lords of Deliverance and witnessing the hell & havoc that Pestillence aka Reseph wreaked on not only the world, but his own friends and family? Yup, I had my doubts. I LOVE, love a great anti hero ~ give me bad ass who's a marshmallow on the inside for his heroine and family and a total Bad Ass MoFo for everyone else any day ~ but I didn't see that you could pull it off with Reseph. He went just TOO bad to be pulled back.
We start off Rogue Rider with Reseph having been flung back into the human realm from Sheoul, stripped of all his memories save his name. He doesn't remember the death and destruction he wrought as Pestillence, nor the family and friends he has as Respeh. When Jillian rescues him from the snow pile he's landed in, she's nervous about taking a complete stranger ~ especially one who is also a complete stranger to himself, as well. Jillian is scarred from a Demon attack she suffered during the chaos of Pestillence's reign, and she's retreated to her moutain cabin & solitude to heal and find peace. She's done a pretty good job of it, but she has a hard time trusting people, and most especially men...but there's something about Reseph that just calls to her, and his body? Yeah, that's singing all KINDS of tunes to her feminine side.
While Reseph can't remember everything, he DOES know that he can sense evil closing in around Jillian, and he's got to stay close to her to protect her ~ and he's drawn to her in a way he doesn't need his memories to know he's never been drawn to any other woman. She calls to him on every level, and she gives him a sense of peace of he knows he's never had. But the Demon disturbances happening close her cabin quickly draw the attention of The Aegis, and the newly formed DART, in the form of characters we've met come to love in previous books. It's quickly discovered that Reseph isn't dead like they'd all believed ~ and the time that Reseph has Jillian is growing shorter and shorter.
There was SO much packed into this book ~ Gah, I so don't want to spoil things for anyone, but I have to tell you how the first part of this book was about Reseph & Jillian. How they find each other, how they begin to heal one another, and how they start to love on another ~ the second half is how Reseph's family discovers he's till alive. I totally LOVE Larissa because of the real way she handles things ~ they didn't jump for joy because he was alive. They had reactions all over the board, but bottom line? They were REAL ~ and they had to struggle to sepearate the brother Reseph from the destructive entity known as Pestillence who'd become their for so long. He'd done so many terrible, hurtful and yes, unforgivable things to them and theirs ~ and while they, too, have the Seal and the bad side, THIS had been their reality. They had lived it. And unfortunately, so had Reseph. And he wants to destroy himself for what he'd wrought as Pestillence ~ but that very thing could yet release Pestillence on the world again. Can his love for Jillian be his salvation? Can they REALLY heal one another?
And oh, YEAH. There are some MAJOR revelations in this baby! And hints about what's to come in future books, which Larissa has told us will transition back into the Demonica world more fully. While we truly never left, we've been so fully submerged into the Apocolypse & The Horsemen that's had our full attention. I have to say that there are very few authors out there that have Larissa Ione's skills at world building ~ she's Amazingly skilled. She makes you feel it, smell it, hear it ~ you are IN her world when you're reading her books.
Amazing and thrilling end to the Lord of Deliverance! BRAVO!!
Reseph is an Anti Hero I'd love to have ride up and sweep me up any day!

When Alasdair proposes a trade ~ a night in his bed for the pearl, she hops on it. She's sponsoring a Foundling home, and is behind on the rent...she has no other choice, does? And of course, it doesn't help that she's very attracted to Mr. Alasdair Sharpe and he's yet to even realize she's alive...but he's realizing it now.
When Alasdair wakes the next morning to realize that not only is his thief gone, but so is his pearl, he drafts his two closest buddies, the other "Devils" and they begin to track down the unknown thief. It isn't long before he finds his Shakespeare quoting thief, and Alasdair truly begins to wonder about himself because he can NOT keep his hands off of her...or his thoughts.
This was really a great read! At first I wasn't sure ~ it took me a few chapters to get into it, and I still want to kick Alasdairs butt for being such an ass at times, but I love that he and Julianna were so drawn to one another. From the moment they met, it was apparent that this rogue was going DOWN. I loved that he seemed to grow up quite a bit during the story, with the help of his fellow Devils (and I can't wait to read their stories!) and began to see Julianna as the true treasure.
The passion between them is sizzling, and the love scenes will scroch you! I loved the whole cast of characters Samantha Kane brought on board with this one, and I'm anxious to see where she'll take us!

But the townsfolk aren't exactly putting out a welcome mat for the woman who once snubbed them in the media, despite her apologies now. Mitch Anders knows someone has set up camp on the grounds of his plant nursery, and he's surprised to find his sexy high school crush ducking questions about where she's staying. Though he's sworn to stop cleaning up other people's messes, Mitch offers Cassidy a job and a place to stay--his place. Bed-sharing optional, but definitely welcome. Out of options and too attracted to Mitch to keep things platonic, Cassidy says yes to his offer. She wants to get back on her feet financially and start a new career. She never expects to suffer a different kind of fall, one that has her believing Mitch just might bring her something bigger and better than luck.
Cassidy returns her hometown as the Prodigal daughter ~ or, as they've dubbed her, The Chosen One. She's as down on her luck as a girl can get, with her Mom having recently died, been swindled out of every last dime of her money, and no longer able to withstand the death defying climbs that made her famous. And now her step father won't even let her into her childhood home, and she can't figure out what is going on? What's a girl to do except tresspass and camp out on some wide open space? And, after all, she's helping out around Mitch's nursery, so it's like she's paying her room and board...isn't it?
It doesn't take Mitch long to realize that the still gorgeous Cassidy is the tresspasser on the nursery land...and as he's already decided he's going to stake a claim there, he's more than willing to head up that investigation...only he quite figure out what is going on with her. He doesn't listen to the town gossip, as he knows there's so much more to Cassidy than what they have to say...
Wow. This town was filled with some mean & nasty busy bodies ~ I so wouldn't want to live there! Even Mitch's besties bought into the gossip about Cassidy, which made me think less of them...I got that they had put her up on a pedestal and she'd falled pretty far when she'd dissed the town, but come ON...every single person save Mitch bought into it?
I liked the love story, it was sort of a soft, comfortable feeling of easing into it. This was a cute, short read...not sure that I'd want more in this setting as I wasn't a fan of the towns people at ALL, lol. Mitch is a hell of a guy ~ he not only saw Cassidy for what she truly is, he put up with all the crappola his buds were trying to dish up & serve about her & stayed friends with them. Not sure I could have. The side line story of the step father and the house ~ interesting, but short. I liked it, and would have liked to have delved a little deeper into that.
All in all it was a good contemporary read with a solid love story ~ but NOT a great small town read! : D
