It was not my intention to read the entire story in one sitting, I wanted to savor it, spread it out across a few days and make it last. Instead, I devoured it, gulped it down and didn't even stop to breathe.
How could I? I mean, this is the story of how Josiah Trenchard came to be! This explains where he came from and how he rose to be the grizzled warrior that we know him as from the past four books!
We don't get a whole lot of continuation or new reveals; This story, instead, is a prequel that is peppered with awesome little tidbits and tie-in's from all the previous books. The author shows off his superior story telling prowess, and teases us with how expertly he has planned out the entirety of the Fletcher universe. It was freaking awesome watching it all click together, and more or less seeing the origins of everything that was only hinted at before.
Fletcher doesn't let up once, from the opening scene it is an 'all systems go' joyride from start to finish! There are new characters for us to fall in love with, as well as the return of a cast that we already respect, admire, fear or hate. I laughed, I cringed, I white knuckled more than a few action scenes, and there was a time or two when I even felt my heart break a little.
If you are a fan of Fletcher and the past four books, than Belatu-Cadros is going to knock your socks off! Don't miss out on this one, and if you are anything at all like me, clear your schedule, you wont want to stop reading until you have made it all the way through to the end.
Jonathan Fletcher, I salute you. Thank you for another stomping good adventure! (less)

I'm no scientist...in fact my friends make fun of me because I am always telling them magic is way cooler than science. This book, this story, its very scientific and full of a lot of mumble jumble that I didn't really understand or grasp the full concept of. One would think that this would detract from the enjoyment of what was happening. On the contrary...it made it pretty freaking epic!! I couldn't tell what was BS and what was actually probable, to me it all seemed legit, so in turn, I ate it up like a fat kid on apple pie; All the 'sciency' stuff just made it seem all that much more real!
Mark Watney, is a heck of an astronaut! I'd like to meet him and shake his hand! The guy got shit on over and over again. For every good thing that happened to him, about 15 other horrible things clocked him in the ass to counter it. Still, through it all, Watney persevered and never once lost his sanity or will! I think that is what impressed me the most with this story. No mater how tough things get, human character can have the strength to see you through to the end - no mater what the end may bring!
This book was like birthday cake, and I may be 40 years old, but that doesn't mean that I didn't want to smear it all over my face as I shoved those words inside of me as fast as I could!!

From start to finish this book took everything that was great from the previous novels and dialed it up to eleven. Hands down, this is my favorite so far. You really begin to see how the tendrils of the story arc are interlinked and connecting everything together. While, like Fletchers previous stories, Onamuji is a self contained adventure, there are still so many things yet to be discovered.
So happy that I have stumbled across this series. I am blown away by how enjoyable they are, from the characters, the setting, professional writing, and non-stop action, there is nothing in them that I do not like.
My only regret is that now that I am caught up with the series, I have to wait around like all the other chumps for the next instalment.
I have no doubt, however, that it will be well worth the wait! (less)
