It is suspected that he was thrown over a bridge, landing by some unused railway tracks. The investigation takes Banks on a journey back into 70's, a time of political turmoil and unrest. It appears that there were a lot of people who knew the deceased back in their college days. Along with him, sifting through the suspects, are his colleagues, one of which is Annie Cabot. Twists and turns abound in the mystery and of course it is never who you suspect. This was the first DCI Banks book I have read, I did see the TV show DCI Banks of which I loved. Peter Robinson is an author that I intend to read more of. I recommend it highly.

A humorous look at a woman's fight back from the humiliations that she has suffered at the hands of her husband. With no money and a job she loathes, she moves in with her bestie and proceeds to get her life back on track. Along the way she comes across some sketchy characters, laughable situations and struggles that only she can realize the way out of. Can she recover and forgive past mistakes? Will she find what she is looking for?? You will have to read this funny, poignant book for yourself. A fresh storyline but not maudlin where the character keeps feeling sorry for herself. Stephanie pulls herself back on track and does it with humor. I loved this book and highly recommend it! I received a copy for review and was not monetarily compensated for my review.(less)

I love time travel books, it would be so cool I think to be able to go bsack in time. In this 5th book we watch the family grow and evolve from just Matthew, Alex and Ian to their growing family and friends. It is the time where the oldest children are ready to go out on their own to learn a trade or in the case of Jacob, to see the world. Things don't always go as planned. It is a hard life in a young country, with the threat of Indian attacks and old enemies that threaten their very existence. Even though this is a historical series, to me it is more character driven, where the reader gets into the lives and loves of these people rather than into the conflicts of the era. Alex is a strong woman who not only is protective, nurturing but she is fierce when her or her family is in danger. Matthew as patriarch of the family is the protector of all he holds dear and will do all that he can to keep everyone safe from harm. Will he succeed?? Guess I will have to read the next book and I highly recommend this series...
Thanks to the author and Historical Fiction Virtual Book Tours for my copy of the book, I was not compensated for my review.(less)

A woman is found not far from a man's house, unfortunately for him he knows the woman intimately. He just got out of prison and gets scared and does something that will haunt him. Moves the body. Another body is found and now there are numerous suspects and Detective Fleming is pressured to find the killer or killers. A lot of people in this small town are suspect and it is up to Detective Fleming and her team to figure out who and what the motive is.
This is a mystery series not to be missed. The author weaves a suspenseful tale of love, lust and lots of secrets that will have you wanting more. Not only are there lots of suspects to the murders but Marjory is in danger herself from vengeful people that are close to her in her work and private life. This is a novel that just keeps getting more mysterious as the pages turn. Never saw the ending coming. I love the author's style of writing and I will certainly read more of her work.
