This is a cute, humorous story of how Lio, a cupid, gets caught shooting illegal lust arrows at unsanctioned individuals by Ethan, an Aztec God who’s also working as a cupid. Lio only makes matters worse when he sticks Ethan with one of the lust arrows when he tries to prove a point. Unfortunately for Lio, the arrow has the opposite effect on Ethan than Lio thought and not only does he now have a horny God near him but now he’s facing feelings he never wanted to feel again.
Right from the blurb I knew this short story was going to be funny and I was right. Lio is a sassy gay cupid who is only a touch bitter about ‘true love’. He’s been burned in the past by lovers who have only used him to steal his powers and he’s not going to get burned again! Until Ethan shows up and shatters all the barriers Lio has against sleeping with his own kind. I loved that Lio was so quick to give a sarcastic or catty comment but I also liked that Ethan was able to banter back with him. Where Lio is fun and bitter, Ethan is dark and solemn but still believes in love. They are complete opposites.
I loved them together but readers should be aware that, while these two have a connection that they obviously act on, this isn’t exactly a romance in the general sense. Basically it is a one night stand with the possibility of something more in the future. Also, readers should be aware that this story includes a good amount of voyeurism and not only that but it is what ultimately leads Lio and Ethan to do what they end up doing.
While I liked that Lio forced Ethan to ‘come to the dark side’, I found that this really wasn’t my kind of story. As someone who doesn’t enjoy a lot of sex in the books I’m reading, I found this one to have way too much sex for my tastes. Not only are Lio and Ethan getting it on for half the story but before that, they’re watching another gay couple go at it too and for me, that was just too much. Not to mention, I felt like the story was very open-ended and left me with a ton of questions like why Ethan kept saying certain things and then never explained them.
In the end, this a cute story. I loved the beginning and I loved that there was such a good connection between the two but the story was too unfinished and had too much sex for my tastes. However, that is a personal preference so anyone looking for something short with a good amount of humor, a clever setting and some hot sex should totally give this one a try!(less)

I really, really liked this one. It’s almost like a fairy tale where the ugly duckling turns into a beautiful swan and two men – Ling and Prince Damarion – are so lonely their lives have been completely miserable. Now, they are both in positions that make their lives even more hellacious causing Ling to runaway and find employment in Prince Rion’s castle. From there they meet when no other servant wants to take Rion his meal and what eventually blossoms is not only a friendship but a love as well.
There’s something about this short little story that really gets to me. I just adored it and I loved both Ling and Rion. Where Ling has been hated for simply being the son of the Oracle, Rion has been hated for being the son of the False King. They are like two peas in a pod and completely understand each other because of what they’ve had to endure simply for being born they way they were. It’s sad but it’s also sweet the way they connect so easily. The story is about that connection but also about them finding out the truth and really understanding who they are inside. And let’s just say, they are both surprised in what they end up finding out by the end.
My only issues with this one is that, again, it is too short. I would have loved to see Ling and Rion while they got to know each other. So many conversations and pranks they played that was just told instead of shown. I missed out on that. Another thing is that six years have passed since events in The Oracle's Flame end and A LOT has happened such as how Prince Edan got the throne back. I was a little confused because we didn’t get to see that taking place in The Oracle's Flame nor in this book so I was a little disappointed we didn’t experience something that seemed so crucial.
All in all, this was still a good story. It’s sweet and a little sad but short enough that you could read it in under an hour. I really enjoyed it and I’m eagerly awaiting the next installment, The Oracle’s Golem!(less)

This little story was absolutely adorable! With the prospect of a new job, Phillip is all too eager to move to a new state to work in a town filled with all types of shifters. What Phillip didn’t expect, though, was the wolf shifter who just so happens to be his future sexy boss, Dr. Gunner Samuels. Phillip feels more than just lust when it comes to the hunky wolf and in an attempt to push the two together, Phillip’s best friend invites the boss over for a dinner that Phillip has to cook. There’s just two problems, Phillip doesn’t know how to cook… and he’s a vegetarian.
I loved that this story is filled with so many clever one-liners. It had me chuckling often because of the mix of humor and funny animal characteristics. As a wolf, Gunner can’t help but sniff Phillip and as a chipmunk, Phillip can’t help but hoard nuts and other foods. It was a good mix of cute and funny that kept a smile on my face throughout the story.
With those little attributes, I found the characters very endearing. I just loved Phillip’s stammering over talking to Gunner about anything not related to work but I also loved that Gunner found so much amusement in Phillip’s awkwardness. It’s… well, adorable. I’m not sure how else to describe it! It’s also very sweet the way that Gunner wants to cherish and care for Phillip.
While I enjoyed the story it was just too darn short! I loved the chemistry between Gunner and Phillip but I wished there had been more meat to the story to really give that connection some justice. As it is, I didn’t exactly feel the love that the characters claimed to have. There were also some moments that I would have loved to see instead of being told about.
All in all, an adorably funny story about a chipmunk and a wolf who just happen to work together. Add to that a vegetarian trying to make dinner for a wolf who craves meat and this story is bound to give you a few laughs. For those looking for something quick, funny and cute, give this one a try because it definitely fits the bill!(less)
