I felt really sorry for Gwen. I'm glad to hear that she will be in the next book...I hope she finds happiness.
The historical setting was really great too. It sucked that so many cattle died but that made the setting seem more realistic. So many books seem to want to make history seem like it was all great.

The story teaches that girls should not wait around for "Mr. Right" or "Prince Charming". You can be perfectly happy without them if you actually get out and LIVE your life.
I think most girls should read this about the time they start thinking about maybe getting married and living "happily ever after". It will help them know they don't have to wait to be happy later.(less)
