Therefore my review will be a bit limited.
Kira Solomon, a Shadowchaser, is given the task of finding the Vessel of Nun, to prevent first Egypt and then the rest of the world from drowning in a great flood, think Noah & his Ark.
The Vessel went missing at the same time as another Shadowchaser, and that is where the hunt starts. Khefar, a near immortal Nubian, has already died for her once and she definitely doesn't want it happening again, whereas Khefar doesn't mind, he will rise again with the sun. Together they face the Fallen, those that serve the dark, including some very nasty demons.
We go on a nice trip from Atlanta to London to Egypt and down the Nile and get served seamlessly with lots of Egyptian mythology along the way.
Not forgetting the Dream walks Kira has talking to Balm, the Head of the Gilead Commission on the Island where she grew up. We also learn Kira's history and exactly who her mother was, and possibly who her father is as well and why there is so much Shadow on her soul.

This book is one mess of Tangles. An emotional rollercoaster all the way through.
It isn't simply a case of boy wolf, Riaz, meets girl wolf Adria, and there's happiness all around. Nooooo, Riaz has already met his destined mate, a human, who is happily married to another human. So he is an emotional mess and comes home to the pack to try and deal with it.
Adria, on the other hand has also just come back to the pack to try and deal with her own baggage. A longterm relationship which failed, with a less dominant wolf.
This is one of the most intricate books in the series, we see just about everyone that has already had their own book and everyday pack life, together with a whole lot of Arrows and Kaleb and his quest. The Pure Psy and the Alliance also fill a large space as the Psy Civil War is about to erupt.
What I enjoyed most was the way Hawke & Siennna are growing into their mating, the giving and taking. Sienna gets to learn the way the pack works so she can help Hawke and show them she is one of them at the same time. What I enjoyed least was the Riaz/Adria show but I totally understand it.
Now I'm desperate to see what happens next with Alice, with the mysterious woman Kaleb is after and the coming War. (less)

This story is Talree's father Zarek, the Overlord of the Coletti Empire and Detja, the Farin thief.
Detja, a complicated female, also known as The Ghost, is on a mission to retrieve a medallion stolen from her friend, when she runs across Zarek, who has actually been looking for her.
Adnan, a shapeshifter, has been a father to Detja since her own parents were killed when she was little. They share a psychic bond and this is both a good & bad thing. Good in that he can save her if necessary and bad in that he eats people and now needs to go regenerate or he becomes a killing maching, so must sever their connection. He can't leave her all alone & picks Zarek to look after and bond with her.
She of course doesn't agree that she needs anyone and is particularly afraid of what will happen if she bonds to the most feared person in the galaxy.
Loved this latest addition to the Coletti world, and looking forward later this year to the newest - Vexing Voss. (less)

Alien Proliferation is all about the baby and how that affects Alpha Team and who is determined to get their hands on the "spawn", and why.
As Kitty has just had a baby, understandably Kitty is off active duty but that doesn't stop her being in the thick of the action, thinking is just as critical as karate kicks, though those come in handy as well.
Paris will never be the same after they are done with it.

No jarring and painful world building required.
Mercedes Thompson, half native american skinwalker coyote, german car mechanic and raised by the top werewolf pack is our heroine. She meets a young werewolf and discovers a mad plot of someone selling young werewolves for drug experimentation and things go downhill from there.
She contacts the local werewolf Alpha, Adam Hauptman and Bran, the Marrok, the top werewolf and the very next day, Mac the young werewolf is killed and left on her doorstep, Adam is nearly killed and his house half destroyed in the fight with a couple of unknown werewolves and Jesse, his human daughter is kidnapped.
It is up to Mercedes to save Adam, rescue Jesse and find out what is going on.
Just love this series, now I'll have to re-read the rest of the series, it was just so good.
Read 9 Jan 2010 A very enjoyable read. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to wile away a couple of hours on werewolves, skinwalkers and vampires. You'd almost believe they walk amongst us. (less)

I'd forgotten how much world-building was involved in this first of the series, probably because it is so well done. Whilst Kara, has "graduated" into a full summoner, there is still so much to learn plus she has to fill in FBI Special Agent Ryan Kristoff. So we get to learn along the way too.
The Symbol Man case is so caught up in the action that it was easy to miss the guilty party until it is sprung upon you at the end. I know I missed it and I've read it before. LOL. The characters are so interesting and so layered what with Demonic Lords, several kinds of demons and the police and FBI, with most of the humans knowing nothing of the Arcane or Demons. Good juggling on Kara's part.
Looking forward to re-reading the rest of the series in prep for #5

It has been about 2 years, in storyland, since we last saw Annwyl the Bloody and she has since had the demon twins. Talaith has also had her second daughter, though Izzy didn't even know she was pregnant as she has been out on patrol for 2 years learning to be a soldier.
The unlikely heroine of this episode is Keita, who has been assuming a guise of stupidity and uselessness. The better for her to gain the trust of her mother's, Queen Rhiannon, enemies, so she can extermiinate them.
Along comes Ragnor the Cunning, from the Northlands. He falls for the stupidity angle although not the charm, unlike all other males. He challenges Keita and he also intrigues her. He follows her and gradually realises all is not how it appears.
He decides he wants her for the next six or seven centuries but realises if he mentions that she will be running away very fast. He decides to keep her but not tell her that and it seems to work out just fine for him.
Meanwhile the war with the Irons and the Sovereigns grows ever closer.
Once again this author has provided some hilarious moments and a feeling like you really know these humans and dragons, normal things as well as extraordinary things are always happening but you don't feel rushed. Looking forward to the next instalment.(less)

(hide spoiler)] and Kate ends up with an attack poodle named Grendel.
........................................................................... 1st Read 7/4/11 Book #4 of Kate Daniels, and they keep getting better & better.
This one opens with Curran standing Kate up and 2 months of crabbiness by both of them over the huge misunderstanding. Neither of them seem to realise that the pack has interfered in their lives. When they do eventually meet up because of work, things still take time to work out, but we can see that they will eventually work out.
Kate's Aunt Erra, bringing with her the 7 plagues, comes to visit. Mighty battles are fought, injuries happen and Curran finally convinces Kate he is sincere.
Then pack politics happens following the big battle, and when Curran awakens following his coma, he isn't happy!

Pia a half breed, is alone in the world and has stupidly let it slip to her boyfriend, now her ex, she can slip past locks. He lets it out he can steal anything and blackmails Pia into stealing from Dragos Culebre. He is the most feared and respected of the Wyrkind.
Pia doesn't expect to survive the stealing but doesn't have any choice.
Dragos, discovers the theft and begins chasing Pia. Dragos's curiousity has been aroused and he alone wants to unravel the mystery that is Pia. Meanwhile Pia had been taught her whole life by her mother to keep in the background, never say anything to anyone about who she is or what she can do.

So once Dragos catches up to Pia and doesn't rend her, others step in and try to disrupt this fledging relationship. He gets poisoned, they have a car wreck, and get kidnapped by Goblins and taken to Other, where they face armies of Goblins and Dark Fae before escaping back to our world. Then the fun begins.
Really enjoyed this first in series book, already pre-ordered the rest of them. Well done, Thea Harrison!

Book #3 of Kate Daniels and I'm really loving this series.
One thing I hate IRL is fighting/wrestling, and extreme fighting - no way. Yet this book is based on that very thing.
Curran has a Pack Law that no shapeshifter is to participate or bet on the Midnight Games. The Midnight Games is a Tournament of extreme fighting teams of 7 individuals, fighting to the death in each round.
Jim, as head of security for the Pack, has heard disturbing rumours and wants information. His first spy is killed and he sends in Derek, without telling Curran. Derek gets into trouble and Kate gets involved.
Roland wants the Pack downsized as they are becoming too powerful and is using the Games to do that. Kate is the only chance they have.....

It was like a hyped up X Files episode from the Aliens perspective and not Mulder and Scullys.
Our intrepid heroine Katherine "Kitty" Katt is snarky, impulsive, clever and just darn good fun. We meet her as she takes out a monster who she later learns is an alien parasite infecting angry people. She calls them "fuglies".
Jef Martini, our alien hero, an empath, immediately falls in love with her, and seriously freaks her out.
The whole supporting cast of characters including the Kitty's Mossad, anti-terroist consultant mom and her dad the NASA cryptologist masquerading as a history professor are priceless.
Glad I've already got the next 2 in the series to read.

Her dad, Mircea, one of the head honchos of the Senate has a job for her. Find and re-imprison his brother Vlad ie Dracula, before he kills the rest of the family.
Dory is great, but she seems to get attacked a lot; still she survives all the ambushes fairly well. She doesn't want to do the job for her father but Claire, her roommate is missing and she has run out of leads.
Louis-Cesare, starts off as a arrogant snob but turns into a hunk with a heart. There is work to do on his tortured soul though, in the next books.
This is an extremely well written book by an experienced author and it certainly shows. Give me more Dory! Now!
