It was sorta like CH had a checklist of characters and had to come up with a plausible conclusion for them all.
I knew Sookie wouldn't end up with Eric or Bill, (she did want children eventually), but I was still disappointed with the lack of Ericness in this story, and Pam was almost non existent as well. Alcide popped up for his regulation 2 pages, so he was ticked off the list. Even Barry Bellboy made it to Sookie's place and got beaten up. Etc, etc.
The last couple of books have been setting up Sookie's final love interest so I wasn't surprised, but it certainly didn't have a dying devotion feel just a we'll suck it and see approach. Very disappointing.
All the good guys were doing well to different degrees and all the baddies met a final end. All nice and tidy.(less)

Luckily I have the next one from the library.
Sookie, is trying to live her life as best as she can, surrounded by fairy relatives, who have their own motives, vamps with their own agendas and the two natured having come out to the world and that isn't going so good. In fact Merlotte's Bar where she works is having a tough time, due to the two natured thing and Victor, Eric's boss, opening a Red Necked Bar not too far away.
Not to mention the looming threat of Sandra Pelt who has escaped custody and is crazily determined to kill Sookie.
Sookie enlists Amelia's help in breaking the Blood Bond and then Amelia can't resist in meddling in Sookie's love life AGAIN. Sookie isn't happy at all.
(view spoiler)[It was tough for her to come up with a plan to kill Victor, protect Hunter, worry about Sandra Pelt, help Sam, feel sorry for Pam and find out more about the Fairies all whilst planning the baby shower for Tara, but she managed it. Quinn has disappeared without a trace, Bob is still a cat, and Sookie ends up in Halleigh's wedding party as a substitute bridesmaid.
Bill seems intent on trying to win back Sookie, without any success whatsoever. And Eric somehow remembers all his lost memories of his time at Sookies, including the shower scene.
Just to add to the mix of Weres and Vampires, Sookie's long lost Great Granddaddy appears, and surprise, surprise he's Fae. And Claudine is a cousin of sorts, which is why she pops in to rescue Sookie frequently.
When Quinn turns up in the presence of bad vamps, he gets the flick from Sookie cause she just can't handle him not putting her first. Which is fair enough.
Amelia ends up inviting her mentor Octavia to stay, so Sookie's house is getting rather full, and she's not too happy about that.
We see a lot more of Sam, as well as seeing him turn into a lion to defend Sookie.
Whilst a lot of loose ends were cleaned up, new possibilities for the future appear, with both the Weres and Vamps offering huge favours, as well as her Great Granddaddy the Prince doing so as well.
So the Weres have decided to come out of the closet. And this is both good and bad. Most of the people in Bon Temps are cool with it. Obviously, Arlene and her friends from Fellowship of the Sun aren't. Also Sam's mother gets shot by her husband when she reveals she' a shapeshifter. Sam rushes to Texas to be by her bedside and leaves Sookie in charge of the bar.
The big mystery this time is who murdered Crystal and set her up as a Crucifixion in the parking lot of Merlotte's Bar. Whilst Sookie knows Jason isn't to blame she is still mad at him for setting her up in the last book.
Also Niall sends warnings of his enemies searching for Sookie. Thus we have a looming Fae War.
Sookie is kidnapped and tortured by the bad Fae and then the war heats up and quite a few deaths of both weres, vamps and fae occur.
Annoyingly the book ends abruptly on a cliffhanger. Luckily my library has the next one, just need to go get it.

Hadley, also a vampire had been the Queen's favourite until her predecessor who was jealous, murdered her.
The Queen is having problems with her newly crowned Vampire King, who has decided he wants it all so plans on starting a war.
Also Debbie Pelt's parents and sister are sure Sookie knows more than she is telling regarding Debbie's disappearance.
Bill and Eric also put in appearances and open their mouths a little too much for Sookie's peace of mind. On the plus side Sookie is now going out with Quinn, the weretiger who was in charge of the Packmaster challenge earlier in the series.
And finds a friend in Amelia the witch who was Hadley's landlord. (less)

Dead to the World sees Eric fall afoul of a group of witches and they curse him. He has amnesia and is found running along Sookie's road one night naked.
Sookie takes him home once she is satisfied that Eric isn't pulling a fast one and rings Pam to let her know about Eric and find out what's going on. Then the fun begins.
Bill goes to Peru on business. Jason goes missing. Fangtasia is attacked. Adabelle Yancy, #2 in the Shreveport were clan is murdered. Clancy the vampire is drained. The weres, vampires, good witches and shifters band together to fight the bad witches. Bill makes it back in time for the fight but it is Eric who keeps saving Sookie.
It remains to be seen what effect kind Eric will have long term on Sookie, even though he is now back to normal. (less)
