This book is definitely about the 2 MC's with the Pure Psy making their presence felt in the second half of the book.
I'm usually not enamoured with books focused solely on the couple with not much happening, but this is absolutely an exception. Ms Singh can write a grocery list and I'll buy it and love it.
(view spoiler)[Kaleb Krychek, Psy Councillor, dangerous TK, has one obsession - her name is Sahara Kyriakus.
Sahara is Faith's cousin and has been missing for 7 years. Kaleb has been searching the PsyNet for all of that time using both the NetMind and the DarkMind.
Both of them are severely traumatized by their childhoods, Kaleb was 3 when he was sold to a sadistic pyschopath Psy Councillor and Sahara was 16 when she was abducted by the same man. They had first met when Sahara was 7 and she was the only person on the planet to show him love, compassion and trust. She became his sanity.
The second half of the book encompasses the madness of Pure Psy creating disaster after disaster around the world and killing lots of humans, changelings but most of all Psy. In their twisted logic this was to push the Psy towards Silence but in fact had the opposite effect. Kaleb and the Arrows are seen again and again assisting in the rescues.
In the end Silence falls and Kaleb, the Arrows and Nikita & Anthony stand tall so that the PsyNet doesn't fall along with it. Just like Sahara asked Kaleb to do. (hide spoiler)]["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>(less)

Raphael and Elena aren't just hawt together, they care about each other on a very fundamental level. The intimacy between Raphael and Elena has certainly grown over the past several books. Several times Elena says to Raphael that she doesn't plan on going on if Raphael gets killed, just like Raphael said to her when he made her an Angel. Together they battle their own demons; fathers, mothers and the new powers that the Cascade is bringing to all the Archangels.
Elena is very quickly assuming the role of Consort, decades ahead of the usual timeframe. Possibly due to the Cascade, or maybe just because Elena used to be human and is coming from a different perspective.
The Cascade is giving each of the Archangels a different power, and some of them are aligning with Raphael and some with Lijuan. In New York Angels are falling from the sky and vampires getting sick and dying. NY is under attack and Raphael, Elena and the Seven are preparing to defend the Tower.
For those of you who were disappointed in the battle over Beijing, fear not for this is an epic battle, rivalling even Lord of the Rings.
So looking forward to the next great book in this series.

This book is one mess of Tangles. An emotional rollercoaster all the way through.
It isn't simply a case of boy wolf, Riaz, meets girl wolf Adria, and there's happiness all around. Nooooo, Riaz has already met his destined mate, a human, who is happily married to another human. So he is an emotional mess and comes home to the pack to try and deal with it.
Adria, on the other hand has also just come back to the pack to try and deal with her own baggage. A longterm relationship which failed, with a less dominant wolf.
This is one of the most intricate books in the series, we see just about everyone that has already had their own book and everyday pack life, together with a whole lot of Arrows and Kaleb and his quest. The Pure Psy and the Alliance also fill a large space as the Psy Civil War is about to erupt.
What I enjoyed most was the way Hawke & Siennna are growing into their mating, the giving and taking. Sienna gets to learn the way the pack works so she can help Hawke and show them she is one of them at the same time. What I enjoyed least was the Riaz/Adria show but I totally understand it.
Now I'm desperate to see what happens next with Alice, with the mysterious woman Kaleb is after and the coming War. (less)

What he finds is the typical court politics, hatreds, and an underlying cruelty to the Princess Mahiya, daughter of the Consort and Neha's twin sister Nirviti. She has been a pawn in their games; (view spoiler)[Neha/Nirviti/Eris (hide spoiler)] using her to hurt the other for the past 300 years.
It becomes more complicated when further murders happen without an obvious motive. Jason must unravel the mystery while keeping an grieving, enraged Archangel sane plus doing nothing to dishonour Raphael and keeping Mahiya safe.
Loved all the background on Jason, one of the more elusive of the Seven.
Now to wait another 12 months for the next book.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>(less)

Angel's Pawn Ashwini, a Hunter and Elena's friend and Janvier, a Cajun Vampire have been playing a game of tag when Ashwini is tasked to recover a vampire for the angel Nazarach. They join forces as Nazarach has a very, very nasty rep and Janvier doesn't want her going there by herself, plus he has connections.
Angel's Judgment How Sara became Director of the Nth American Guild and met Deacon, the Slayer, oh and baby hellhound Slayer as well.
Angel's Wolf Noel, one of Raphael's vampires who had previously been severely injured and Nimra, the Angel who holds the Louisiana territory for Raphael. Nimra has a problem and Raphael sends Noel. Meanwhile Noel assumes he has been sidelined following the attack and is not happy. Noel has felt nothing since the attack and is surprised to find himself noticing Nimra. Nimra finally tells Noel that someone has attempted to kill her using a specific poison and Noel assumes rightly that that is why he is there. To find the assassin.
Angel's Dance 400 years before Angels' Blood Galen, a warrior Angel, transfers in from Titus's territory to Raphaels. He is at The Refuge for the first time and sees and wants Jessamy, the school teacher/historian Angel with the damaged wing. This is the story of how Galen overcomes all Jessamy's fears and insecurities, and let's her dance with him in the clouds. (less)

We see the gradual insecurities of Sienna disappear even whilst she is aware her talent is becoming dangerous and out of control. She has no hesitation in confronting Hawke about his "so called mating bond with Rissa".
Walker and Lara's love was lovely to witness, as was the birth of Lucas & Sascha's baby.
The buildup of the tension preceding the Council war was well done and I am intrigued to know what will happen next. Will it really be civil war between the Councillors? Who is the Ghost? Which side will the Arrows fight for?

I myself never minded Dmitri's attitude to Elena.
Honour is a Hunter who was attacked by vampires playing a deadly game, orchestrated by a pycho.
Two years later and Dmitri's and Honour's paths cross and he is angry that all the vamps haven't been punished yet, so decides to take over the case.
Like all Nalini's books there is more than one plotline happening, but for me the most intriguing is Dimitri's past history.
I think Dmitri and Honour will be great together and I look forward to seeing all the girls get together in future books.(less)

Whisper of Sin by Nalini Singh is Ria's story. Ria, a human admin assistant to Lucas Hunter, alpha of Darkriver pack. She first comes to the attention of Darkriver enforcers, particularly Emmett, after being attacked in pack territory by a group of human thugs trying to oust the changelings. Writing as always is excellent.
Blood & Roses by Angela Knight is not a Mageverse story, but still includes Vampires and is set in some distant past. Quite good.
Shifting Sea by Virginia Kantra is a finfolk story. Morwenna, a finfolk woman meets Major John Harris on the beach, and decides to have him for some fun. Finfolk apparently don't really believe in love but as this is a romance book you just know her opinion will be changed by the end of the story. Predictable but good.
Last story is Here There Be Monsters by Meljean Brook. Haven't read anything by this author before and was pleasantly surprised. A steampunk book that was complicated and surprising. Pirates and bionic body parts. Quite good. (less)

Raphael, Archangel of New York and Elena Deveraux, vampire hunter & newly made Angel have finally returned to NY. Elena has learnt how to fly and is gaining strength but is still very vulnerable.
Strange happenings happen with vampires suddenly running amok, and the Guild stretched to the limit to bring them to heel. The weather has gone berserk, and earthquakes and tsunamis are peppering the planet. Raphael is also battling rage which is most unlike him. What could be causing it?
I'm not saying as it would be too spoilerish.
Now, my impressions of the book are generally positive. We see a domestic way-of-life which is refreshing, not running from action scene to action scene, but still conveying growth, and the mystery of what is happening. Not to mention Elena's father and his new family.

Tossing up between 4 and 5 stars. Went with 4, just cause.
Lt Indigo of the SnowDancer Wolves is very dominant, which makes it hard for her to find the right male.
Drew Kincaid is also dominant, but he hides how dominant and he is the pack's hunter/tracker of rogue wolves, he has also become their spy master. He loves Indy and has one hell of a fight on his hands to convince her they can mesh successfully.
We see lots of preparation for the coming Psy war and get sneaky glimpses of Sienna and Hawke. And the Ghost is looking like its Kaleb, but how can that be when later on he and the Ghost are at 2 separate places at the same time?
Looking forward to Hawke's book Kiss of Snow coming soon.(less)
