Although, Boyce had a shit upbringing, he took nothing for granted. "I'd had a superhero for a brother. I'd survived my dad, and whether he meant to or not, he'd taught me a skill and left me with the ability to make a living from it. All in all, I was a lucky son of a bitch."...more

Garrick and Bliss are going to London to meet his parents. Bliss is very worried about meeting his mother. Garrick tries to re-assure that everything will be ok.
In London, Bliss meets his two oldest friends first. Then they go Garrick's parents' home, where a surprise engagement party awaits them. And that's just the start. There is some more added un-needed drama. I wish the novella focused more on Garrick and his two friends, instead of the melodrama.
This novella is for hard-core fans of the series. You are not missing anything if you skip it.
Looking forward to the next full-length book, featuring Kelsey in October.

I requested it because I like the trapped together trope.
The cast of characters in this relatively short book was huge. There are a lot of covert agencies to keep track off along with the members of those organizations. Had it stayed on Thomas & Jo and Jason Grant, the GR rating would have been higher.
The suspense part of the plot was executed well. I had no clue who was out to get Thomas or what the motives were. I was trying to piece the puzzle together along with Thomas, Jo & the rest.
The romance fizzled for me. Yes, Thomas and Jo had a past together. There were still undercurrents there. But the romance seemed lost in the midst of the action.
Having said all that, I am intrigued by Jason Grant. I will look for his book. Hopefully, when I read it, I will remember who is whom.

Gregori is a successful multi-media artist. He's also very, very hot with his tattoos, nipple rings and beard. Wren, currently attending art school, is working hard to get her graphic novel published. Working as a bike messenger helps pays the bills. Wren has been delivering packages and paperwork for Gregori for a year now.
They have slowly developed a friendship in that year. She always makes her deliveries to him last so that they can chat about his work or her art school. He provides her with scrumptious treats and hot tea.
Underlining all that is a super-charged attraction. When they do finally have sex, it is scorching. It scares Gregori how amazing the sex is and how at ease it is to be with Wren. He's divorced and very wary of being in a relationship.
Wren is a fabulous, take-charge heroine. She sees that Gregori is skittish and scared but doesn't back down from what she wants and doesn't let Gregori push her aside. She shows him in every way that she's not like his ex-wife.
Although, this is a short read, I didn't feel like I was missing anything in the story. Wren and Gregori are great couple with a shared love of art. I believed in their HEA.

They have a meet cute which involves the heroine not knowing who the hero is. Ok, Michelle works in the same building as the CEO, Noah. It's her first week on the job. I get it that she's new, but surely there are photos of Noah in a hallway or two or in the employee manual.
Because I didn't buy into the premise, I also didn't buy into their romance. Michelle moved from a small town in Iowa to Chicago. I'm certain that she was excited to meet Noah so that she can have someone talk to talk to. Noah is excited to meet someone who is unaware of his money and status. It's the tired cliché. I just didn't feel the chemistry between them. Thus, when Michelle discovers who Noah is, I just didn't care or worry about the aftermath of his deception.

Kelli is 18 years and lives in an affluent Christian community called Sundale. She has a business to be her schoolmates' Friday Night alibis. Her alibi packages start out at $100. She has many clients because none of them want to lose access to their trust fund when they turn twenty-one. Her clients can do whatever they choose because Kelli is their alibi. Because of this, Kelli is at home, in her room every Friday night, with a stocked mini fridge and an XBox (she's rich, remember?).
I found it difficult to believe that Kelli is eighteen when she says "Oh total barf." Or "Wait a darn tootin' minute." I don't curse very much but even I don't say 'darn tootin.'
The hero, Chase, is twenty-one. He has only kissed three people in life (that includes Kelli). He also has never touched anyone's breast until Kelli. I also found this a little bit unbelievable.
Kelli and Chase have a 'meet cute.' There's no real conflict in their courtship until her side job as the alibi gets between. There's also a small mystery about Chase's younger brother, Robbie.
Read this is you want a sweet, cute read that's more YA than NA. Otherwise skip this, Random House Flirt's first attempt at NA. I remain hopeful that the upcoming books are more reflective of the genre.

He stood for nothing save his own hedonism and selfishness, she wanted to be anywhere in the world but here. Anywhere."
Poor Adriana has been assigned to watch over Prince Patricio (Pato). Pato's brother, and heir to the throne of Kitzania, will be getting married in a few weeks. Adriana has to prevent Pato from behaving inappropriately and causing embarrassment to the family.
Adriana comes from scandal herself. Three descendants have been mistresses to the Kitzanian royal family. "It isn't my dirt but I'm covered in it, head toe, but I'll be clean. Ever."
As Adriana and Pato work together, the disdain grows to an attraction. More importantly, there's trust building between them. Pato shares a secret that explains his hedonistic lifestyle.
Overall, I enjoyed their story. Pato and Adriana make a scandalously delightful couple.

"So there is a problem." "The beautiful, cast-off daughter of an heiress turns up decades later after her evil stepfather's death to live in the big mansion of horrors, and you have to ask if there's a problem."
That sums up this book well. Except there are lot of problems. There's also the issue of the ghost that Alaina and the caretaker sees. This is not fully explained or resolved. It is book 1 in a trilogy so hopefully answers are provided in later books. There's also the big issue of Alaina's last case before she left the firm, which led her to lose a chance to be a partner in at her law firm. Finally, the problem of where Alaina's two sisters are. So many questions in a short book.
Romantic suspense books are always hard to grade because 1) you have to believe in the romance 2) the suspense/ mystery has to be satisfying.
The romance: Carter and Alaina are attracted to each other right at the start. I thought they jumped into bed a little quickly. However, I did like that the "I love you's" were not exchanged at the end. That would have felt very rushed. You know for a certain that's where they are heading though.
The suspense: I kinda knew where the trail would lead to but I didn't know all of the twists. Again the ghost was not resolved. Alaina and the caretaker have seen the ghost. What is the ghost doing haunting the house? Is the ghost trying to tell them something?
Although it is a 3 star read/ average book, I will be reading the rest of the trilogy to see how the author resolves the mystery of the ghost/ mansion/ sisters/ inheritance.

It was slightly confusing at first because the author needed to provide background info. Let me sum it up here. Cassie has three friends that she met in college. She is attending the wedding of one of them, Reese. Apparently in the first book, Reese left her groom at the altar to elope with her ex-husband.
This book begins with the aftermath of the cancelled wedding. Cassie is an astronomer, currently working to get her PhD at Cornell. She spots Tuck and her pheromones go crazy. She doesn't know to handle this. Her friends encourage her to proposition Tuck into a one night stand.
"This is purely scientific, you understand?" Cassie clarified as Tuck continued to watch her with his blue eyes. "I seem to have developed a...thing for your pheromones."
As you can see, Cassie does not have the best social skills. Luckily for Cassie, the attraction is mutual and they have sex. Cassie fakes her orgasm which leads them to have more sex until she has a real one.
After their one night stand is done, Cassie can't stop thinking about the amazing sex she had with Tuck. She invites him over. She still can't stop thinking of him. Eventually, Tuck suggests that she come live with him, temporarily, so that she can have all the sex she wants. Of course, she agrees.
I enjoyed watching prickly, smart, socially inept Cassie deal with her attraction to Tuck. Naturally, it takes her awhile to realize that there is more to what she feels for Tuck than just lust. Tuck is great hero because he understands Cassie. He appreciates her brain and her body.
This was a fun book to read. I enjoyed the banter between Cassie and her friends as well as Cassie and Tuck.

Nicola has come home to Redgum Valley to help watch their absent-minded and eccentric parents while Una lives in Sydney so that she can write her book.
Nicola's next door neighbor, who, of course, has an adorable dog, is Blair. Nicola had a huge crush on Blair in high school and even wrote a poem about him. He publicly rejected and humiliated her and from that moment on, she has hated him.
This sweet romance is told completely from Nicola's POV. You get to see her reaction to Blair re-appearing in her life. You get to discover who Blair really is and her changing opinions and feelings for him.
I was charmed by this book as much as Nicola was charmed by Blair. Blair and Nicola are smart, intelligent people with a quick wit. I enjoyed seeing them fall for each other.

Luke, a billionaire man-ho, is shot in the middle of having sex. He is urged by his friends to take a vacation until the man who shot him is caught. Off to Cancun he goes, where he meets Peyton.
Peyton propositions him and they have sexy times together for a few days, until she goes home. Where is home? Well, coincidentally enough, home is Chicago, where Luke also lives.
Again, it's short and there's lot of sex and just enough humor to make me want to read the other books in this series.
