Songs of Perdition is a spin off series from her highly acclaimed Songs of Submission series which starred Jonathan Drazen. Songs of Perdition stars Jonathan’s sister, Fiona and Songs of Corruption stars another of his sisters, Theresa. It is not necessary to have read the other series to enjoy this one but it is necessary to have read Kick, part one of the Songs of Perdition series before reading Use.
Once again, CD Reiss has pulled off another dark, edgy and wickedly uncomfortable ride in Use. We’re right back with the unholy triumvirate of Fiona, Deacon and Elliott that was first unleashed upon us in her usual unapologetic manner in Kick. Fiona is still institutionalised and suffering from amnesia, Elliott is still harbouring uncomfortable feelings for his patient and Deacon has yet to explain what happened that fateful day in the stables.
CD Reiss truly does have an uncanny knack of turning decidedly flawed and really rather dark characters into heroes and heroines that we just can’t get enough of. After all, no one is behaving particularly well here. Fiona is a sex addict, a drug addict and really not above using her considerable oral skills to get what she wants from other people. She’s ruled by her desire and any cock in a storm will do it seems – when she’s aroused, she’ll do just about anything and anyone to get herself off!
Elliott really ought to be behaving better – Fiona is his patient and he’s really only one hard-on away from ruining his career. All her stories of debauchery and sexual submission have awakened something in Elliott he never knew was there and now he is burning with desire for his very disturbed patient. He ought to be walking in the opposite direction. Fast. But he’s not – his curiosity is getting the better of him and he’s walking a fine line here. He’s darkly fascinated and mistrustful of Fiona’s dominant, Deacon.
Deacon, for his part is yet another deliciously dominant hero from CD Reiss. He’s still a bit of an enigma to us – we really only know him from flashbacks and yet what we do know is incredibly tantalising. The way he loves to dominate and knot Fiona into absolute submission is just mesmerising but he’s not above sharing her should the whim take him – he’s really not bothered who he allows to fuck her.
Despite all of this, it’s actually a delicious combination as CD Reiss takes us down a dark and sinister path that we’re powerless and really don’t want to resist. This is her usual dish of seduction, passion and love intensely delivered with her usual side order of snark. CD Reiss doesn't just publish books, she unleashes them upon an unsuspecting public and drags us into her dark and atmospheric world where it is entirely possible to lose oneself and never want to return.
The ending is ambiguous with several loose ends left to tie up so I suspect we will see more from this series eventually. For fans of the Songs of Submission series, Jonathan has a starring role to play here as we get to delve into a sordid little chapter of his history pre-Monica.

The book had an enormous impact and I can understand the fans desperation for more, as the ending really did leave us all reeling but I was scared that Jason Luke may turn a little trite and go soft on us and find a truly Dickensian plot twist to find some hackneyed cliché of an ending but I was seriously underestimating this man and the sequel packs as powerful a punch as the first and I was left shocked and breathless by this one and a small part of me was left yearning for that cliché I’d been so desperate to avoid.
With his life on countdown and another tragic loss looming large on the horizon, Jonah begins this book taking long, hard look at his life and what Leticia actually means to him and, with the reaction to his Interview going stratospheric, he connects once again with her for a series of new interviews and the promise to further investigate that sizzling chemistry they share.
For a long time Jonah talks fairly dispassionately about passion – it’s a curious juxtaposition but what he’s doing subliminally and achieving beautifully is heightening our anticipation. As Jonah expounds long and hard about the art of anticipation, Jason Luke is actually doing this to his readers – we’re desperate for Leticia and Jonah to succumb to that all-encompassing passionate chemistry that they share and Mr Luke really does make us wait, eking out our expectations until they, at last, finally capitulate into a super-charged white hot scene of domination and submission and I swear there were fireworks!! We’ve waited a long time for this and I was not disappointed.
BUT – hold on to your hats because this devastating novel is all about dangling the proverbial carrot in front of the reader and snatching it away just before you cross the finishing line. Be prepared to weep copiously or possibly just stand still in shock not daring to breathe because Jason Luke has absolutely no intention of taking his readers on an easy ride and it’s that which makes him stand out from the crowd.
In Love With A Master is a truly worthy sequel to the sensational first novel – it’s hauntingly beautiful, wonderfully sensual and absolutely devastating. As I think we’d come to expect, it’s beautifully written, very captivating and another roller-coaster of a ride. I’m very much looking forward to whatever Jason Luke can come up with next – as an author who bucks the trends of erotic fiction and ventures into unchartered territory where few dare to tread, I expect only great things in the future.

Unraveled is a fairly dark erotica novella from K Bromberg, the author of the Driven Trilogy and, while there’s a veiled reference to Colton, this is very different and is pure erotica. It’s not erotic romance as you’ve probably come to expect from her but it is oh so freakin hot!!
We begin with Lily drinking under a Tuscan night sky alone after her workaholic husband, Anderson, has cried off the trip at the last minute. As much as Lily loves Anderson, after two kids and more than a decade together, the spark in their sex life has firmly fizzled out and left them both jaded and uninspired. Reading erotic novels opened lily’s eyes to a whole new and deviant world, one that she really wants to experiment with but her very vanilla husband has balked at the thought.
So now, getting slowly inebriated alone in Italy, Lily suddenly, after catching the eye of an intensely sexy and dark stranger, finds herself roofied, bound, blindfold and naked and completely at the mercy of this man who makes her body sing through pain and pleasure despite her fears and forced infidelity.
My body shivers from a potent cocktail of fear mixed with traitorous pleasure. The heightened sensation shocks my mind back to the present. To the here and now. To the gloved hand sliding a fingertip between my breasts, to the ragged breathing of the man I can’t see, to the unknown rifling through me.
And the deep-seated ache to be owned.
I should have never looked up.
I know it’s all kind of wrong – none of this is Lily’s choice but as this mysterious stranger forces her body to experience orgasmic highs she never thought possible, she finds herself craving his touch – she’s become a willing captive. I think K Bromberg sets out to titillate and arouse and she definitely succeeds in this. I found myself coming over all unnecessary as I sat and read this in my back garden in the sun and it made me so hot, i had to seek out my hubby. You know what I’m saying, right girls??
So, I think it pays to know what to expect here – this is a highly arousing and really rather deviant piece of erotica and it’s nothing like the Driven Trilogy. It makes you question yourself – how can something so wrong be so incredibly sexy and enticing. Well, I guess, that’s the hallmark of really good dark erotica and that’s exactly what this is – a high quality piece of dark erotica.

Well, I actually finished this one a few days ago but I really struggled to get my head around just why this didn't work for me. I really, really love dark erotica and these books need to feel so erotic and yet so wrong and for a while I couldn't see why this one was missing the mark for me and eventually I realised that it's dark but just not very erotic.
The 'hero' Gabriel is a paranoid schizophrenic who has been cyber-stalking our 'heroine' Eleni for years and finally decides that enough is enough and that she has pushed him too far with her excessive drinking and slut-like behaviour. Gabriel stands as judge, jury and executioner over her situation and decides what he thinks is best for her - ultimately incarceration, detox and rape.
Usually dark erotica makes me feel good but guilty - you know it's wrong but it's still sexy as hell but this one just disturbed me. I think possibly paranoid schizophrenia as a vessel for dark romance was possibly a set too far for me.
I really didn't connect with the characters and found both of them very hard to identify with them, struggled to believe in their growing connection and found myself totally non-plussed by the ending - I absolutely didn't believe that it could end that way. I just felt weirded about my it all, not at all satisfied and left with a strong sense that this was all just a bit wrong.
I do appreciate what the authors were trying to achieve - after all, Amazon has been pulling dark erotica from it's shelves and this may well have caused this one to be written this way but, sadly, I just lost my connection and it just fell flat for me.
I still love the authors and will read whatever they bring out next but this one just wasn't for me.

Ladies and Gentlemen – welcome back to Club Destiny. It’s been a while since we visited this gorgeous kinky corner of Texas and it’s so good to be back. Now, oh boy, do we have one sexy treat for you.
Let introduce to you the stars of the show. In the red corner we have Mr Xander Boone, real estate mogul, respected dom and brick shithouse of a man aaaaaaaaaand in the blue corner we have Mistress Merecedes Bryant, raven haired beauty, business woman and an established and experienced Domme. Yes. it’s Dom vs Domme and let me warn you, the chemistry here is going to get so explosive, it’s ready to go off like an atom bomb!
We begin with Xander having convinced Mercedes to sub for him for a demo of dominance and submission for Samantha and Logan who are looking for that certain something extra to add even more sizzle to their sex life. Having lost their third twice now, they’re looking to try something new and Xander thinks Logan’s natural dominance is what they should be exploiting and he’s deciding to give them a little demonstration into flogging a sub and demanding her submission only he’s chosen a sought after and well respected Domme, Mercedes, to sub for him for the night. Of course, the man has ulterior motives – he is genuinely seeking Mercedes’ submission and he knows that it won’t be willingly given up and will be hard fought.
Mercedes is a wonderfully strong heroine and more than a match for Xander. She perceives herself to be naturally dominant and likes and needs to stay in control over every aspect of her life, most especially her sex-life. BUT, she has reasons to need to stay in control and Xander sees something else in her and perceives her to be a natural submissive that she is hiding deep inside. Of course, Mercedes strongly disagrees and agrees to a five day trial period to submit to him with the agreement that he will allow her to top him twice. In public.
Of course what start out as a double dare to see who could top who is going to turn into something far deeper and much more emotional as Mercedes will find herself ever more confused by her role and Xander will find his need for her submission increasing exponentially as he is determined to prove to her that the connection they now share is real and lasting. It was never going to be a battle easily won and watch out for some seriously sexy scenes between these two which are seriously fucking hot!
Xander Boone – what a delicious tatted, pierced giant of a man. Ever since we first met him, I’ve been dying for his story. He’s built like a brick shithouse and is a commanding and experienced dom. Please excuse me while I melt into a submissive puddle at his feet. He’s been going through submissives pretty fast over the years and has never really formed an emotional connection to any of them but he’s seen something in Mercedes during their friendship of nearly a decade and he’s decided now’s the time and takes advantage of the situation that arises with Logan and Samantha to force her hand.
I so enjoyed this – it’s very much, as the title implies, about perception. Mostly about how Mercedes sees herself, her role in BDSM and how others, most especially, Xander see her. Xander is definitely seeing something in Mercedes that no one else has seen before and he knows he wants that! It’s absolutely mouth-wateringly delicious to watch their growing feelings as the five days of their agreement progress. Mercedes’ inner turmoil and confusion comes across loud and clear and Xander is infinitely patient with her and plays a crafty and skilful game with her.
There were some incredible scenes including the opening of Alluring Indulgence which was only briefly touched on and I feel sure is about to take centre stage in a Nicole Edwards novel in the immediate future. I can’t wait to see that scene retold! We get to catch up with all the guys and gals of Club Destiny and meet a few new interesting characters who definitely need to appear in stories of their own including very interesting new Brit.
So, it’s another sexy romp from Nicole Edwards who once again deftly combines super-charged white-hot sex scenes with an incredible and in-depth emotional love story. She’s one of my go-to authors for shit-hot erotic romance and she never disappoints.

Talk about blown away and traumatised!! This is actually my first read by EK Blair and I was really keen to try her work I don’t think anything could have prepared me for how profoundly this book affected me. It was totally not what I was expecting but that’s not a bad thing – very few books have the ability to grip and consume me quite like this one and to truly shock me. And this one’s a shocker!! It’s bold, it’s brave and it’s completely addictive. Once you’ve begun, it’s almost impossible to put it down.
I finished it late at night with that final, devastating word echoing in my head – traumatised, bewildered and really rather shocked. I attempted to sleep but this stalked my dreams, refusing to release it’s hold on me. Even now, days later, it’s resonating loud and clear in my imagination. Bang is not easily forgotten! It’s a dark and twisted and very challenging tale of revenge and hatred, Everyone here is either being played or is a player and nothing and no one is what they seem to be and everything is shrouded in intrigue.
I strongly believe that it’s very important to experience this book just as the author intends so I’ll keep the summary very brief. You really need to go in blind and just let the whole experience take you and lead you far down a very dark path with nothing to guide you. You don’t read this book – you experience it!
We start with Nina, beautiful wife of Bennett, a very rich and successful businessman. They’ve been married for a few short years and Bennett is a loving, attentive and caring husband. We also have Declan, a deliciously kinky Scotsman and business associate of Bennett and also Pike, a man from Nina’s past. Nina has an agenda, a darkly twisted plan for vengeance that is slowly revealed as the story progresses.
I was able to feel really very strong sympathy for all four main characters. These are all good people but they are all victims of circumstance. None of them deserves the pain and agony that EK Blair unleashes upon them and part of the trauma of reading this book is the shocking chain of events set in motion by Nina’s ill-conceived plan – everyone here is undeserving of their fate. Nina is a woman completely destroyed by her awful past and it’s easy to understand her motives even if you think they’re wrong. Not many who’ve endured what she has would even be sane today. Is Nina sane? I’ll leave you to mull that one over once you’ve finished the book.
So, the story is told in a dual timeline – the present and the past. It’s not clear how these two lines converge and set Nina on her destructive path for a long time but each story is wholly compelling. Each time EK Blair left the past and returned to the present, I really wanted to stay to learn more and vice versa. I found myself galloping through these plotlines with horror as the story unfolds. Nina’s past is a dark and harrowing place full of extreme sadness and horror and abuse with Pike being the only light in a dark world for her. He was her shining beacon, her only hope and it’s not hard to understand the strong loyalty she feels towards him. I was completely unable to put this down as Nina’s past is revealed in agonising, poignant, heart-breaking detail.
And now, in the present, as a reader, I found myself experiencing a bad case of divided loyalties. I fully understood the bitterness and resentment that consumes Nina but her intended victims were all good people that I found myself also adoring and, as the plot hurtles towards its devastating conclusion, the word Nooooo screamed long and hard in my head.
It’s a really brave story line from EK Blair, treading a path very few authors dare to take, and I don’t think many books that I read this year will be able to shock be quite like Bang did. it’s a dark and destructive story of vengeance from a woman consumed by hatred, resentment and bitterness – a woman who is closed off to all positive emotions that she can’t see true love, her one true chance of salvation, when it’s standing right in front of her.
Nina does really bad things to really good people and it;s conflicting experience to read this book – at once I felt deep sympathy and utter revulsion for her and shuddered at how she set her dastardly plan in motion. There are two more books planned for this series and the synopsis for book two isn’t even available yet. I tried to get it out of the author but she resolutely refused. Authors can be so evil! It’s hard to see where the story goes from here – any chance of happiness for any of these people seems to have been destroyed by the cataclysmic events of the last few chapters.
So, for an utterly consuming yet deeply shocking read, I can highly recommend Bang but all I can say is – BE PREPARED!
