A fun story about a 40-year-old newly divorced woman who wants a perky puppy, but ends up with droopy matchmaking hound "Fred." I loved this book almost as much as Getting Rid of Bradley, another short, funny contemporary romance novel with dogs. (less)

It's a story of intelligent predators, infatuated prey, lust for life, and being pushed too far. It resonated for me. It might have worked just as well as a short story.(less)

A fun, heartwarming, not-too-long of a book pitting a feisty and rootable underdog heroine against a handsome, arrogant businessman who needed to be brought to his knees. Especially enjoyable was the snappy dialog and humor.(less)

Tough to pick a favorite story - they're all fun and well-executed - but "A Palindrome" strikes me as particularly thought-provoking.(less)

It's still perfectly readable, even compelling: young beautiful girl surrounded by evil secrets must discover who she really is and come to terms with the wickedness of others without compromising her own angelic nature. But now rather than deliciously dramatic, the scenes feel pretty over-the-top. One unchanged reaction to the book is my disgust with its ending. Audrina should've kicked that cowardly, cheating "love interest" to the curb. (less)

I admired the fine writing, and despite some empathetic cringing further along in the story, enjoyed immersing in the "total power exchange" world of the D/s relationship. The tpe aspect ultimately went past my comfort level, but it did it creatively enough that I couldn't stop reading with fascination until the ending. (less)

Heartsick is a very good book, with effective tension and graphic torture scenes orchestrated by a beautiful evil villain the likes of which I haven't enjoyed since Kushiel's Dart's Melisande. But Silence of the Lambs is, well, Silence of the Lambs. A superb book in every way. This one's just really good. (less)
