When Hollywood It Boy, Reid Alexander, arrives on location, his intentions are simple: film another blockbuster hit while enjoying his celebrity statuWhen Hollywood It Boy, Reid Alexander, arrives on location, his intentions are simple: film another blockbuster hit while enjoying his celebrity status to the fullest. His costar is a virtual unknown with whom he has blazing hot chemistry, and the universe is lining up nicely to grant whatever he wants - until he's confronted with a bitter ex-girlfriend and a rival for the first girl to spark his genuine interest in years.
Emma Pierce just got her big break after more than a decade of filming commercials for grape juice, department stores and tampons, and bit parts in made-for-TV movies. Nailing the lead role in a wide-release film should send her into raptures. But Emma is experiencing a building desire to be normal, and starring in a silly, modernized adaptation of one of her favorite novels--opposite the very hot Reid Alexander--isn't going to advance that aspiration.
Indie actor Graham Douglas isn't overly picky when it comes to film roles. If it pays, he'll do it. Besides, his friend Brooke Cameron snatched up the role of the bitchy hot girl and could use his help as a buffer, because her ex is the star. Graham has no problem keeping a handle on the situation, until he finds himself attracted to Reid's costar, Emma, the girl Reid is pursuing full-throttle with his standard arsenal of charm, good looks and arrogance.
Mature Young Adults (language, drinking, sexual situations)
I don't know anything about Hollywood lifestyle, but I found it's plot very credible. Excellent book!! Enjoyable main characters, addictive, I couldn't put it down. Cute contemporary read. ...more

Civilization is concentrated in those cities which escaped the severe bombings of decades past. Travel between cities is highly restricted. Electric fences separate the city from the Wilds--unregulated territory which was presumably mostly destroyed by bombs. The totalitarian government teaches that love is a disease, amor deliria nervosa, commonly referred to as the delirium. A surgical cure for the delirium has been developed and is mandatory for citizens 18 years old and over. Lena has looked forward to the procedure for years, convinced as she is by the government that love is a horrible disease that must be destroyed from mankind's system. However, mere months before her scheduled procedure, Lena falls in love with an Invalid (a person over 18 who has not taken the cure and live in the Wilds) named Alex. He was born in the Wilds outside the city, and has pretended to be cured in order to live undetected in the city. He offers Lena the means of escape from the procedure that will destroy her ability to love. The two of them would leave the city and live in the Wilds, joining the rebels who oppose the procedure and the government. Although Lena struggles with the thought of leaving her life behind, she ultimately decides to go just seven days before her procedure. Alex and Lena are discovered meeting together a few nights before their planned escape. Lena is captured and held in her home, tied down and under guard, until she can have the procedure to cure her of her lovesickness--and render her docile and unresisting. Alex rescues her and they attempt to escape the city, but Alex allows himself to be captured and shot on the spot to save Lena. She runs off into the Wilds, not wanting Alex's sacrifice to be in vain....more

She will spend her evenings studying for the SATs. Spare time will be used to help her obsessive mother prepare for the big opening of the townhouse section of her luxury development. He doesn’t fit Macy’s life at all–so why does she feel so comfortable with him? So … happy? What is it about him that makes her let down her guard and finally talk about how much she misses her father, who died before her eyes the year before? Sarah Dessen delivers a page-turning novel that carries readers on a roller coaster of denial, grief, comfort, and love as we watch a broken but resilient girl pick up the pieces of her life and fit them back together. After Crescendo's final pages which I have yo say made me jump, scream, yell, etc... the story continues in Silence and we can read how the author developed this paranormal romance about a teen who's attracted to a fallen angel. As everyone who loves Hush Hush and Crescendo, the best part is the kind of good-bad, bad-good character of Patch who is a fallen angel, who fell when he loved a human girl and tried to be with her. But don't trust him too much, there is something about him that you need to be careful -an aerie, dark, but captivating feeling about him. In Silence, Nora and Patch have overcome the secrets in his dark past but face a powerful villain. Let's now say that I love the plot, the well written style of the author, Patch (obviously!!), and the ending of Silence, who leave us waiting for the next and last book. If you read Hush Hush and Crescendo and liked them, you will like Silence. If you haven't read the series and you want to give it a try to young adult paranormal reading about fallen angels and romance, then you should read the books....more

Her twin brother Charlie is shipped off to rehab in North Carolina. Her mother accepts a teaching position in Connecticut, leaving Amy home alone to finish her junior year of high school. Then her mom arranges to get Amy to Connecticut via a cross-country drive with a family friend, 19-year-old Roger. The pair quickly ditches the pre-planned itinerary in favor of more spontaneous detours to Yosemite, Colorado, and Graceland. Amy's mother is predictably furious and cuts off her credit card, leaving the teens on a shoestring budget. Along the way Amy gradually opens up to Roger about her father's accident and her repressed feelings about it. During a stop in Louisville, Roger finds closure with the girl who recently dumped him, leaving him available for a relationship with Amy. The theme of her emotional journey meshes well with the realistically rendered physical journey across the U.S. Playlists, pages from a travel scrapbook, well-drawn supporting characters, and unique regional details enhance the narrative. Flashback chapters shed light on Amy's life before her father's death, without breaking the steady pacing. One sexual situation is discreetly described. Overall, this is an emotionally rewarding road novel with a satisfying, if not totally surprising, conclusion....more

Now she is in New Jersey at her sophomore year dealing with school, friends, family, teachers, etc. (those things who were important back then when you were 15). Brenna is smart, strong, independent, thoughtful, very mature, fun, and natural.
Then, between books, chalks, and textbooks, she meets two attractive boys: Saxon Maclean and Jake Kelly. One is super smart but kind of a bad boy and totally good looking. The other has a bad reputation and a wild past, but now he is working hard trying to change his past and leaving it all behind. Did I mention he is also a very good looking guy?
Now, Brenna is caught up in a complicated love life, exploring new things, dealing with average issues, parents expectations, larger than life emotions, etc. Can you call your common sense to deal with Brenna in this drama?
This is a well written book. Plot and characters were very well developed. You get to like them and understand them. I found my connection with one of the guys: Saxon. I can't explain why but I just love male characters who hide their feelings. There is something about the bad-boys with a hidden-heart who got me every time!! It was an entertaining read, fast paced, and intriguing plot. I recommend this book if you are looking for a YA new novel....more
