REVIEW: There should be a law against books such as The Beast – especially when they leave you feeling empty, like nothing else exist out there on the same level of awesome. The Beast is J.R. Ward’s best Blackdagger Brotherhood thus far and I am going to tell you why you should read it.
The Chosen: Layla she seems to be going through a phase where she can’t stop her feelings and thoughts about Xcor. Her relationship with Xcor though it has ended it is still very much present in her mind and heart – she doesn’t know how and why but she must stop thinking about him for the greater good because she feels her feelings betray the very people who opened their arms and heart to her. I think Ward did a great job exploiting Layla’s feelings towards Xcor – I think the way in which she did it gave her story a lot more substance than we have seen in the past. I think Layla has finally realize that she too deserves happiness even if it means she must sacrifice.
Vishous: One of the most powerful males in the brotherhood is finally opening up a bit more, while he isn’t necessary spitting out his feelings about what goes on around him we do get to see how the things that didn’t necessarily affected him before seem to be getting a bit more under his skin. I enjoyed Vishous’s part in this book not because he is the epitome of hotness and power but because we finally see him react towards his mother and his relationship with her, about Jane and about all that seems to be changing around him.
The Beast/Rhage: Oh Rhage, the wonderful Hollywood. He is such a treat to read about. His story has always touched my heart and the way in which it continues to develop is just wonderful. Though we know his relationship with Mary is one to go forever his feelings have been taking into a roller-coaster ride. Ward did a superb job with Rhage’s story. We were given an inside look into his relationship with Mary and into their lives, their desire, their needs and emotions. There were many surprises and also very sad moments. But overall Ward gave us a story that covered all its bases, from the relationship hiatus to the overwhelming passion and love that exists between these characters to the exciting new members that have become part of them.
Mary: Mary is such a wonderful character, this book explores her emotions deeply, it exposes her vulnerability without taking away the nature of her character and the strength that seems to keep her and Rhage afloat and all throughout adversity. I enjoyed how well played out her scenes were. Mary is one of those characters one can’t help but adore, she is strong but sensitive she is loving and intelligent. I really enjoyed how Ward created so many difficult situations that would’ve broken her spirit but she managed to find the balance to make it all work.
Overall, this book covers so much more than I expected, new alliances, new family members, dissapereances, birthdays, and of course love. This is perhaps the best book in the BlackDagger Brotherhood thus far. I recommend everyone to read it, read it slow soyou can enjoy these characters and their story....more
REVIEW: Kresley Cole did it again, she wrote a story that brought the IAD series to a whole new level of awesomeOriginally posted @ ReadingDiva's Blog
REVIEW: Kresley Cole did it again, she wrote a story that brought the IAD series to a whole new level of awesome. It isn’t fair that I simply state how awesome the series is getting. It is important to note that everything about Sweet Ruin was fantastic.
Sweet Ruin is book # 16 in the Immortal After Dark series and one that has put the series in a whole new level. If you have been following the series, you already know that Cole manages to bring fantastic characters to life, her stories of love, sacrifice and redemption are heartfelt, swoon worthy and beautifully developed. Sweet Ruin doesn’t fall far from that trend, it has all one has come to expect from Cole’s amazing stories. Sweet Ruin is the story of Rune & Josephine (Jo), both of these characters have had their share of terrifying circumstances that each has had to endure.
From book one we have been learning about the Ascension and how this event impacts the Lore as a whole, it is the time when war between different creatures of the Lore come to be, it is also a time when mates are found and new species are created/born. So far we have met a number of characters and their stories have made our hearts burst with excitement through their quests and adventures. However, Sweet Ruin brings new doubts, twists and turns that had me doubting everything I believed I knew about the stories I have read and the characters I have come to love. Nix, is spectacular and her interaction with these characters is twisted and enigmatic, her character gives the story a certain level of secrecy and mystery that seems characteristic of her.
Nix is part of everyone’s future and she plays her cards very well. Jo’s little brother Thaddie is all Jo has, her love for her brother is what pushed her into survival mode forcing her to steal, and lie in order to survive. But when destiny has other plans for her she finds herself against the wrong people and gets killed. Josephine (Jo) then finds herself coming back from the death as a monster, a monster she only thought existed in nightmares. She has strength and powers she never could’ve imagined, she becomes her own superhero but as she grows more powerful so does her thirst for blood.
Jo is one of those characters you love from the very instant you meet her, she is strong and determined, stubborn and giving, she is all I have come to expect from Cole’s characters. After her death, Jo is separated from her brother. She understands that by allowing the separation, she is giving her brother the chance to live a life she wouldn’t be able to give him, even if their separation breaks her heart and soul. I enjoyed Jo’s story very much, her circumstances taught her at a young age to not trust and to survive at all cost. While in her transition from a child to an adult, Jo experienced the need of connection, her life without Thaddie had left a hole in her heart and a deep need to connect with someone like her. Her total bad-ass attitude is perhaps one of the best things about her character, from the way in which she takes charge when fighting to the way in which she handles her emotions. Her abilities only add to her character, her personality as well as her ingenuity are traits we do not find often in paranormal characters.
Jo uniqueness is simply fascinating, her character’ origins is new to the theme in which the series has been going and it adds an exciting stance to the fascinating back drop story of the Ascension. Cole manages to combine paranormal aspects and fantasy in a way that is both simple and fascinating.
Rune is a bad-ass, sexy, insatiable and extremely dangerous alpha male. He extracts information, when he needs it and how he needs it, his methods though unconventional have proven efficient. His sensuality is only measured by amount of women he has bedded and his charm as well as his smarts aren’t necessarily what women want. Rune is one of those characters one wish we could read more about, he makes the story even more enjoyable with his charming yet irreverent attitude and shameless sexual advances & innuendos. Cole gave us a hero that not only charms women with his wit but also with his insatiable sexual desires. Rune is dangerous, he is part of the Moriør, an alliance of otherworldly that is rumored to be the exterminator of worlds and entire civilizations. While some of it may be true, not all rumors carry the whole truth.
I was swoon off my feet by Rune, he is irreverent, sexy, sexual and extremely dangerous. He is the archer of the Moriør and someone who has maintained a reputation throughout the lore, his mission is all he focuses on, not because it comes from Orion the man who saved his lie, but because he was the man who gave him purpose. He drags a vengeance centuries old and he will not stop until he finds the last of the lineage of the woman who killed his mother. While Rune has more than one goal, he also has a mission he must complete. What is not part of his mission and long term goals is finding his mate.
When Jo and Rune meet their meeting is one that brings both, laughter and sensuality and one can’t help but fall in-love with their banter right away. These two characters have so much in common, their pain and suffering as well as their passion and need for love and connection. Their interaction is fun, fresh, sexy and explosive. Their story develops slowly but with a certain spark that keeps readers glue to the pages. Sweet Ruin is fun, exciting, filled with passion, sensuality and sexual tension. The new characters introduced in the book only add the excitement of what is to come from the series, Orion & Nix may have history and I can’t wait to see where it all leads. The story leave many questions unanswered but at the same time it also answers many questions that were brought out by previous books in the series.
Do not wait to read Sweet Ruin, it is a story that will keep you awake at night until the very last page....more

REVIEW: We all need a dose of Paranormal Romance from time to time, and what’s better than sweet romance between an alpha and his mate. When author Jamie Lynn Dougherty announced her new book I was excited to read it. I will admit to also being a bit apprehensive, I really wanted this story to have the same exciting and fresh flare that her other books had (Samantha Brand & Trinity Pierce) series.
Shifted Souls is the story of Francine (Frankie), a woman who was born with privilege and money but whose decision to leave it all behind for love cost her almost her very soul. Shifted Souls is one of those stories that start somewhat slow, it gives us the ins and outs of its main character, Frankie, a young woman who left everything she had for love thinking that her happily ever after was forever. Little did she know, the man who she promised to love and cherish would break her heart in more pieces than she could count.
The story developed slowly at first, Frankie is a tortured & abused woman who is not aware of what lurks inside her. She married her high school sweetheart and though things didn’t exactly pan out as she wanted she doesn’t give up on her relationship. She lives isolated and away from the father and the friends she grew up with. Frankie’s story explores the terrible damage and consequences of domestic violence, it shows us the fragility of the human soul when exposed to abuse from those who promised love and tenderness. However, things abruptly change when Frankie shifts into a wolf and put an end to her abuser making things a little more interesting. The twists and turns that follow add the suspense needed, making the story move a little faster.
While I understand Frankie’s indecision and at times lack of action, I can’t deny my frustration. She has the means and even the support she might’ve needed if she decided to leave her husband yet she stuck with him, taking his abuse not only physical but also psychological and emotional. I think as a heroine she lacked the backbone I am used to seeing, and I can’t help myself but compare her character to others from Dougherty’s books.
I am a fan of Dougherty’s writing style, she create great stories with heart and passion. Her characters though flawed, they manage to capture the readers’ heart. She writes sensitive and compassionate alpha males, without taking away their strong and dominant personalities that makes us fall in-love. Bo is one of those characters, his understanding and dedication to his pack and Frankie is admirable and extremely sweet, his admiration and love for her is what made me like him even more. He trusts her decisions and stands back in support, allowing her to make mistakes while also encouraging her to show and give her best.
I enjoyed their story, their relationship developed slowly which is something I enjoy in Dougherty’s books. She doesn’t rush or push her characters to extreme, she manages to maintain a believable pace at which relationships should develop, she usually gives them a strong foundation and admirable traits. I loved how they grew from friends to lovers, giving each other the support and respect needed to keep and maintain a strong bond.
Shifted Souls is a great story, one of second chances, passion and devotion and one that has set a strong foundation to more stories. If you enjoy sweet paranormal romance Shifted Souls is for you. Get to know these characters and their story, each unique and ultimately likeable....more

REVIEW: I am a big far of Jacquelyn Frank and have read almost everything she has written. Having said that, I was very excited about the premise of Cursed by Fire. Jacquelyn Frank has written a very sweet and love story of sacrifice, love and triumph.
The story follows a battered hero, Dethan a man who once was powerful, a man who felt he could conquered the world around him. His conquests brought him power and riches, yet he felt he deserved more. Dethan and his band of brothers pursued to conquer immortality without considering the consequences.
After years of being punished by the gods in one of the 8 caves of hell, Dethan gets a visit by one of the gods. A god he once prayed to and fought for. The god’s offer to free Dethan and it is then when his quest for redemption starts. Dethan is one of those characters I like to read about, he is powerful, honest to a fault, caring and loyal. The punishment he received for hundreds of years did not break his spirit but it gave him a new perspective.
I think Jacquelyn Frank did a great job creating an alpha male that wasn’t always burden by indecisions and misunderstandings. I liked that about Dethan, he was focus and kept working towards what he was destined to do. That didn’t take away from his prospect as a lover or a man who also desired the pleasures of the flesh. I think that part of his character was also nicely explored. Dethan’s ability to acknowledge the changes in him was ultimately what I enjoyed the most, there was no unnecessary drama. Though not always willing to pursue his needs, Dethan understood that there were times when you can’t separate pleasure and feelings, that at times they come together and at the end only the heart can tell what is best for the soul.
I also enjoyed Selinda, one of the strongest female characters I have read in a while. Focus, yet sensitive to everyone around her. Her sacrifices made her more human and likeable. The author explores Selinda’s feelings beautifully while also giving us a very mature and head strong character who finds herself trapped in a set of circumstances that will forever alter her life. I found Selinda to be both charming and fascinating. While I am not a fan of damsel in distress characters I admit to have enjoyed her innocence. Don’t get me wrong, Belinda isn’t the oblivious and clueless female character that awaits to be saved, Belinda sets into motion the steps needed to guarantee her freedom while gaining Dethan’s promises of pleasure.
Cursed by Fire isn’t one of those sex focus stories, on the contrary, it is a sweet love story that explores the characters need for redemption while also exposing their needs, desires and sexual awakening. Dethan & Selinda are great characters, they complimented each other. Both are strong and focus, loyal and sensitive to others suffering. The one complain I have about the story is the pace, certain things took a bit long to develop while others such as the romance was set at a nice pace. I also would’ve liked more showing and less telling, the interaction was not as constant as I would’ve liked but don’t let that deter you from reading it. I enjoyed Cursed By Fire, I think anyone looking for a sweet love story with some angst will find Cursed By Fire to their liking....more

REVIEW: The Lord Of The Underworld has been one of my favorite series to date and Gena Showalter one of my favorite PNR authors.
The Darkest Seduction is Paris’s story – to me Paris is one of the most exciting, funny and hot characters in the LOTU. Paris holds the demon of promiscuity within and can’t survive without sex, but there is a problem, Paris can’t have sex with the same woman more than once.
Paris has been fighting hunters for a long time, fighting for survival while also trying to find the artifacts that will help him and his friends find Pandora. In this installment of the LOTU we get a follow up to Sienna’s death. Paris non stop search for her to bring her to safety even if that means losing her forever, his inner battle with the dark that keeps trying to surface and his need to make Sienna his are what makes his story the more passionate. The author gave us a very matured, less playful and more focus Paris. This time he finally understands that there is more to the last encounter between him and Sienna, he feels there is more than his need to make sure she survives, and more to his need survival. I was happy to see these characters evolve and fight for what they thought to be just.
I enjoyed this installment very much – the way the author brought all these characters together again to create such an exciting story was amazing. I was happy to see Sienna coming out of the mold, she made her character a lot more enjoyable this time around. Her new abilities and strength gave the story the needed balance to make it a page turner. I liked how these characters fought for what they felt was right and held onto their sense of justice and loyalty. Paris’s story was heartfelt, the uncertainty and the many obstacles he had to overcome gave the story a sense of reality, it also made these characters more likeable. I like Sienna, her understanding and awaking into a world she always thought to be evil made her vulnerable but it also made her stronger.
I liked how she embraced her new reality and fought for her survival while also learning about sacrifice and respect for those around her. I think this story is one of my favorite so far. I liked that we got to see glimpses into other character’s life. I liked knowing how their relationships have evolved and how they are coping with the changes around them. I waited enough to read this book but I will not make the same mistake again. I will be picking up the next story and enjoy all these characters once again.
Gena Showalter is a great author, one that knows how to mix great romance with kick ass action without taking away the characters vulnerabilities while exploring the most deeply desires and feelings. If you are looking to read a great story of love and sacrifice then look no further....more

MINI REVIEW: Twice Tempted was exactly what I expected it to be. Vlad brought sexy back, the Prince of Darkness was no different in this book, his arrogance and unrepentant attitude came back with a vengeance.
I liked how their love and care for each other grew exponentially, Vlad kept his feelings hidden but not without letting it show little by little. I think that both character grew in many ways. Leila was more confortable with her power and she was also a lot more confortable about showing her love for Vlad. I can’t say I am a big fan of women who are always nagging at a man for their lack of affection and so on, but there were times when Leila had a point. Vlad on the other hand kept his “I am the Price of Darkness and I don’t do the smoochie stuff” attitude while protecting those he cared about including Leila’s family. I think the story was exactly what I expected.
There was action, betrayal and hot love making. There isn’t another vampire like Vlad, his power and his attitude made Twice Tempted a sexy and sensual read. I recommend it if you are a fan of strong and sensual vampires who are not afraid to kill with the same passion as he makes love....more

REVIEW: When I saw this book was available for grabs in NetGalley I almost screamed. I am a big fan of Lara Adrian and I can’t wait to read her books. Edge of Dawn is the latest book in The Midnight Breed Series.
The story of Mira starts 20 years later after the world discovered that humanity has for centuries shared the world with Vampires. The turmoil and problems started with Chase’s story and the roller-coaster of events that followed from there didn’t stop. For the past twenty years, the breed has been fighting for survival and for a peaceful existence. Their troubles didn’t end with the death of Draco, on the contrary, his actions set off a domino effect that would bring death and loss to the Breed and humanity alike.
Now that vampires are part of the world they have come to form part of society and part of all the forces such as military & political. Lara Adrian creates a world in which human and vampire fight to co-exist while evil lurks in the background plotting and twisting fate. After we saw the results of Chase’s capture and Draco’s death, I didn’t know what Mrs. Adrian would bring to the table to keep the series interesting and going, and my god she didn’t disappoint. We know Mira to be just 6 – 7 year old when the knowledge of vampires got out, as a child, Mira was fragile and vulnerable, 20 years later she has proven to be a valuable addition to the fight for justice and survival. She is tenacious, strong and agile.
Mira is the first woman to become captain of a team; she is all around a kick-ass heroine. Having to prove herself in the field, fighting comes easy to her, and that’s why I enjoyed her character so much. The drama in this book is non-stop; the revels have found ways to kill vampires all around the world. Increasing their targets and finding ways to bring uprising and hate in the human world against vampires. Now, the threat to the breed in general comes in form of a high tech weapon. The creation of a weapon which was not intended to kill vampires but its technology was perfected to do just that.
The action is non-stop and the tension between some characters is high. Kellan, who we know lost his family and came to live in the compound, is now one hot breed male. His friendship with Mira started the night he arrived at the compound, and the moment she tried to help him after being attacked by rogue vampires. Their relationship develops and they became more than friends, everything was going well until Kellan’s…HA I am going to leave that hanging there.
This book is intense, there are plenty twists and turns. There is a plot for total elimination of the Order, a plot to take over the world, and a plot to develop a technology that could eliminate the breed nation as a whole; all of these things and the tension between Mira & Kellan make Edge of Dawn my favorite Paranormal book for January. There are lies, deceit and betrayal; there is also love, friendship and understanding making Mira & Kellan two of my favorite couples.
Readers will be kept at the edge of their seat, and by the time they are done they will not have any nails left. We get a glimpse of everything that has happened since First Dawn (when humans learn about vampires) and readers will be glad to learn about what has happened with other characters such as Tegan, Lucan and Niko. There is a lot going on in this book and be prepare for the steamy scenes between Mira and Kellan. You may need a glass of cold water or just a cold shower. Keep a fan handy because you will lose yourself into these two characters. If you thought Chase love story was intense, Mira and Kellan are perhaps the hottest of them all. Young love, intense, hot and passionate. I loved it!...more

REVIEW: In the past, way before I started blogging I enjoyed books and stories of paranormal, especially if the stories included succubus and incubus, I think I liked them because of their naughty nature. However, I have noticed that there is never enough development on their character and story. Their characters are always lacking in substance. However, after reading Starved For Love, I am happy to see the curse has been broken.
Starved For Love is the story of succubus Pia Blyton. Pia is in her mid twenties; she has a spunky personality, she is loved by her family and she believes in marrying for love. Unfortunately for Pia that is also a problem. As a succubus Pia knows that love is not an option, in order for her to survive she has to maintain an array of lovers so she can draw energy from her sexual encounters.
I have read succubus stories in the past, this one is quite different because unlike the other stories I read, the succubus is the main character. I enjoyed Pia, I liked her character, but I have reservations about her maturity. Though fascinating, her story felt awkward at times and even predictable. The story was entertaining but it dragged a little.
Though the story didn’t include any real action, the development was based on Pia’s journey to find the perfect man for her, one that she could love and establish a family like the one she grew with. The author did a nice job introducing these characters. One of my favorite was the vampire Zur-Sin. I would’ve liked to read more about him especially after learning he was Pia’s reason for being alive. I think the story is sweet, it just lacked development on certain characters but it also gave in-deep information about Mia’s struggles with her nature, men and love.
The story has hot and steamy sex scenes; they are descriptive enough to make the reader sweat. The male characters are extremely hot. There is an array of men in this book, from a hot and extremely sexy incubus and shifters to big and bad vampires and demons. This story has all the elements to make an enjoyable sexy paranormal read. However, be warned that you will not find a lot of drama or action. The story is based on Pia’s struggles with men and love. It is enjoyable, but do not expect kick-ass action.

Review: Cynthia Eden has a knack for writing great stories. Angel Betrayed is book # 2 in her Fallen Series. The story and characters are great, it isn’t often I enjoy angel stories but she has done a really good job creating a compelling plot and interesting characters.
As an angel of death, Sammael (Sam)’s job is to watch, watch how innocent people die. His job is to only take the souls without interference. He gives them peace after their suffering but he has gotten tired of just watching, he now has to do something to stop it. But his actions cost him greatly.
Sam is a fallen, and he has adjusted to his new life. He has adjusted quite well; he has created a reputation among the “others” and that serves him well. I can’t begin to say how much I enjoy reading about Sam. He is sin at its best; the angel is hot, smart and a total badass. His uncanny way of handling his “business” is what has kept him alive for the main purpose of making his brother pay.
Seline is a succubus and she has set her eyes on Sam. She knows the angel is dangerous but she can’t help feeling attracted to him. Her plan is to get Sam to fall for her so that she can win her freedom. Everything goes well until she starts falling for the enemy. The chemistry between Seline & Sam was instant. From the moment he saw her, he knew he had to have her. Seline enjoyed Sam’s attention what she didn’t know was that she would get more than she could bargain for.
I enjoy these characters, they are witty and funny. Their interaction & dialog was entertaining and felt real. The action was entertaining and made this read even more fun. There is plenty of sex, and tension between these two characters. There ingredients for a great series is there, love, action, kick-ass angels and awesome villains. I am looking forward to reading Book #1 of the series. We are given a taste of the relationship between Nichole & Kenan and it looks like their story is awesome. I am looking forward to reading it the next book....more

Review: Wicket Nights is the first installment of Gena Showalter’s new series Angels Of The Dark. Showalter has a knack for writing awesome paranormal romance. Her ability to create these fantastic characters and world doesn’t fail to amaze me. I enjoyed this new addition to her list so much I can’t find words to describe it. This series is just the perfect start to what promises to be another amazing series. What makes this book awesome? Quite a few things if you ask me. Sorry no spoilers!
The plot, when you have angels fighting evil there is a whole different level of action. Bring into the mix sexy angels and already smoking HOT demons. This story brings together a repertoire of characters that will put you on the edge of your seat. If you follow the LOTU series you are in for treat. Yes, there is plenty of drama, plenty fighting, plenty killing and saving, sacrifices and promises. There is love, there is kick ass heroes and a stubborn heroine whose struggles made her who she is, a kick-ass woman waiting to kick evil’s ass.
The characters, oh there is so much to say starting with Zacharel the unyielding and feared angel. His personality is awesome, he is sexy, strong, trustworthy, and a fierce warrior. He sees no difference in evil, demos and humans alike. A demon is a menace and for him a possessed human isn’t any different. His actions catch up to him though. Zacharel is the type of hero I enjoy reading about. He is strong yet understanding, he is ruthless yet tender. Anabelle is fierce in her own way, she had suffered more than many person would be able to withstand, but those struggles have made her hard, but haven’t break her. She is strong, intelligent, sweet but behind all that hardness there is tenderness. She is awesome and the perfect mate for Zacharel.
Another awesome character is Thane, though Showalter doesn’t go much into his development we are able to get a hint of his importance in the series. We don’t get to see deep into his character, but he can certainly make an impression on the reader. His actions & his alliances make him the man he is. Koldo, oh Koldo, I can’t wait for his story next. He is such a mystery. His origin are confusing, his reasons are troubled and his future is shadowed. I equally loved all the other characters, they were all introduced nicely, not many details but just enough to spark curiosity. Their importance was noted and they added the necessary spark to keep the story interesting. This is definitely a page turner and one that you will not be able to put down until you are sated and until the last page turns into a blank.
If you are a fan of Gena Showalter you are in for a treat. Wicked Nights is the beginning of what I hope will be another awesome series. There is love, forgiveness, redemption and betrayal. I loved everything about this book; I am thankful to have read it before its release. I can’t thank Gena Showalter enough for giving me the opportunity. Awesome read highly recommend it. ...more

Review: Covet is one of the hottest novela I have read in the paranormal genre and it is not going be the last. Felicity Heaton knows how to make it hot and sensual. Covet is the story of Javier and Lilah a vampire and a human slave. Though the story is short is it one that could almost leave you hyperventilating.
The plot is entertaining, Javier felt enthralled by Lilah’s beauty from the moment he saw her. The story flows easily and it is fast paced. The conflicts, the drama and the character’s chemistry is well thought and developed.

The scenes and dialog are enticing and quite graphic. The Immortal Rules is an awesome mix of The Road & The Passage and I am Legend. No, I am not comparing, that isn’t the case. What I am trying to say is that the world Julie Kagawa has created is one that tests human nature to its limits and brings out the best and worst of humanity.
This story has awesome characters, fantastic plot and an outstanding writing style that will leave you craving for more. This isn’t your typical vampire love story; if you are looking for a Bell/Edward sort of situation, this isn’t the book for you.
This story is set in a post-apocalyptic US where humans have succumb to a virus that have threaten to destroy humanity and vampires alike. The plot is intense, enticing & engaging. It comes all together in a story that will keep you glued to the pages and you will not want to put it down. Mrs. Kagawa is able to create a world in which humans are considered cattle; their importance is that of an animal and a source of food. This is a story of survival, love, change & adaptability. I can safely say that the complexity of this story is what makes it different and amazing. I have yet to read a YA novel with the intensity level of The Immortal Rules. If you think The Passage, The Road & I am legend were amazing stories, then you will love The Immortal Rules.
(view spoiler)[ "It makes no difference who we are, where we come from. Princes, Masters and rabids alike, we are monsters, cut off from humanity. They will never trust us. They will never accept us. We hide in their midst and walk among them, but we are forever separate. Damned. Alone. You don’t understand now, but you will. There will come a time when the road before you splits, and you must decide your path. Will you choose to become a demon with a human face, or will you fight your demon until end of time, knowing you will forever struggle alone" (hide spoiler)]
The characters in the story are complex, mature & unique. Their interaction flows easily and their personality makes them intriguing. These characters are emotional, witty and caring. I totally love Allison and Zeke. It is easy to fall in-love with these two characters. Their nature brings them together but their differences push them apart. Mrs. Kagawa did a great job developing these characters; she is able to bring together all these characters that somehow complement one another. Their importance and relevance to the story are unique, each bringing the necessary spark and uniqueness that makes this story fantastic. When I came across The Goblin King Prequel I was quite excited to start. I am so glad I did. I totally got hooked on this story. It is different; it is engaging and totally great. The Goblin King Prequel is the introduction to the story, it gives a background and set the ground for what’s to come next.
I enjoyed because it is different from what I have been reading lately. This is the story of Eliza a teenage girl who called/summon on the Goblin out of desperate need after remembering her mother telling her stories about it. The Goblin King “Roan” was once human but after a curse he was forced to live in the Shadowlands.
When you have settings such as the Summerland which is a place of good and beauty, and you get introduced to its appositive the Shadowlands or place of darkness and evil, you can’t be help but look forward to the next book.
There is not much left to say but to recommend it. This is a short and great introduction to a great story, one that promises love, redemption and trust.

Hot Vampire Seduction is the short, sexy and enticing story of Aiden & Kelly. Aiden is a vampire warden and Kelly is a doctor in forensics. This is the 2ndbook in the Vampire Wardens Series. The story develops around the two many characters Aiden and Kelly. Aiden is the 2nd of three brothers. This story has reference to book 1 which may indicate it is a good idea to read them in order. That way one can have an understanding of the characters and the story.
This short story has an interesting plot; the warden is fighting against a new breed of werewolf by the name of Andre, who has developed a drug using a combination of werewolf blood and vampire which brings extreme pain in the absence of pleasure.
I like the two main characters, Aiden is a vampire who has had his share of pain. His has suffered a lot and knows that getting close to people isn’t smart since everyone always end up dead. His character is strong, intelligent and sexy. He isn’t the typical vampire male we get to read about in other books and stories. There is uniqueness to his character, perhaps his sensitivity, or just his character ability to bring emotions out of the reader.

Lover Reborn is book #10 of the Black Dagger Brotherhood and one of the most expected books in the series. As many other readers, I was looking forward to get my hands on this book. The wait is finally over. I admit I don’t really know where to start; it is safe to say that I was left in such a state that I almost didn’t write this review. I was left with more questions than answers and with the feeling that I was missing something. I’ll try to leave spoilers out.
A little background about Tohr: Tohr, as we know lost his shellan and unborn child. All throughout earlier books we see his character struggle while trying to find the means to keep on living after such a great loss.
Lover Reborn is the story of Tohr and NoOne and a great addition to the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series. In this installment of the BDB, there is a lot going on. Lover Reborn brings excitement and it certainly doesn’t fall short in the action. I usually enjoy how comical and “real” some of the scenes feel. J.R. as usual has a knack for writing humorous scenes and she does it well. The action in this book isn’t lacking, there is plenty of fighting and as usual the sex scenes keeps this read quite HOT.
There are a few things I loved about the book, one being that we get to know a lot more about Lassiter. In this book we can now understand a lot more of what his purpose is and what he needs to accomplished. J.R. did an outstanding job with his character. His character is likeable; funny, stubborn, gentle, and he is such a smartass. So far Lassiter is one of the greatest addition to the repertoire. Another great addition is Assail, I am totally hooked on this new intriguing and fascinating character. Though we don’t know much about him yet, I know this character is going to bring the necessary a most needed spark to keep the series interesting and engaging.
This book was not so much about Torh and NoOne, but a compilation of struggles between John & Xhex, Qhuinn – Blay & Layla, and the attempt for domination by Band of Bastards. I would’ve liked No’One and Tohr relationship to be kept a bit more casual, that way they would’ve given the opportunity to build a foundation and work on their relationship.
As usual, the interaction between the brothers flows easily however I felt that some parts of the story were forced onto the reader. I struggle somewhat with the dialog, I had to keep flipping pages and there was an instance when I had to put the book down and walk away. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing; but the vocabulary and dialog between characters can get confusing. What I find a bit disappointing is the back and forth between characters whose relationship was somewhat already established.
I was never a fan of John & Xhex, I found them frustrating and annoying but I understand that’s part of the drama needed to make a good story. I didn’t shed any tears, but I was touched by how well-developed some scenes were and how touching J.R.’s writing can be. The culmination to Qhuinn – Blay & Layla’s situation is one I am looking forward to read, bringing along the Band of Bastards and their impact in the story. I am looking forward to the next book. I am hoping we don’t have to wait another year.
Overall, Lover Reborn is a great story, one that will certainly touch your heart, you may experience frustration and you will definitely laugh. The combination of all of those feelings makes Lover Reborn one of the most touching if not the most touching story of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Highly recommended but keep an open mind....more

I just finished reading Cycles by Lois D. Brown and the concept of the book is unique, interesting and one that will keep you turning pages. This book has an interesting plot. Regardless of how good of a reader you think you are you will not be able to guess the end.
The plot though a bit disturbing is also fascinating. I can’t help but compare this story to The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. I enjoy this book because of the different aspects that come to form what makes this story unique. It has a bit of everything, the paranormal keeps it interesting, the science behind it makes it fascinating and the mystery of an ancient tribe (The Ohlone) brings it all together.
The characters are young but they aren’t overwhelmingly childish. Mrs. Brown did a great job developing her characters. Renee & Sam are mature for their age but not overwhelmingly so. The story, as well as the characters is quite enjoyable. As the story develops so do the characters. Their fear, they needs as well as they wants is extraordinarily explored.
Lois D. Brown created a compelling story that shows the harsh reality of human nature and our need to conquer the unknown. A nice story intended for Young Adults....more

I came across this book a while ago but I recently decided to give it a try and I am quite happy I did. The result is this review. I struggled a bit trying to come up with the right words to describe how much I enjoyed it.
The world Patti Roberts has created is different from any other paranormal/fantasy book I read. We are introduced to a variety of stories/flash backs that somehow all relate to one another. Patti’s take on angels & vampires is unique; her creativity is what I find most refreshing.
The characters are complex, unique & powerful, yet they are able to experience emotions and situations that one can easily relate to. The drama, the power-hungry villain and the deception are just some of the things that make this story amazing. The story feels believable, the characters interaction is well-played and their nature well explained.
Mrs. Roberts is able to bring unexpected reactions and emotions from readers, I felt compelled to finish the book, I just couldn’t put it down. The mix of human emotions and the paranormal effect makes this a great introduction to what I think will be one of a kind series.
Paradox: The Angels Are Coming is complex, unique, emotional and fascinating. It certainly leaves you looking forward to book #2.

We usually associate chocolate and Valentine’s Day as two things that just simply go together. In Bloody Valentine, chocolate has a bloody flavor. Chocolate is the perfect way to attract the prey. Bailey is a teenager who despite her insecurities has an amazing ability and a nature that has been kept hidden from her. We are introduced to the story while Bailey is having a dream/nightmare.
“Not again,” I mumbled under my breath and shook my head. As so many times before, I was surrounded by a damp darkness that made it almost impossible to breathe. I searched around me. Pure blackness. I tugged at the lace nightgown, and it pulled on my skin uncomfortably. Unable to see a thing or to distinguish any shapes, I stretched out my arms and took a couple of tentative steps forward. I felt nothing. “Hello?” Although my voice was low and careful, unsure of who may be lurking in the darkness, it echoed fiercely. I stood still, scared of the effect my disturbance could cause. There was nothing but silence, and the stillness all around me was unsettling. With my arms outstretched, I began to make my way around, knowing from the strength of the echo I was in an enclosed space. There were cold and soft walls about ten feet apart from each other. Keeping one hand on a wall, I walked endlessly, never once stumbling upon anything.
I must say the introduction was what sparked my curiosity and once I started reading I just couldn’t stop. Right away you wonder, what is going to happen next? The story catches your interest as it develops nicely. The characters are fun, witty and cute – the twists and turns make the end even creepier. Bailey’s perfect boyfriend has a dark side, a side she felt compelled to discover. The spookiness behind the story was well thought; the idea of chocolate transforming people into creatures of the night is totally creepy. This is a very nice read with a good combination of dark magic, bloody sacrifices, horror, love and best of all chocolates. I call that the perfect combination. A perfect Bloody Valentine if you ask me, I just wish it was longer.

This is such a refreshing story/series. Willow and Alex are two of a kind in so many ways. Willow isOriginal review can be found at ReadingDiva's Blog
This is such a refreshing story/series. Willow and Alex are two of a kind in so many ways. Willow is half angel half human, and Alex is the assassin sent to kill her. Angel Burn is a story of love, survival and trust.
The Angels are coming, The Angels are coming! Angels have come to earth, but not for the reasons everyone believe. They are slowly killing humans. The angels’ world is dying, and they have come to earth because here they have found the solution to their survival. Angel burn is the mark left by angels after they have fed from a human. They leave a distinctive signature on their prey, and the consequences are fatal.
I have read stories about angels before, however the angels in this story are far from peaceful. They allure their victims with their beauty and the feeling of peace and love. However, as they feed from their prey (Humans) they take away their essence and life. The angels are on a mission to make humans and earth their feeding ground, they have a plan, and that plan can destroy humanity.
Willow is a teenager that found herself involved in a world she wouldn’t have imagine. I enjoyed reading about Willow. Her character is smart, talented, pretty and loving. Her love for her mom is heartfelt. I enjoyed her character because she isn’t a typical teenager, yes she has insecurities as any other, but she is able to manage them and use them on her favor. Her character was very mature.
Alex, there is a lot to say about him as well. He was brought into adulthood by his father, whose job was to train others on becoming angel hunters/killers. He was one of the first to learn about the Angels existence. Alex has suffered loss in many ways, he lost his mother, father and his brother. I liked how the author was able to create Alex’s character as a young man who has gone through very difficult times, yet he has been able to maintain a pure heart. His maturity & wisdom is what I find attractive about his character.
Angel Burn has a great plot, the characters are smart, unique and interesting. Angel Burn is a wild ride filled with strong emotions. The twist and turns add excitement and uniqueness to the story. L.A. Weatherly did a really great job, the characters are well developed and one can’t stop from falling in-love with Willow and Alex. This is one of those stories that will keep you turning pages after pages....more

Lothaire is book number #10 of the IAD series by Kresley Cole. I was so excited when I was able to finally start reading such an anticipated book, the tension, the stress and the eagerness all disappear the moment I was able to sit down and start reading.
Lothaire was is a wild ride. A story filled with raw emotions, desires, love and action. Those who follow Kresley Cole’s series are quite familiar with Lothaire and his reputation within the lore. Lothaire – Enemy of Old is perhaps one of those few characters in IAD series that has touched every character’s life in one way or another. He is known to be one of the most feared Vampires of the lore and one who is almost impossible to kill.
I find his character fascinating, not just because he is portrait as an evil vampire who isn’t capable of love, but because he is intelligent, sarcastic and sometimes even funny. Elizabeth was such much fun to read as well. She is young, matured, hard worker, stubborn and loving. She is the opposite of Lothaire. Her character is strong; compassionate, caring and she does what no one else in the Lore is capable of doing – make Lothaire fall in love, admit his mistakes and actually help others. Though their conflict is constant, she is able to bend his rules and his will.
Lothaire’s character is everything I expected him to be, evil, and possessive, dominant, abusive, intelligent, mental and extremely sexy.
We are also introduced to new characters; and whole new territory within the Lore, the world of the Dacian which many believe to be a myth, and its location unknown. I am looking forward to see what the next book brings, perhaps it will focus on those new characters we were introduced to. I would like to see what happens with “hag – Balery”, Thaddeus and some of the other Dacian vampires mentioned in the book.
I enjoyed the book very much, I loved the plot & the characters were fascinating. I enjoyed how Mrs. Cole is able to manipulate Lothaire’s nature to create such an entertaining read. The world that Kresley Cole has created is filled with adventure, action, sex and love. The men are hot and intelligent, and the women are sensitive and beautiful.
I totally recommend it, it is a wild ride filled with hot sexual scenes, action, love, compassion and understanding.

As far as the characters: There is so much to say about them, Lara Adrian’s characters are often more than some of us can handle. Chase hasn’t been one of the favorites within the breed but he is however one of the most intriguing characters in the series. His character is one we have come to love & hate and one that has been struggling for a long time. Mrs. Adrian not just creates a complex & dark character but also manages to make him intelligent, sensitive and very sexy.
Darker After Night is an action packed, sexy and enticing story. Lara Adrian’s wild imagination and creativity is amazing. The story is fast pace, the characters are a sweet treat and the suspense is nerve wracking. The amount of action in this story is the perfect ingredient to create one of the kind story that compels you to read, to think and to dive head first into a world of passion, love, sacrifices & triumph.
The battle between the Order and Dragos is nonstop. There is a whole new level of obstacles in this story. If you think you have seen everything of Dragos plans think again. The twists and turns will keep you on edge and the new discoveries are gripping.
The story flows beautifully; there is not a moment when the characters or the plot feels forced or rushed. Lara Adrian has proven once again to be one of a kind author.

This novella is all about Danica and how she comes to understand that second chances do exist. Her character as we learned from the series has always been regal, tasteful and strong.
Lara Adrian does an amazing job when portraying her characters. I am glad to see she didn’t forget about Danica who we have become to like just as much as the other Breedmates in the series.
I like this novella because though it is short it stays true to the series while it maintains its uniqueness and flow. This story as the others has strong & intelligent characters. It has a great plot that will leave you asking for more.
Though Lara introduces a new character, she is able to give us a glimpse of his future and development within the series leaving us with the understanding that there is a lot more to come. When Juliana is attacked by Ana at the end of a shift, her whole life changes forever.
Juliana is a very strong independent person who loved her life before the attack. When she discovers that she is now a vampire her main focus is protecting the family that she will no longer be able to see and to provide them with some closure over her disappearance. To be able to do this she has to put aside her feelings about her sire and ask for her help. Ana wants to do her best by Juliana and so is willing to help any way that she can in providing the closure that Juliana needs.
Ana comes across as quite a cold emotionless person at the beginning of the book. As the story progresses we get to learn more about Ana and it becomes apparent that she has feelings for Juliana and that these are confusing to her. She tries to protect Juliana but as this is her first experience as a sire, she finds that things are more complicated and difficult than she first expected and this contributes to some bad feeling between Ana and Juliana.
I found the characters easy to connect with and I was experiencing the ups and downs along the way with them. This is really important to me in as story as if I find it difficult to connect with at least one of the characters I don’t believe in the story as much. I have high hopes for the relationship between Juliana and William as the series progress but I did find that I was a bit disappointed that Juliana appeared to move on so quickly even though she said she still loved her husband and always would. But the connection that the two seemed to experience felt more like a “fated bond” and helped to push aside any doubts about the swiftness of their relationship. Read more here... ...more
