I really enjoyed Meyer's take on vampires and it is a page turner that turned my house upside down while I had to finish the whole series in one chunk. Edward is the reason I adored it. (less)

After reading Twilight and HON series this is right behind Twilight as a fav. Paranormal series for me, because I so fell in love with Edward and Jacob. I think I'm loveing Oliver in this series here still unsure of Jack. I was left hanging in Maquerade at the end so I'm glad I started this series after the third book was published! Whew, That would have been a very difficult wait. I know that Melissa really did her homework on these novels, it would be tuff to pull off all the elements that pull this off. Such as language, fashion, history of many ages, quotes and some religous references that go into writting these, very impressed for a YA book, I could recommend for my daughter! Thanks Laurel!!(less)

I was underestimating this book as a trashy vamp read, Who knows maybe that is what it is. LOL! I guess I got sucked(literally)into this. (He-He) There were some things I thought were out of style that made me cringe: Banana clips,Scrunches for the hair EWW! I guess That seemed out of style knowing this book came out in 2001. I want to hold a sacred burning of BANANA CLIPS!!! I thought living in the middle of nowhere like I do(NEBRASKA)that I could accept these style gags, NOPE. Even explaining her outfits made me think why would a cute young gal wear this crap. Anyways, I saw past this and loved the book. Her vamp boyfriend even had some likeness to my favorite blood sucker EDWARD(sigh). WARNING!! Was a very adult book so don't leave it laying about for you're young teens to read. I am ready for more of this series. Hmmmm.... maybe she'll even know how to dress better further along?? O_O I'll stop obsessing over style choice and enjoy this series for the shear fun of reading. I can't believe I never heard of it till this summer and had to pick it up. It sat on my shelf for months as I collected the set even though I hadn't read a one! Could have turned out to be a big mistake! I'm so glad it wasn't. At first I thought the author was showing off with all the sass and witty comebacks then found myself laughing out loud and loving the wit. Full of action, adventure and most unusual characters. Great fantasy and easy to follow and read. Great books to disappear into when life is stressful, as mine was these past few weeks so thankful for the escape didn't think I'd be able to and was swept away. I read some of the most romantic lines written in this that took my breath away at some points and made me wish I could jump in and be Clary *sigh* I have heard there is a possable 4th book in this series but this one made me feel resolved and feel like the end with a few possablities lingering as an afterthought hmmmmm.... Of course if the story continues as most do I'll be at the book signing with my I heart Jace T-shirt on and runes tattooed down my arms!!! Yep that would be a blast 37 year old woman acting my age for a change :) (less)

I'm really looking forward to reading more of this series and any book Cassandra Clare touches!! Pick it up too much fun not to share!! (less)

This would be a prefect read for anyone that loves Harry Potter or the Twilight series. I am facinated with this world created by Clare, was going into this with low expectations but had a thrilling adventure. I'm no book snob by any means I read so many differn't styles but I can't wait to give this book to my Harry Potter loving friends and tell them they have to read this. Full of danger, fantasy, adventure, unrequited love, torment, sass and as soon as I expect to know whats going to happen something new happens! Claire is showing off....lol! (less)

Lucian writes to his wicked uncle back in Romania and the letters were the icing on the cake laced with old style words that ozzed with a time of class and sophistication. It showed two cultures as they clashed, adapted and converged in to a page turning climax.
I really enjoyed the fresh take on vampire romance and the symbolism of the classic Wuthering Heights one of my favorite books of heartless, cruel, bitter, evil love as Fantaskey writes. I always love reading books that inspire myself and others to other books and music.
I must admit there is a great heroine in this mythic tale than what is hip right now (The swooning, edgy, clumbsy, wimpy girl that wins her dark diabolical undead) I like this girl she is portrayed with strong values, she is older (17 turning 18) therefore old enough to make adult chocies and she actually isn't buying into the vampire prince's confession, that he betrothed to her and she is a vampire princess he is sent to fetch for power. She just wants to be a normal teen and maybe someday marry a hunky guy-next-door type, go to college and fall in love the old fashion way. I was refreashing to read a YA book where the teen actually respects her hippy granola parents. I'm not saying she is a saint she has raging hormones and secrets being revealed to her that most normal teens don't go through.
Isn't it fun though when a character so driven to go one way finds out there is a life for them so much richer and fuller than what they ever planned if they are willing to take the ultimate chance? Entertaining page turing read. (less)

It was intriguing and the artistic use of lauguage was beautiful. That being said it did get lengthy with useless details at times. I enjoyed the last 200 pages the most it picked up pace towards the end although I was disapointed in the ending. As I would get into a fluster and the action would start to peek and get intense. Then I wanted details and it would be so concise and brief. The subject matter was a mystery about Paul finding a strange book that only had a dragon wood cut print in the middle pages with only one word printed on the clutches of the dragon on a banner. It sent him on a journey to save his university advisor with a beautiful woman from the fangs of the elusive Dracula. All while in present times their daughter was trying to locate her mother and father who are looking for eachother and to end the curse of Dracula himself. I loved how I learned so much about cold war Europe and with such an interesting twist. Made me wish to travel more and see these rare beautiful monasteries, The Szechenvi chain bridge, Topkapi Palace, Cities such as Istanbul, Sofia, Raila, Haskovo, Bucharest and of coarse Paris. (less)

Beautiful for the underlying bonds of friendship and simple love. Sinister for countless nasty villains and hooligans as I was forced into their sick heads. But, I must say it was a mesmerizing unforgettable tale and a must read for horror fans. I was flung on the edge of my reading chair throughout with a never ending sense of anticipation to see the evil get their "just deserts". If you enjoy a good chilling tale with gore and lore you well enjoy this Swedish authors mystique style haunt.(less)

Plot twists and outrageous characters from every walk of life or shall I say the grave?? Sookie sure dose get her ass whooped and still comes out as a pretty brave chick. This is a sexy little book but I think the first one was a bit naughtier than this one. I love the southern charm in Harris's books and humor. Would be a great series if you need a break from something serious and just want to kick back at the lake. Now I'll have to get book three!(less)

I could call parts of this book an aphrodisiac it becomes a hotbed and may cause heart palpitations and an afterglow! I could assume some seasoned vampire lore readers will want to pick this story apart for some of the classic laws of vampire lifestyle turned upside down. Ward kept me enticed with her take and made me almost turn nocturnal with short chapteritis. I would think after this little chapter I will shut the book and shut my eyes, but I would continue with just one more and it would lead to another and so on. So now I am on the prowl for more stories about the Brotherhood and wish I could materialize into the bookstore right now so the next book in the series would be in my hands right now. I could very easily purr in the arms of any of these brothers and really want to know how each member faces their inner demons and finds a "Leelan" of their very own.....ME!!! (less)
