Her novels always suck me in so completely. I've had the opportunity to review several of her novels and have loved every single one of them. She is definitely a writer that I'm going to be keeping tabs on.
I helped Annie with this book by providing a light copyedit. However, as I was going along, I found myself having to remind myself not to get caught up in the story and to keep editing.
Her characters are brilliantly developed, her plot is beautiful, and the pacing is excellent.
This is the second book in a series that I both love and recommend. This one is definitely worth reading. ...more

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: Wow! Just wow! That's all I really need to say about this book. I adored everything about this book. It is easily one of my favorites of the year.
I feel like the synopsis accurately describes maybe 18% of the novel if not less. In the first thirty pages, Dr. Pavlov does discover two bodies perfectly preserved in permafrost that leads to her discovery of the Romanov conspiracy; however, most of the novel is told as if the characters from 1918 were telling the story themselves.
The first thirty pages were great, but not spectacular. The rest of the novel was mind-blowing.
I absolutely adored the story that Meade created because it was gripping, compelling, and addicting. I didn't just devour this book, the novel consumed me. I couldn't think of anything else. I read for hours and then realized I hadn't eaten all day. However, I couldn't stop reading.
I loved all of the characters in this novel. I won't take the time to list them. But they all seemed so realistic. They didn't all get the happy ending I wanted them to have either, which made Meade's novel more realistic and also more heart-breaking.
I could gush about this book for hours. But I'm just going to say I adored this book. Don't just read this one, buy this one. You will absolutely adore it. I love mystery, thriller, action books and this book ranks among the best I've ever read.
In Summary: I can't find the words to adequately express how truly incredible this book is. This book consumed me. I couldn't think of anything else. Definitely worth buying.
The Wrap-up: This book was one that I was sad to finish. It was so incredible that I couldn't bear the thought of parting with it. I will definitely be stalking...I mean keeping tabs on...this author. In case you can't tell, I LOVE LOVE LOVED this novel. Go buy it right now!

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: First of all, I love Italy, and so the second I heard this took place in Rome, I knew I had to read this one. Plus the mafia is involved...come on...how can you not read this one?
Leonard exceeded my expectations in every manner possible. I was stunned by the depth in the plot, the characters, and in the writing style. His writing was compelling, intriguing, and never boring. He masterfully weaved several different story arcs together into one action-packed novel that had my heart racing. Beautiful prose to say the least.
As for the characters, they were all so brilliantly crafted. Often when I read suspense, I feel like the characters are flat. This was not the case with this novel. Every single one of these characters (and no I'm not exaggerating) left me impressed. I absolutely adored McCabe and Angela in particular. Their interactions were amusing, thrilling, and had me frantically turning pages to see how their story ended.
As for the whole Sharon, Ray, and Joey angle, I usually have no tolerance for people who cheat. However, I found myself thoroughly intrigued by their relationship and couldn't help but wonder how everything I would turn out. A girl married to a Special Service man and having an affair with a mobster. Intriguing, horrible, but thoroughly intriguing.
This novel was one of the better thriller/mystery/suspense novels I've read in a long time. Like I mentioned earlier, the writing seemed to flow so well and the plot development was brilliantly done.
In Summary: A fast read with a killer plot line that left me thoroughly entranced from the very first page to the very last. Brilliant characters...plus it takes place in Italy and involved the Mafia. What more could you ask for?
Warnings/Side-notes: Several instances of strong language, but not excessive use. Sexual references were very common. They were a little more detailed than some books I've read, but they were still not very detailed. (See the excerpt. It mentions sex like this frequently, but isn't really detailed.)
The Wrap-up: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I read in a manner of hours and intrigued the entire time. Every moment of this book seemed to flow together so nicely and in a way that compelled me to keep reading. Plus, I loved the characters. At the beginning, I found the jumps between characters and the flashes to the past a little confusing. However, I quickly caught on and became swept away in the story. An intriguing read to say the least. Definitely recommended.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I love this genre and so I went into this novel with high expectations I was expecting to find a story that drew me in and kept me anxiously turning the pages.I haven't read the first two in the series, but I never felt lost.
And Reina delivered. She created a novel that immediately caught my interest and kept me thoroughly entertained until the last page. I found myself racing to solve the crime and figure out exactly what was going on. The prose was fantastic. There were a few errors I caught, but on the whole the prose flowed seamlessly.
Plus, she managed to create complex characters who I loved reading about. Teresa was a character that you couldn't help but love even though she could be selfish and snobby. And I absolutely adored Pavel. He was definitely one intriguing character. I thoroughly enjoyed watching him and Teresa interact with one another.
And now let's talk about the plot line, Reina did a fantastic job at creating a story that drew me in. There were so many different elements that she masterfully wove together. Definitely a novel that kept me turning the pages.
In Summary: A fast pace suspense novel that left me turning the pages faster and faster. Reina crafts a compelling story with dimensional characters that you can't help but fall in love with.
Warnings/Side-notes: Minor swear words appear often and strong language appears a few times. References to drugs, alocohol, and sex. However, the sexual references are fairly vague and aren't very detailed. Definitely for more mature readers, but not crude in any way.
The Wrap-up: I was not prepared for the end. I won't say much more, because I don't want to give anything away. I feel torn about what happened. I love the novel so much and yet the ending seemed sudden. However, having said that, I still like this novel very much.
Despite the few errors I saw in this book, the book left me thoroughly intrigued. Definitely recommend this!

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions:
I went into this story blind. I had no idea what to expect and hadn't really heard anything about it. But it was a suspense/thriller novel. If you know me, you know I love this genre. Plus, it was about planes. I have an odd fascination with planes.
I started reading and was stunned when the novel opened with the murder of protagonist Frank Braden's borther thirty years ago in Vietnam. He then launched into a vivid and intense attempt to keep a plane hit with a bomb from crashing and killing the hundred passengers onboard.
But instead of being a hero, the FBI accuses Frank of being a suicide bomber who wanted to make a statement with his death. Somebody out there wants Frank dead and there is a time bomb ticking. They need him dead sooner rather than later.
As this unknown assailant attacks Frank, he must prove to the FBI and even to his wife that somebody wants him dead and that he's not trying to commit suicide.
I love thriller novels. Ebbers' novel read quickly and kept me riveted. I found myself thoroughly engaged as I tried to untangle the plot line and figure out what was going to happen next. If you love engaging novels that leave you breathless, read this one.
The writing was solid and I loved the characters. I gave this a 3.5 because while it was a great read I still felt like the plot could have been more developed. It was thoroughly engaging, but it missed that extra something to bump this up to a 4 star book. I still really liked this book and recommend reading it, especially if you love history and novels about Vietnam.
The way Ebbers' interwove the Vietnam war into his current day novel was incredible. Definitely recommend to history buffs like I said earlier.
In Summary: A well-written thriller novel that brilliantly interweaves the horrors that occurred during Vietnam with the current day. A novel that is bound to leave you on your feet.
Warnings/Side-notes: One or two instances of strong language. Violence, but it's not graphic. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this one based on content.
The Wrap-up: A very enjoyable read. I read this one in one sitting and was thoroughly entertained the entire time. I love this genre and read a lot in this genre. However, this novel was still an enjoyable read. I'm thrilled that I got the chance to read this one.

Disclaimers: I received a temporary e-galley from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I didn't know this was a sequel until I had finished reading this one so you can definitely read it as a stand-alone novel.
I'll admit to being curious to see what happens in the first one now. I'll have to go back and read that one.
But let's get into what I thought of this book. I picked it up because it was a bout journalism and I'm a journalist (granted I'm on the print side not broadcasting).
I didn't have high expectations for this novel. I liked the idea of a secret society being formed and figured it would be interesting. What I didn't expect was the secret society to be actually dangerous and so creepy.
Tanzman's writing style drew me in and I loved the characters. I loved Val. She was so intense that she was sometimes narrow-minded but I loved watching her interact with her friends and then of course her ex Jagger. I'm definitely a Jagger fan. He was a bad boy who was not really a bad boy.
I don't know why I love characters like that so much I just do.
The plot was slightly predictable and I felt like that the police and the faculty should have stepped in much sooner. In that regard, I found the plot slightly unrealistic. These pranks weren't so innocent and were more crimes than pranks. They should have stepped in more forcefully and much sooner.
But having said that, Carol created a thrilling tale full of suspense and while I had unraveled the plot very early it was still a compelling read. My heart was racing while I watched Val recklessly track this story.
In horror movies, there are always the moments where you want to scream at the protagonist "don't go into the creepy dark basement" "don't open the closet." While reading this book, I had those moments several times.
I still thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Carol's characters were compelling. The writing was for the most part very well done. Definitely an enjoyable read. It was entertaining and suspenseful. However, it lacked that extra something to push it up to a book that I really loved.
I wouldn't reread this one or buy it since I've already read it, but wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to fans of this genre.
In Summary: Carol's novel presents a suspenseful and compelling read that mixes mystery with enough romance to make this a book I adored reading. Compelling characters juxtaposed with an intriguing plot will keep you turning pages until the very end.
The Wrap-up: This is the sequel but this acts as a stand-alone novel. Carol's writing was intriguing and I'll definitely be curious to see what she writes next. If you like mystery/suspense in the young adult genre, then I recommend this one to you.

11/16/14 finally was able to finish this. It was better than my original impression. Official review coming.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I absolutely adore Dee Henderson. I have literally read every book she has ever written and I'm not exaggerating. I was devastated when she didn't write a new novel for so long. Then came this new one. I immediately bought it and was so excited to read it. But I just couldn't. I found myself at page 60 and was disappointed. Then family emergencies took over and I never got to reading it....until now obviously.
I can't remember why I was so frustrated while reading this the first time because this time I absolutely loved it. The novel was well-written as one would expect from Dee Henderson. This was not my favorite novel by her, but it was still really well-written.
I enjoyed the characters and enjoyed watching them grow. The suspense was intriguing too.
Definitely a novel I'm glad I read and like I said I'm so glad Henderson is back in action.
So why 3.5 stars? I love Dee Henderson and have high expectations when it comes to her. This novel disappointed me a little bit, but I still really enjoyed it.
In Summary: In true Henderson fashion, Henderson spins a romantic suspense that will leave readers turning the pages until the very end.
Warnings/Side-notes: None safe for readers of all ages.
The Wrap-up: Loved this one. I can't wait to see what else she comes up with. Lovely read that comes recommended. It's Henderson, you can't possibly go wrong with something by her.
Before I get into my review, here's the summary that's Howard sent me:
After scattering her mother’s ashes in Vietnam, photojournalist Xandra Carrick comes home to New York to rebuild her life and career. When she experiences, in her darkroom, supernatural visions that reveal atrocities perpetrated by American soldiers during the Vietnam War, she finds herself entangled in a forty-year-old conspiracy that could bring the nation into political turmoil.
Launching headlong into a quest to learn the truth from her father, Peter Carrick, a Pulitzer Prize laureate who served as an embedded photographer during the war, she confronts him about a dark secret he has kept—a secret that has devastated their family. Her investigations lead her to her departed mother’s journal, which tells of love, spiritual awakening, and surviving the fall of Saigon. Pursued across the continent, Xandra comes face-to-face with powerful forces that will stop at nothing to prevent her from revealing the truth. But not before government agencies arrest her for murder, domestic terrorism, and an assassination attempt on the newly elected president of the United States. Darkroom is a riveting tale of suspense that tears the cover off the human struggle for truth in a world imprisoned by lies.
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: First off I'd like to Howard a division of Simon & Schuster for giving me a copy of this book to review in exchange for my honest opinions of the book.
Having said that, let's dive into my review. I came into this novel with absolutely no expectations other than the cover and synopsis sounded intriguing and slightly eerie.
Okay after five pages, I was absolutely hooked. This book caught my attention from the very beginning and I was captivated until I turned that last page. Graham's writing was incredible and he had the distinct ability to weave a story that left me in absolute suspense. I was constantly on the edge of my seat wondering how the story would evolve next.
Basically, this book never had a slow or dull moment and that is rare. I loved all of the characters (or loved to hate all the characters) from the moment I was introduced to them. In short, this book was absolutely incredible. I definitely recommend this to all fans of romantic suspense, especially christian romantic suspense.
This novel also combined some paranormal elements in the novel. I didn't know if I'd like that; however, it was integrated into the novel so expertly that I actually enjoyed the paranormal element. This was my first novel by Joshua Graham, but I can assure you it won't be the last. ...more

Having said that, let's get into my review. Ever since I saw the cover and read the synopsis, I knew that this was a book that I wanted to read. In other words, the premise left me absolutely enthralled.
How could she continue to live knowing that she was the one who was supposed to be kidnapped, but instead somebody else was?
I loved this novel. It was a fast-paced thriller that had my mind racing as I tried to solve the mystery and me trying to read as fast as possible so I could figure it out.
I started this at about midnight and stayed up until I had finished it. Any novel that results in lack of sleep is a good one. I loved the different perspectives in the story. The story was told from Gabie, Drew, Kayla, and the kidnapper. However, most of the book was told by Gabie as she is the central character.
I loved the characters in this novel, the plot, the writing style, and like I already mentioned the premise of the novel.
The novel centered on Gabie trying to come to grips with the knowledge that she didn't get kidnapped and yet she should have been; however, it also dealt with Kayla dealing with her kidnapper, as well as Drew's perspective and the kidnappers.
There was romance in the novel, but it was definitely not the focal point. I thought this one was very well-written. I wouldn't necessarily call myself a thriller guru by any means, but I think both readers who like thrillers and those who don't will like this one.
The suspense was nicely built and it left me intrigued until the very end. I might have liked to learn more about the kidnapper and his motives at the end, but I also sort of liked how it ended.
In Summary: A fast-paced thriller novel with a very intriguing premise and excellent writing. One that I really enjoyed reading....more

I had heard a lot of really good things about this book and so I was really excited to read this one. However besides knowing that people seemed to love it, I went in not really knowing all too much about this novel.
Although I might not have enjoyed this novel quite as much as other people I know, I will say that I really enjoyed this novel and am glad I read it. Robin's writing was incredible and she created a story that drew me in from the very beginning. Fans of suspense will love this novel.
I found the premise of this novel very original and very intriguing and I will give it points for that. I also loved the character Eli, which is weird since I don't think you were supposed to. I also never like Max and I think you were supposed to...so I must conclude I'm just weird.
Anyway, I loved how Robin created her characters. They were all three dimensional and I loved reading about them. However, despite how well-written this book was, there was something missing to really make this one stand out to me. If you want to read an enjoyable book in one sitting, I wouldn't recommend this one. This one requires more of an investment, but one I think is worth it. In short, if you see this at the library, check this out you won't regret it.
In Summary: An enjoyable novel, but one that I didn't absolutely love. Well-written, but it lacked something to make this really stand out. ...more
