Disclaimers: I received a temporary electronic copy of this novel from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks for letting me review this novel.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I will be honest. I really didn't expect to like this one all that much. I thought it would be cute but forgettable. I was dead wrong.
This book was hilariously funny and brilliantly written. I found myself laughing hysterically the entire time I read this novel. I love this era and I love it when I find a good book in the Napoleonic Era.
Imogene Devary has enough spunk to keep anybody's interest. And then there was Vaughn. I love a rogue who is really a good guy and that describes Vaughn perfectly. He wasn't society's perfect gentleman, yet he was a good guy who had his priorities right.
A novel full of intrigue, love, scandal, and betrayal set in the Regency era is bound to capture my attention. This one was hilarious, cute, and entertaining. I think fans of Austen and fans of this era in general will absolutely adore this book.
In Summary: Scott's writing is beautiful. She creates characters that capture the reader's attention and combines it with a wry sense of humor set against a Napoleonic era. I loved this novel and definitely recommend it.
The Wrap-up: I will definitely be reading more from this author. This was the first novel I've read by Scott and I can assure you it won't be the last. Check this one out. It's a cute read that I loved.

Disclaimers: I bought a copy of this novel and then found out it was on Netgalley. I requested it through Netgalley and that same day I got a copy in the mail.
Basically, I wanted to read it and then received a temporary e-galley from the publisher via Netgalley but I didn't read that copy. I'd still like to thank the publisher and Netgalley, however.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I love Irene Hannon. I've read every single one of her romantic suspense novels and have loved every single one of them.
However, when I saw the synopsis of this one, I was worried. I just didn't feel as drawn to this story. I bought it simply because it was Irene Hannon. I went in with low expectations.
I should have known better. This is Irene Hannon we're talking about. I absolutely adored this novel. Hannon's writing is always captivating. From the very first page, I was hooked. I stayed up super late and finished this in one setting because I just couldn't put it down.
The chemistry between Moira and and Cal was undeniable. Cal's wife had died five years ealier and he still wasn't over her and yet he couldn't deny his feelings for Moira. There was also the fact that she was a client and he doesn't get involved with clients.
The suspense was also intriguing. Even though, I figured out what was going on fairly early, its was still gripping. I love how Hannon lets you delve into the villain's mind and see his motives and rationale for his actions. It makes for an incredible read.
In Summary: Irene Hannon is a queen at suspense. She writes gripping stories that leave you on the edge of your seats and fills them with complex characters who practically spring off the pages. Hannon is easily one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
Warnings/Side-note: This novel isn't at all offensive and is quite clean. However, the subject matter is dark at times and targeted for adults. Teens could read these books and love them, but I wouldn't recommend them for young teens.
The Wrap-Up: A beautiful, gripping read that I devoured. Hannon is truly an incredible writer whom I adore. The Christian elements are never overdone. If you love romantic suspense, then give this one a shot. And if you love Christian romantic suspense, then this book as well as any by this author is for you.

Disclaimers: I received the sequel Shattered from Netgalley and loved it so much that I went back and bought this one. I absolutely loved this one and can't wait to reread Shattered and read more from this author.
An Overview of the Novel: Cole McKenna is often called in to help the police recover evidence on deep-sea dives, but the most recent dive has left him reeling. Two people were killed and they suspect murder was at play. One of the victims was alive when he rescued her, but dead by the time she got to the hospital. Even worse, that victim was Bailey's aunt. Bailey, the girl Cole had loved and the girl who had left breaking his heart in the process.
The last thing Bailey wants to do is return to Yancey. Her reputation in that town precedes her. It doesn't matter that she's changed and left that part of her in the past. The people of Yancey won't be able to see past that. And then there's Cole. She's not entirely sure she's ready to face him again.
But as Cole and Bailey work together to solve Bailey's aunt's murder will they be able to rekindle their old attractions for each other or will the murderer get to them first?
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I loved Shattered and so to say I had high expectations for Submerged is a vast understatement. I was expecting this novel to blow me away and it did.
It took me about ten pages before I was absolutely hooked. Dani Pettrey is the queen of suspense and in my mind ranks right up there with Irene Hannon and Dee Henderson and that is saying something because those two women are fantastic writers.
Dani set up the suspense in such a magnificent way. Her characterization was brilliant, the plot was gripping, and the writing was masterful. I still think my favorite character was Piper, who stars in the sequel, but I really enjoyed Cole and Bailey.
I loved learning more about their past and about what had led them to where they were today. Dani did an excellent job at not info dumping, but rather slowly revealed piece upon piece until readers had pieced together her plot and her characters.
Pettrey is an author that I will be keeping close tabs on. I can't wait to read more from her.
So Why 5 out of 5 stars? I was going to give this a 4.5 but balked at the idea because there was nothing about this book that deserved less than a 5 star rating. The characterization was great, the plot and suspense were masterfully built, the writing was brilliant, and the overall story was incredible. In short, everything made this a 5 star book.
In Summary: Dani Pettrey is a master at blending elements of romance, faith, and suspense together. Nothing ever felt forced. Pettrey's attention to detail made for a gripping plot and compelling characters. She just made me a life-long fan.
The Wrap-up: I love this author and both of her books have been magnificent. She's easily claimed a spot as one of my favorite authors. If you love romantic suspense, then pick up Submerged and Shattered today. Just trust me on this one.

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Disclaimers: I received an arc of this book from the publisher, Howard Books (a division of Simon and Schuster) in exchange for my honest opinion.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: Wow! Just wow! That's all I really need to say about this book. I adored everything about this book. It is easily one of my favorites of the year.
I feel like the synopsis accurately describes maybe 18% of the novel if not less. In the first thirty pages, Dr. Pavlov does discover two bodies perfectly preserved in permafrost that leads to her discovery of the Romanov conspiracy; however, most of the novel is told as if the characters from 1918 were telling the story themselves.
The first thirty pages were great, but not spectacular. The rest of the novel was mind-blowing.
I absolutely adored the story that Meade created because it was gripping, compelling, and addicting. I didn't just devour this book, the novel consumed me. I couldn't think of anything else. I read for hours and then realized I hadn't eaten all day. However, I couldn't stop reading.
I loved all of the characters in this novel. I won't take the time to list them. But they all seemed so realistic. They didn't all get the happy ending I wanted them to have either, which made Meade's novel more realistic and also more heart-breaking.
I could gush about this book for hours. But I'm just going to say I adored this book. Don't just read this one, buy this one. You will absolutely adore it. I love mystery, thriller, action books and this book ranks among the best I've ever read.
In Summary: I can't find the words to adequately express how truly incredible this book is. This book consumed me. I couldn't think of anything else. Definitely worth buying.
The Wrap-up: This book was one that I was sad to finish. It was so incredible that I couldn't bear the thought of parting with it. I will definitely be stalking...I mean keeping tabs on...this author. In case you can't tell, I LOVE LOVE LOVED this novel. Go buy it right now!

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: First of all, I love Italy, and so the second I heard this took place in Rome, I knew I had to read this one. Plus the mafia is involved...come on...how can you not read this one?
Leonard exceeded my expectations in every manner possible. I was stunned by the depth in the plot, the characters, and in the writing style. His writing was compelling, intriguing, and never boring. He masterfully weaved several different story arcs together into one action-packed novel that had my heart racing. Beautiful prose to say the least.
As for the characters, they were all so brilliantly crafted. Often when I read suspense, I feel like the characters are flat. This was not the case with this novel. Every single one of these characters (and no I'm not exaggerating) left me impressed. I absolutely adored McCabe and Angela in particular. Their interactions were amusing, thrilling, and had me frantically turning pages to see how their story ended.
As for the whole Sharon, Ray, and Joey angle, I usually have no tolerance for people who cheat. However, I found myself thoroughly intrigued by their relationship and couldn't help but wonder how everything I would turn out. A girl married to a Special Service man and having an affair with a mobster. Intriguing, horrible, but thoroughly intriguing.
This novel was one of the better thriller/mystery/suspense novels I've read in a long time. Like I mentioned earlier, the writing seemed to flow so well and the plot development was brilliantly done.
In Summary: A fast read with a killer plot line that left me thoroughly entranced from the very first page to the very last. Brilliant characters...plus it takes place in Italy and involved the Mafia. What more could you ask for?
Warnings/Side-notes: Several instances of strong language, but not excessive use. Sexual references were very common. They were a little more detailed than some books I've read, but they were still not very detailed. (See the excerpt. It mentions sex like this frequently, but isn't really detailed.)
The Wrap-up: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I read in a manner of hours and intrigued the entire time. Every moment of this book seemed to flow together so nicely and in a way that compelled me to keep reading. Plus, I loved the characters. At the beginning, I found the jumps between characters and the flashes to the past a little confusing. However, I quickly caught on and became swept away in the story. An intriguing read to say the least. Definitely recommended.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I love this genre and so I went into this novel with high expectations I was expecting to find a story that drew me in and kept me anxiously turning the pages.I haven't read the first two in the series, but I never felt lost.
And Reina delivered. She created a novel that immediately caught my interest and kept me thoroughly entertained until the last page. I found myself racing to solve the crime and figure out exactly what was going on. The prose was fantastic. There were a few errors I caught, but on the whole the prose flowed seamlessly.
Plus, she managed to create complex characters who I loved reading about. Teresa was a character that you couldn't help but love even though she could be selfish and snobby. And I absolutely adored Pavel. He was definitely one intriguing character. I thoroughly enjoyed watching him and Teresa interact with one another.
And now let's talk about the plot line, Reina did a fantastic job at creating a story that drew me in. There were so many different elements that she masterfully wove together. Definitely a novel that kept me turning the pages.
In Summary: A fast pace suspense novel that left me turning the pages faster and faster. Reina crafts a compelling story with dimensional characters that you can't help but fall in love with.
Warnings/Side-notes: Minor swear words appear often and strong language appears a few times. References to drugs, alocohol, and sex. However, the sexual references are fairly vague and aren't very detailed. Definitely for more mature readers, but not crude in any way.
The Wrap-up: I was not prepared for the end. I won't say much more, because I don't want to give anything away. I feel torn about what happened. I love the novel so much and yet the ending seemed sudden. However, having said that, I still like this novel very much.
Despite the few errors I saw in this book, the book left me thoroughly intrigued. Definitely recommend this!

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: Juliet Moreau fell from grace and fell hard when her father was accused of scandal. He disappeared and nothing was ever proven. But it was enough to destroy her family's social status. Then her mother died and Juliet was left with nothing.
Now, at sixteen years old she works as maid for her father's old colleagues. She knows she's not going to get help from anybody. It's up to her to fend off unwanted advances. But when one takes it too far and she hears rumors that her father is alive, she sets out to find him.
When she runs into Montgomery, her father's old partner, and learns that her father is alive and practicing on an isolated island, she joins him and returns to her father.
What she finds there is enough to proof that the rumors about her father are true. Her father has went against science and is trying to replicate the creation of human life form. What Juliet finds is enough to repulse her, but it also is enough enough to fascinate her.
But when you have a father like Juliet's does that make her monster too?
Megan Shepherd's debut definitely caught my interest from the very beginning. I had no idea what to expect. I traditionally don't read this type of book, but this one just looked so gripping that I had to read it.
It didn't disappoint. Shepherd created a world that captivated me from page one and still has me captivated. I won't say anything about the ending other than to say it left me stunned and left me wanting more.
I've heard this book be described as both beautiful and heartbreaking and I couldn't agree more.
This book was such an intriguing tale of this story that has fascinated our culture for years. Shepherd's re-imagining will not disappoint. It had me turning the pages faster and faster. I caught most of the twists in the novel, but several left me stunned. This is one book that will leave you guessing from the first page to the last page.
So Why 4 Stars? So why 4 stars and not 5 or 3. I gave this book 4 stars because it was a memorable book. I'll remember reading this one long after I finished it. It was more memorable than several books I've read. However, it wasn't quite as memorable as some of the books I've read.
The writing was beautiful and made for an enjoyable book. I really liked it, but it lagged a little in the middle. Not enough to make me lose interest in a book, but enough to make it 4 stars and not 5.
In Summary: Megan Shepherd created an intriguing reimagining of this tale that will captivate and entertain. A beautiful yet heartbreaking book that will leave readers wanting more.
The Wrap-up: I actually enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. I thought I'd like it going into it, but I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. I recommend this book to both fans of sci-fi/thrillers and to those who normally shy away from this genre.
Disclaimers: I received a temporary e-galley from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I didn't know this was a sequel until I had finished reading this one so you can definitely read it as a stand-alone novel.
I'll admit to being curious to see what happens in the first one now. I'll have to go back and read that one.
But let's get into what I thought of this book. I picked it up because it was a bout journalism and I'm a journalist (granted I'm on the print side not broadcasting).
I didn't have high expectations for this novel. I liked the idea of a secret society being formed and figured it would be interesting. What I didn't expect was the secret society to be actually dangerous and so creepy.
Tanzman's writing style drew me in and I loved the characters. I loved Val. She was so intense that she was sometimes narrow-minded but I loved watching her interact with her friends and then of course her ex Jagger. I'm definitely a Jagger fan. He was a bad boy who was not really a bad boy.
I don't know why I love characters like that so much I just do.
The plot was slightly predictable and I felt like that the police and the faculty should have stepped in much sooner. In that regard, I found the plot slightly unrealistic. These pranks weren't so innocent and were more crimes than pranks. They should have stepped in more forcefully and much sooner.
But having said that, Carol created a thrilling tale full of suspense and while I had unraveled the plot very early it was still a compelling read. My heart was racing while I watched Val recklessly track this story.
In horror movies, there are always the moments where you want to scream at the protagonist "don't go into the creepy dark basement" "don't open the closet." While reading this book, I had those moments several times.
I still thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Carol's characters were compelling. The writing was for the most part very well done. Definitely an enjoyable read. It was entertaining and suspenseful. However, it lacked that extra something to push it up to a book that I really loved.
I wouldn't reread this one or buy it since I've already read it, but wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to fans of this genre.
In Summary: Carol's novel presents a suspenseful and compelling read that mixes mystery with enough romance to make this a book I adored reading. Compelling characters juxtaposed with an intriguing plot will keep you turning pages until the very end.
The Wrap-up: This is the sequel but this acts as a stand-alone novel. Carol's writing was intriguing and I'll definitely be curious to see what she writes next. If you like mystery/suspense in the young adult genre, then I recommend this one to you.
