The Characters: Kitty Doe was a character that I liked from the beginning. I haven't read the first in the series, so I don't know what she was like in the one. But I loved her in this one. She was a strong kick-butt character who wasn't afraid to do what she felt was right. I loved how she grew through the novel.
Benjy was a character that I don't actually feel all that close to. Maybe he was developed in the first book more, but in this one he just kind of was there. I wanted to know more about him. Instead, he felt like a character kind of brought in for certain scenes/moments and then pulled back out again.
Knox- now there's a complicated character. I won't give anything away, but he is one character that I'm dying to know more about. He feels much more developed than Benjy, and I really want to know more about him.
The secondary characters were well-developed as well. I greatly enjoyed watching them all interact.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: The actual writing of this novel was fantastic. I loved how Carter weaved her story. It was absolutely brilliant. I thought the novel was a very fast, engaging read. Like I said, I didn't read the first in the series, but she did a great job of making the story easy to understand and relate to still. I loved the world she created (or actually hated it, but found in really intriguing to read about.)
The novel read similar to many other dystopian novels I've read, but having said that, I did enjoy it still.
So why 4 stars? It stood out of the crowd. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.
Can I read the series out of order? I did and I didn't feel lost. Naturally, I'm assuming the story makes more sense if you read it in order, but I still loved this one without having read the first one in the series.
Warnings/Side-notes: Vague mentions to sex. There are no detailed scenes. There is also mild violence in this novel and vague mentions of nudity.
The Wrap-up: An enjoyable read. I definitely want to read the next in the series. I have mixed feelings going into the last one in the series. I really hope I don't end up hating it.

This book is one that I don't know if I can adequately describe.
Sophie Jordan tackled some deeply intense issues in this book but did so in a way that was not dark or disturbing. What if the government could predict who would kill somebody? What an intriguing plotline.
The characters were well-developed and I enjoyed watching Davy progress. This book was one that left me turning the pages faster and faster. I couldn't wait to get to the last page and figure out what would happen.
I honestly can't wait for the sequel to come out. This book comes highly recommended.
So why 5 stars? It was incredible! I felt the ending was rushed, but still 5 stars. I loved everything about this book.
In Summary: Readers won't want to miss this thrilling electric new novel by Sophie Jordan. It will leave readers wanting more.
Warnings/Side-notes: There is a lot of violence. It's not overly graphic, but it is there. There are also references (vaguely) to sex and assault. For 16+.
The Wrap-up: So glad I read this book. Seriously I went into this book with no expectations really. I was completely blown-away. This is the first book I've read by Sophie Jordan, but I can guarantee that it won't be the last.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I actually really enjoyed the book. I thought this book showed the development that we were all waiting to see in Tris and Four. I loved watching them grow. They faced many trials and both made stupid decisions, but I loved their progression and that was probably one of my favorite things about the book.
As for the ending, yes part of me hated it and yet the other half loved it. I found it to be quite profound for reasons I can't share here without spoiling the book. However, I will say that the ending was realistic and fit the story.
I loved the book. It was definitely a great read that I enjoyed immensely. Veronica Roth is an incredible writer and is amazing at developing her characters.
All and all this was an unforgettable read.
So why 4 stars? Because although I love the ending and book, the way the ending came seemed a tad bit rushed. For that I gave it a 4 and not a 5.
In Summary: A thrilling, beautifully written novel that will grip you until the very end.
Warnings/Side-notes: This book is one that I would recommend to anybody.
The Wrap-up: I loved this book. I really did, but I'm still furious about the end. Definitely worth reading. ...more

An Overview of the Novel: Liz is tired of running, but that's all she's ever known and she doesn't anticipate being able to stop running anytime soon. She's wanted by the government and by a rogue agency. And it's all because of that stupid accident. The one that caused her to be able to download people's minds after just one touch. One touch and she can know anything about them.
And yes the FBI and the rogue agency find that particular talent very useful. But when Liz moves to a small town, she makes friends for the first time. And she meets Carey, he's a guy who is different too. She starts gaining feelings for him. But can you really fall in love when you might have to pick up and move at any given moment.
Disclaimers: I received an electronic copy of this novel as part of the Reading Addiction Blog Tour team. I am not receiving any compensation for my review nor was I obligated to write a good review.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I actually really liked this one. I thought the synopsis sounded good and so I decided to give it a shot. What I didn't expect was to fall in love with this novel. From page one to the very end, I was hooked. I loved the characters and I loved the plot too.
I have read a lot of books about telepathy, but I really really liked this one. Dunman's writing forced me to become engaged in the text and left me wanting to turn the pages faster and faster.
This novel was a brilliant start to a series that I'm definitely going to be keeping tabs on. The whole idea of being able to download somebody's mind was a different twist than the telepathy books I'm used to and I found the idea to be really intriguing. I just loved everything about this one. Definitely recommend it.
In Summary: A brilliant book that caught my attention. This book had an interesting premise, great characters, and was impeccably written. I adored it.
Warnings/Side-notes: This book was actually very clean. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to even most the sensitive readers.
The Wrap-up: I really enjoyed this novel. I'll be honest I was hoping that this book would be a fun, enjoyable read, but I really didn't have that high of expectations for it. I was blown away by how much I loved it. ...more

I've waited so long to be able to finish this series. I loved the first two books in the series and so I was looking forward to reading this one.
I went in very apprehensive. Lately, third novels have been none for being terrible. I went it unable to fully breathe because I was so worried I would be disappointed.
I should have had more faith. Veronica Rossi's finish is incredible. I adored how she brought her series to a close. This will forever be one of my all-time favorite stories.
I love Perry and Aria and I enjoyed watching them grow and become stronger. Seriously Perry and Aria are some of my favorite characters.
You will not be disappointed. Highly recommend this series. You will be so glad you read them, but also sad that the series has closed. I personally can't wait to see what's next for Rossi.
So why 4 stars? While I loved it and it definitely stood out of the crowd, I just felt like it wasn't quite a 5 star rating. I felt like there were a few parts that were rushed. Definitely an epic finish.
In Summary: Rossi delivers in her final book in the series leaving readers spellbound until the very last page.
Warnings/Side-notes: There are references to sex but they are very vague. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this one.
The Wrap-up: Like I said, I can't wait to see what's next for Rossi. A great read. Please tell me, she's writing another series.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I was worried because I had read the other two in the series so long ago, but I remembered everything. I was worried about this book also because the last books in a dystopian series have been kind of a let-down lately.
I shouldn't have worried. This novel like all the others in the series was well-written. I loved how it switched back and forth between Hana and Lena. I loved watching their stories unfold. This novel was one that I really enjoyed and kept me turning the pages.
As for the ending, I was slightly disappointed because I wanted something more. It just kind of ended and lacked the closure I wanted, but the ending was well-written I guess.
Loved the book, but am sad about the ending and sad that the story has come to a close.
So why 4 stars? Because of the ending I knocked it to a 4. I just wanted a more concrete ending.
Can I read the series out of order? Not recommended.
The Wrap-up: An engaging read that sucked me into the story and I couldn't put it down until I finished.

An Overview of the Novel: West has been training to battle her Alt and to kill her. For only one of them can live. The other must die if the other is to survive. The better Alt will be privileged to get a job and is allowed to marry. After training your whole life, you can help you're the better person.
The government shows up at your doorstep and gives you thirty days to kill your alt. If both of you are alive after thirty days, you're both dead. You don't have a choice--kill or be killed.
But when West's brother dies helping their friend kill his Alt, West spirals out of control. Her whole family is dead and she refused to die too. One of them needs to survive.
She's trained her whole life but when she gets her assignment she suddenly realizes she's not ready to kill her Alt. She just can't bring herself to do it. She can't help but wonder if she really is the better Alt.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: Character development is one thing I look for in all of my novels and honestly as several others have pointed out we really didn't get to delve into the heads of the characters all that much. I couldn't understand half of the decisions West made, but yet somehow that really didn't matter.
The plot was so addicting and compelling and this premise drew me in so completely and absolutely. I had to keep turning the pages. I just honestly had no idea how this one was going to end.
There was a romantic angle in the book, but it really wasn't all that developed and was mostly on the periphery. I'm excited to see what happens in the sequel.
I'm trying really hard to give nothing away and yet still accurately express my thoughts concerning this book. Basically, I'd say that Chapman could have developed her characters more and that would have made me like the book better. However, I still really liked the book because of her writing style and how compelling the plot was. Definitely recommend to dystopian fans.
So why 4 out of 5 stars? I wished the characters had been better developed. If they had this book probably would have been a 5. It's a 4 because it definitely stood out in my mind. The plot was gripping and I loved the writing style.
In Summary: Elise Chapman's debut novel Dualed presents a compelling, intriguing, plot that will leave readers turning the pages faster and faster until they reach the end. One thing is for sure, Chapman knows how to come up with compelling ideas.
The Wrap-up: Chapman's world was just so dark and intriguing that it caught my attention. It's been awhile since I've read a dystopian novel as gripping as this one. If you don't care if the character development suffers slightly at expense of plot, then check this one out.

Her novels always suck me in so completely. I've had the opportunity to review several of her novels and have loved every single one of them. She is definitely a writer that I'm going to be keeping tabs on.
I helped Annie with this book by providing a light copyedit. However, as I was going along, I found myself having to remind myself not to get caught up in the story and to keep editing.
Her characters are brilliantly developed, her plot is beautiful, and the pacing is excellent.
This is the second book in a series that I both love and recommend. This one is definitely worth reading. ...more

My Disclaimers: I received an electronic copy of this book for review as part of the blog tour. I received no compensation for reviewing this book. However, Cami who sets up the blog was paid for her time in setting this tour up. Let me reiterate that the only compensation I got was the pleasure of reading this book.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: Okay wow! I read the synopsis and saw the cover and immediately knew I had to read this book. Then my jaded side came out. I thought there was no way this book could be as good as I was expecting. I was right.
It was much better than I ever could have imagined. From the moment I read the first page, I was hooked. Sarah's writing drew me in from the get-go. I've read a million dystopian books and I always worry they are going to start being identical.
Then I read books like this one and I realize why I love this genre so much. Sarah's novel was frightening in the fact that it seemed all too plausible. Her characters rang drew; her words were beautifully constructed; her book resonated within me.
I already mentioned that the characters seemed so realistic. They were complex and I found myself sympathizing with them. None of the characters seemed flat. Something that I loved.
Plus, there was a love triangle. How can you not like a book with a good love triangle? Okay, I know some people don't like a love triangle but I do. And this one was so well-crafted.
Normally, I can easily pick which guy I like—not the case with this novel. I could not choose which guy I liked better. Sometimes I just get angry with the girl and think she's an idiot for stringing two guys along. That was also not the case with this novel. Their relationships seemed so real and I found myself so torn.
I finally know who I am a fan of and I must admit the answer genuinely surprised me. I'm not going to say whose side I am on because I don't want to give anything away. But just know this love triangle is brilliant.
The combination of her compellingly realistic characters combined with a world so horrific and yet intriguing to create a novel that never seemed dragged on. The pacing was perfect and that ending...let's just say I definitely have to read the sequel.
It's been awhile since I've read a dystopian that I enjoyed this much. The last time was when I read Starters by Lissa Price. (not to suggest the books are similar, because they aren't.) Her book was original, realistic, and compelling.
Basically, this book, this series, and this author have just made their way up to the top of my list for the year.
In Summary: A beautifully horrific world, shockingly realistic characters, and a masterful prose combine to make Sarah Dalton's Blemished a dystopian novel that readers will adore. Destined to become a popular read.
Warnings/Side-notes: This novel was actually quite clean. There are some very very very vague references to sex; however, I would not hesitate to recommend this to anybody.
The Wrap-up: I really liked this novel. The dialogue rang true and the characters seemed so realistic as well. I didn't expect to love this novel as much as I did, but it blew me away. I for one can't wait to see what Dalton does next. ...more

Overview of the Novel: Alessa is just trying to keep it together. After her parents' death, she's ended up in a college that she didn't really want to go to. She loves her roommate, but she just can't get past the guy who keeps popping up in her dreams.
The only problem is that the figure in her dreams is a real person. She can't stop thinking about him. Everything she does makes her think of him and it's not healthy, but she can't move on past it.
But then Alessa is told a truth that turns her entire world upside down. Her life might just be nothing like she thought it was. And the guy she keeps seeing in her dreams might just not be a ghost.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I remember reading this synopsis and thinking "hmm sounds interesting. I should give this a go." I'm so glad I jumped on this tour. I actually really liked this novel.
It's marked as a blend of paranormal romance and scientific dystopian. An interesting combo that had me hooked and dying to read it.
Alessa was a character that I found really easy to connect with and I felt like Durante portrayed her and her love interest really well. The plot was really intriguing and the writing was solid.
I haven't read a novel quite like this one before and it made for a very entertaining read.
I do, however, feel like the pacing might have been a little paced. Everything seemed to happen so quickly. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I do feel like there were parts that could have been better developed.
However, having said that, I still really enjoyed the novel and am glad I read it.
I did have this moment of disconnect though. I just couldn't quite connect the first half to the second half. All of a sudden there was this huge shift and I didn't quite feel prepared for it.
So while the premise was intriguing and different, I wish the first half would have been more engaging and that the shift hadn't been so sudden.
However, I am curious to see what happens next, so I will be reading the sequel.
So why 3.5 out of 5 stars? Although the pacing was a little off at times and I felt like it Samantha could have slowed down and explained things more, I did genuinely like this novel. It was intriguing and different from most books I've read recently.
In Summary: An enjoyable novel that is imaginative and original. Samantha's novel offers a new approach to the popular genres of paranormal romance and sci-fi dystopia that readers will adore. A must-read.
The Wrap-up: I'm definitely intrigued to see what happens in the sequel. Samantha has created a world that I can't wait to decode. Check this out if you're in the mood for a wonderful dystopian/paranormal tale....more

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: This is the first novel I've ever read about angels and so I didn't know what to expect. The synopsis sounded intriguing and so I was excited to read it.
What I didn't expect was to be blown away. This was one of those novels that left me captivated from the very first to the very last page. Everything about this novel drew me in. The plot line was masterfully developed and compelling.
This novel was an incredibly interesting read in the fact that it mixed the dystopian and paranormal genres. The mix of these two genres made for one intriguing read.
Leigh's novel was incredibly fast-paced and full of intrigue that left me on my toes for the entire novel. Any novel that can do that is amazing in my book.
Additionally, I absolutely loved the characters. Chela was fascinating to read about and then there was Faris. I absolutely adored Faris. Actually, all of the characters in this novel were masterfully crafted.
I didn't expect this novel to be nearly as good as it was. I can't wait to see what happens in the sequel. This is definitely an author and a series that I'll be keeping my eyes on.
In Summary: An intriguing mix of dystopian and paranormal elements combined with brilliant writing and entertaining characters. Definitely a novel that I recommend.
Warnings/Side-notes: Some minor swearing, but other than that, this novel is clean.
The Wrap-up: I'm so glad I read this one. Leigh crafted a novel that was thoroughly entrancing. I fell in love with the characters and the writing style from the very beginning. A lovely read.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: WOW! This book left me absolutely stunned. I had high expectations going into this one. I mean reread the synopsis and try telling me it didn't catch your attention. I read the synopsis and felt tingles running down my spine.
The second I started reading this one I was prepared to be disappointed, I was prepared to realize I had set my expectations too high. But I wasn't expecting to be completely blown away.
Hands down this is the best book I've read in months. It had a slow beginning. After reading the first four pages, I wasn't really sure what to think. By page ten, I was hooked. By page fifty, I couldn't think of anything but reading. I kept flipping the pages faster and faster.
Jones' writing style was compelling and I adored the world and the characters she created. Cassie and Balik...definitely two of my favorite characters and I will admit I would definitely crush on Balik. I love love loved this book.
This was one of those books that I finished and an hour later still felt like I was in the world of Space Station Hope.
The ending was not a strong as I thought it would be, but it was still a strong ending that has left me dying to read the next in the series.
Dystopian fans will eat this novel up, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to any reader. Check this one out.
In Summary: One of the best novels I've read this year. The world Jones' created drew me in from the very beginning and left me captivated from the first page to the very last page. I definitely can't wait to see what Jones' does in the sequel. Read this one...you won't regret it.
Warnings/Side-notes: Only the most minor swearing. Other than that this novel is clean.
The Wrap-up: This book is AMAZING! Yes, that needed to be put in all-caps. I wasn't expecting to be blown away, but I was. Dystopian at its best. Easily, in my top ten of the year.
