I really tried to like Isaac. He was really such a funny guy! He cracked jokes that will have you rollin'! He wanted his dream of being a star comedian to come true so bad that he lost sight of what was going on around him. His first priority was himself. I found Isaac to be a very selfish person after the story got going. Remember, at first I really liked him. His problem is though that he had a one track mind---being a comedian no matter what the price. He wasn't thinking of what his girlfriend needed or his girls. He was determined he was gonna make it big. He said:
"Comedy has to be the way, he affirmed. It has to be what God intended for us to have a better life! "p. 29
His girlfriend Janna is in very bad health. She said it's okay for him to go, so why not go right? She was so unselfish that she wanted him to pursue his dreams while she stayed home with their girls. Janna said:
"When the Lord works on anyone, it‘s never an overnight process," Janna explained. "Just because we want everything right here, right now, doesn‘t mean that‘s His plan. God‘s at work. I can feel it. You may not be able to see it from the outside lookin‘ in, but from the inside lookin‘ out, it‘s there. So I‘m not stressin‘ whether Isaac is changin‘. I‘m not stressin‘ the hospital tomorrow. I‘m just keepin‘ my life and faith in God‘s hands.".........."I just have to believe. Everything works in God‘s favor if we just believe." p.64
This book was fast paced and I read it in one day. I really got immersed in the story. I didn't always like what was happening or how it ended, but I was just determined that Isaac was going to realize what he was doing and God would make it all right. When he started into drugs, it was hard to like what he was doing to himself and his family. I was trying to be optimistic like Janna. I was so glad that finally Isaac brought God into his life and when he realized that God doesn’t take things from us or do bad things to us. We do that to ourselves. When the pastor in the church was saying the message and Isaac went up to him, that was when I got chills. I know that addiction can really mess up a family. The addict doesn't realize the harm it can cause themselves and others until sometimes it's just too late.
Well done Rickey Teems II! You made me laugh with your wonderful sense of humor that I love! You made me mad when you went from what I had hoped to what is more realistic. You made me get teary eyed when you showed what can happen when you only think about what you want vs. thinking about what your family needs. It really did make me really stop and think about prayer. I believe in the power of prayer. I know my prayers will be answered, but only if I am willing to make some changes too. You can't keep making bad choices and expect everything to just float happily along....more

Her father never expressed love for her or his other children. Crime, drugs, and women were all he cared about. This set the wheels in motion for a life of feeling unloved. She finally met Trevor though, They had great sex, but he failed express in words that he loved her. She wasn't sure if she was just his fling or what she was. She had a man from her past named Nate, and he kept creaping into her mind too. Could she forget him? Does Trevor love her or will he drop her like yesterday's news?
Pete and Tiffany are also in the book. I can tell that Hope Lynette has a sense of humor from this quote:
His tongue turned out to be a thick limp piece of flesh. It tastes like mold. As I looked into his face I pulled back from his kiss. I noticed he had white polka dots on his tongue. Oh, hell no. That was too much for me. (page 10)
There was also Bethany. She is married to Bruce, but she has a past with Donald. Does she want to stay with Bruce or rekindle an old flame?
I can't forget about Dr. Bradford and Alice! I will let you read the book to see who they are and what happens with them!
You will have to read the book to find out how their lives all turn out. I'm going to tell you right now though that you will be glad that you read it! Don't worry, there are plenty of steamy sex scenes to keep your temperature hot!
Tha Bottom Line by Hope Lynette was like reading a soap opera. There are a lot of characters and they all had different issues going on. It kept the book very interesting. When I got to the end, I was thinking, "that's it"? I wanted to know what happened next! What happens with Trevor? I was so excited to hear that there is a part two coming out! You have me on pins and needles Hope Lynette wondering what happens! I highly recommend this book.

Damien finds his girlfriend Crystal in bed with another man. It breaks his heart and he doesn’t think he can ever love again. His friend Mookie has a plan though, a “starting five”. It’s kind of like a basketball game of love. The women are the players and if they don’t play the way he wants, he can bench them and move on to the next. This seems to work pretty good for Damien for a while, but then Crystal pops up again. Then there is Nicole she was in a sexless marriage, but she said she invested too much time and money into the marriage and leaving wasn’t an option. Damien thought:
“I often asked myself, how could someone be married and miserable?” (P.84)
I totally agree on that one. I mean, you only have one life. If you are not happy in your situation, you need to change it. You only get one chance to live your life and if you just settle for something just because that’s how it has always been, then you will never find out if there is something else out there just waiting for you.
Mookie gets into some trouble and Damien learns from what he has done. I love this quote:
“The world doesn’t stop for anyone or events that occur. We chalk up a loss and somehow have to find a way to move forward in life as everyone does. (P.80)
Mookie comes up with this money making scheme. Diamond has a big surprise for Damien too. In the end, things don’t turn out the way I thought they would.
I really enjoyed reading this book and recommend it!...more

I was hooked from the very first page! The event that took place right at the beginning changed Tamika's life forever. I couldn't believe what she had to go through! On top of that, she gets those mystery flowers. All of the whispers on the phone, lies, and secrets that Quincy is keeping from her still is enough to just drive her over the edge. The sex scenes in this book are scorching hot!! I didn't know what to expect when Tamika had rose pedals leading up to the person in her bed. I sure didn't expect what happened! The way Quincy's friend Malik talked to Tamika after this incident made me wonder how he is going to be in the next book. He acted totally different from the rest of the book. I'm looking forward to finding out what happens next!
I would highly recommend this book! It was a page turner from beginning to end! Allison "Essence M" Edwards wrote an excellent story and did an amazing job in continuing from the first book. It was perfectly written. She held my interest and kept me wanting more at the end! The very last word in this book made my JAW DROP! I am waiting in anticipation for the next book!

It's always hard to tell whether or not I will like a book that is composed of short stories. Sometimes they are so short that you just don't get enough to make a good story. This was not the case for this book. I felt satisfied after reading each story. The stories were well written and complete.
Ellery had to deal with the all too common issue of being cheated on. She had a feeling that her husband was cheating on her, but she tried to overlook all of the signs. Then she tried to think of reasons why he would do that. She thought she let herself go too much, etc. There was also a story about Leah, Steve and Cinnamon. It's definitely not your normal story and I wasn't sure who Cinnamon was. I had kind of an idea after I got into it. It was a very cool style of writing. Also there was a story about Herman and Beth. It paints a picture of their life together.
Carolyn Moncel did an excellent job in making the characters seem real. I felt like I was reading a true story. Nothing seemed far fetched. These are believable stories that were very thought provoking. She really showed the emotions of the characters and really sends the message across about trusting your feelings. I enjoyed every moment of this short story collection. What are the 5 reasons to leave a lover? You will have to read the book to see, but its not just because of infidelity. Some things we just have no control over.
I would highly recommend this short story collection to everyone. No matter who you are, these stories will make you think and maybe even make you reflect on your own life....more

I was the lucky winner of a contest that the author put on for this story. What I had to do was read a little blurb about Tierra and her boss. I had to write what I thought was in the envelope and when she should get the envelope. I was really shocked that I won! Sorry, but I am not going to tell you what was in the envelope! You have to read the story for yourself!
Tierra and Qu were always the best of friends, but things happened and they lost touch. Their friendship was no ordinary one either. They were so close that they called themselves PB&J because she was the peanut butter and he was the jelly. I was glad they finally reconnected. Who is Beautiful you ask? Well she wasn't exactly who I thought she was, but she is the woman in Qu's life. It was actually because of her that Tierra and Qu get reunited.
Tierra had issues with God. She was just so mad at him and would not speak to him. She went to church and heard this message:
"The Lord speaks to each one of us in different ways. He may use your mother, your sister, your child, or even your boss. He might even use an unbeliever. God never said his messages would come in nicely wrapped packages from your pastor," the pastor could be heard saying from inside the packed church. "God doesn't do things the way WE want them done. He does things the way we NEED them done, so he can get out of us what holds us back, what keeps us from him. He wants to help us reach the next level. He sends us what we need, when we need it, in HIS time. We are on his schedule, not the other way around." (Kindle Loc. 1085-90)
I loved this book. The characters were great and so was the story. The thing though about this book that really drew me in was the messages about faith. It is so important to bring God into our lives. Sometimes you might wonder if he even answers your prayers, but this is an example of how he really does answer prayers....more

What I liked about this book:
I am a big fan of vampire/horror books! I haven’t read one in a while, so this was quite a change in genre for me from what I have been reading lately!
The first few sentences in this book were shocking! Rose came home to find out that her father killed her mother and siblings by slashing their throats. Rose goes on to tell her story of what happens after that.
It seems like since Twilight there have been so many new vampire books. The House On Blackstone Moor really had it’s own unique style. It had a really gothic feel to it. I really had no idea what was going to happen next in the story either. It was not predictable at all. The end was quite a surprise!
What I didn’t like about this book:
The font was very small. I downloaded the pdf file to my Kindle, and I had to enlarge the text and turn my Kindle to landscape mode to read it. I did read part of it on my computer though, and the text was much easier to read there.
There were a few errors, but nothing that made the book hard to read.
Sometimes there was just so much going on with all of the vampires and demons. At other times, it was slow and I found my mind wandering. So for me, the book did not have a constant flow to it.
Would I recommend?
Yes. This is not at all like Twilight. Don’t get me wrong–I loved Twilight–but I don’t like reading books that are trying to be like Twilight. Carole Gill has her own writing style and you will not feel like you are reading something familiar. Even though I thought there could have been a little better flow to the book, I am still glad that I read it and look forward to reading the sequel. ...more
I Loved You First hooked me from the very beginning and never let me down.
Alex really loved her friend Seth. She wanted to be more than friends, but hI Loved You First hooked me from the very beginning and never let me down.
Alex really loved her friend Seth. She wanted to be more than friends, but he was gay. Yes, he was still in the closet. He covered up by dating different girls and then dropping them for one reason or another.
Here is a quote from when they were on the motorcycle:
"I took off with a jerk. Seth hated when I did that, but it forced him to grip me even tighter. He scooted forward with his thighs encasing mine, and his groin pressed against my butt."
Too bad for Alex, but Seth didn't want to be anything more than friends. He seemed to be such a hot guy too. Seth had his eye on a guy named Bruce. Bruce had no idea of this and had no idea that Seth was even gay.
Something happened in the story that changes everything. Alex and Seth's friendship is tested, and Alex can't believe what Seth is about to do.
I highly recommend this book. It just goes to show that it's great to have a best friend, but you can't hide behind them forever. You have to acknowledge the facts and make a life of your own too. The story didn't end up at all how I thought it would.
I loved this bible verse quoted at the end of the book: 1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 " Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. Matthew 7:1-5 (NIV)

He has made his life better by trying to uphold the law. People are getting murdered over drugs. They aren't just any people, but they are his old friends. "At one time, Detroit held the promise of becoming the model for middle class integration, until the arrival of the crack cocaine epidemic that started in late 1985. Dr. Brooks comes into the picture. She knows that black men turn to the streets because of they way they are brought up. They grow up in homes were they are abused and where life on the streets is the only option. Even though they are forced into the streets, she can't understand why her people can't just get along. Why do they always have to fight? The violence became personal to her in his story.
Damu was in the Marine Corps. He did everything he could to help his family by sending them money. When he got out, he never wanted his brothers Darren and Ricardo to be without whatever they needed. He also talked about the strength of Piranhas and the pride of the lions. That added a very interesting touch to the story! Here is part of a quote from Damu:
"This country was founded on the backs of two of the greatest crimes known to humanity -- the robbery and genocide of the Native Americans and the kidnapping and enslavement of Africans. Damn near all of the so-called founding fathers took part in this historical crime yet they are celebrated every year during the holidays and in history class..." (location 528 in Kindle)
I am from Michigan, so I was very glad to read a book by a Michigan author! Shaka shows you what life on the streets is like. He doesn't glorify it at all. He is sending a message. Yes, dealing Crack is one way to attain money, but is the expense of losing your family worth the risk? What is more important--money or life?
I could see this book being made into a movie. I think it would be especially good to show young people how life on the street can really mess up your life. The flipping between past and present confused me a little at first, but I didn't find it hard to switch my thinking back and forth.
Crack Volume 1 really gripped me from beginning to end. I felt like I really got to know the characters. The descriptions were very vivid and made me feel like I was right there in the story. Shaka's writing is amazing, and I look forward to reading Crack Volume 2! I highly recommend that you read his books!

Things happened that made him change careers. Even though he doesn't want to be a part of the investigation, Jessie and her father beg him to help.
Revenge was self-published by Mark Young. It was written well and the characters were well thought out. I really felt connected to them while I was reading. The editing was also excellent. I never had a spot in the story where I felt confused about what was going on. This story came so alive for me that I really could see it made into a movie. For some reason, I kept picturing Clint Eastwood in my mind as Travis!
I could tell that Mark Young knows exactly what he is talking about and knows the police business! I could also tell that he did a lot of research! The story involves water rights and the Nez Perce. The story was believable, and it had me glued to the pages (well....to my Kindle!) from beginning to end! I never knew what was going to happen next! I definitely recommend Revenge! ...more

I just started this book the day before yesterday and had it 80% done as of last night! That's how quick this book went!
The story is about the lives of two boys, Nathan Jones (NAN) and Joseph Hayes (Joe). Both boys had tragedies strike when they were young--they both lost their parents. Officer Carson tries to help the boys, but the boys have no idea what they are getting themselves into. The story involves drugs, murder, corruption and so much more. There is not a slow spot in this story AT ALL!
Moses Miller has a unique style of writing. The story does not just drone on scene by scene. You go from present day back to the past and back to the present. I was really on the edge of my seat and could not believe how fast I flew through this book! There was a lot of action! Janeece and Kirk were young and innocent kids that were in love. They decided to "save themselves" for marriage and eventually they got married. Some of the parts of the book I could relate to, like when they were going on a trip and one kid had to sit on "the hump" in the middle of the back seat. I remember clearly going to Texas when I was little and we had to take turns riding on "the hump". So, I did feel kind of a connection with the characters, but not as much of a connection that I would have liked. Other than than, the book just seemed to move too slow for me, and it was too long. I do like reading a variety of books, but this one just didn't hold my interest as much as I had hoped. I have friends that I would recommend this book to (Staci). It's a tough situation when a parent dies. The children each think that they should be entitled to certain things, but then they listen to the reading of the will to find out what the verdict really is. The children in this book have a big surprise when their father's will is read. They each get a certain portion of money, but there is a string attached. They have to go on a scavenger hunt to find the money, and time is ticking!
I thoroughly enjoyed the situations brought up in the hunt for the money. Secrets were revealed, and Beulah's was something I never expected at all. I liked how the children were forced to work together. Their father gave them more in the end than any money could have bought them. Did they find the clues in time? I will never tell because you NEED to read this book!
Of course, this just wouldn't be a Brian W. Smith book without humor added in. Here is an example of what I mean: "She looked more disinterested than a gay man getting a lap dance from a female stripper." p.8 Brian W. Smith always writes about deep issues, but he has a way of incorporating humor into the story to keep you smiling!
Brian W. Smith never fails to bring readers something new with each book. You can always bet that he is going to keep you entertained, but teach you something at the same time. Just when you think you have a favorite Brian W. Smith book, he comes out with a new one that tops it! This is a must-read for book clubs. If I was in a book club, this would definitely be one that I would recommend for a good discussion. No matter what type of book you like to read, I recommend that you purchase this book and read it. If you haven't read anything by Brian W. Smith (is that even possible?), then I guarantee after you read this book you will want to read more of his work!

After I read the book I saw that it was a christian murder mystery. This book was not at all a church type book trying to preach to you. I have read non-christian books that have felt more preachy than this book. Don't get me wrong, it did have bible references in it, but they fit well into the story.
We are introduced to Detective Nate Richards. He is trying to solve the case of a murder of a fellow police officer and a teen boy. His partner is also injured during a shooting. The anarchist symbol seems to be the killer's trademark. That leads Nate to think that it is a certain gang that is doing the killings.

She has to go to a different school for high school. She wants to go to The Academy, but it’s expensive. The only way she would be able to go is if she gets a scholarship. She also is going to try out for cheerleader. In 6th grade she had something really embarrassing happen at tryouts and chickened out in 7th grade. She was hoping that this would be her year. Her mom had some excellent advice for her:
“Don’t be a quitter. Life will bring about many difficult situations and the last thing you want to do is start quitting when things get hard. This is a painful, but important lesson for you to learn. The choice is yours. That is the most important lesson for you to learn from this life. Life is about choices and we have to live with the consequences of the choices we make.” P.16
The other struggle is with her parents. It’s very hard to grow up in a house where the parents are constantly at each other over money. Kendra’s younger sister Patrice wondered why mom and dad fight so much.
Kendra was finding out things about her family situation that she might have rather not known. Her mom was trying to do better things for the family, but in order to do it she was keeping things from her husband. She also overheard her grandma and grandpa talking about things that they didn’t know she was hearing.
I know I am kind of going off the main story here, but when Kendra was talking about the school secretary she described her as the typical one who is in her 50’s, and has dark brown hair that is in a bun. She has thick horn rimmed glasses that sat on her nose and had an outfit on that looked like it was from the 60’s. Now I am a school secretary and totally do not look like that and hope I never do!
Anyway, Kendra's best friend was Katrina, but things started changing between them when they were not involved in the same activities. Kendra envies her friend Katrina’s life. She thinks her life is perfect. She finds out that maybe her life just isn’t as bad as she thinks. Kendra may not have had things in her life happen the way she had hoped, but in the end, they didn’t turn out too bad.
I really enjoyed reading this story. In life there are so many struggles to deal with, but communicating with each other is a big way to get through it. Keeping things from others is not the way to go. The only thing that this will do is cause more trouble. You keep something from someone because you are afraid if they find out, they will be mad. Well, they will be more mad if you hide something from them because when they do find it, not only will they be mad about what you were hiding, but they will be mad that you lied in the first place.
Not only did K.P. Smith write an excellent story, but she really brought up some important issues in this book. You have to keep your chin up. You can't let life get you down. You may think that you have the worst things happen to you and a terrible life, but things will work out in the end. God never gives you more than you can handle.
The story drew me in from the very beginning and kept me hooked until the end. K.P. Smith has an excellent way of writing that just flows so well. In the entire book I did not find anything that I felt could have been written any better. The editing was perfect. I felt like I really got to know the characters and felt like it was me going through the situations. I highly recommend this book! ...more

It was like taking a step right into Tara Walker's life from when she was 9 until she is in her 30's. I got to read all of her deepest thoughts--things that probably not many people in her life knew about. The only thing I thought was kind of strange is that she was writing in her journal at graduation, but I guess it could happen?
Tara is a comical little girl. She talks about mom being mad at her dad for drinking "acka-hall (that's a bad drink)" p. 2. I just felt like I was right there with her going through the events of her life. She had ups and down in her life, but she was always such a positive spirit! She really went through some pretty heavy situations like her brothers being into drugs, being molested. and just the other events that a girl goes through.

I am just plain tired of people criticizing me for my looks, my clothes, and my accomplishments, as if I could stop being light-skinned or start dressing ugly and like a slob to make them happy. Or perhaps I should stop making the Honor Roll for them. Would that make you happy Bitches?!! I am who I am that's all there is to it. I admit that because of how people judge and criticize that it has been a lonely life so far and I'm sure it will continue to be one far into my future...at least when it comes to female associates. p82
I would definitely recommend this book. It's a nice and quick book to read. I liked the way the book was put in journal format and it went from playing dressup, to losing virginity, to being a grown woman. ...more

Sometimes people do things they regret and they have trouble getting through it. Allison Moore writes about her life and how she overcame events that happened and made herself a better person.
"Hope is in your story; you just have to re-write it. There is nothing too hard for God. He did it for me and He will do it for you, you just have to believe. "It is finished" Jesus said." (p.10)
Allison Moore did not have an easy life to begin with. She was put up for adoption. Her parents were young, and her father didn't even tell his parents about her because he was afraid. Her grandmother was also pregnant and she just didn't have time to take care of another baby, so this one had to go. The people that adopted Allison were in their 50's and had so many kids--to many to even handle. They had strange ways of punishment too.
Allison did everything in her life to try to fit in and get people to like her. She always acted like everything was okay, even though it really wasn't. Little did anyone know, that she had an addiction. That addiction eventually led her to prison. Her time in prison helped her to see who she really was.
"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek." Barack Obama (p.152)
"For the first time I realized that everything that happened to me since birth was all a part of Gods master plan for my life. As I reflected on all my past experiences, each held new meaning. (p. 193)
I was really moved by this book. Despite all of the things that Allison had to go through in her life, she came out a better person. I highly recommend this book....more

Serious got a strike against him from me when he decided to see Laura upon his release from lock-up. He should have gone to visit Candy and his daughter first. She was so disappointed that her daddy didn't come to see her first thing. If he is going to go and have a child, she should be his first priority.
Draw 2 was an okay book for me. I get that this is a urban fiction book, but it was a little hard to read at times because of grammatical issues. I had to go back and re-read sentences because they didn't have proper punctuation. Because of this, I couldn't get into the story because I was paying attention to the way the book was written and not what was being said. Hopefully for Draw 3 this won't be an issue because I am not giving up on J-Real! I have to say though that J-Real really aced the steamy scenes in this book! I would like to see a more erotic fiction book written by J-Real!...more

The vice president went into a bathroom that was supposed to have been secure. Someone was hiding in there. They had plans on assassinating the vice president. From there the action just didn't stop!
The main character Melissa was a great character! I really hope to see more books from the author with Melissa! She was a tough woman and really made the story. Some of the other characters were a little hard to keep track of at times as to who was who though.
The story was full of action and suspense. If you like to read thrillers, then I would recommend this one! I am looking forward to reading more books by Steve DeWinter! ...more

She was sexually molested by her father and cousin at a very young age. She ends up finding out that her father is bi-polar.
We start off with Tamyra in the shower. She is trying to wash away her worries. She is so depressed and has so much on her mind. She is questioning God. She doesn't know why her life has been so hard. First the sexual abuse by her father and cousin, and then several men come and go out of her life and then come back again. She hates her job. She is afraid that she is going to end up like her father. She is lucky enough though to have a son, but he gives her some trouble too. At one point she is so worried because she doesn't have enough money for gas. She dug through some of her purses and found $6.00 in change.
Memoirs are so personal and touching. I found The Search for Me to be a very entertaining yet emotional book to read. I really felt like I was in the mind of Tamyra and could feel what she was feeling. The story flowed well and I got a look into her life. There were some grammatical errors such as missing commas and spelling errors, which caused me to have to back up a little bit and read some things again. Since this is the first book, I am sure these kinks will get ironed out in the next ones. Overall though, I would recommend this book!...more

The story takes place in Elkwood, North Carolina. When Julia was 4 years old, her dad disappeared. She has some kind of scars on her stomach, and she thinks it was part of a satanic ritual. She isn't sure how involved her dad would have been in this ritual. Also, Julia thinks she is being stalked by some kind of a creep. She is going to counseling with Dr. Pamela Forrest to try to help her. Dr. Forrest is trying to help Julia remember what happened to her when she was younger. It's really hard for Julia to go back to those memories, and she would rather just forget about them. She is having weird dreams too.
There is another character in the story that is trying to help her, but she is warned to stay away from this person. It's hard to know who she can really trust. Not only does she see some kind of creep, but there is something weird going on with her digital clock and the blocks on the coffee table.
When reading this I could tell Scott Nicholson has a sense of humor. Here is a quote and you will see why:
"A Creep in a jeep? Sounded too much like Dr. Seuss to be dangerous. Silly. A coy boy with a toy, bark in the dark, a mental muddle puddle. Still the adrenaline jolt tingled her nerves at a hundred amps and caused her fingers to twitch." (Kindle loc. 113-114)
I also liked this quote:
"A real man doesn't mind a little meat on the bone." (Kindle loc. 782-83)
I read a lot of this book in the car on a family trip. I went to a concert that night (Slayer/Rob Zombie!!). When we got back to where we were staying at 1:00 a.m., I couldn't sleep so I tried to read more of this book. My ears were ringing, so it was a little tough to concentrate. Plus, it seemed like it was going to get really scary, and everyone else was sleeping. I decided to put the book down until the next day. It really didn't end up as scary as I thought it would be. I know there was talk of creeps and everything, but it wasn't an overly scary book.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and was not sure who in the book could be trusted and who couldn't. It was full of suspense and really kept me guessing. I really look forward to reading more by Scott Nicholson! The ending was totally unexpected too!

I haven't read his first book Pandora’s Succession yet, but you can believe I will after reading this book!
This is a book that consists of three short stories. The first is "Creme Brulee". Monique Beauvais meets up with Curtis White at a gourmet restaurant in Old Montreal. He was supposed to bring her something in exchange for money. He seemed like a nerdy guy. She thinks things are going just as planned. Things don't seem to be quite right, and I was surprised by the ending!
The second story is "To The Last Bite". Dennis Kirby was at a french restaurant where he was supposed to eat and do a review. The owner of the restaurant looked familiar, but he just couldn't place him at first. He had a visitor at his house who brought him a special meal. I couldn't believe what the meal was and what happened at the end!
The last story is "Shashlyk and Morozhenoe" which has a lot of action and a surprises too!
Even though this was a short book, I really enjoyed it! Sometimes in short stories you just can't get into what is going on, but that was not the case here! The first two short stories were my favorites There was suspense, humor, and um..well, you just have to read the book to see what else! I recommend this book!...more

After all, if someone saw me reading this book with the title "Is Your Man Gay?", they might wonder if I am reading thinking my man is gay. No, not the case at all. This book was sent to me for review by Tonja Ayers.
If you think your man may be gay though, you really might want to pick this book up! The author states, and I agree, that there is nothing wrong with being a gay man. To each his own. This book is targeting the gay man that has a significant other that is female and is lying to her about who he really is. Read this book to find out the signs that your man may be gay. The author also brings up the subject of HIV/Aides and why a gay man might have picked you to be with.
If you are questioning your man's sexual preference, or if you are just looking for a quick book that is very entertaining, you definitely want to pick up this book! I was very entertained and learned a lot from this book as well! ...more

Valentine a/k/a Sassia lost her father when she was 11 and her mother when she was 12. She then became an orphan and eventually was taken in by Omar. This was the beginning of the trouble! She got way too involved with him at a young age. When she met Boogie, things got out of control in her life. It is no wonder why she got to be the way she was. You will see why when you read this book.
Reading this book was like watching a movie in my mind. I went on a little getaway with my husband and read this book on the way there and on the way home and finished it up when I got home. I am the kind of person that usually gets car sick, but thank goodness for Sea Bands! I put those on my wrists and they really work. I am also the type of person that can never stay awake in the car on long trips. Well I stayed awake the whole 2 1/2 hours each way! There was so much going on in this book that there is no way I could stop reading! There was so much steamy sex and suspense in this book and it could not have been any better. I highly recommend Valentine! Another very cool part about Valentine is there is a secret message hidden. You will have to read it to find out how you can find the secret message. I have never read a book where they did something like this and it was so cool! What are you waiting for? Go out and get this book!...more
