At first it seemed like there were two stories in the book and I was trying to figure out how they would be linked. I had a hard time keeping track of the characters for this reason.
I could tell that the author did research in order to write this book. It seems like a lot of books lately seem to be focusing on online chatting, and this book falls into this category. It is good that the author is up on what is current. The King of Paine in this book was probably the character that stood out the most for me out of the whole book just because of what was going on and how involved he was in solving the crime.
Sadly, I just couldn’t get interested in the characters enough to really make me that excited about where everything would end up.(less)

I really tried to like Isaac. He was really such a funny guy! He cracked jokes that will have you rollin'! He wanted his dream of being a star comedian to come true so bad that he lost sight of what was going on around him. His first priority was himself. I found Isaac to be a very selfish person after the story got going. Remember, at first I really liked him. His problem is though that he had a one track mind---being a comedian no matter what the price. He wasn't thinking of what his girlfriend needed or his girls. He was determined he was gonna make it big. He said:
"Comedy has to be the way, he affirmed. It has to be what God intended for us to have a better life! "p. 29
His girlfriend Janna is in very bad health. She said it's okay for him to go, so why not go right? She was so unselfish that she wanted him to pursue his dreams while she stayed home with their girls. Janna said:
"When the Lord works on anyone, it‘s never an overnight process," Janna explained. "Just because we want everything right here, right now, doesn‘t mean that‘s His plan. God‘s at work. I can feel it. You may not be able to see it from the outside lookin‘ in, but from the inside lookin‘ out, it‘s there. So I‘m not stressin‘ whether Isaac is changin‘. I‘m not stressin‘ the hospital tomorrow. I‘m just keepin‘ my life and faith in God‘s hands.".........."I just have to believe. Everything works in God‘s favor if we just believe." p.64
This book was fast paced and I read it in one day. I really got immersed in the story. I didn't always like what was happening or how it ended, but I was just determined that Isaac was going to realize what he was doing and God would make it all right. When he started into drugs, it was hard to like what he was doing to himself and his family. I was trying to be optimistic like Janna. I was so glad that finally Isaac brought God into his life and when he realized that God doesn’t take things from us or do bad things to us. We do that to ourselves. When the pastor in the church was saying the message and Isaac went up to him, that was when I got chills. I know that addiction can really mess up a family. The addict doesn't realize the harm it can cause themselves and others until sometimes it's just too late.
Well done Rickey Teems II! You made me laugh with your wonderful sense of humor that I love! You made me mad when you went from what I had hoped to what is more realistic. You made me get teary eyed when you showed what can happen when you only think about what you want vs. thinking about what your family needs. It really did make me really stop and think about prayer. I believe in the power of prayer. I know my prayers will be answered, but only if I am willing to make some changes too. You can't keep making bad choices and expect everything to just float happily along.(less)

When I hear that term, I always think of the Saturday Night Live version of Ladies’ Man, but this is different! It was just an overall enjoyable and easy book to read.
Damien finds his girlfriend Crystal in bed with another man. It breaks his heart and he doesn’t think he can ever love again. His friend Mookie has a plan though, a “starting five”. It’s kind of like a basketball game of love. The women are the players and if they don’t play the way he wants, he can bench them and move on to the next. This seems to work pretty good for Damien for a while, but then Crystal pops up again. Then there is Nicole she was in a sexless marriage, but she said she invested too much time and money into the marriage and leaving wasn’t an option. Damien thought:
“I often asked myself, how could someone be married and miserable?” (P.84)
I totally agree on that one. I mean, you only have one life. If you are not happy in your situation, you need to change it. You only get one chance to live your life and if you just settle for something just because that’s how it has always been, then you will never find out if there is something else out there just waiting for you.
Mookie gets into some trouble and Damien learns from what he has done. I love this quote:
“The world doesn’t stop for anyone or events that occur. We chalk up a loss and somehow have to find a way to move forward in life as everyone does. (P.80)
Mookie comes up with this money making scheme. Diamond has a big surprise for Damien too. In the end, things don’t turn out the way I thought they would.
I really enjoyed reading this book and recommend it!(less)

Thank you so much Mr. Young for sending me your book to review! It was excellent!
Travis is teaching at a University but gets asked to help out with a murder investigation. He doesn't want to get involved. He is a former cop and didn't want to go back into that that field. Things happened that made him change careers. Even though he doesn't want to be a part of the investigation, Jessie and her father beg him to help.
Revenge was self-published by Mark Young. It was written well and the characters were well thought out. I really felt connected to them while I was reading. The editing was also excellent. I never had a spot in the story where I felt confused about what was going on. This story came so alive for me that I really could see it made into a movie. For some reason, I kept picturing Clint Eastwood in my mind as Travis!
I could tell that Mark Young knows exactly what he is talking about and knows the police business! I could also tell that he did a lot of research! The story involves water rights and the Nez Perce. The story was believable, and it had me glued to the pages (well....to my Kindle!) from beginning to end! I never knew what was going to happen next! I definitely recommend Revenge! (less)

Chaos and gunfire at the airport causes six women to run for cover to the breakroom of the LAX airport. Two of the women are wounded. The women all come together and end up telling stories of their lives in the midst of all of the things going on.
I liked that Suzan Still defined each character by putting their name as a header while they tell their story. You will go from one character to the next as you listen to their stories. The writing is very detailed. I loved the whole idea of the story. You just never know, one day you could be doing something ordinary like going to the airport and you could be put with a bunch of women that you don't even know and end up telling more to them about your life than you would even expect.
At first I had trouble getting into the book and trying to remember who was who. What have been really cool would be to have a picture of each woman maybe at the beginning of the book just so you could connected a face with the character. I know when you read you are supposed to form each character in your mind, but it just would have been helpful. I could really see this book being made into a movie! (less)

The vice president went into a bathroom that was supposed to have been secure. Someone was hiding in there. They had plans on assassinating the vice president. From there the action just didn't stop!
The main character Melissa was a great character! I really hope to see more books from the author with Melissa! She was a tough woman and really made the story. Some of the other characters were a little hard to keep track of at times as to who was who though.
The story was full of action and suspense. If you like to read thrillers, then I would recommend this one! I am looking forward to reading more books by Steve DeWinter! (less)

They have been together for 3 years, and she wonders if he will ever be ready. He is trying to get his business off the ground and wants to get their finances in order before getting married. I didn't like Gerald at all. He made comments about Lenora's weight (I have had to deal with this problem myself, and it doesn't help matters at all...just makes me feel worse), and he was always so busy. He seemed like he never had time for her. On top of all that, she doesn't like her boss and is having trouble paying her bills.
She buys a lottery ticket and kind of forgets about it. She ends up finally finding it a few days later and has the surprise of her life! She wins the lottery. All her problems are solved right? Well, her life will never be the same, that's for sure.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was really easy to follow, and the characters sound like real people. I got a little annoyed with Lenora when she waits so long to bring her ticket in and with some of the other things she does. I kind of had an idea of what was going to happen, but I didn't know exactly how things would turn out in the end. I was surprised at her conversation with Ray at the end. I'm glad she said what she did. It would have been nice to know what happened next for her though! Will there be another book to follow up? Also, I still wonder about Gerald. Was he really that busy with work? Even though Lenora made some dumb decisions and she was annoying at times, I wouldn't have changed anything about this story. I highly recommend it!(less)
