The author went with the facts as described in court documents, speaking with the people in Michael Jackson's circle, and those that have spoken openly on television interviews (ie Lisa Marie Presley on Oprah, etc). But the author wrote in a way that it did not make the reading boring. Which can be difficult when speaking of numbers, profit, inflation.
Overall an excellent book for Michael Jackson fans....more

Michael Jackson literallPainting Michael Jackson as a real person tends to be difficult for mainstream media but these two security guards do it well.
Michael Jackson literally had his kids, a handful of friends, and his fans during his last few years. Everyone else deserted him, even his fake Hollywood friends that were front and center after his death.
I was not sad for MJ when he died, I was relieved for him and his pain and loneliness. I was sad and heartbroken for his kids but he's in a much better place then this hell.
When nothing was in the works, he was alone. When a project was coming up, greedy vultures were everywhere, gnawing at him wanting to sign this and that.
His security guards not being paid was mostly the fault of Raymone. She made sure she got her piece of the pie, including a high end apartment in Vegas that he was paying. To turn around and sue him for an additional $400,000. And after "This is it" wanting another $44 million. Greedy greedy evil. Sad!!
I agree with the authors, in one aspect MJ should have had more control over his life but than you think about it...someone else always had control since he was young.
Rest in peace MJ. Gone too soon but not forgotten! I'm so appreciative for what you have given us!...more

Other than this, I am not sure why Michael Jackson fans are in an uproar over this book. In my opinion, there is not anything in it that is new nor shocking. What I liked about it was the author was for the most part fair. Yes he used TMZ as a resource but in my opinion, those subjects that TMZ were mentioned were a very minimal care factor.
Do I think Michael Jackson was dependent on medication? Yes. But so is a lot of people. Do I think Michael Jackson was innocent when it came to the propofol use? Not completely. The medical provider that first provided Propofol to Michael Jackson years ago, did so in error. Michael Jackson is not stupid but at the same time...the average Joe is going to listen to what a medical provider will tell them. As in, just because you're a lawyer and well educated in that aspect, I do not expect you to "get" medical jargon. And to no fault of Michael Jackson, if Propofol "worked" during previous concerts, why would it not work for This Is It?!? We see this all the time in the hospitals..."this medication did not work for me...but I had XYZ and it helped". Whether or not AEG is ultimately responsible for hiring and keeping Conrad Murray is another story, though it certainly looks by the current trial that AEG has a lot to say when it came to Murray's treatment in Michael Jackson. Ultimately though, Conrad Murray, who is a license medical doctor, was the one with this on his hands. And how a doctor can be okay with the use of Propofol outside of a hospital setting, is just dumbfounding and shocking and sad. This death, in this aspect, could have been prevented. And why he only gets 4 years for essentially killing someone-is in itself shocking.
How Dr Klein can just miss and avoid court for his doing in the number of years that he was Michael Jackson's doctor is astounding too. He has just as much guilt as Murray does when it comes to treating Michael Jackson!!!!
I cringed when the author reviewed both child molestation cases. But was delighted when, even in his research, lean towards Michael Jackson not being guilty of these charges. I feel bad for both kids that were involved in this. Not because I think Michael Jackson is guilty, because I do not. But because these kids, both from dysfunctional families, were trying to please their family. I find it odd that the boy from 2005-how his family are now close with the Prosecution in the case. I also think that it is sad and revealing that Jordan Chandler had a very rocky relationship with his father in the years that followed 1993 and non existent with his mother. I am a Michael Jackson fan, I would never hunt down these two people because of what others set them up to do. Young teens are highly influenced, especially by the people that they want to please the most (their parents).
When it comes to molestation charges. To me, it just does not make sense. He was around hundreds of kids...hundreds of kids. And only two came forward (the second, mind you, choose to speak with the lawyers that represented Chandler PRIOR to going to authorities but I know Dimond and other media outlets probably did not disclose that) and sued. SUUUUURE you can certainly say that Michael Jackson paid off ALL the kids that "probably followed"-but is that realistic? Do you really think ALL of those parents who would have been supposedly molested by Michael Jackson take the money and not have a criminal case? Do you really think ALL of those supposed parents are money hungry and sold their children for sex to Michael Jackson? Come on...think logically!!!!
Do I agree with Michael Jackson sleeping in the same bedroom or same bed with kids? Not at all and I know if it was my child, I would not allowed it. I truly believe that Michael Jackson was psychologically destroyed as a child. I truly believe that Michael Jackson was a unique individual who saw himself as child like. Wanting another adult read him a bedtime story....who does that?!?! Calling Propofol "milk"?!? To me, those statements are childlike statements. A very bright man. A very educated man. Perhaps a man with two very vast and different sides...child like and business like. An on/off switch.
I think it is sad that even in death some of his family members are still using and abusing him. Still using his mother as a pon to get what they want. That chick that bore children with two of the brothers who would not leave the estate that Mrs Jackson had? How deranged is she to think that she deserves anything? I surely think Michael Jackson gets his kind hearted nature from his loving mother. I wonder and worry what will happen when Mrs. Jackson passes herself.
I hope his children grow up to be well rounded kids. I hope they find a place in this world where they are comfortable in their own skin. To some extreme Michael Jackson fans....they are not yours to have or care about in terms of how they live their lives. Let them live their lives and find out who they are. If they want entertainment, great. If they want to remain recluse and be a small town doctor, great! Michael Jackson, himself, was not yours and I think a lot of Michael Jackson fans hindered his life to live "normally" and destroyed it just as much as the media did.
Overall the book was way to wordy but I thought, overall, the author was fair. Just like other authors have been! It is amazing how many researchers who thought Michael Jackson to be guilty in 1993/1994 and on-who actually looked into the case and life of Michael Jackson to now believe....not so much! I would have given it a 4 out of 5, if it was not for the wordiness....more

Overall the book gave insight to the Jackson life, especially La Toya and the days leading up to her brother's death. I didn't read her first book, I have no interest in it because I didn't believe it. I wanted to read this one and that of Janet's...after all they are the only connection left to Michael Jackson's memory and life (other than his young children). I, also, do not understand how a family member isn't on the estate board, especially his mother....of anyone who is going to look out after his kids...his mother will!!!
Latoya- overall, as a MJ fan, it was clear to me that something wasn't right. First why would someone speak out against the Jackson name if they want to continue to have fame, etc?! Even in America, where we are full of judgmental people, would we think that would be alright regardless of how much America thinks the Jackson's are crazy (I don't know them, but they appear to be as functional or dysfunctional like every other American family! Secondly, being that their mother appears to be the rock of the family, to go against her or disappoint her...within the family unit you would clearly be burning bridged. Thirdly...to go from supporting your brother, to going against him in what appeared to be days....didn't seem right in my head. Forth-I believe it was on Maury that Latoya was on with Gordon...the whole thing seemed shady and with him (Gordon) being RIGHT there in nearly every single picture frame....looked like he was controlling to me. And if I remember correctly I believe the host of that show seemed to lean the same way?! Fifth-even if you were to rebel against your mother and family (many people do), someone who is very connected with their religion probably wouldn't go against that (JW, I'm assuming would not be a fan of posing for playboy if they don't even like to have parties). It's unusual for someone to rebel against EVERYTHING... I do believe we all go through things for a reason...we may never know what those reasons may be but usually it makes us stronger in life. I believe we are meant to go through things to make us learn and grow! Otherwise why would we be here if it was perfect?!
When it comes to riding coat tails or trying to gain fame in MJ's name (orJanet's)--I imagine that everyone in the Jackson clan (brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews) are damned if they do and damned if they don't. If you don't put anything out there-well that must mean they are living off of their brother's money. If they do put stuff out there-that must mean they are hurting for money and using the Jackson name to make it. They should be able to make a living!
Child molestation-it absolutely sickens me that this could happen to him. Though I certainly do not agree with his lifestyle completely (how innocent I believe it was, I wouldn't have my child sleep in a grown man's bed...). Everything MJ has put out or said has contradicted the charges against him. Just like being anti-Semitic, if you listen to his lyrics and words....clearly he's not hateful!!
America- america's judgmental personality disgusts me. And it is quite sad and pathetic and I completely see why celebrities choose to go elsewhere. The media is brutal and harsh when, in fact, they know nothing about a person. Which unfortunately, as a fan that lives in America, didn't help me. Didn't help me get his music, had to pay megabucks for merchandise that was sold overseas, didn't help me attend his concerts. It just so happened that I became a mega fan during Dangerous (I was about 13, he helped me overcome suicide)- as we all know the Dangerous tour ended short. HIStory tour, I believe only came to Hawaii. I was "this" close to going to the NY 30th anniversary concerts. Thankfully I didn't, the person I was going to meet up with ended up being at the wrong place at the wrong time Sept 11th :( I know he didn't mean or want to leave his American fans out but I also knew how cruel they (not the fans) were to him :( it wasn't fair especially because we nor they (media, naysayers, etc) knew HIM!!!
Neverland- I wish they didn't taint the environment. Today that place could have been MJ's Graceland.
Paris, Prince, Blanket- how well adjusted they appear to be. Paris is growing into a beautiful young woman. Watching her onstage at her father's memorial...it's clear that she has the famous itch! She had no issues singing in front of all of those people. I wish them a lot of success, regardless of what they choose to do in life!! Prince looks to have taken over the role of being strong, etc. Blanket...watching him on Oprah reminded me of his father on interviews...very shy.
Mrs. Katherine Jackson-what a pure soul she looks to be! Kind, caring, gentle but straight forward...her on Oprah, her words when Oprah asked Mr Jackson a question...I laugh thinking about it to this day. What it must have been like to bury her own child before herself or her husband :(
FINALLY MICHAEL-I hope he is resting in peace! I hope his music and message lives on FOREVER. I do not view him as GOD, I am not a fanatic. I'm a person who is grateful for his music and message. If it wasn't for him, I may not be here today. Being teased, stared at and tormented myself every day growing up because I was different...suicidal from ages of 9-13ish... His songs "Will You Be There" and "Keep the Faith" changed my life forever. Regardless of how much he altered himself, his perfectionistic personality, or his father's choice of upbringing...Michael Jackson was still a human being, a man with dignity, class, respect, LOVE, feelings..... Out of all of the crap that was said about him...he was still living life, making music...I do not know how he did without giving up (as I'm sure he was tortured...people don't change if they are happy with themselves) but I'm grateful!! His strength and determination to continue, helped me continue as well. I'm not sure ANYONE can see or understand his impact on this other than his fans and maybe his family! And the funny thing is...a person who was negatively viewed in the public, called names (child molester, crazy, weird, ugly,etc)....after he died-did you hear ANYONE talk bad about him? ANYONE!?! The people that knew him? All I ever heard was what a great soul he was....how giving he was...how down to earth he was...how caring, compassionate and loving he was....what a great friend he was....what a wonderful and devoted father he was....he wouldn't hurt a soul...he was quiet but polite and kind...he was a wonderful entertainer, a life changing dancer, a wonderful role model. Out of all the crap that has been said throughout the years.....does that sound like a person who deserved to have been dragged through the mud for years and years?!? Absolutely not!!! It is sad...very very sad to me. I just think if it was different for him...would he be the same person? If he didn't go thru what he did....would he be kind, caring, compassionate? Would he be as popular as he was? Negativity is definitely hurtful, it doesn't make it right but if it didn't happen that way for him...I'm not sure if I would had viewed him the way I did. I'm not sure if I would have seen the light of staying alive if it wasn't for his being, music, words, etc....know what I mean?! As selfish as it may sound......more
What a great collection of photographs of Michael Jackson before Thriller (though a couple were from Beat It). Some photos are very intimate.

It is clear that you can see how different he was. Before becoming FAMOUS (Thriller famous) he was very personal with different people. Of course in later years, not so much with the public in general.
Very nice collection. Very nice book to have for those who are Michael Jackson fans....more

If Michael Jackson would have been convicted in 2004, there would have been something seriously wrong with the system. Ms Jones takes us inside the court room and tells what went on on the stands. MANY of these things were not in the media (no surprise there).
The prosecution witnesses were useless for the prosecution. The defense were able to dismantle the witnesses claims and able to pinpoint it down to maybe it wasn't what you thought it was. It was just your opinion.
You have the Arvizos. All of which seem really flawed and after something other than justice. Mom was trying to get money from JC Penney's years ago. Setting up her kids to lie for her in this case. The photographs that were taken on that case years ago, were taken days and days after the alleged incident at JC Pennys. The family, especially the father, was able to get in contact with other celebs and all conversations seem to lead to needing money, paying bills. To a point where Gavin "left" his wallet on the fireplace of George Lopez. The wallet had $50 in it. When Lopez returns the wallet Gavin's father, David, was blaming Lopez for taking $300 out of that wallet. Why would a celeb, who took them out to eat, took them shopping, turn around and take money from them? Needless to say, David didn't bring up the missing $300 to Lopez himself but another mutual friend, who inturn gave David $300 without talking to Lopez. Lopez didn't realize this until later. Sounds fishy?!?
Thi family, along with other witnesses for the prosecution-managed to go to other people (the attn that worked for the Chandlers, the media, tabloids, etc) before going to police. Does that make sense to you, when you are looking for JUSTICE? Or does it seem like these people are looking for fame and money?
The witnesses that used to work for Michael Jackson, all claiming something happen-especially alcohol. The defense was able to refute them all as well. Funny how these same people backed Michael Jackson for YEARS and turn around and try to take down Michael Jackson AFTER they were let go.
On the stand, one of Michael Jackson's former employees lied and claim that they never took from Michael Jackson. However, years prior the suit they filed AGAINST Michael Jackson back fired. Not only did Michael Jackson not lose those cases but the court ruled in MJ's favor to have this person pay Michael Jackson for theft.
The Defense was able to paint a picutre of the Arvizo kids of being rude, disruptive, chaotic. But also the fact that the Arvizo family was at Neverland oftentimes when Michael Jackson was not. It's amazing to me that it's pointed out that the 2ish times that Michael Jackson was around, Michael Jackson made a point to do something inappropriate to Gavin? Does that even make sense? How ironic this is?
I think it's unfortunate that Michael Jackson trusted a lot of children. A lot of people that stayed at Michael Jackson's Neverland, including the Arvizo had free run of the property. Including the main house, including Michael Jackson's bedroom-even when Michael Jackson evidently wasn't on the grounds. And it is also reported that when Michael Jackson was on the grounds, he often spent time ALONE, even if company was there.
Say what you want about Michael Jackson and the person that he was. Say he had deep rooted issues. Say he wasn't a great entertainer. Say he anything you want. But I highly doubt you can say he was a child abuser, child molester after reading this book. And Ms Jones has NOTHING to gain from writing this book. Not to mention it's not something that she can lie about. It happened in the court. There are many things that the media didn't report on, that they could have. Which is sad that they were more worried about viewer, money than clearing a man's name. Very sad indeed. And it's no wonder why Michael never really looked at Neverland the same. Never looked at America the same. I think if I was in his shoes, I wouldn't have either....more

I hope that peAs a Michael Jackson fan, there was nothing new or surprising in this book. Having said that, it was an overall, well put together book.
I hope that people are able to get into the glimpse of what Michael Jackson was thinking, feeling. For the good, bad, healthy, unhealthy, normal and weird thought process-I think the book is able to explain the deeper soul of Michael Jackson.
However, there were a couple of things that I didn't care for. Mostly with the author himself. 1-he repeated a few things a couple of times. That not only annoys me but bores me as well. And 2-the bigger one of the two is that the author was self-promoting. I think there were too many times that I read something along the lines 'if you want to read more about that area, I recommend my book...'.
And it's not about the author's belief. I love reading about other religions and their workings. You had a lot of talk about the Jewish faith and the J. Witnesses' faith in this book. I enjoy reading about that. It's the self promotion of his other works over and over again that I didn't care for.
It is said that this is the first installment of the "Michael Jackson Tapes", I hope his followup doesn't hold back on anything and I hope the followup doesn't have self-promotion.
Regardless of what you think about Michael Jackson, I hope that you're able to take it for what his soul is and was. For the good and bad. No one person on this planet is perfect....more
