I am not surprised at C. Cullens because throughout the book, watching his face during the families words to him, and than watching his interview on 60 Minutes...this person who took the oath to help patients went out of his way to kill them. He was emotionally empty. No feelings. No sadness or happiness. Nothing there. So clearly he was not going to stop himself. And unfortunately the barrier of a hospital did not stop him either. Just let him go...to another hospital and to another victim.
The overall book itself was good. It kept me interested. It was not bogged down with too much technical terms that even a nonhealthcare professional could still understand it.
I would recommend it to healthcare professionals...it gives insight to maybe see the dangers in others and be able to stop them. Also to nonprofessionals...it is okay for you, as a patient, to ask what you're getting and why and your ability to refuse medications, treatments, but also it is okay to ask for someone else if something doesn't feel right!! Youhave that right!!!(less)

Other than this, I am not sure why Michael Jackson fans are in an uproar over this book. In my opinion, there is not anything in it that is new nor shocking. What I liked about it was the author was for the most part fair. Yes he used TMZ as a resource but in my opinion, those subjects that TMZ were mentioned were a very minimal care factor.
Do I think Michael Jackson was dependent on medication? Yes. But so is a lot of people. Do I think Michael Jackson was innocent when it came to the propofol use? Not completely. The medical provider that first provided Propofol to Michael Jackson years ago, did so in error. Michael Jackson is not stupid but at the same time...the average Joe is going to listen to what a medical provider will tell them. As in, just because you're a lawyer and well educated in that aspect, I do not expect you to "get" medical jargon. And to no fault of Michael Jackson, if Propofol "worked" during previous concerts, why would it not work for This Is It?!? We see this all the time in the hospitals..."this medication did not work for me...but I had XYZ and it helped". Whether or not AEG is ultimately responsible for hiring and keeping Conrad Murray is another story, though it certainly looks by the current trial that AEG has a lot to say when it came to Murray's treatment in Michael Jackson. Ultimately though, Conrad Murray, who is a license medical doctor, was the one with this on his hands. And how a doctor can be okay with the use of Propofol outside of a hospital setting, is just dumbfounding and shocking and sad. This death, in this aspect, could have been prevented. And why he only gets 4 years for essentially killing someone-is in itself shocking.
How Dr Klein can just miss and avoid court for his doing in the number of years that he was Michael Jackson's doctor is astounding too. He has just as much guilt as Murray does when it comes to treating Michael Jackson!!!!
I cringed when the author reviewed both child molestation cases. But was delighted when, even in his research, lean towards Michael Jackson not being guilty of these charges. I feel bad for both kids that were involved in this. Not because I think Michael Jackson is guilty, because I do not. But because these kids, both from dysfunctional families, were trying to please their family. I find it odd that the boy from 2005-how his family are now close with the Prosecution in the case. I also think that it is sad and revealing that Jordan Chandler had a very rocky relationship with his father in the years that followed 1993 and non existent with his mother. I am a Michael Jackson fan, I would never hunt down these two people because of what others set them up to do. Young teens are highly influenced, especially by the people that they want to please the most (their parents).
When it comes to molestation charges. To me, it just does not make sense. He was around hundreds of kids...hundreds of kids. And only two came forward (the second, mind you, choose to speak with the lawyers that represented Chandler PRIOR to going to authorities but I know Dimond and other media outlets probably did not disclose that) and sued. SUUUUURE you can certainly say that Michael Jackson paid off ALL the kids that "probably followed"-but is that realistic? Do you really think ALL of those parents who would have been supposedly molested by Michael Jackson take the money and not have a criminal case? Do you really think ALL of those supposed parents are money hungry and sold their children for sex to Michael Jackson? Come on...think logically!!!!
Do I agree with Michael Jackson sleeping in the same bedroom or same bed with kids? Not at all and I know if it was my child, I would not allowed it. I truly believe that Michael Jackson was psychologically destroyed as a child. I truly believe that Michael Jackson was a unique individual who saw himself as child like. Wanting another adult read him a bedtime story....who does that?!?! Calling Propofol "milk"?!? To me, those statements are childlike statements. A very bright man. A very educated man. Perhaps a man with two very vast and different sides...child like and business like. An on/off switch.
I think it is sad that even in death some of his family members are still using and abusing him. Still using his mother as a pon to get what they want. That chick that bore children with two of the brothers who would not leave the estate that Mrs Jackson had? How deranged is she to think that she deserves anything? I surely think Michael Jackson gets his kind hearted nature from his loving mother. I wonder and worry what will happen when Mrs. Jackson passes herself.
I hope his children grow up to be well rounded kids. I hope they find a place in this world where they are comfortable in their own skin. To some extreme Michael Jackson fans....they are not yours to have or care about in terms of how they live their lives. Let them live their lives and find out who they are. If they want entertainment, great. If they want to remain recluse and be a small town doctor, great! Michael Jackson, himself, was not yours and I think a lot of Michael Jackson fans hindered his life to live "normally" and destroyed it just as much as the media did.
Overall the book was way to wordy but I thought, overall, the author was fair. Just like other authors have been! It is amazing how many researchers who thought Michael Jackson to be guilty in 1993/1994 and on-who actually looked into the case and life of Michael Jackson to now believe....not so much! I would have given it a 4 out of 5, if it was not for the wordiness.(less)

It was a good read. I would recommend it to others - especially if you enjoyed The Glass Castle. However, I do not think it was as good as the Glass Castle.
It is odd when I read people's comments about the turbulent life of the Walls and the Smith's - while reading it, I did not think it was all that turbulent. I thought it was a story about getting by in life and doing what you have to do.
I had a friend that recommended the Glass Castle to me because she said it "reminded me of your life". And while I read it, I was doubt founded because I was not in awe of the way the Walls life was. It was, as I said, about getting by. Just like my earlier days in life...about getting by. Not perfect. Not always healthy. But we got by and made it to a degree - some better than others.
I wonder if Walls will return to the keyboard and type the story of her mother Rosemary...I think it would be a nice addition to the series.(less)

If Michael Jackson would have been convicted in 2004, there would have been something seriously wrong with the system. Ms Jones takes us inside the court room and tells what went on on the stands. MANY of these things were not in the media (no surprise there).
The prosecution witnesses were useless for the prosecution. The defense were able to dismantle the witnesses claims and able to pinpoint it down to maybe it wasn't what you thought it was. It was just your opinion.
You have the Arvizos. All of which seem really flawed and after something other than justice. Mom was trying to get money from JC Penney's years ago. Setting up her kids to lie for her in this case. The photographs that were taken on that case years ago, were taken days and days after the alleged incident at JC Pennys. The family, especially the father, was able to get in contact with other celebs and all conversations seem to lead to needing money, paying bills. To a point where Gavin "left" his wallet on the fireplace of George Lopez. The wallet had $50 in it. When Lopez returns the wallet Gavin's father, David, was blaming Lopez for taking $300 out of that wallet. Why would a celeb, who took them out to eat, took them shopping, turn around and take money from them? Needless to say, David didn't bring up the missing $300 to Lopez himself but another mutual friend, who inturn gave David $300 without talking to Lopez. Lopez didn't realize this until later. Sounds fishy?!?
Thi family, along with other witnesses for the prosecution-managed to go to other people (the attn that worked for the Chandlers, the media, tabloids, etc) before going to police. Does that make sense to you, when you are looking for JUSTICE? Or does it seem like these people are looking for fame and money?
The witnesses that used to work for Michael Jackson, all claiming something happen-especially alcohol. The defense was able to refute them all as well. Funny how these same people backed Michael Jackson for YEARS and turn around and try to take down Michael Jackson AFTER they were let go.
On the stand, one of Michael Jackson's former employees lied and claim that they never took from Michael Jackson. However, years prior the suit they filed AGAINST Michael Jackson back fired. Not only did Michael Jackson not lose those cases but the court ruled in MJ's favor to have this person pay Michael Jackson for theft.
The Defense was able to paint a picutre of the Arvizo kids of being rude, disruptive, chaotic. But also the fact that the Arvizo family was at Neverland oftentimes when Michael Jackson was not. It's amazing to me that it's pointed out that the 2ish times that Michael Jackson was around, Michael Jackson made a point to do something inappropriate to Gavin? Does that even make sense? How ironic this is?
I think it's unfortunate that Michael Jackson trusted a lot of children. A lot of people that stayed at Michael Jackson's Neverland, including the Arvizo had free run of the property. Including the main house, including Michael Jackson's bedroom-even when Michael Jackson evidently wasn't on the grounds. And it is also reported that when Michael Jackson was on the grounds, he often spent time ALONE, even if company was there.
Say what you want about Michael Jackson and the person that he was. Say he had deep rooted issues. Say he wasn't a great entertainer. Say he anything you want. But I highly doubt you can say he was a child abuser, child molester after reading this book. And Ms Jones has NOTHING to gain from writing this book. Not to mention it's not something that she can lie about. It happened in the court. There are many things that the media didn't report on, that they could have. Which is sad that they were more worried about viewer, money than clearing a man's name. Very sad indeed. And it's no wonder why Michael never really looked at Neverland the same. Never looked at America the same. I think if I was in his shoes, I wouldn't have either.(less)
