As always, Dane creates a wonderful story around not only our usual cast from this series but also about our loved characters from her Brown Siblings books. I love to dive into these stories as they always give me a warm fuzzy feeling inside- and I don’t mean the smexing here- even though that is hot too. I’m talking about the connections and commitments- the love and friendship which keep these people together. I love to see how they care and worry for each other. It’s not often that I feel such a connection but Dane made me crave it.
Mary is an independent woman with a successful business. Her supper club is booming and her catering gigs are filling up her schedule. She is happy and content with her current situation. She enjoys focusing on what she wants to do and how to evolve her business- the last thing she planned was a relationship. A fling with a sexy rockstar? Hell yes, but to commit herself to someone any more than that? Not in her picture right now. It’s pretty refreshing that the female character is the reluctant one. I understood where she came from and could relate to her reasons but that didn’t stop me from wanting to see how Damien would woe her into giving in.
Damien is a hotshot gorgeous rockstar. He’s the drummer in a band he founded with his brothers and he really knew how to rock my boat. I loved to see the diversity in his character- on one side the dirty and raunchy rockstar with all the facets we love about those but still on the other hand the loving brother and sun who still loves to get home to the family ranch and work with his hands.
As always the romance is fabulously done- you fall in love as Mary and Damien do. The chemistry is undeniable and together they turn your pages on fire. This drummer knows what to do with his hands and other parts. *wink*
As I already said, one of my favorite aspects are the group dynamics in Dane’s novels. Besides the previously introduced characters we meet some new ones in Lush. I loved Damien’s brothers and it really mixed it up a bit. I loved to see them laugh together and tease each other as brothers do. I really hope we will see more of them in some future books (hint hint, Susi wants that!!).
The only thing that irked me a bit about this one was the plot towards the conflict at the end. I so saw that one coming and still it felt too forced to be smooth. Still it didn’t diminish my love for this one.
Lauren Dane’s writing is unique and never fails to draw me in. Lush makes you feel cozy and at home but still pumps up the temperature with masterly written sex scenes. The romance is cute and sexy and you won’t be able to put the book down until you get the HEA Mary and Damien deserve. The climax isn’t as new as I wished it to be but the rest totally made up for that. If you haven’t read one of the Delicious novels- what are you waiting for?...more

Her female crush, Meredith, suggest a a daring experiment including her husband Charlie and Tesla. How can Tesla resist? A chance to get nearer to Meredith , who knows what might happen next. It sounds like an easy choice but nothing in life is as easy as it seems at first glance. An uncomplicated and liberal engagement can turn into something serious and strict very quick and so Tesla finds herself in tangle of hopes, expectations and little untold truths.
Tesla is not your ordinary girl even though she hates to see herself that way. She spent her childhood summers in a commune celebrating free life and love. Her past experiences did make her the woman she is now and her current living arrangements seem uncommon to the “ordinary” observer. She’s content with her current life- more or less, as most of us are. It’s what her life is and she accepts it. Tesla’s story is told in 2 parts. On the one hand we follow her current life and how her new relationship with Charlie and Meredith influences her life. On the other hand we get a glimpse of her teen years and made her into the person she is now. These two sides of the story show Tesla in many facets and gave me as a reader a really close grab of who she is. It’s hard to explain in a few words but at the end of the book you will see who Tesla is and why she does the things she thinks need doing.
I didn’t much care for Meredith though. She’s a glowing character who always seems to succeed in flocking people around herself. She needs the attention and even more so needs to be the center of everyone’s intention. She is a fun person, full of energy and ideas. She’s daring and always happy to take risks even if those might hurt some of the people around her. For me Meredith sometimes seems as if she really only cares about herself. She lives in her own personal little bubble and just ignores the needs of anyone around her. She’s selfish and too self centered for my taste. I had a constant urge to slap her real hard.
Charlie on the other hand is a lovely character. Oh this guy made me smile. I liked how laid back and nerdy he is. He’s taking a bit of a backseat in the story as the focus lays on Tesla but every time we get a glimpse he
The relationship between these three is portrayed rather realistic. It’s not your usual menage where everyone gets what he/she wants. We see the ups and downs, the good and the bad days. Like real life this relationship too has to survive the small problems and hurdles. It is, as I do expect from a Megan Hart novel, a retelling of the journey not the goal. I love that about her books! The close to truth factor you can find in each of Hart’s stories.
Another thing I loved is to see characters from other Megan Hart novels again. We do see quite some in this one. It’s nothing really prominent and I’m sure Megan Hart newbies wouldn’t even notice but well it makes my heart sing to see some familiar faces.
The Space Between Us is not your common romance novel. It goes deeper than the all shiny and happy HEA retellings and won’t make dream of unicorns and sunshine. It challenges not only your heart but also your mind. You will catch yourself contemplating the ins and out of such a relationship and how it would work in real life. I admit The Space Between Us is not my favorite of Hart’s work but still it made me turn the pages and tempted me to read just one more chapter till I reached the final one.

I have to admit that I’m actually a bit behind on this series. I haven’t read the last 3 books in it but as these can be easily read as stand alones I couldn’t decline the chance to read this one.
Rogers’ Last Call series is a collection of short stories all set in the same place- Last Call, a bar where supernatural beings can sate their sexual needs without worrying about hurting someone unintentionally. The characters we meet usually have an ability which makes the hunt for a compatible sexual partner more than just complicated in real life. In Frostbite we have Kelsey- a siren. Her problem is that as soon as she says something her partners are so compelled by her voice they have to get off ASAP. Sounds nice at first but well she wants to be sated too and enjoy the journey. She wants to actually be craved because of herself and not only her voice.
On the other hand we have Cain- a dark and brooding guy with a wicked dry humor that made me chuckle. He’s a reaper and woman usually don’t go for that kind of job. I loved Cain- he’s all alpha male and still has this sweet and cuddle-worthy heart that makes us women swoon.
The one thing I need in a short story is to feel the connection to the characters. I know that some people say I shouldn’t be that harsh and expect this in such a short format but for me this connection is essential for me to like a book. Frostbite gave me this connection and I would happily read more about these two. I loved to see them “take shape” in my head and at the end I didn’t want to let them go.
The sex in this one is as hot as always. We have some BDSM and toy play but nothing too daring in my eyes. I loved to see these two discover each other. The sex scenes are full of witty banter and little teasing. I do like that. It made the whole book seem less tragic and made me even forget why we are at Last Call.
What I really love about the Last Call series is that the supernatural world it is set in always stays vague. We always meet another supernatural being be it a shifter, a demon or a siren. Frostbite was a short and entertaining read. You need some cheering up and have a free hour? Grab yourself a Last Call book and enjoy the ride- you won’t regret it.

Merrick’s Destiny throws us right back into the world of the Bloodhounds. After an airship crash Merrick can’t remember anything that happened before only that out of nowhere his mate is sitting on him trying to bring him back to life. His mate! To say he’s shocked by that would be an understatement but he knows it deep inside- this is the woman who will make him whole and be the center of his world for the rest of his life. Paralee doesn’t know yet but she does feel the sizzling attraction between them.
Merrick and Paralee are a match made in heaven. Merrick is one of these hot hunky alpha males. He knows what he wants and nothing will steer him away from it. He’s commanding but also very considerate. He tries to ease Paralee into this new and very intense commitment. But more than anything he adores her independence and strength.
Paralee isn’t a flower who does nothing more than looking beautiful. She’s a pilot and tries to earn the money to get her own ship back running. She’s determined, strong and knows her way around a fight and physical work. But she’s also smart enough to see her boundaries and accept help, or a command *wink*, when she needs it.
Together these two are explosive. I loved to see that Paralee isn’t inncocent in any way and open to relish the chance the gets with Merrick. Keep an icepack handy while reading this one- you will need it to cool down your ereader and yourself.
I also loved to see more of the Bloodhound’s world. We get a glimpse here and there about how the Bloodhound’s society and their life looks like. We learn how they became what they are and how the mating is seen inside their ranks.
Rogers did it again. In Merrick’s Destiny we find an emotionally intense story with characters who will grow on you from page one. Rogers definitely set my expectations for novellas higher. I love how they always succeed in luring me into a world even with so few pages. The pace they set is always on spot and leads us through a great mix of action, love and sex. As always I can’t seem to recommend these books enough. a great new series with so much potential- I know these books are on my autobuy list. For all the romance lovers out there who love their romance with hot alpha males.

We never learned much about him and his mysterious character with all its edges made me crave this book. And yes I do admit I’m a cover whore and I just HAD to read this one. Look how pretty it is. But back to the book behind this great cover.
In Archer’s Lady we finally get to know the man behind the cool and unattached Bloodhound. Archer is everything I wanted him to be: alpha without being too overbearing, a strong and powerful fighter with a big heart. On the surface he sometimes seems a bit cold and uncaring but with Grace he’s a different person. The way he treats her with care and without judgement warmed my heart. He always does the right thing even when his view of the “job” isn’t what it should be. He puts the needs of the community above his own and gives everything he has to make them feel home and safe again. And let’s not forgive he’s hot and totally rocked my world.
Grace isn’t my favorite heroine in this series though. It’s not like I didn’t like her but well in comparison to the previous books I missed something. Grace has a secret past she’s still running from. She’s ashamed of her deeds and in weak moments the only solution she sees is flight. She struggles with it and in the end she never actually does it. Chrystal Springs was meant to be her new start and now faced with such a desolate and threatening situation she is overwhelmed. When Archer joins the picture her character got more substance in my eyes. Through their conversations we get more insight into her thoughts and reasons for acting the way she does.
The sexual chemistry between Archer and Grace build up a the exact right pace for me. I loved to see them undo each other in with their affection. It’s always nice to see a strong warrior-type man unravel for the woman he’s meant for. Makes me all sappy and gooey inside. *happy sigh*
One thing I completely adored about Archer’s Lady is the community Rogers created in Chrystal Springs. All those people who stayed even though their lives were threatened really warmed my heart. We meet a variety of fascinating characters and thankfully the author took the time to make them more than just an ornament. It’s one of Rogers’ gifts to bring characters to life even in such a short format and I treasure their stories for that.
The story-building was wonderful. From page one I was drawn back into the world. I loved how easily all the needed back-story is woven in without being annoying by useless repetitions. I love the fight scenes and caught myself grabbing the eraser like a madwoman and cheering the good guys on.
I would have loved to see more of the previous characters in this series but by not including this Archer’s Lady is a great story to start reading about this world. I’m pretty sure even a Bloodhound “virgin” would enjoy reading about Grace’s and Archer’s journey.
Archer’s Lady is a splendid addition to the Bloodhound series. A wonderful strong and broody hero and a heroine who awakens his softer side. You will find a great plot, engaging steampunk action and a mystery you will crave to figure out. Archer’s Lady isn’t only for the fans of this series- if you haven’t tried these books yet this one is a perfect choice to start- you won’t regret it....more
Ann Mayburn is known for her hot and highly erotic romances and when I heard that she planed to write one in a historical setting that also had cowboyAnn Mayburn is known for her hot and highly erotic romances and when I heard that she planed to write one in a historical setting that also had cowboys I just had to grab my chance. In Wild Lilly we meet not only sexy cowboys but also soiled doves aka dancehall girls, some very nice Indians and a bunch of bad guys- some not as bad as it seems.
The story is all about Lilly, a girl from a wealthy family who yearns for freedom and adventure. When her uncle dies and leaves his land in the west in her care she knows without a doubt that she has to grab her chance. Lilly is a daring and adventurous young woman. She’s a free spirit and is more liberated than it was usual at this time. But she also can be rather naive at times which I have to admit irked me to no end. At times I just wanted to grab her and shake her real hard. How could she not see what really happened?
On the other hand we have Paul- the rough and gruff cowboy who steals Lilly’s heart. He is a nice guy at heart and only wants to take care of his family but he can be a rather selfish asshole. He’s so focused on his life and goals that he sometimes doesn’t seem to realize what he is actually doing to others. He judges others for selfishness and in essence he wasn’t very much different. His deceiving of Lilly really made me angry. I know I shouldn’t care so much, but I HATE liers and he just didn’t stop. I was so angry at times that I really felt like throwing the ereader against the wall. This was a rather big problem for me.
I really loved the sidecast though. Estrella was such a vivid and believabkle character. She really had fire- I loved that. Also Sleeping Bear was great and I liked his character for too many reasons to list- and well he was hot. *wink* And Lilly’s grand-mère was a riot.
The plot was a bit too cluttered for my taste. So many things happened and while nearing the end my thoughts actually only consisted of “Not really.” With so many incidents, twists and surprises I felt overwhelmed. The story lost a bit of it’s credibility.
All in all Wild Lilly was a really fast paced and erotic historical romance with a vast variety of characters. It’s full of action, not only between the sheets. If you like your historicals hot this might be the read for you. I already cant wait to see what the next novel in this series will bring.

Her new series is again set in this world but it takes places before any of her previous series so this is actually a good way to take the chance and jump into her world. It will also show some other aspects to those of you who already fell in love with her work.
In Spell Bound we meet Shea currently on the run with her little brother. An old enemy, Dario Paganelli, is chasing them and they are in dire need of help. The siblings are totally lost in this battle even more so because they don't know why all this is happening. I have to admit that I never really warmed up to Shea. She is a strong heroine but for me she was at times too angsty and self condescending. She blamed herself for so many things and no matter what she didn't seem to want to stop doing it.
Gabriel is a Grigorio deep to the bone. He was raised to be one and it is truly his calling, I really liked him. He is a strong and stubborn man but he also has a soft side who isn't too manly to tell his mother he loves her. *sigh* He has many facets and well he just plain fascinated me- to see his soft and hard edges and the way all those made him the man he is. Just great.
I also really loved the sideplot between Quinn and Serina. So much tension and heartbreak to find in this story. I so hope these two will get their own book. They deserve a shot at love and happiness.
Sadly the mainplot didn't really keep my attention. I can't really point out why. Perhaps it didn't happen enough at times and other times the action just seemed to tumble over each other. The balance felt off. And well I admit it the romance took too long for my taste to really start. The build up was rather slow and my interest started to diminish on the way. Also I missed Julian's humor a bit. There were glimpses of it but not enough to lighten the overall mood of the book.
It seems my expectations were too high this time. It's not like this is a bad book it really isn't but it just didn't grab me as much as her previous novels did. Nonetheless Spell Bound is the start to a new promising series and well I'm already hungering to see who we will meet in the next book (chants Quinn and Serena). If you like your paranormal romances on the serious side this is just the book for you....more

It touches topics which are, at least for me, hard to swallow but it also offers an erotic tale of love and finding your mate. We also have politcal intrigues, prejudices and social systems that will make you shake your head till it nearly falls off. But let me start at the beginning.
Devnar is the prince of his world and a warrior at heart. When he finds himself as a slave intended to become the concubine of the queen on a foreign planet his first instinct is to fight with all his might. But when he is assigned to the petite breaker Melania everything slowly starts to change. .So here we have a captured man who is forced to become a sex slave of a woman he never met. His "breaking" is full of forced pleasure and mind games with the only goal of bringing him to accept his purpose. I didn't really like this theme. It made me uncomfortable to see him forced to feel pleasure in such a way. It is disturbing to think about something like that happening. The whole procedure was a mix of pain as a penalty for unwanted behavior and a constant onslaught of sexual stimulation. Well, I admit that my feelings were mixed while reading about it. Some scenarios where sexy as hell but I always had this doubt about the rightness in my mind. This is a very touchy topic and it is nothing for the light of heart.
Melanie is more than just being a breaker. Her life didn't treat her fair but her goal is to make the wrongness that happened to some of her subjects better in her own way. She doesn't have much of a choice either- breaking Devnar is her only chance of ever get a concubine for herself. Her appearance is seen as ugly and unacceptable flawed on her world so when Devnar shows real appreciation for her body she can't believe her eyes. It doesn't hurt that he has his own kind of appeal (see yummy cover *sigh*).
As I already mentioned the relationship between these two starts in a rather unusual and controversial way. They stand on opposing sides and both have an own agenda. When the forced pleasure morphs into something natural and real the emotions start to change too. The mix of primal attraction and mutual compassion is breathtaking and well the sex scenes are unbelievable hot. Mayburn knows how to set the pages on fire. We a vast variety of encounters without drifting off into unnecessary repetitions.
The plot itself is strongly woven around the science fiction setting. The different cultural and social systems are introduced on the go and I never felt overwhelmed by the information. I loved that we learn all these tidbits about Melania through Devnar's eyes. The setting itself is disturbing in so many ways but it shows us how wrong society can go even when it started with the best intentions.
The Breaker's Concubine is a very sexy and erotic read with some controversial plot points. It has a great setting that wraps seamlessly around the plot about intrigues and inhuman politics. This book will take you to your limits and before you even noticed it pushed you over. I dare you to give it a chance.
I give The Breaker's Concubine 3 1/2 out of 5 stars....more
