Heatstroke was one of the best short stories - any genre- that I have had the pleasure to read. I cannot believe such superb storytelling was offered for free. I would have been happy to pay for this one. It made me smile, it made me cry, and it made me want to hug it when I finished.

I'm not a member of the m/m group here, nor am I a big reader of m/m, but I loved this anthology! There wasn't a single bad story in there, and there were some really, really good ones. Definitely worth the read and highly recommended - whether you read m/m or not.(less)

I was really quite impressed with Taken. I grabbed this completely by accident when I was snaffling a number of the freebie shorts from this author's Dark Horse series.
Then, when I realised I got one that wasn't part of that series, I found out through the reviews on here that this story was part of a collection of short stories published for free for members of the M/M Romance Group here on GoodReads (I'm not a member of that group). Also, while I've read a couple of books that contained m/m, and enjoyed them, I've never specifically targeted m/m books.
To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, but was hoping to be surprised - and I was! For such a short, short story, this one really pulled me in. There was a focus on the characterisation, and I'm amazed at how much the author did in this regard with so little space.
The quality of writing was a pleasant surprise as well - Sherwood's style is a good fit for me. Taken has left me really looking forward to reading more from this author.(less)
