I actually finished a couple days ago but was unable to write a review right after. How could I? Seriously. At a loss for words. In a good way. In a really really good way. How could I explain the perfectness of the story? Surely, my words will be insufficient.
This book gave me something dear and precious and invaluable, so I feel like I owe this book something in return, even if it is inadequate. But it will have to do.
Five stars is my limit on goodreads, but this deserves so much more. This brilliant story deserves all the stars, all the flowers, all the hearts. Really.
This book has it all. Mystery. Suspense. Drama. ANGST. Romance, oh the romance. A story for friends. A story for lovers. Revenge. Honor. Discrimination. Hypocrisy. Politics. Hardships. Hate. And, of course, LOVE.
The story begins with the paragon Robert, Duke of Hawkscliffe. He meets and propositions Miss Belinda Hamilton, a courtesan, to help him find the truth from the suspected murderer of his first love. In return for Bel's cooperation, he becomes her protector and takes her into his home. She is to be his mistress, but only for appearances sake. But, of course, it doesn't end there. How could it? This story is a romance.
And the story is beautiful. The story is heartbreaking.
Miss Belinda Hamilton, the true hero in the story. My heart, oh how I love her. Fallen, but not fallen. Tormented by traumatic events that befell her wrongly. Her fears so heartbreakingly REAL. I cried for her.
Bel is fiercely independent. She's smart, resourceful, giving--so very giving. A beautiful woman that has to face and overcome the ugly over and over again. Her tragic circumstance pulls at your heartstrings and makes you really ask, "Why her?" I wanted to fight for her.
Her pain and struggles and the impossible situation she was found in, all made me wonder how it will turn out in the end... Will she get her happy ending?
Robert is a an honorable, chivalrous man. He is in love with courtly love. He's capable--powerful. Educated. He's the most eligible bachelor. Unattainable. A man's man and a romantic. He's simply swoon worthy. *swoons* And he's gorgeous. A gorgeous man who has his own demons to face, he needs saving from his tormented self. He's perfect, but flawed.
He's a titled man who cannot marry his one true love. I wanted to shake him, once. The rest of the time I was rooting for him, loving him.
The love that is found within the pages of this book is truly epic.
A love story between Robert and Bel that starts with attraction, segues into desire and ultimately, blooms into love. Love that is a forbidden love that turns the world upside down, tormenting them both.
They face discrimination, jealousy, hate, the impossible. Can they weather through it all?
The love between them is limited made limitless. Impossible made possible. And yet... there is more. So much more.
This book was laced with intricate history, filled with memorable characters, fascinating plots and subplots that twist, and the story took me on an emotional roller coaster ride that makes me want to go on for a ride over and over again.
This story gave me hope, heartache, joy. This story gave me the feeling of a love that knows no bounds. What more could I ask for? ...more

The colors. The voices. The FEELINGS. Everything is so very real it hurts.
Diccan, the hero, is the most conflicted and multifaceted hero I've come across. He's smooth, but funnily enough, not when he actually wants to be. And he's so very unpredictable, which I love.
Grace, the heroine, is one special lady. Love how she has real people thoughts. She's sadly hidden by her insecurities and fears. All I wanted to do was root for her and hope that she gets what she deserves, which is sooo much more than she cares to admit to want for herself.
I love the hero and heroine together. Their relationship had been put to the test, and frustratingly so. However, the trials and tribulations were necessary and only made their love sweeter.
It is very rare for me to like the hero and heroine in a story equally, and I am happy to find it in this story.

I don't think I should even touch on the plot. It won't mean anything. A string of words to try and summarize the story won't even begin to tell how awesomely unique and kick-ass the story actually is and what it means. I've never read anything like it.
Survival of the fittest. Self-depreciation. Inner turmoil. Unrequited love...
With all that in mind, no other story seems to compare. Even if the themes have been done before. I feel like I need to read it again just because.
I want my feelings back, to feel what I felt--OMG! It was as if my feelings had feelings. At the end of each part, I found myself stunned. I had to give myself a moment to breathe. To collect my thoughts. To just soak it all in because I felt like I was keeping it all in. These bubbling feelings. And the build-up to these moments, these earth shattering momentous moments were just too much. My feelings, my emotions they just exploded. I don't even know what happened. All I know is that tears were everywhere.
Had I known the story would invoke such strong feelings in me, I wouldn't have waited so long to read it.
And it's been months, maybe even longer than that since I had been recc'd this book. Oh, how cruel am I to myself for not reading this sooner?!
I must say, by reading The Hunger Games, it gave me a sense of being able to relive moments of feeling in love, and being loved. SOOOO GOOOD!
Gahh! Now I'm thinking of what happened in the end. I won't spoil anything. BUT OMG I NEED TO BE READING THE NEXT BOOK ALREADY!!!! ...more

My feelings are having feelings right now. Thank you Colin and Minerva for sharing your story. Or rather, thank you Tessa for writing their story!
As this epic love story just needed telling.
Oh, Colin and Minerva. Truly one of my favorite couples of ALL time. Colin, so beautiful, so heartbreakingly sincere and genuine, and honest. And tragically misunderstood. Let me hold you Colin, just let me hold you! On the surface he plays the part of the relentless rake. But who is the man inside his shell? Just who is this man who knows how to touch, but is untouchable?
And then there is Minerva, who lives life behind spectacles to see things clearly, but unfortunately, the things of life and love remain quite a blur. So very intelligent in all things, but so unaware at the same time. She is hidden behind her own shell, will she be able to overcome her insecurities and allow herself to become the person deep inside?
What can possibly happen when Colin and Minerva embark on a week long journey together, alone and unattended? What these two come up with certainly surprised me again and again.
I am so very tempted to give away the details, wanting to share just what had me laughing, what had me tearing up. Every single page just had this certain little charming something. This delightful something that felt real and fresh and honest. It felt beautiful, uplifting and something beyond that that I can't put a name to, but I loved it. Loved it so very much that I feel that it's a MUST read, it would be a positively amazing thing if everyone could feel this feeling too. Love that leaves me giddy and filled with joy
Please note: I was fortunate to have been granted access to an advanced digital review copy of "A Week to Be Wicked" in Edelweiss by HarperCollins. The book will be released: March 27th 2012!...more

Don't gFinished this the previous night, but I couldn't bring myself to leave a review after such a frustratingly abrupt ending. Yes, I'm frustrated. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this enthralling story about a cyborg who must find her true self after her world turns upside down. The world that she lives in is not just suffering from a plague, but hangs in the threat of war. Whether Cinder's world finds peace again, rests in her hands.
The reason for my frustration is that it DID end with a cliffhanger that had me pleading for more.
The story is, of course, a retelling of the classic fairy tale, Cinderella. It's almost comforting to have those familiar elements woven into the story. However, I was still surprised at the twists and turns, and I was pleased to find myself immersed and lost in whatever path the story took me on.
The characters are quite simply charming.
Cinder is refreshing, I fell in love with her character right from the start. Witty. Strong. Independent. A real, true to heart girl.
Kai, next in line to be emperor of New Beijing, makes a perfect Prince Charming. Ever the gentleman, Kaito suits the swoon-worthy role and makes it his own while wearing a hoodie.
And can't have a Cinderella story without her evil step-mother and step-sisters. I won't spoil the fun of the interesting spin on the love-to-hate villains, but I happened to love it.
As for the fairy god-mother, well, again I won't spoil it. But I have to say, she is my favorite character no matter her form.
I loved the freshness and the direction of the story, and though the cliffhanger is leaving me hanging, I'll definitely hold on for the next installment of this wicked, steampunk-ish story that happened to break out of the mold of the classic Cinderella story and has left me quite thoroughly enchanted....more

And it doesn't help that he was in my dreams last night. Never have my thoughts been so occupied by a fictional character. Peeta, what have you done to me? Gah!
I guess I'll have to read the third book soon, or I fear I may go insane!

This story is smart, funny, beautiful. I'm so in love with the characters.
Liliana and Geoffrey, I love them equally. And that is hard to come by in a romance, usually it's one or the other, but in this story my love is shared equally between the two.
Liliana, so spunky, so independent, so smart, a woman that speaks her mind and keeps you guessing.
Geoffrey, gah, just yes, please. Pretty please.
I knew they were meant to be right from the very first time they laid eyes on each other. The chemistry, OMG! And I'm not talking about Liliana's love for the field. I'm talking about sizzling hot passion that sparks between the pair whenever they interact.
I was intrigued from start to finish. This story has a plot that is pleasantly unpredictable. A nice pace that keeps things going. It's a charming, easy and delicious read that I will most likely pick up again just to feel the feelings... so good!...more

I can hardly think after all the emotions. The feelings. Oh, how these feelings and thoughts are still resonating within me even after hours I had put my tablet down. And it was a struggle to put it down. I kept going back, wanting to re-read my favorite parts and just soak in these moments LaValle created.
LaValle's voice is very distinct and I'm kind of in love with the way she can string words together and create these profound sentences that unravel in such a moving way. Her voice. Her characters. Her characters' voices.
Both Lord Radford and Mazie are incredibly well developed. The way they speak, their personalities, so defined and complex. Love how they are so very telling in how they express themselves by their actions and words and words they choose not to say.
The chemistry between Lord Radford and Mazie is undeniable and present and so very real, it hurts in the most delicious way.
One thing that I absolutely loved about Radford and Mazie is that neither lost themselves, they stayed true to their character from start to finish! None of the OOC business to suit the plot. Mazie and Radford were all about learning who they were and learning to trust in that, whatever they were to be and become.
(view spoiler)[... Straitlaced, beautiful, Lord Radford was in for it as soon as he opened the door and laid his eyes upon Mazie, a woman like no other. A woman that would challenge him and test him and ultimately, bring out the worst and best in him. And Radford is such a MAN, it would have drove me crazy if he were not to be so evenly matched.
Situation and circumstance turned them into enemies, each unwilling to give into the lust that they each knew was there. Each too proud, headstrong and needing to protect themselves from the other. The game was on. Neither would give in, too much was at stake. Radford and Mazie were in their element as they exchanged witty barbs, and well placed retorts, hooks and blocks. However, at some point, it got personal. Too personal. Could they set aside their thoughts and listen to their hearts? Will it all be for naught? How could these two find it in themselves to trust their supposed enemy? The way of life hangs in the balance for both Mazie and Radford. Love would surely conquer all, or will it?
Questions, so many questions. One thing is for certain, while reading I never once stopped to question reading this story and wanting to know how it would end. My heart was invested from the very first kiss.
It took me hours to find myself able to compose my thoughts, and even now I am still reeling over what I just read. It is a beautiful thing, this feeling. So immersed was I in this story. To feel these feelings, to be filled with these wonderful emotions that LaValle evoked in me. By reading this intensely amazing, beautiful story, I found myself in laughter, in tears and holding my breath. Suspended in an emotional state where my heart just ached for Radford and Mazie. Their love is forbidden. Their love should be impossible, and yet... their love is a necessary love, a needed kind of love, a love that just took my breath away. (hide spoiler)]
Have I said too much? Surely, this story deserves more praise! More stars than I could give. Since this book is not officially out yet, I'm going to try my best to keep this review spoiler free.
Like A Night to Surrender and A Week to Be Wicked, A Lady by Midnight is beautifully crafted with an intricate plot that just kept me wanting to get to the end because I just NEEDED to know what happens. At the same time, I wanted to try and pace myself. I wanted to absorb every moment and just feel all the feelings that Kate and Thorne's story invoked in me.
And what a story it was! A Lady by Midnight fully deserves my five star rating. If I were able, I would give it more. More stars because it was beyond 'amazing.' It was awe-inspiring, really.
For Kate and Thorne are characters that I simply admire and respect.
Kate is passionate, smart and beautiful. She has a strength and confidence to her, despite what life has dealt her. There's no messing with this heroine. This woman gives everything she's got, she stands her ground, knows how to get what she wants, and I love that she LOVES completely.
And Thorne, I just love him. Such a man, this hero. Gahh, I wish to go on and on about him but it would totally give him away. I considered doing just that, but I'm going to do the opposite and keep my lips sealed. More fun. So, please, read this book and find out about this mysterious hero. Okay, one thing (since you probably know this about him from the previous books), he doesn't say a whole lot, but when he does speak--MY, OH MY. And even if, it's all about action, yes? Speaks louder, right? ;)
As I was reading ALBM, I noticed that it did have a different tone/feel than the previous Spindle Cove books. (I haven't noticed it in other series, not really.) ANTS is more daring, AWTBW was dripping with humor and charm, and ALBM has passion down pat. It's nice to have such variety in a series to keep things fresh. I suppose it has a lot to do with the characters. Each are so very different and complex, complete with imperfections that make them achingly human.
I adore all the awkward moments and the little details that make the heroes, heroines and Spindle Cove seem so very real. How I wish it were.
I just wrote a major spoiler. I erased it. Don't worry. Hint: It was about Dinner and Francine. Didn't you just love them? Well, in this story--Oh, just read the book already!
Lastly, I think I should mention the fact that I teared up at the first sentence. Actually, tears were threatening to fall at the words 'Chapter One.' I admit, the anticipation got to me! XD I mean, to be able to delve back into the world that I couldn't and can't get enough of... Just. So. Much. Awesome.
Please note: I was fortunate to have been granted access to an e-arc of ALBM in Edelweiss by HarperCollins. The book's expected publication: August 28th 2012.
Please read it as soon as you get your hands on it! It's totally amazing!!

This story, this amazing story took stories to a whole new level for me. Just tagging this... I was tempted to give it all the tags! It's a historical romance with a bit of action, a bit of mystery, a touch of paranormal. A great mix to make this story special.
I found myself holding my breath for paragraphs, maybe even pages. It's sooo good! XD This book is a serious triple threat. Kick-ass characters. A plot with so many twists and turns, it took my breath away. And the way it's written, my gosh! I'm in love with how scenes lifted off the pages. And the dialogue had my insides all a flutter. The banter, the barbs, the sparring! LOL
Miranda and Archer are just so damn perfect. I could cry at the thought of them together.
I can't even... I want to say so much more but I don't want to spoil it. This story I think is best kept as a surprise. The thrills. The secrets. The adventure. The journey. All these elements just waiting to be explored, experienced.
I felt breathless. My heart still aches!
Miranda has become one of my all time favorite heroines. She's witty, smart... ugh, she's just a heroine of heroines.
Archer, the hero, I can't believe how many times I fell in love with this character. OMG, if he were real? The things I would do to this man. Sexy and so mysterious. So wonderfully good! And that just sums up my thoughts of him from the prologue!
And Miranda and Archer together? They are one of my favorite couples EVER, and totally meant to be XD
It was refreshing to read a love story like theirs, a love that is solid and unwavering. Their love is magic and scorching hot!

Actually, I found myself far more invested in learning how the characters were introduced after having already getting a feel for them.
The characters are witty, lovable and so very real! This book, Simply Irresistible, touched close to home as I really felt like I could identify with Maddie. (And that has never happened before!) Maddie, the mediator, the middle child, oh, my heart reached out to her.
I love Jill Shalvis' characters. They all have layers. They're complex, and undeniably flawed. Their lives are not always pretty or easy, actually, it's downright heartbreaking at times. Seriously, I felt like these characters are REAL, like they are my best friends. People I want to hold and comfort and reach out to. Especially, Jax (hehehe), the hero of Simply Irresistible ;) Just... can I hold him now?
While reading this book, I found myself laughing and in tears. All sorts of feelings were happening. Sometimes I didn't even know why. It could have been a line that probably wasn't even meant to instill any emotion and yet, somehow, I found myself gutted. And it felt so good. Sooo good. Shaking with bubbly beautiful feelings kind of good. Difficult to explain, but imagine a teddy bear hugging you from the inside. Yeah. XD
Would definitely recommend to anyone--EVERYONE.
Can't wait to see what else is in store for these wonderful characters. Since I read book two already, up next is Head Over Heels. :) Chloe!!!...more

What a page turner! Could not put the book down until I was finished. XD I hardly felt like I was reading a book, it felt more like watching a movie. Lara Adrian created a world so vivid and so real, it was easy to immerse myself in it. The history, the details--just everything was very well done and tied together nicely.
I almost feared what my reaction would be after reading yet another book about vampires. I mean, I just felt like I lost interest after reading so many of the same theme and then getting disappointed because I found it lacking. Well, not THIS book. This book totally gives vampires a good name (haha, not sure if that's a good thing). Adrian's vampires are of a different sort. And I kind of love her take on the vampiric world.
This book turned out to be so much more than I expected. Filled with intrigue and suspense... it's smart and sexy. Loved it all.
The only reason I dropped half a star was because of the heroine, Gabrielle. [possible spoiler alert!] I just wished that she was more assertive. I wanted her to stand her ground and just be able to, I don't know, just be stronger. I guess I wanted more girl power. Now, don't get me wrong, her character was done really well. And I rooted for her, just wish she could have just been able to turn away at times. And I'm also not saying that I didn't want for her to be with Lucan because there is no denying that those two have chemistry. Chemistry like whoa. Lucan is one delicious vampire and he deserves to love and be loved. XD
