It takes place in London during the day of the ton with lavish balls and proper high English society. It's funny and romantic as it tells the history behind the Bradford clan and their women. Robert and Elizabeth's relationship was anything but friendly when they were children. Between the two, they pulled prank after prank on each other. But, when Elizabeth's final prank makes Robert's life literally hell, he vows to now avoid her at all costs. So, when they have a fiery night of passion without each other's knowledge of who they really are, they're both shocked and appalled when the truth comes out. Will these two stubborn lovers eventually admit their true loving feelings for each other? Or will their selfish pride keep them from claiming their heart's desire?
I loved this book! It was so much fun, and a laughed an awful lot! The Bradford stories never disappoint. They love their women passionately with heart and soul. So, looking forward to reading the next one. Always have to have my Bradford guy fix;)
My first experience reading one of Sarah McCarty’s novels was outstanding! It kept my attention, and I was highly entertained! The men of Hell’s EightMy first experience reading one of Sarah McCarty’s novels was outstanding! It kept my attention, and I was highly entertained! The men of Hell’s Eight Texas Rangers are sexy and gorgeous, and Caine Allen was no exception to that rule. He was magnificent and just overflowed with intense heat and powerful appeal. He was a very protective and caring man that one knew that they could trust for his honesty and fairness. And when coming upon spirited Desi Blake, who is being held captive against her will, he is none other than patient and considerate. Desi is a damaged woman, and Caine is very tender and understanding. Things were done to Desi that were never really discussed during the novel, but one knows that they were barbaric and sadistic because when a few other Rangers are requested to go get Desi things, they find only a bed and a chain in her bedroom. So, Caine realizes that he is dealing with much more than just a kidnapped victim when considering Desi. And, Desi, of course, will die first before she lets another man ever control her again. She comes from money – lots of it. But, her parents and brother were all killed when coming out west, and her twin sister, Ari, along with herself, was stolen and sold to two different people. As to where her sister is now, she has no idea.
The cover initially caught my eye when first deciding to read this book. It was so uuummm...let’s see, aahhh mouth-watering! Wow! But, I was pleasantly surprised that along with the steamy erotically-charged sexcapades, which there are quite a few, along came an enticing storyline. It was gripping and heart-stopping. What Desi goes through, no woman should ever have to suffer from. She was hurt almost beyond repair, but with Caine’s encouragement and perseverence, Desi begins the road to recovery. She finds that she is able to be worthy of an honorable person such as Caine. And, with that having been said, all one can hope for this sensual couple is the chance to see them eventually wind up together.
Both main characters were extremely likeable. Desi was definitely a force to be “reckoned” with. She was a strong passionate character with multiple layers. She was a lady, but yet considering what she has gone through in the past year, she was a surviver – hellbent on never being manipulated by a man ever again. And, Caine was such a sweetheart. He laughed. He teased. And, he was a fantastic lover. Desi’s guard would always be let down when he gave her one of those heated stares. He knew what she liked, and was very persistent with his intentions. She trusted him, and appreciated the fact that he would never bring harm to her. They complimented each other when one thinks of a fearless couple. Both were intelligent and headstrong.
This was an erotic western love story. So, the lovemaking scenes were highly intense with several stimulating sexual situations, which might not be your thing. But, the author did not portray the scenes as vulgar or distasteful. And beware, the language was a little colorful too. That doesn’t bother me at all, though, when I read such an engrossing and riveting novel. Well worth everyone of the 474 pages I read!
I just can’t wait to read the next story in the series, Sam’s Creed! Ms. McCarty mentions Sam a few times in this novel and then describes him a little too. “Big as the other two, he was the handsomest of the lot, but that cold air of lethal efficiency he wore, like most people wore a smile, was scary. A woman would have no say in his bed.” – (pg. 48) So, I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for him!! ...more

Traveling in a stagecoach in Arizona with a few gentlemen when it’s ambushed by bandits. How will she get out of this alive? Having no other recourse but to slide out of a stagecoach window, she makes the decision quickly before changing her mind. Where does she hide so that the bandits don’t hunt her down and kill her? With just her little revolver for protection, she hides behind some rocks until being spotted by a gang of Apache Indians. They capture her, and one sole Indian, Nilchi, decides that she will become his wife. Unfortunately, Nilchi never sees the day when that will happen, and Katherine is left in his brother, Gaetan’s, care and protection. And, thus, begins the love story of a hard-headed, cold, protective Indian and the brave and honest white woman that will eventually claim his heart.
I loved this novel! At first, I was going back and forth between ranking this 4 stars or 5 stares because of Gaetan’s cold and brusque behavior towards Katherine, but then the 5 stars became more apparent. When Gaetan gave her a very romantically beautiful gift, one that would seal her feelings towards him more permanently as he would now claim her beating heart irrovacably, one couldn’t help but feel the love between these two desirous souls. Katherine thought that Gaetan would never be able to put his hatred and prejudice aside for the white man. Afterall, they were the ones that stole his land, killed his people, and treated the Indians as savages – causing them loss of respect and embarrassment along with starvation and a sense of purpose. Indians were proud people. Providers. Protectors. Survivors. But, how could they survive on land that was barren with no way to clothe and feed their family?
This was a novel of perpetual love that was founded on want and need – a man and a woman trying to come to terms with a nation sadly prejudice against a group of people just trying to survive with their pride and bravery intact. This was not just a love story, but a declaration of integrity and compassion for one’s ethnicity. Both characters were brave, confident, and compassionate about their beliefs and each other. It was just beautiful to see how a man as powerful as Gaetan could be so tender with Katherine. She seemed to tame the beast in him. And, do not worry about how real a description of this time period is handled by Ms. O’Connell. She does the American wildwest justice with its rural settings and customary clothing appearance. Do not miss reading this heartfelt and intense love story...you won’t be disappointed! ...more

Well, truth to be told, she was definitely in “love” once. The other time she was in “like”. Not too long ago she was engaged to Cash Richardson, and he hurt her real bad. Bad enough to swear off men forever. That is until Ryder Maddox made his presence known one day after Angelina’s daddy, Hank, came home driving his newly acquired herd of cattle. She knew that the sound of that whip rounding up that herd was familiar. There’s only one person that could handle a whip like that, and that was none other than Ryder Maddox. What is he doing back here after being gone for five years? She’ll never forget how when she was fourteen he broke her heart after he bid farewell to their ranch - never to be heard from again. So as one could see, Angelina was forever done with the male population, which unfortunately affected her joyous disposition – now causing her to be solemn and harsh. The cheerful Angelina wanted nothing more than to wallow in her own self-pity – that was until Ryder returned.
“Well...now,” a deep masculine voice said from behind her, “if it ain’t Miss Dusty Britches.” – spoken by Ryder Maddox when first seeing Dusty after five long years.
He’s back and he’s going to claim his prize – which is Dusty all grown up. Will she forgive Ryder and accept his deepest apology of why he actually had to leave while remembering how he hurt her so deeply? Or will she turn him down and be forever alone knowing that she should have given him a chance to show her just what she means to him?
Oh, that Ryder with that mischevous smirk that was just so beautiful that Dusty would just melt whenever he turned on the charm. He was her soulmate. Her all. Her forever. And, Dusty was all that Ryder ever wanted. No other woman would be enough for him. No other woman would satisfy his hunger for passion and desire.
The author tells the main love story of Dusty and Ryder, but woven between the pages also are two other love affairs trying to emerge among two smitten women and the men that consume their every waking thoughts. Dusty’s dad, Hank, has no idea that a woman, one that Hank has known for years, has secretly been worshipping him from afar. And also, Dusty’s sister, Rebecca, has been pining for an unsuspecting farmhand employed on their ranch. Will either woman win her man when the truths are told?
This is such a beautiful love story! I loved how Dusty didn’t just open her arms when Ryder came waltzing back into her life. He had to earn her respect and forgiveness if he even thought he would get half a chance with her again. But, one has to give it to Ryder for being so pursuant of her attention. He was not taking “no” for an answer. So, Dusty better get used to the fact that Ryder Maddox was sticking around for good this time!
Nothing is as romantic as the Old West for a backdrop...sigh!! Big hoop dresses showing a hint of cleavage and bonnets shading that fair skin from the baking sun was the women’s attire of choice. While the men were outfitted with cowboy boots, cowboy hats, while swaggering around in their “tough-guy” jeans. And what can be HOTTER than the cowboy riding off into the sunset upon his favorite horse? Simply breathtaking! Author Marcia Lynn McClure definitely knows how to tell a love story! The reader is hooked from the very beginning of the novel with the strong courageous characters – both men and women. And, if you’re looking for a passionate love story that is a clean romance with a hint of intimacy, look no further. This is absolutely one of my favorites! ...more
