There was so much steam coming from this book I had to keep wiping my glasses. Once again the series continues the saga and fate of these 3 women, will they, will Jasmine find true love before midnight on Valentines Day?
There was real nice character development. It was funny, in this book I actually felt closer to the male - Jake. I liked him right away. He seemed sweet and nice. I also felt that he was genuine and sincere and really did want a relationship with Jasmine. It was Jas. that I wasn't so sure I liked! I did end up liking her in the end, she just didn't give me a good first impression. This is a fun, quick and sexy read. (NOT recommended for young readers).(less)

This is "eggs frying on the sidewalk" hot, its "water sizzling on a frying pan" hot, "Florida with 102 in the shade" hot! There was a fun little storyline behind all this romance (and sex). I love stories with that magical quality to them, that touch of "magical realism". Besides all the parts that I had to close my eyes for.. alright, I admit I kept one eye open, this was a really cute story! I really liked Daisy and she seemed like a real sweetie to me. I wanted for all her dreams to come true. I really wasn't sure about "Rome" in the beginning, I didn't trust him right away. - but he did end up growing on me. And Erin sure painted a pretty picture of him!
"The man who'd made the request sat at the bar, wearing a weathered jean jacket over a flannel button down with a faded t-shirt beneath. She couldn't see below the waist, but she didn't have to see to guess there'd be shabby jeans on his long legs. From the fine layer of dust covering him, she'd guess construction worker."
This is my kind of guy!!!!! I love the rugged type! I like the way it mentions the characters in the other 2 books in the series (Rose and Jasmine) tying all 3 books together very nicely. When i started reading the next book I felt like I already knew a little bit about them.(less)

This is an inside view into the mind of a Schizophrenic Teenage girl. I once knew a young girl who was diagnosed with schizophrenia and she was very much like Sabrina in this story. I am always against drugging our children, but in severe cases like these - it could really save their lives!
"Nurses visit me constantly. They come as often as circus clowns emerging from a tiny car. Bringing medicine after medicine. They fill me with an entire diet of pills in small white cups. I haven't been able to avoid taking them. Now there's so much medicine inside of me that I'm melting away like ice on a summer street"
This was a sad, sweet, sometimes romantic, beautifully written story of life and falling in love inside an institution. I loved the characters, even Alec who definitely redeemed himself at the end. Of course I loved Sabrina and felt so bad that she had to live in the world she did, the one with all the static and noise. The only problem I had with the book (and the reason for not giving it 5 stars) was that is got a tiny bit repetitive in the middle. It did have a great ending though. And I LOVE the cover. I think its beautiful and very fitting to the story! They really hit it right on with that one. (less)

I absolutely love Chick-Lit anyway, its like watching a "romantic comedy" in a book! I will have to embarrassingly admit that this is the first book by Sophie Kinsella I have actually read! I know, I know - me the queen of Chick-Lit books - not read a Sophie Kinsella book? I am amazed myself! I own about 4 of them, I just haven't read them yet. And I have watch the move "Confessions of a Shopaholic" does that count for something?
Anyway - The book is fresh, current, modern, fun, quirky, and very romantic! The story is at least 50% made up of texting back and forth! Its great. I was just thinking the other day how they never show that in TV shows or movies. In the real world, everyone is texting! All the time! Every restaurant you walk into, every suppermarket, every Wal-mart, and coffee shop you walk into there are people texting. Then why do they not show this on TV? And they almost never mention it in books. Well - Finally! An up-to-date book about the real modern world as it is.
The ending of this book is absolutely brilliant! It is possibly one of the most original best endings I have read. I was gasping, and crying, and trying to read one sentence at a time between tossing tissues aside.(less)

You could read this book and not even know that you are learning something. I found myself highlighting and taking notes all through the book, but also really enjoying the story.
This is a short book that could be easily read in a day, but I took 3 days to read it. Why? - well it wasn't slow that's for sure. It was because I didn't want to miss anything! I didn't want to read it too fast and not remember or "get" what it was about. It is kind of like a puzzle story where you have to put it all together and ask hmmm what does she mean by this? It was really fascinating. I definitely took something away from reading this. This is a book I will keep on my nook for future reference!
But don't get me wrong... I said cleverly disguised as a fiction story - because you won't even realize you are learning something! It is very sweet, heartfelt, entertaining and inspirational, with a touch of mystery and magic.
When Ms. Virginia Bean looses her job she goes on a journey with God and discovers what she has inside her that she didn't even know was there. When she meets God he gives her 5 stones (like the 5 stones David used to conquer Goliath). These stones represent exactly what you need in all of life's quests - Listening, Trust, Optimism, Tenacity, and Constancy. Only when Virginia fully develops all these qualities will she be ready to face what life has to throw at her. And life does throw her a few Goliaths!
All of these qualities ( Listening, Trust, Optimism, Tenacity, and Constancy) are traits that everyone needs in their everyday life, not just when trying to find a new job, but when struggling with a relationship, moving, buying a new house, trying to deal with the death of a loved one, anything really that you need help moving on with. Read this first - as a story. But then keep it with you as a reference book for how to use what God gave you for your life.(less)

I loved Katie - she was spunky, sarcastic (a girl after my own heart LOL) and willing to learn and give life a try. "My mama's in prison. Not jail, prison. She sold drugs and got busted by an undercover cop. It wasn't her first offence, so she'll be gone for a long time. She left me alone in our 2 bedroom trailer most nights, so I learned to fend for myself. You learn a lot of stuff on your own." Don't you just wanna hug her? But it also hilarious! "Lord, we thank you for sending your Son to die on the cross for our sins..." And what does that mean? I need a glossary here. Are some people just born getting this stuff? Is there a remedial class I should be taking. Yes, That's probably what I need - remedial Algebra and remedial Church. Church for Dummies. I should check Amazon.com." This book is part of a series, I am pretty sure I will be reading the other 2! I got this when it was free for nook(less)

Absolutely brilliant! A big huge two thumbs up for new Author Ashley Ream (and not just because she has the same name as my daughter! LOL) This basically was a book about a woman getting all her effects in order so she could commit suicide in 30 days. I loved how the chapters were labeled by how many days she had left. This kind of made it seem more real to me. As the days were counting down, as it was getting closer to the end of her time - I was getting more and more nervous.
Great character development! I loved Clementine, I wanted to hate her but just couldn't. She was so selfish, sarcastic, rude and just so hilarious. And I absolutely loved the cat, Chuckles! I had never seen an author do such a great job with a cat's personality before. The Author made the cat a main character in the book.
This book was Hilarious! I was literally giggling on every page. Until I got to the last 5th of the book then it got incredibly sad. I was in tears the whole time. I even had to put the book down a few times just to ... hmm reflect? think? maybe just rest my emotions. It amazes me how a book can be both Funny and so sad at the same time. I almost felt guilty for laughing at Clementine's depression, but she was just so dang funny.
Then - get ready for the absolute shock near the end! I gasped out loud. The only thing I did not like about this - it had a NON-ENDING!!!!!! Why oh why? The perfect book with a non-ending! No really, its just me - I hate non-endings! So I had to take away .5 of a star as punishment. This book does have a couple graphic sex scenes and some swearing so probably not good for younger readers. (less)

I wanted to give it 5 stars but it was kinda slow in the beginning... Well in the very beginning it started off with a bang - I thought "Oh! Great, a scandal! I love a book that starts with a scandal!" then, sadly it got slow for a while. Half way through it picked back up. Funny enough - it started getting real good around football time! LOL Anyone who knows me knows I love football (Go Steelers!). So once this book really started talking football I started loving it. Jade's husband Max takes a job coaching high school football, a loosing team with a long history of failure with head coaches. Something is not right with this team but Max can't quite put his finger on it. Great character development! Of course I loved Jade (that's a given) but the two I really fell in love with are two of the minor characters - Brenda, their realtor and town busy body. I loved her, she was hilarious! and also fell in love with Tucker, the team's "star" kicker, or should I say not such a shining star - kicker. Great kid but not such a great kicker. Max thinks all he needs is some self confidence. Then towards the end (last 1/4) the drama of the book starts to pick up. Oh! and dramatic it is! I was sobbing at the end! I was texting my daughter with quotes from the book, my face just covered with tears. She texted me back "Mom, stop! I can't be crying before I go to work!" and she didn't even read the whole book. Sara did a great job of building the tension before the book climaxed! Great ending! I do have to say though that if you hate football you might be kinda bored with at least 1/4 of this book. But if you are a football fan you'll love it! I need to read more books about football.
I have always been a huge fan of Sara Evans, the singer! I am now a huge fan of Sara Evans, the Author! This is a great, clean, Christian Fiction book. Beware this is the 3rd. book in a series - "The Songbird Series". The first 2 being - "The Sweet By and By" and "Softly and Tenderly". I loved all three.(less)

For me this book started out as a 4 then ended up a 4 1/2 because I really enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would. When I was young I liked horses, but was not really gaga over them like some young girls are. BUT... this book is not just a story about horses or a ranch. It is about troubled teens - one particular girl named Tara. You learn all about Tara's life, her history, through "flashbacks" (which are done very well). Tara had a pretty crappy life, which is reflected in her withdrawn behavior. I swear I read most of this book with a pained expression on my face because I felt Tara's pain so much. I think it takes an excellent author to make that happen, to make you feel the pain of a fictional character. I really loved Tara! She got into my heart, I wanted to adopt her, to make her whole life all better. You also got a real good feel for all the other teens as well as the teachers and people at the ranch. This book is packed full of activity! After the first mini plot, I thought "OK that's over, so what could the rest of the book be about, there's half the book left?" But the story does not end there, it is only the beginning. AND - talk about a surprise ending!!! Wow! Yes, there were tears on my part (a true sign of a good book). This would be a great book for a teen girl, young or older. Even as an adult I enjoyed it very much. I can't wait for C K Volnek's next book.(less)

I enjoyed reading this book very much! I love a good ghost story and this book did not disappoint me. This was like reading a book version of "Ghost Hunters" or "Ghost Adventures" only this book was much better since it also involved a love story along with it making it more personal.
There was very good character development. I really liked the love story between Cheryl and James which made it very pleasant to read, but the love story did not overtake the book - it was very well done. I also liked the relationship between Cheryl and her teenage daughter. Sally was very believable as a teen. So many times I read a book with a teen character and the teen talks just like the adults. Having experience with teens (I was one once myself, and I owned one who is now 23, LOL) I know that teens talk very different than adults. The author did a great job with this - Sally talked just like a teen, and the interaction between her and her mom was very realistic.
There was also lots of ghost action making this a very fun book to read, but the Author also managed to keep it real. I loved her idea of having the ghost communicate through the GPS and the computer (it reminded me of a show my daughter used to watch all the time - "Ghost Writer" where the ghost would help solve crimes).
The only neg. I would have to say about the book is that I would have liked some reference as to "When we are in time" - like maybe "10 years ago" or "2 years later". I know some people won't care about this but I really like it spelled out for me and I was mildly confused a few times. BUT... all in all I loved the book!
This is a very clean book (I can't remember any swearing, maybe a "damn" but that's it) and only reference to sex a couple of times, not anything explicit or descriptive in anyway! So this would be fine for young teen readers as well.
Thank you Carla Foft for giving me the chance to read your great book! I do hope you choose to continue writing - you have the knack! Hopefully I will look forward to reading more from you in the future.(less)

This was my 5th book by this author! As always, Susan May Warren puts out a great suspenseful novel! I really liked this storyline a lot. I was hooked right away. Very sweet but "on-the-edge" story with a strong Christian message. I don't know why, but I really like reading about people who loose their memory. I guess it just makes it more mysterious. I thought SMW did an excellent job using this idea! The whole thing was very believable, executed very well. SMW, again, always has great character development - as did this book. I really got a feeling for the characters and their personalities. I liked Noelle and felt sorry for her and was also rooting for her to get her memory back (and what felt like her sanity). There were some other under-lying storylines going that were just as interesting and important to the story. There was the murder/robbery that caused Noelle's memory loss. Noelle's son, being a cop, was investigating the incident, and swore to his family that he would "find the guy who did this". There was also the new budding relationship of the son and the daughter of a friend of their's. And last there is the failing marriage of Noelle and her estranged husband, Eli (love that name, by the way!). Will they find their way back to each other or are there too many secrets getting in the way. Why does Eli kind of hope that Noelle never gets her memory back?(less)

Maybe the first book to this one :-) (less)

Any of, I didn't! Suzanne Woods Fisher, in my opinion, is the best Amish Fiction writer there is. She has such a way with her characters, it just draws you into the family, makes you feel like you belong, like you are a visiting friend. I loved this family! The three sisters - MK the youngest, smart, sassy, playful, and always finding trouble. Sadie, the 14 yr old middle daughter, Kind hearted, sweet, timid, and so sure no man will ever love her. And Julia the oldest, motherly, proper, strong, and speaks her mind. She is of marrying age but will she ever get married? The only son in the family - Menno, for some reason he was born slow, but he is kind and loving. He shocks the family when he does something as normal as falling for a girl. This story is full of little twists and turns and a few big ones! At the end, I gasped - then cried my way to the end.

Kind of sad and very heartfelt. This story takes place over the span of a year from one Christmas to to another as the whole family strives for the perfect Christmas. Natalie's Mother promised everyone a "Perfect 50th Christmas" but after her stroke takes over her body and her health, is this even possible? Natalie struggles to keep her life together but gives up on her marriage. Now she has something to focus on - The perfect Christmas for her parents, for her Mother. Can Natalie keep up her Hope and Faith to be strong for her Mother? And can she give up her pride and her guilt to save her marriage? Excellent character development. It takes place on the Islands North West of Seattle WA., Friday Harbor to be exact. And I checked - it is a real place. The description of the Island, the Ferry, and the houses is just fabulous. There is also a little bit of history, like how Friday Harbor got its name.
"The original hardwood floors had been covered with linoleum or shag carpeting you could actually lie on and make rug angels."
I loved the characters in this story. The character development was great! What also made this so real to me was the conversation. These were conversations that could have really taken place, they seemed so real to me. Almost like I was eavesdropping.
"I like knowing that in one cup of coffee, you're getting flavors from places most of us will never get to see. The Tanzanian foothills of Kilimanjaro, the Indonesian islands, Colombia, Ethiopia, Brazil, Cameroon... I like it that a truck driver can have just as good a cup of coffee as a millionaire."
This book made me giggle a lot but it was also very heartfelt and kinda sad. I love that it could be both sad and make you feel good at the same time. The ending was great! In parts I was giggling so hard I tears rolling down ,my face and in others I was saying "AWWWWW"!

As the magical snow globe is passed on from person to person, it tells each one's story. Each woman sees something different in the globe, something they need to make their life happier. It was a little slow in spots that's the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5, otherwise it was great. My favorite thing about this book were the descriptions. The Author had an excellent way of really setting the scene or (painting a picture) as I like to say. For that reason alone I loved this book.
"I kept walking. Down the hill, around the corner, and past the ivy-covered chapel. I paused only a moment to have a look at the softly lit church with the arched entryway. It seemed to me as if the church were wearing her rambling cemetery like an appliqued blanket. The blanket tumbled from the foot of the rose bed and fell haphazardly over a hundred sleeping kernels of life, lives that had built the chapel, paved the roads, and taken tea beside many a soot-covered hearth."
She also does a great job with the character development. I loved Miranda (the main character) I felt as though I really knew her and how she felt. While she was telling of her past, my heart was break for her. And the whole time she was searching for her Father, I wanted so bad for her to be successful. This takes place in England, and I have always said that I do not like British books. BUT... this one did not bother me at all! In fact there was this one scene that about sums it up -
" "Would it be alright if I use your restroom?" "Our restroom? Do you need to have a rest?" "Excuse me?" "Were you asking if you might lie down to tap a nap?" "No. I would like to use the restroom... the bathroom... I want to wash up." "Oh, Of course, the WC. It's in the hallway to the right of the stairs" "The what?" "WC. Short for water closet, of course." "Oh, thank you." I turned to go, wondering how it could be that though we were both speaking English, neither of us understood the other. "
I loved this scene because this is exactly how I feel when I read British book. They use terms that are only used in England and I have no idea what they are talking about! Although here I did know what a WC was, LOL. Great, clean, beautifully written book! (less)
