Fans of the characters will know exactly what is special about these men, but for those who are new, Vic and Matt are not your normal couple. Vic gains special superhero powers from Matt every time they have sex, and since Vic is exclusively a bottom that means he is constantly dealing with a new power depending on what position the guys were in while getting busy.
Vic's main goal in life is to keep Matty happy, and when Matt started hinting around about wanting a pet in the previous story, Vic knew he would eventually end up giving in. Sadie, the dog that Vic rescued, has carved out a place in their lives and has become a part of the family. Much as Vic might like to deny it, he has become as attached to her as Matt.
They have settled quite well into their lives together, and Matt has begun to seriously look at the future. A big part of him still worries for Vic due to the unknown that surrounds the superpowers he gains. Although Vic has told him time and again that he wouldn't give up the powers, as annoying they are, for the world, as it would mean giving up Matt, Matt can’t help but wish that things were different. When Matt’s precious car is vandalized, Vic can’t help but set off after the vandals, leaving Matt behind to worry.
The V in Vengeance is another enjoyable story in the Vic and Matt series. This series in particular is taking an even closer look at the depth of emotion in the relationship between these two men, and how they handle the powers that are an unavoidable side effect for Vic. I enjoy all of the characters in this world, especially Roxie who we get to see here antagonizing Matt yet again, and Sadie is a wonderful new addition.
There have been many stories about these characters, and here I notice a distinctive shift in the love scenes. They are still filled with emotion, but there is less focus on the explicit descriptions of positions and climax, and more on the emotional connection and deep love between them.
Fans of the characters will definitely want to read this story, although I recommend starting at the beginning with The V in Valor. New readers could start here to get a small taste of Vic and Matt as there is enough background provided that you won’t be too lost, but I recommend starting with earlier stories, or at least the beginning of this series. Overall this is another enjoyable story about two characters who continue to captivate readers.(less)

They are just like any other happy couple, completely in love with one another and looking to the future, but there is something special about their relationship. Each time they have sex, Vic gains a special ability from Matt’s semen and the manifestation is based on their positions during sex. Despite the powers often being quite an annoyance, Vic wouldn’t give them up for the world as that would mean giving up Matt, something Vic can’t imagine doing.
Here we get yet another glimpse into the everyday lives of Vic and Matt. Vic is a city bus driver and things like horrible weather and inconsiderate passengers make for very long and difficult days. Thankfully Matt knows just how to calm his lover and make a bad day end on a much happier note. During a relaxing massage when Vic gets a glimpse of something Matt’s keeping hidden in his thoughts, it leads to Matt asking Vic a question that’s been on his mind for some time. Vic’s answer will decide the future of their relationship.
"The V in Vigilant" is a wonderful addition to the Vic and Matt series, especially for readers who have been following these characters since the very first story. As with all stories, Vic gains a power that has a strange side effect yet allows Vic to help out a friend in need. It was obvious from the very beginning who was going to need Vic’s help and it was unsurprising and a bit clichéd. In this story, however, that plot point plays second fiddle to the much more personal and emotional aspects of the story. Here we have Vic and Matt making a decision about their future, one that’s been a long time coming, and it’s a beautiful moment to experience. The connection between these two men is quite palpable and always a joy to read.
The universe that Snyder has created for these stories is always a joy to jump into, and is fleshed out with secondary characters that are adored and fun, even in a shorter story such as this. Here we have Roxie who is yet again wild and over the top in the best way possible, and provides an infusion of humor to the story. And Sadie, Vic and Matt’s dog, after only two stories has become one of my favorites. She is adorable and bouncy and has Matt and Vic wrapped around her paw.
Just as with previous stories, fans will definitely want to read this continuation of Vic and Matt’s story. New readers could easily begin here as there usually is enough information provided so that no one would be lost but I recommend at least starting at the beginning of this series, or even better with the earlier stories that tell the tale of Vic and Matt meeting and falling in love. This is yet another wonderful story about two unforgettable characters and I look forward to the next in the series.(less)

This book is a collection of twelve stories, each featuring popular characters Vic Braunson and Matt diLorenzo. Whenever Vic and Matt have sex, Matt imparts special superpowers to Vic through his semen. They never know what power will manifest and it is all based on the position in which the men have sex. This leads to quite a few adventures as Vic and Matt's relationship continues to deepen and they get a bit more adventurous when having sex.
The following is a brief description of each story included in the collection.
Book I: The Positions of Love ~ The men have been together for a year, and for their first Christmas together Matt gives Vic a copy of Kama Sutra for Gay Men so they can use it as a guide to associate positions with resulting superpowers. Book II: Two Pillars Position ~ Vic pays Matt a visit after his gym workout and a particularly intimate shower sex scene results in a frustrating ability for Vic. Book III: Clasping Position ~ A pre-dinner romp on Valentine's Day causes sparks to fly later and Matt gets to enjoy the show. Book IV: Hammock Position ~ After spending some quality time together, Vic uses his new powers to help a school bus full of children escape a potentially deadly accident. Book V: Two Dogs Position ~ After having sex in doggie style, Vic gains a power that makes their party unbearable but helps him rescue landlady Melba Kowalewsky when she's in trouble. Book VI: Cowboy Position ~ Vic is happy to indulge Matt's fetish by eating whip cream and strawberries off of Matt, but the superpower Vic ends up with threatens to scorch their good moods. Book VII: Kneeling Butterfly Position ~ On a rainy, dreary day, Matt has an idea which makes Vic's skin crawl, but when the boys get busy in a dressing room, Vic gains a power that helps when the storm outside worsens. Book VIII: Pillar & the Ivy Position ~ Matt has found an interesting position but the only way to make it work is to be in the pool ... and the power Vic gains will keep him there for a while. Book IX: Tripod Position ~ Matt and Vic go to a club to have fun with Vic's leather fetish but run into a few guys who want to play with Matt and won't take no for an answer. Book X: Lotus Position ~ Matt and Vic take a much needed vacation to the beach but when Vic's new power is discovered by a young boy, Vic is forced to possibly expose himself to more scrutiny and destroy their quiet solitude. Book XI: The Arc Position ~ Gym receptionist Roxie is having a Halloween party and wants Vic and Matt there ... but Vic must change his costume at the last minute when his latest power causes him to be a bit more hairy than usual. Book XII: Sideways Position ~ As Matt starts to stress out about introducing Vic to his family over Thanksgiving, a new position gives Vic just the power he needs to make a good impression.
The Positions of Love is an exceptional collection of stories about two wonderful characters. Although not the first introduction to Vic and Matt, it will be easy for new readers to jump in and fall in love with the men. Not only do these stories walk through twelve different positions that Vic and Matt try out, but they also follow the men as their relationship deepens and they approach life head-on together. Both men are very well developed characters, each bringing different strengths and weaknesses to the table, and the match is perfection.
Each story is just as good as the next and the previous, and the writing flows easily from one to another. The sex is always scorching hot between these two, and here is no exception, but what leaves a lasting impression is the deep love they have for one another and the bond that they share. It manifests itself in a very literal way through their psychic connection, but even without that these men share an intensity of emotion that is palpable at all times. They are soul mates in every sense of the word, and are a joy to read.
It is important to keep in mind that these twelve stories were released individually so each includes some setup information at the beginning so that they could be read as stand-alones. This makes for a little bump when reading them all together as a complete book, but it is nothing that affects the reading experience too adversely. Readers will find themselves immersed in the overall arc of the stories and will be wanting to follow Vic and Matt to other published stories. I highly recommend this collection for both existing fans and new readers, as neither will be disappointed.(less)
