And when she is chosen as a handmaiden for the Prince of Light, there is no higher honor.
But Saya soon becomes dissatisfied with life at the Palace of Light. And she finds out why. Saya is really the Water Maiden, the Princess of Darkness. Though Saya loves the Light, Darkness is where she belongs and soon she finds both sides are at war with each other. But she, along with the help of another, might just be able to stop the Light from destroying the world she lives in.
A friend recommended this book to me and I was very happy that my library had it to borrow. The story follows Saya who is more than just an regular girl. Though she has lived a pretty normal life, she finds out her true origins. The book might sound like any fantasy story, but it is pretty unique and has great characters. It is also very beautifully written.
I love this book. I think the story is just amazing and for me it was very easy to get into. Once I would start reading I didn't want to stop. I know this is the author's first book and she did a wonderful job. In the author's note at the end she said that she hopes readers will feel the emotion she put into writing this book, and I have to say I did. I became attached to the characters and I found myself tearing up a few times.
This is truly a wonderful book and I am so happy that a friend recommended it to me otherwise I may have never found it. It is a unique fantasy book set in a fascinating world with great characters and a story that makes you want to keep reading. I recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy. ...more

Ellie and Jeremiah were instantly attracted to one another and couldn't stop thinking of each other since that day. Ellie and Jeremiah eventually become friends and that friendship turns into something more. They fall in love. She's white and he's black, but that doesn't matter to them. They still hear the whispers, see the strange looks they get and the remarks. It might upset them, but they refuse to let that tear them apart. Jeremiah and Ellie are more worried about the reaction their families will have about their relationship. Ellie is especially worried about her family, but something terrible happens before Jeremiah gets the chance to meet Ellie's family.
This book was recommended to me by a friend and I am so happy that she recommended it to me. It's a beautiful love story about an interracial couple. It's so touching and the ending is very sad. It is very well-written and the two characters are truly in love. It was just a really, really great book. There is also a sequel to the book called Behind You which I'm looking forward to reading....more

And really, I'm not surprised to learn there is history that has been suppressed.
That being said, this really is an interesting book and definitely gives a person a lot to think about, and research. One of the things I thought most interesting was about the Mandan and their almost European appearance. Of course, some say this has been discounted. But I'm not so sure. I know a lot of history has been hidden from us for one reason or another. I think this book is a good place to start if you're searching for the truth. Hopefully if anything this book will be a start to get people to really research history and trust me, once you start your own research, you'll see a lot of been hidden from us. And a lot of lies as well.
This was a good book. Well-written and has given me a lot I'd like to start researching....more

Told them that he'd been sent by Archer to get the 2,000 words from Howard's father.
Howard had no idea what the Goon was talking about, but soon learns from his father that the past 13 years he has been writing 2,000 and mailing them to a person named Mountjoy to cure writer's block. Or so he thought that's what it was for. But, it turns out to be much more complicated than that and soon they find themselves in the middle of wizard siblings fighting for the words Howard's father writes.
Archer's Goon is a strangely charming book. It is strange, mysterious and wonderfully exciting. Lots of twists and things I didn't expect.
It's quite a fun book with unique and likeable characters. Interesting story that kept me guessing. This is a great book and I enjoyed every minute of it! 4 and a half stars....more

They even make him a special cake for his welcome home.
The next before his return, Kate and Henry fall asleep while staring at a post card from their grandfather. In their dreams, they find a town filled with giant food and explore it.
I liked this as much as the first book. I think it was a enjoyable read and those who liked the first book will probably like this one too....more

Darren must take the trials to prove himself and save both his and Mr. Crepsley's names. Darren completes the first three trials, but trial number four doesn't work out as good as he thought it would. In fact, it didn't work out good at all. Darren might be sent to the Hall of Death.
I couldn't put this book down. I just wanted to know what would happen next. In this book, as well as the fourth book, I learned more about the vampires and their ways. And I learned more about some of the characters. Kurda, I think, is an interesting character. He seems to be very nice and caring. However, I haven't been to sure of him since he was introduced in book four. I think his intentions are meant to be good, but he just might not realize what he is doing is actually very dangerous. And I think with these books, especially the more of them I read, the vampires are different from other series about vampires. They truly do care about one another, but they feel they must follow whatever laws and traditions they have no matter what. Overall, this book was awesome. I'm looking forward to the next one and finding out what will happen....more

After previously witnessing the betrayal by Kurda and Darren does escape, but barely. Somehow, he makes it out alive, but barely hanging on. The wolves come to Darren's rescue, taking him in and accepting him as one of their own. He gains his strength back and realizes he has to go back to Vampire Mountain, he has to tell the Vampire Princes of what Kurda done, before he becomes a Prince himself.
I think the first two chapters were a little slow, but as it always is with this series, I quickly got right into the story. I think there is a lot of heavy stuff in this book, Darren realizing some different things and not fully agreeing with how the Vampires do things. I think Darren's character develops a lot more in this book. I think this book was great. I'm looking forward to reading book Seven....more

It has the scent of roses, but the letter is a little different this time. It says "This year, we will meet." She decides her prince must be truly real! She has to find him.
I picked up this manga not knowing what to expect from it. I had never heard of Revolutionary Girl Utena and I was surprised at how good this story was. I think the manga has a nice story and I really like Utena. She is not the girly-girl type, she is brave and believes that no matter what gender, anyone can be a prince. I plan on buying all Revolutionary Girl mangas as soon as possible....more

It was good, but was a bit confusing at times. There were a lot of characters to keep up with, but overall, it was a enjoyable read. But I didn't enjoy it as much as other books I've read by Diana Wynne Jones. I know this book was written for adults and is quite a bit different from her other books for younger readers. I did like it, but I think her books for teens/children are much better. I think any fan of Diana's will enjoy this book, though. It does have an interesting story along with many interesting characters and lots going on....more

They are staying in the Grey house and one day, while exploring in the attic they found a very old map. They think it must be to some sort of treasure. The Drew children soon find out that the map is much more important than they think. They are soon being watched by people they thought friends and they turn to their Great-Uncle Merry for help in finding what the map leads to.
I've wanted to read this book ever since I watched The Seeker movie a few years ago. I really enjoyed the movie. Though a bit slow at parts, this book didn't disappoint. It's really a fun story and you can't wait to find out what happens next. I also really like the Drew children and wish their uncle appeared more in the book. He was a good character, but a bit mystery and it would be interesting to learn more about him. The story is really an adventure about finding something really special. A treasure, but not the kind you think. It sort of makes you want to go on your own adventure after reading this book....more
