It was hilarious and pathetic at how he couldn't see that his wife was cheating on him!
The Lees of Laughter's End: ★★ Greed can make people do stupid things and when all those stupid people are trapped on a ship in waters teeming with Dhenrabi..you get the idea!
The Healthy Dead: ★★★ A city where all and any vices are outlawed..where children might be being eaten or are they? (less)

I did like seeing the soft side of a 300 year old vampire, though.
Velvet Night: How is it okay to sneak into someone's bedroom when they're asleep and do "stuff" to them? And then the girl falls in love with this perv? I liked how he never lied to her and told her he was a vampire.
Midnight Court: The twist at the end was really good but the whole story was a little too vague for me.
This book can be a good beginning for someone just starting to read Vampire novels. For readers of Anita Blake or Sookie Stackhouse novels, it is almost too vanilla! (less)

A LONE WOLF by MaryJanice Davidson: ★★★ A werewolf looking for his "herd" meets a "meal" instead!
THE WITCHES OF MYSTERIA AND THE DEAD WHO LOVE THEM by Gena Showalter: ★★ Loving her would be the death of him!
CANDY COX AND THE BIG BAD(WERE)WOLF by P. C. Cast: ★★★ A teacher falls for one of her ex-students!(less)

What I liked: There were some really good stories-The End,Everlasting Fire, The Uncharted Isle being three of my favorite ones. Like always, an anthology is a many flavored ice cream cone.
What I didn't like: There are too many stories/poems to be compiled into one anthology. The author has a beef with "Commerce" and I got it the first time. I didn't need to be beaten over the head with it.
A collection of witty, humorous and some thought provoking writing. (less)

There is little Angel and Buffy time-well just a kiss here and there. There are 3 stories in this omnibus: Coyote Moon-a carnival comes to town where all the carnies are were coyotes-I liked this story the best. Night of the Living Rerun-Buffy has to stop the Master from rising again-the ending just sucked. I remembered the Master from the TV show and he was scary. This one? Not so much! Portal through Time-a few of the Master's minions try to get Master to come into power, using a Time Traveling artifact- this one I liked too. We also meet Angelos-who sucks and is a coward which the TV show Angelos never was-and Darla. But all of this is overshadowed by two things: 1- The cover is beautiful! 2-Its Buffy! (less)

It also felt like it was being dragged on and on..forever. 2 stars for this one.
One Thing or Your Mother: A typical Buffy episode story with many things going on at once- a teenager raising a demon who turns on him *surprise!* people of Sunnydale falling into a deep coma every time they try to fall asleep Dru decides to have make a kid Principal Snyder faces a the mother of all demons Angelos is in town Buffy's tutor isn't what he seems the Mayor decides to prepare for Ascension! 3 stars.
Blooded: A Chinese vampire, a Japanese God, the Slayer, multiple cases of body possessions, Willow's inferiority complex, the rest of the gang and Angel! 3 stars.(less)

Adding to the fearsome mixture is a scarecrow possessed by the evil spirit of Samhain. Liked the humor as always but the slang used by Buffy and her friends is just weird in places. I also liked how the scarecrow seemed to instill fear into everybody, including the Slayer.
Bad Bargain (3 stars): During a sale at the High School, various creatures find their way out of the Hellmouth and attack students and teachers alike. Of course, Spike and Dru were attending the sale. Not only does Buffy have to call a truce with Spike, she also has to work with a demonic Pied Piper to send the creatures back. I loved the looks Buffy exchanged with Angel when he arrives on the scene but was disappointed we didn't get to see the couple on their date.
Afterimage (3 stars): A bit more of Angel and I loved it. Angelus' drinking buddy comes to Sunnydale and tries to feed on people's souls by putting them into comas. Cordelia's parts were written really well. My favorite out of the three.(less)

There are some writers..hand them anything and they turn it into a story..Michael Cargill is one of them.
The three stories in this anthology are simple stuff but that doesn’t make them less interesting.
The first story,”Shades of Grey”, is about John. He’s a man who works for the government and is absolutely insane.
The second story is “There and Back Again” which focuses on James who is a British soldier taking part in a war for the first time. The ambiance and the emotions of the war are described beautifully, as is the feeling of guilt and shame when a soldier is asked to retreat.
The last story is called, “Down the Rabbit Hole”, about Tom who has an abusive father whose behavior is getting worse everyday. Then Tom’s favorite toy bunny starts to talk to the kid and solves his problems its own way.
All three stories are based on characters that are flawed due to events in their past and are trying to rise above it.(less)
