So, I had great expectations for Crown of Midnight and the anticipation was enough to make me go stir crazy. To say the least, Crown of Midnight did not disappoint. I gobbled this novel up like there was no tomorrow.
Everyone knows I like strong heroines and Celaena has become one of my all-time favorite heroines. She could kick your ass from ten ways to Sunday. Celaena went through a complete transformation and retribution was imminent. I would break my neck trying to cross the street if I saw her coming. Sarah gave me everything I could want in this book and more. The characters in this series are unforgettable and the action and mystery kept me on the edge of my seat. I was glad to see a different side a Celaena. I have to mention Dorian and Chaol. These men are loveable in their own way and I can’t wait to see where their paths will lead in the next book.
There were surprises around every corner and some mind boggling revelations. This series is a must read. I would recommend it to anyone who will listen. If you haven’t started this series yet, now’s the time to jump aboard. With a well-crafted plot, unforgettable characters, and kickass action, you won’t be disappointed....more

Days of Blood and Starlight takes readers into the minds of multiple characters. This approach was totally unexpected but it hit the nail on the coffin. I was completely taken. In this highly anticipated sequel, no one is safe.
This series has some great characters and my heart went out to Karou and Akiva. They are still facing tough decisions when it comes to the war and their forbidden love. The stakes are high and deadly as ever. I was on pins and needles as I read this book. The writing is superb and the author has a gift for storytelling. She lures you into her world and keeps you turning the pages.
I would recommend this series to anyone who will listen. This series has become one of my favorites and I am looking forward to getting back into the world that Laini has created. It’s one that you'll have a hard time forgetting. Period. ...more

Once I started reading this book, I could not put it down. To follow along as Nalia a.k.a. Sinda goes from living the lifestyle of a Princess to learning how to find her place in a new life without noble means was spellbinding. I could only commend how she handled herself. I couldn’t do it. It was great to see Sinda finally find her niche with her magical abilities and make a life for herself while standing up for herself which was something she didn’t do in the past. I enjoyed the characters in this book immensely. Sinda’s best friend Keirnan was a joy to read about. He was a loyal friend and stood by her through it all.
I enjoyed the setting in THE FALSE PRINCESS. From the palace to the little town Treb to the city of Vivaskari, O’Neal really captured the setting and pulled me deeply into the pages as Sinda navigated her way to find answers about her magic. I love it when a book catches me by surprise and THE FALSE PRINCESS had me feeling like I was on a journey of discovery as Sinda grew into her own and stumbled upon a dangerous secret that could have fatal consequences.
If you’re a historical fantasy fan or just a fan of fantasy, this exciting debut is one not to be missed! I look forward to reading more books by this author. ...more
STARCROSSED lured me into dangerous webs of Digger's life as she ried to outrun the Greenmen (temple guards of the Goddess Celys but they report direcSTARCROSSED lured me into dangerous webs of Digger's life as she ried to outrun the Greenmen (temple guards of the Goddess Celys but they report directly to the King) after a successful job of retrieving important letters from the King's secretary. As with any fantasy novel, STARCROSSED has plenty of important characters and places that are uniquely tied to the plotline which had me trying to wrap my head around each of the character’s motives and beliefs while trying to fit the puzzle pieces together to uncover hidden secrets. As I was reading along, I decided to write out the names and places so I would have the spelling correct, then my list started to look like a glossary. But don’t fret! The book has a Lexicon of terms in the back which is very helpful if you have problems following along.
STARCROSSED has a wide range of personalities but the main heroine, Digger is one of those characters you can't help but like. She's led an interesting and danger filled life as a thief. Her unique magical skill has made her a valuable asset in the streets of Gerse. Through her eyes, I experienced firsthand the dangers that shroud her life. She's brave and she’s always looking for the next priceless commodity or escape route which had me laughing plenty of times at how her mind works. If I had to sum Digger up, I'd say: She’s trapped within a chain of lies and secrets so complex that she’s beginning to find out it isn’t as easy as her skill at picking locks. Another character that kept me guessing was Dual. I wanted to know, what he had up his sleeve. I also wanted to know what he was hiding and what his ultimate goal was for being at the Nemair’s. The whole world that Bunce created was mysteriously intriguing which only lured me further and further into STARCROSSED’s world of magic, power, politics, and secrets.
The whole world of Llyvaraneth, from its lands to the politics, and the people's beliefs of their Gods & Goddesses were quite captivating. I didn't want to put this book down as I followed along as Digger masqueraded as a lady's maid while trying to escape the Greenmen. You never knew what secret was going to be uncovered. STARCROSSED is a well-written novel and I can't wait to see what the sequel has in store for Digger....more

To be able to continue visiting the world that Cassandra Clare has created is a special treat indeed. The Infernal Devices brings to readers a new cast of characters plus a few old ones from TMI (The Mortal Instruments).
It was easy to delve back into the world of Nephilim and Downworlders. CLOCKWORK ANGEL takes readers to the setting of London as Tessa Gray enlists the help of Will, Jem, Charlotte, Henry & Jessie to aid her in her search for her missing brother. My favorite warlock (Magnus Bane) also makes an appearance. I love the London setting in this book. Clare’s descriptions of 1800’s London put me smack-dead in the scenery right alongside the characters. The London setting also gives the story a whole new, dark and edgy feel as the cast set out on their mission to uncover the mystery behind the Magister and The Pandemonium Club.
I can't say enough great things about the cast in this book. Tessa is a heroine that I've enjoyed getting to know. Jem is a sweetheart and Will is mysterious as ever. Of course, Will is my favorite! I love the whole misunderstood thing he has going on - reminds me a bit of Jace Wayland from TMI. What’s not to like about that? Clare continues to lure me into the world that she's created. With a beautiful setting, fascinating characters, and dangerous intrigue, who could ask for anything more? No complaints here.
I can't wait to see what CLOCKWORK PRINCE - the next installment in this awesome series has in store. I don't think I could ever get tired of Clare's world. It’s so great to immerse yourself into her magical world for a little escapism! ...more

I love Kasai’Ice Song is a new and welcomed addition to the sci-fi/fantasy world and for it to be Kasai’s debut novel, to say the least I’m impressed!
I love Kasai’s writing style and the imagery in Ice Song is fascinating. This novel grabbed my attention well into the first few pages. Kasai’s writing is so vivid and I felt as though I was watching a movie on big screen. I was captivated by the world that Kasai created involving somatics (people born with animal genes/mutations) and the rare and highly sought after traders (their genetic makeup allows them to switch genders).
The characters and places in Ice Song are extraordinary and I was amazed as to how creatively imagined they are. Sorykah morphs into Soryk - her male counterpart under stress and neither one of them has any recollection of the other’s whereabouts. The secondary characters are noteworthy too as they tie into the plot quite well.
The plot consists of Sorykah/Soryk’s journey to find her infant twins. The constant interactions with interesting people and new places traveled during their journey kept me turning the pages. It was nice to see who/what Sorykah/Soryk would encounter next.
I look forward to reading more of Kasai’s work. ...more

It’s refreshing and the more I read her books the more I fall in love with her world. She has crafted a beautiful setting with wonderful characters that will keep you turning the pages in the wee hours of the night.
Sea Glass picks up were Storm Glass left off with the capture of a certain Warper. Opal goes through a complete transformation in this book and I enjoyed seeing the stages of her growth throughout this book. Snyder gives us more unexpected twists and turns in Sea Glass and I’m so happy about one in particular that we get to see at the end of the book but I’ll keep it to myself because I don’t want to spoil it for anyone.
Snyder did grace us with some of our favorite characters from the Study Series again and I have to say that Janco is one of mine. He had me cracking up in this book and I can only hope that I will get to see more of him in the future along with some of the Study Series cast. Kade has grown on me tremendously since Storm Glass and I’m excited to see what the future has in store for him.
If you are looking for a magical setting away from Vampires, Werewolves and Fairies, I think you should take a chance on this series. It will totally knock your socks off!

I was enamored with BRIGHLY WOVEN from beginning to end. This is why I love the fantasy genre – getting to discover new worlds and the characters that make them exciting to live in. Sydelle is one of those strong heroines that I crave to see more of in YA books. The dangerous journey that she had to endure on her mission to protect her village from war could have broken anyone with the formidable task at hand. But not Sydelle, she’s got the spunk and the courage to brave the most dangerous roads. North-What can I say about Wayland North? Roguish charms and underneath that hard exterior, he has the heart of gold. Sydelle is strong on her own but Sydelle and North together- their chemistry ignites the most dangerous storms.
Bracken’s writing is splendidly colorful with its beautiful imagery and spellbinding plot. Once I started reading BRIGHTLY WOVEN, I could NOT stop turning the pages. This book was like a surprise gift – I never knew what to expect. And like all great gifts, BRIGHTLY WOVEN captured my heart. I fell in love with the world Bracken created. With endless dangers accompanied with magical elements at every turn, the pages could not turn fast enough.
A great start to what could possibly be a great series, I can’t wait to see what adventures and dangerous assignments Sydelle and North will come upon next. Readers looking for an enchanting romance surrounded by magical intrigue and unforgettable characters will devour this novel. ...more

It's original cFirst off, the premise of Mirrorscape is quite fascinating when you think about being able to travel to a new world through paintings. It's original concept is what grabbed my attention to read this book. The book introduces readers to Mel, a talented painter who lives in a small town where color is only available through the purchase of Pleasures (sight, taste, smell, touch and sound) which cost a hefty penny. Mel soon finds himself with a chance to fulfill his dreams of being an apprentice for the Master painter but he’s quickly tossed into danger between his apprenticeship and the corrupt Fifth Mystery who control the Pleasures. With the help of his new friends Ludo and Wren, they step into a magical world of paintings to uncover the mysteries behind these paintings.
This book quickly drew me in and I wanted to uncover the mysteries surrounding the paintings just as much as the characters. Wilks created a great cast of characters. Mel was constantly stumbling into situations. It seems there was something new and exciting to uncover at every turn. The secondary characters were entertaining especially the corrupt members of the Mystery which only added more excitement and danger to the story.
Wilks has crafted an enchanting world where anything is possible in the eye of the beholder. The imagery is Mirrorcsape is beautifully crafted and brought the book to life even more for me. Wilks did a fantastic job with the world that he’s created and I can’t wait to see what he has in store next for Mel and crew. Mirroscape is a great start to a series that will have you glued to the story down to the very last page. ...more

His treatments in the Mercy Tube are painful and he takes solace in the time that he spends alone to reflect on these things. But on his birthday, Theo receives a mysterious package which leads to a series of unfortunate events that involves a robbery that leads to dire consequences which finally explains why he has to always wear his black glove. Everything Theo thought he knew about his life is about to be changed forever.
It’s unfortunate for Theo to have been kept in the dark about his illness or should I say ability only to find out on top of that all is not what it seems with his dear guardian, Dr. Saint whose head of the Society of Good Works. Theo finally gets a taste of the real world, albeit a dangerous one when he’s rescued by The Society of Unrelenting Vigilance, a network that’s been keeping tabs on their foes while preserving the past’s legend of the Candle Man. He now has to learn how to cope and live in the real world now that he knows about his ability and possible link to the legendary hero, Candle Man. It’s not easy for Theo to adjust since he’s been locked away his whole life without any outside influences.
Dakin’s well written blend of twists and turns in Candle Man kept me turning the pages to uncover the mysteries surrounding Theo’s ability and his importance to The Society of Unrelenting Vigilance. This book is a great start to a series with a great cast of characters and a thrilling plot. This book also has some interesting creatures - smoglodytes (foul creatures that can only survive in the smog) and garghouls (gargoyles) not to mention some great Villains that build even more excitement throughout the book. It will be very interesting to see what the next adventure for Theo and The Society of Unrelenting Vigilance embark on in the next installment.

In thHanley transported me on a fantastical journey in the world of Feyland where I glimpsed an enchanting tale of friendship, discovery and betrayal.
In the world of Feyland, Zaria has become one of the most powerful fairies in Feyland’s history and you know what they say “With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility.” Zaria discovers a diabolical plot spinning its web over Feyland. Her life has become infested with wicked deeds and her will is about to be tested. Can she survive the tyrannical labyrinth that’s trying to influence her? Zaria enlists her closest allies to help uncover the conspiracy that has be leeching off of Feyland and the mysteries surrounding her family’s disappearance.
Instead of and world building background descriptions, Hanley cleverly introduces a world full of magical creatures with fascinating entries by Feyland’s Historian to intertwine perfectly with the magical background of this novel. I love everything about Hanley’s world of Tirfeyne especially the descriptions of differences between each magical creature and their perceptions of other species’ magical capabilities. I also enjoyed reading about the inner workings of the Council and how Feyland’s magical hierarchy was determined. The magical spells were even great!
I could go on and on about how much I enjoyed reading this book, but then I would be spoiling it for everyone else, so I’m going to leave you with – Hanley crafted a wonderful tale of unforgettable characters in a world where fairies, genies, gnomes, humans and magic collide to transport readers on a magical journey where you’re compelled to turn the pages only to realize that once the story ends you were left Feyland-Struck.
With the way Violet Wings ended, I can’t wait to devour the pages in the sequel!
