With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadow-hunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he's willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City — whatever the cost?
Finally, it’s come down to the battle of the century, who’s going to be the victor (Shadow Hunters or Downworlders or maybe both). This was a fantastic ending to a great series. This book has everything humor, action, romance, suspense. We finally get our question answered: So is Clary and Jace really brother and sister? Well, let me just say “my my my” I won’t go into the details you will have to find out for yourself. Cassandra introduces us to a new character that goes by the name of Sebastian, well who is this mystery guy and could he be the link to all puzzles? Oh! I have to mention Alec and Magnus, and I have to say “I absolutely adore them”.
The writing and plot is exceptional. Cassandra Clare continues to surprise me with the plots and twist. I was so enthralled I had to know what’s going to happen and ended staying up in the wee hours of the night to finish the book. I’m sad to see that this is the last installment to the Mortal Instrument Series, but we have more to look forward to with the Infernal Devices Series next year. (less)

I can't wait to read the next novel which is the prequel to Graceling titled Fire due out October 2009. (less)

This story is about Opal - a glass maker with magical abilities on her journey of discovery and it takes place 4-5 years after novel Poison Study from the Study Series.
Snyder has done it again! She captures you in her magical world and keeps you captivated. Opal finds herself on an impossible journey to investigate matters that have lead to the deaths of multiple stormdancers. While on her mission, Opal continues to struggle coming to terms with her grief about her past and emerging abilities and she has no choice but to experiment with these new abilities whether she likes it or not. With enemies at every corner, Opal acquires help from Kade – the stormdancer, on her mission to solve the puzzles surrounding the glass orbs used to tame the storms. She meets new companions throughout her journey and runs into some old friends too. Opal’s still not confident in her new abilities and she continues to question her use of magic.
I love Snyder’s writing and all of her characters even the secondary characters are well developed. The imagery with the different clans and their surroundings is unique. I still have the same picture of Sitia’s landscape in my head as I did reading the Study Series and everything was as I remembered it.
I was ecstatic to see some of my favorite characters from the Study Series who had brief appearances in this book. Storm Glass lures you in and keeps you turning pages in the wee hours of the night. I love Snyder’s magical world, full of mystery and it has so many intricate plots woven into the storyline that will leave you begging for more.
I can’t wait to read the sequel Sea Glass which is scheduled to be released in September 2009. Fans of the Study Series will be delighted with Storm Glass.(less)

Ai Ling discovers that she has mysterious powers and while on her journey she is still discovering what these powers are. Ai Ling and company get the shock of their lives on their journey when they discover that Ai Ling is more than what she seems. Ai Ling is befuddled with this information and has to pull all her bravery and will power to defeat this evil force that has a hand in her life.
Ai Ling finds herself face to face with a powerful foe and she will need all the help she can get....
This is Cindy Pon’s debut novel and she did a fantastic job. The writing is spellbinding and the imagery kept me fascinated. I love all of the different lands that the characters traveled through. The characterization is on point. Ai Ling is a strong heroine considering her Xian customs and one of my favorite characters in this novel is Li Rong – I found myself constantly laughing or smiling throughout this book at him. This was a hard book to put down and I can say I would have finished sooner if I was able to read it on a weekend. I tried to get as many sneaks as I could during lunch or on my commute home because I had to know what would happen next. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Ai Ling and company in the future. I will definitely be reading more of Cindy Pon’s novels. 4.5 out of 5 Stars(less)

Well it doesn’t get any better for Billi when a war is brewing in her city. Billi may have to sacrifice her wants and needs for the greater good to save humanity from an Ancient who’s after one of the Order’s protected treasures and if unleashed will bring about the 10th plague…
Can Billi and fellow Knights Templar stop this powerful enemy and his ban of Unholy from unleashing this evil on London when death is only one knock at her door…?
Sarwat creates a dangerous world full mystifying characters with action-packed and adrenaline pumping scenes. With its sinister and tension filled plot, Devil’s Kiss kept me turning the pages. Devil’s Kiss is filled with rich biblical history and Sarwat did an amazing job linking the pieces to the story. The creatures in this book are sinister indeed with ghuls, devils, and dark angels providing Devil’s Kiss with notable foes for the Knights Templar to protect the world against.
Billi is this bad-ass heroine who knows what she wants and will stop at nothing to get it even if it could possibly lead to her death. I love the characters in Devil’s Kiss. Sarwat created some powerful and unforgettable characters and their struggles to do what’s right for the greater good left a lasting impression. Kaye was a welcomed surprise and I was in awe of him from the first time he was introduced. Arthur, Billi’s dad and master of the Templar Knights was something straight out of RAMBO except with a sword. I can only describe him with one word – "RUTHLESS." He’s the essence of what a leader has to deal with in the face of destruction especially when you have millions of lives at stake.
Sarwat’s Devil’s Kiss story line is PERFECTION! I was kept on the edge of my seat. It’s a thrilling and powerfully entertaining tale and I was extremely wrapped up in the chaos that surrounded Billi’s and the Templar’s lives right down to the very last page.
The Dark Goddess is the next installment in this series and I can’t wait to see what the Unholy unleashes next to grab hold of Billi’s and the Knights Templar’s attention…
If you’re a big fan of Supernatural & Buffy, I think you’ll enjoy the Devil’s Kiss!

In the world of Feyland, Zaria has become one of the most powerful fairies in Feyland’s history and you know what they say “With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility.” Zaria discovers a diabolical plot spinning its web over Feyland. Her life has become infested with wicked deeds and her will is about to be tested. Can she survive the tyrannical labyrinth that’s trying to influence her? Zaria enlists her closest allies to help uncover the conspiracy that has be leeching off of Feyland and the mysteries surrounding her family’s disappearance.
Instead of and world building background descriptions, Hanley cleverly introduces a world full of magical creatures with fascinating entries by Feyland’s Historian to intertwine perfectly with the magical background of this novel. I love everything about Hanley’s world of Tirfeyne especially the descriptions of differences between each magical creature and their perceptions of other species’ magical capabilities. I also enjoyed reading about the inner workings of the Council and how Feyland’s magical hierarchy was determined. The magical spells were even great!
I could go on and on about how much I enjoyed reading this book, but then I would be spoiling it for everyone else, so I’m going to leave you with – Hanley crafted a wonderful tale of unforgettable characters in a world where fairies, genies, gnomes, humans and magic collide to transport readers on a magical journey where you’re compelled to turn the pages only to realize that once the story ends you were left Feyland-Struck.
With the way Violet Wings ended, I can’t wait to devour the pages in the sequel!

His treatments in the Mercy Tube are painful and he takes solace in the time that he spends alone to reflect on these things. But on his birthday, Theo receives a mysterious package which leads to a series of unfortunate events that involves a robbery that leads to dire consequences which finally explains why he has to always wear his black glove. Everything Theo thought he knew about his life is about to be changed forever.
It’s unfortunate for Theo to have been kept in the dark about his illness or should I say ability only to find out on top of that all is not what it seems with his dear guardian, Dr. Saint whose head of the Society of Good Works. Theo finally gets a taste of the real world, albeit a dangerous one when he’s rescued by The Society of Unrelenting Vigilance, a network that’s been keeping tabs on their foes while preserving the past’s legend of the Candle Man. He now has to learn how to cope and live in the real world now that he knows about his ability and possible link to the legendary hero, Candle Man. It’s not easy for Theo to adjust since he’s been locked away his whole life without any outside influences.
Dakin’s well written blend of twists and turns in Candle Man kept me turning the pages to uncover the mysteries surrounding Theo’s ability and his importance to The Society of Unrelenting Vigilance. This book is a great start to a series with a great cast of characters and a thrilling plot. This book also has some interesting creatures - smoglodytes (foul creatures that can only survive in the smog) and garghouls (gargoyles) not to mention some great Villains that build even more excitement throughout the book. It will be very interesting to see what the next adventure for Theo and The Society of Unrelenting Vigilance embark on in the next installment.

It's original concept is what grabbed my attention to read this book. The book introduces readers to Mel, a talented painter who lives in a small town where color is only available through the purchase of Pleasures (sight, taste, smell, touch and sound) which cost a hefty penny. Mel soon finds himself with a chance to fulfill his dreams of being an apprentice for the Master painter but he’s quickly tossed into danger between his apprenticeship and the corrupt Fifth Mystery who control the Pleasures. With the help of his new friends Ludo and Wren, they step into a magical world of paintings to uncover the mysteries behind these paintings.
This book quickly drew me in and I wanted to uncover the mysteries surrounding the paintings just as much as the characters. Wilks created a great cast of characters. Mel was constantly stumbling into situations. It seems there was something new and exciting to uncover at every turn. The secondary characters were entertaining especially the corrupt members of the Mystery which only added more excitement and danger to the story.
Wilks has crafted an enchanting world where anything is possible in the eye of the beholder. The imagery is Mirrorcsape is beautifully crafted and brought the book to life even more for me. Wilks did a fantastic job with the world that he’s created and I can’t wait to see what he has in store next for Mel and crew. Mirroscape is a great start to a series that will have you glued to the story down to the very last page. (less)

I was enamored with BRIGHLY WOVEN from beginning to end. This is why I love the fantasy genre – getting to discover new worlds and the characters that make them exciting to live in. Sydelle is one of those strong heroines that I crave to see more of in YA books. The dangerous journey that she had to endure on her mission to protect her village from war could have broken anyone with the formidable task at hand. But not Sydelle, she’s got the spunk and the courage to brave the most dangerous roads. North-What can I say about Wayland North? Roguish charms and underneath that hard exterior, he has the heart of gold. Sydelle is strong on her own but Sydelle and North together- their chemistry ignites the most dangerous storms.
Bracken’s writing is splendidly colorful with its beautiful imagery and spellbinding plot. Once I started reading BRIGHTLY WOVEN, I could NOT stop turning the pages. This book was like a surprise gift – I never knew what to expect. And like all great gifts, BRIGHTLY WOVEN captured my heart. I fell in love with the world Bracken created. With endless dangers accompanied with magical elements at every turn, the pages could not turn fast enough.
A great start to what could possibly be a great series, I can’t wait to see what adventures and dangerous assignments Sydelle and North will come upon next. Readers looking for an enchanting romance surrounded by magical intrigue and unforgettable characters will devour this novel. (less)

It’s refreshing and the more I read her books the more I fall in love with her world. She has crafted a beautiful setting with wonderful characters that will keep you turning the pages in the wee hours of the night.
Sea Glass picks up were Storm Glass left off with the capture of a certain Warper. Opal goes through a complete transformation in this book and I enjoyed seeing the stages of her growth throughout this book. Snyder gives us more unexpected twists and turns in Sea Glass and I’m so happy about one in particular that we get to see at the end of the book but I’ll keep it to myself because I don’t want to spoil it for anyone.
Snyder did grace us with some of our favorite characters from the Study Series again and I have to say that Janco is one of mine. He had me cracking up in this book and I can only hope that I will get to see more of him in the future along with some of the Study Series cast. Kade has grown on me tremendously since Storm Glass and I’m excited to see what the future has in store for him.
If you are looking for a magical setting away from Vampires, Werewolves and Fairies, I think you should take a chance on this series. It will totally knock your socks off!

I love Kasai’s writing style and the imagery in Ice Song is fascinating. This novel grabbed my attention well into the first few pages. Kasai’s writing is so vivid and I felt as though I was watching a movie on big screen. I was captivated by the world that Kasai created involving somatics (people born with animal genes/mutations) and the rare and highly sought after traders (their genetic makeup allows them to switch genders).
The characters and places in Ice Song are extraordinary and I was amazed as to how creatively imagined they are. Sorykah morphs into Soryk - her male counterpart under stress and neither one of them has any recollection of the other’s whereabouts. The secondary characters are noteworthy too as they tie into the plot quite well.
The plot consists of Sorykah/Soryk’s journey to find her infant twins. The constant interactions with interesting people and new places traveled during their journey kept me turning the pages. It was nice to see who/what Sorykah/Soryk would encounter next.
I look forward to reading more of Kasai’s work. (less)
