Barnes has an amazing talent when it comes to getting inside the characters' head and portraying every emotion where it resonates with the reader.
I can’t tell you how much I love strong heroines and Brynn is one of my favorites. This girl has been through it all. She handles everything that comes her way like the alpha that she is. In Brynn’s case, that doesn’t always mean that her decisions don’t have consequences. There were some major events in this book and let me tell you that on two occasions I balled my eyes off. I never saw it coming!
I would recommend this series to anyone whether you love weres/shape shifters or not. This series is ranked at the top of my list along with the best of the best. If you haven’t started this series, why wait? This is the perfect time to jump on board and enjoy a series that’s filled with a great cast of characters and some unbelievable action. You won’t be disappointed!(less)

In this installment, Clare pulls the reader deeper into the inner workings of Shadowhunter politics as Tessa, Will, Jem, and friends try to hunt down the illusive Magister. This series is so addictive – you don’t want to put it down!
This book broke my heart. All of these characters are fighting or yearning for something. I got to know each and every one of these characters on a deeper level. Clare continues to keep up in suspense as far as Tessa’s origins. But, we do get some shockers as the twists continue to throw you for a loop. Let me state again how much I adore love triangles. CLOCKWORK PRINCE had me twisted up all inside as Tessa tried to understand her feelings for Will and Jem. It’s a good one – that’s all I’m going to say on that!
It’s amazing that Clare can continue to craft these amazing books filled with lovable characters and great story telling. It always comes down to that last chapter/page. I always dread turning to the last page of these books. I never know what to expect because surely the wait is mind-boggling. I’ve fallen in love with these characters and I can’t wait to continue their journey in the next installment.(less)

This book is so different from many of the werewolf books that I’ve read. I ate up the whole trackers against the infected (Lupine syndrome) angle. The issues of prejudice in this book made this book more appealing in my eyes. No one was safe from suspicion – anyone could be infected.
The murder of Mac’s best friend Amy was full of unknowns and it was fascinating to read alongside Mac as she tried to solve Amy’s murder. There were so many surprises in this book that kept me guessing throughout. Peacock did a great job of shrouding this book in mystery with a good dose of gruesome.
I am curious to see what happens during the next installment as Mac continues her journey. If you’re looking for a werewolf mystery with a twist, I suggest giving HEMLOCK a try. Hopefully, you’ll be on pins and needles as you try to solve the murder of Mac’s best friend while receiving eye openers along the way. (less)

In this installment, Zara is adjusting to her new abilities. She's stronger, faster & her senses are sharper - All part of being a pixie queen. As exciting as those abilities sound, Zara has a lot on her plate. With kids continuing to come up missing in her town, Zara has plenty to worry about. On top of protecting the students in her town from the bad pixies, she's still trying to find out how to get to Valhalla to free Nick and unfortunately that's with the help of her new king Astley, whom Zara still doesn't trust fully. Plus, she has to deal with the possible fallout of her were grandmother finding out that she's a pixie now. What is a girl to do?
I enjoyed Zara's fierceness in this installment. She was kicking pixie butt left & right. She was determined to do whatever it took to keep her town safe while trying to save Nick, even though she still had doubts about being a pixie & who to trust. What I found interesting in this installment was how Nick wasn't a concern for me. I can only blame that on the Hotness that is Astley. Don't get me wrong now, I loved Nick in the earlier installments but Astley has this mysteriousness about him. Just like Zara, I didn't know what his motives were. I do love the whole regal persona he throws off. Plus, he seemed to sincerely care about Zara and put her needs and safety above all.
This installment took Zara through the ringer. Danger was always one step behind her and the ones she cared about. She had to face so much for one so young. But she stayed true to her character through it all. I’m curious to see what will happen in the next installment. Carrie Jones continues to pull me deeper into this series with her twists and turns. I’m just glad I can look forward to reading more about Zara and the gang.

Billi continues to kick ass against these Unholy (all the supernatural evil that preys on mankind). These creatures are formidable and strike with deadly efficiency. It was nerve-racking to see if Billi and fellow Templars would survive the night. This action packed and drama filled installment had me holding my breath in anticipation of the dangers to come. Sarwat continues to enthrall me with his world building, great cast of characters, and the ever so dangerous life of a Templar.
Billi is still grieving over the death of her best friend Kay. In order to cope, she’s put her duties as a Templar above all else. Soon, Billi finds out that things aren’t as simple as living in the past with the dead. Now, she has to live and look to the future, even if that future involves an Oracle powerful enough to end the world. She will do everything to keep this from happening. Her journey soon leads her to Ivan Romanov, the new love interest in this installment and he’s as delicious as they come. Billi is epic as far as strong heroines go. She’s been through so much at the young age of fifteen. And just when it seems like she’s out for the count, she continues to surprise me with her strength. She’s the kind of protagonist that I love reading about.
In DARK GODDESS, no one and I mean no one is exempt in this kill or be killed world of Unholy. Get ready for a fast paced world, full of creatures that go bump in the night, as Billi and fellow Templars try to save the world. I’m ready for more adrenaline packed and rip-roaring adventures from Billi and crew. Bring ‘em on! I would love to see this series on the big screen. (less)

I thought Bryn had it hard in RAISED BY WOLVES, but she amazes me everything she’s faced with danger. This girl is a fighter right down to her very core. She’s on the fast track to becoming one of my favorite heroines.
I fell instantly in love with RAISED BY WOLVES and I wondered if TRIAL BY FIRE would match or surpass its intensity. I had no need to worry because this book continued to delve deeper into pack politics where one move could cost Bryn her life. I believe Barnes has created a realistic depiction of the hierarchy and life of werewolves, even so that I’ve started to care for the well-being of the characters. Her character development was spot on and I look forward to getting to know the characters even more.
If you are a lover of werewolves or even paranormal for that matter, this is one series I would highly recommend. You never know what you’re going to get out of this series and that’s one of the things I love most about this series – I’m always surprised. I can’t wait to see what happens next! (less)

There are some books that you just have a feeling about – you know you won’t be able to put the book down. NIGHTSHADE is one of those books. Cremer’s writing makes you feel like you’re right there with the characters. From the setting right down to the mysteries surrounding the characters, I was hooked!
The characters in this book are one of a kind. Normally when a book has so many characters you tend not to get a feel for each of the characters but Cremer managed to pull it off. These characters had plenty of depth. I loved the dynamics of each of the Packs. I was highly fascinated and curious about the hierarchy of the Keepers, Guardians, and Searchers. I didn’t know what to believe or who to trust. I wanted to know everything about them. This book kept me guessing. The pace of the book flowed effortlessly so that one minute I was at the beginning and the next I was at the end of the book. I didn’t want it to end.
Calla (Alpha of the Nightshades) is the type of heroine I love to read about. She’s strong and will do anything to protect the ones she loves. I was so torn at times when it came to her relationship woes and the pressures that were thrown at her to do what’s right for the sake of the Pack. I must admit that the two love interests are both hot tamales! I loved both of these guys. Ren is alpha of the Banes and he has that cocky confidence that I love but he also shows a sensitive side when it comes to protecting his pack. I loved that about him. Then there’s the new guy in town, Shay. He throws a wrench in the packs’ secret world. He’s not afraid to question them about what he believes is right. He got plenty of brownie points for standing up to the wolves. All of the secondary characters were a joy to read about. All in all I found myself torn between the two male leads which is crazy for me since I always have a favorite when it comes to love triangles.
NIGHTSHADE has become one of my favorite werewolf novels. It’s a bit on the mature side and I love that. Nothing is watered down and I love the sizzling attraction between the main characters. It’s HOT! There aren’t many books that I will reread but this is one that I wanted to reread as soon as I finished. It’s that good! I know the wait for WOLFSBANE is going to be eating at me. 2011 can’t get here fast enough!(less)

Despain pulled out all the stops in THE LOST SAINT, making this action-packed thriller an impeccable read. Let's just say I couldn't put this book down once I started reading it.
THE LOST SAINT introduces readers to new characters and a deadly foe. Grace manages to come into her own as she tries to balance her powers without the wolf taking over with some help from the mysterious and alluring Talbot. With all the secrets waiting to spill out, I felt like Grace - I didn't know who to trust as she continued her search for Jude. The dynamic duo that is Daniel and Grace continues to make my heart pound as these two try to find answers of their own.
Dark, dangerous, and downright delicious, THE LOST SAINT sunk its claws in and never let up. When I finished reading this book, all I could think of was "More Please!" This series has become one of my favorites and I'm excited to see what Despain has in store for her readers in the next installment, especially after the ending of this book.(less)
