DARKNESS BECOMES HER packed a punch as Gods and monsters battled it out for power over New 2 (New Orleans). From the very start of this book, I was immediately drawn into Ari’s world. She’s different and she wants answers about her mom. Unfortunately for Ari, those answers come with a price. Things kicked into high gear when Ari goes searching for answers in New 2 where talk of paranormal creatures resides. This was a train ride that I did not want to exit!
I love the protagonist’s voice. Ari is one tough gal and she knows how to dish out punishment if needed. In New 2, Ari finds kindred souls and for once feels like she belongs. I enjoyed the adventures that she had to go on to find answers about her family and herself. As brutal as some of the answers where, it all came together perfectly to create a heart-pounding page-turner. I also love the setting. Keaton’s detail to the setting of New 2 drew me into her world as if I was right there with Ari experiencing its beauty. The sequences of DARKNESS BECOMES HER take place over a few days and I enjoyed reading about the history and characters that formed the Novem. The Misfits as they are called that Ari becomes acquainted with are enjoyable and I loved their camaraderie. Sebastian, tall, dark and moody made my heart go pitter patter during a few scenes and I found myself wanting more scenes with Ari and Sebastian. DARKNESS BECOMES HER has an interesting cast of characters that’s for sure!
After reading the synopsis of this book, I would have never thought that I would be getting the treats that were written inside this page turner. It’s different and was totally unexpected. The only thing I can say now is: More Please! Yes, I’m curious to how things will play out in the next installment. If they are anything like this book, then I know I’ll be in for a surprise. I can’t wait to read more! ...more
The Queen of the Otherworld is back with this exciting new series as Maya tries to uncover the mysteries surrounding her heritage along with the deathThe Queen of the Otherworld is back with this exciting new series as Maya tries to uncover the mysteries surrounding her heritage along with the death of a friend. Armstrong introduces us to a new cast of characters and a small town setting on the edge of nowhere, where a medical research facility sets the stage for tons of mystery.
I have to say that I am really fond of the characters in this book. Maya is that girl next door, who you can't help but love. I love her personality and her interactions with her dad, no matter how small, were some of my favorite moments in this book. Rafe, the new resident bad boy made this read all the more tantalizing with his charm and heated scenes with Maya. I also enjoyed getting to know these two as they searched for answers involving the medical facility.
The myths and stories behind the Native's beliefs on supernatural beings were quite intriguing. It's different and seeing Maya's love for animals and nature was a real treat. Some familiar names are mentioned from The Darkest Powers Trilogy, which only increased my anticipation to solve how everyone's tied together. THE GATHERING is a fantastic start to a series that I have a feeling is going to be just as great as The Darkest Powers Trilogy. ...more

Well, I don't think I can say much more than what other readers are saying about the ending. I for one did not cry but found myself rationalizing what should have happened when you think about the fighting skills of the ones involved. Hmm...I pondered it for a few minutes and came to the conclusion that had there been more action and then it led to the same ending, then I would have given this book 5 stars. With that said, I love this series. I too am invested in the characters and their well-being.
Now, I don't think I would have been satisfied if every thing was all rainbows and butterflies. Ms. Neill needed to shake thinks up a bit and that she did. Again, I would have been screaming to the rafters if that particular scene wasn't so sudden. If only there could have been more leading up to that - I'm talking about a test of skills and see who comes out on top. Oh well, I'm going to take Ms. Neill at her word and trust that DRINK DEEPER is going to come at us with a vengeance with a capital V. ...more

ALPHA is the last book in this mind-blowing series and I’m so so sad to see this series end. I can’t talk about ALPHSo it’s come down to this…THE END
ALPHA is the last book in this mind-blowing series and I’m so so sad to see this series end. I can’t talk about ALPHA without giving praise to the other books that led up to this final installment. This series has become one of my favorites - let's just say it's in the top 3. I remember when I first started this series. After I read the excerpt of STRAY online, I was hooked and it only got better from there.
I purchased STRAY & ROGUE together, so I kind of started this series when it was new. I grew to love this series and the characters as if they were real. It’s unbelievable to get to experience the growth of the characters in this series and the growth of the author’s writing. With each book that I devoured, I felt that much closer to the characters. This series took me through so much. This is a testament to Rachel’s writing that I laughed, got angry, and balled my eyes out with this series. Is it wrong for me to not want this series to end? I’ve become that attached to these characters. I think Rachel could do a spinoff in the Shifter world. I’m just saying.
I didn’t know what to expect coming into reading ALPHA, oh I had some guesses but I could have never predicted the pain that it would cause me to actually read this book. Faythe and her Pride have been through so much and I couldn’t wait to see some payback. Not to mention what us Shifter fans have been on pins and needles waiting for: Who will Faythe pick? Will it be Marc or Jace? My heart went out to both of the men vying for Faythe’s love. In the end, I couldn’t have agreed more and that’s all I’m going to say on that. Rachel did a fantastic job and even I didn’t know who she would end up with. Both of these men are great in their own way.
The outcome of the events from the previous novel that led up to the oncoming war was brutal. I didn’t see it coming. The surprises and twists kept knocking me off my feet. I couldn’t have asked for a better cast, plot, or ending. I could go on and on about this series but all I can say is, if you have not read this series, you don’t know what you are missing. This series has everything: Action, Romance, Suspense, Humor, and the best Shapeshifting cast I’ve ever read about.
Brava to Rachel for creating an unforgettable series! I’m going to miss it!...more

Gwen Williams has kept her shape-shifting secret from everyone due to the prejudices against Others. But when Others start turning up dead, Gwen is determined to get to the bottom of the murders even if her own life ends up on the line. I thoroughly enjoyed the world that Kincy created. I never thought I’d be reading about a pooka (a shapeshifting spirit), but Kincy had no problems drawing me into Gwen’s world of shape-shifters.
I was intrigued with the premise of OTHERS. These mythical characters are living in the human world and even shop right alongside us in grocery stores. Mixing both human and Other in a realistic setting, drew me more into this book. Gwen continued to battle against her half pooka nature and the consequences of what it would be like to live freely. Although she considered herself a ‘bloodborn’ Other, she was quick to throw blame on Others that she considered ‘diseased.’ She had her own biases against others to deal with, and it was nice to see the growth of her character throughout the book. Tavian, a fox spirit, was my favorite character in this book. He’s so different from what I typically read when dealing with a paranormal love interest. He was great addition to this book.
I’ll be looking forward to reading BLOODBORN, the next installment in this series. I can’t help but wonder what Kincy has up her sleeve for this sequel! OTHER will be sure to entice readers looking for an intriguing mix of paranormal, romance, and mystery....more
