This is my story: ************************* Leaving my house around 6:25pm, I headed out the door and I thought, just my luck on one of the most important days of my life, it’s raining cats and dogs.
I hopped into my car and raced to my appointment in hopes of not being late. I finally arrived at the building with 3 minutes to spare. I jumped out my car without grabbing an umbrella and jogged to the entrance. As I’m walking down the hall, I see my reflection in the mirror. “God I look horrid! “ You know that look – like you’ve been dumped over the head with a bucket of water. “Oh, well there’s nothing I can do about that now.”
Finally this is it. I’m standing at the entrance of the door that could be my possible salvation. I take a deep breath and try to control my nerves as much as possible. “Here goes nothing.” I knock on the door.
Dr. Chen opens the door. “Hi Tina, it’s so nice to see you again. Come in, what can I do for you today?”
I make my way over to the couch across from Dr. Chen’s desk and take a seat. At this point everything imaginable is going through my head.
“Uh-hum” Dr. Chen clears his throat rescuing me from my jumbled thoughts.
“I’m so sorry to disturb you at such a late hour, but I needed someone to talk to.”
“No worries, my door is always open for you, now what seems to be the matter?”
I shake my head “I don’t know where to start.”
“Now, now my dear, It will be alright." He coos. "Just start from the beginning.”
His voice is soothing. “It all started with this book I read.”
Dr. Chen arches a brow. “A book you say?”
“Yes, it’s called Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick.”
Dr. Chen nods. “Ok, go on.”
I couldn’t take this, so I blurted. “I think I’m obsessed Dr. Chen!” There. It’s out. I’ve said it.
Dr. Chen looks confused. “What makes you think that dear?”
“There’s this character in the book named Patch and he’s all I ever think about. I don’t know what’s wrong with me!”
He squints and eyes me curiously. “What do you mean he’s all you think about?” Oh My God. I bet he thinks I’m crazy! And as if he could read my mind, he says.
“Tina, whatever you tell me stays between us, Patient – Doctor Confidentiality.” This is reassuring, so I go on.
“Dr. Chen, I seem to be obsessed with a fictional character! Is that normal?”
“Hmm.” He nods. “I see, well let me just grab my journal and see if we can put your mind at ease.”
He walks over to his bookshelf and grabs a journal and flips to a page.
“Yes, Yes here it is.” He slides the journal over to me and points at a photo on the page. I’m taken back by the photo staring up at me. It’s a photo of Edward Cullen, but that’s not what catches my attention, it’s the photo next to it of a dark haired, dark eyed Angel that seem to see right into your soul. Patch Cipriano.
I look up at Dr. Chen accusingly. “What is this? Why do you have pictures of fictional characters? Is this some kind of joke?”
He shakes his head. “I’m afraid not Tina. What you see here is a typical case of Hush, Hush fanaticism.”
“What? What exactly does that mean?”
“It’s rather simple really, Tina what you are experiencing is quite normal.”
“Normal? How is this obsession normal?”
“Let me put your mind at ease dear, you are not the only one who’s experienced this.”
“I’m not!” I can’t believe it. I breathe a sigh of relief, then point to the picture of Patch. “How do I fix th-th-this? Whatever this is?”
Dr. Chen smirks. “Quite easily actually, all you have to do is reread the book until he’s out of your system.”
“Huh? Is that possible?”
“Of Course!” He points to the photo of Patch. “Now, why don’t you tell me how you came to be obsessed with this character Patch?”
“Do you think it will help?”
“I most certainly do!”
I take a deep breath and tell him my story. ************************* If I didn’t know anything about this book, I don’t think I would ever have thought that Hush, Hush was Fitzpatrick’s debut novel. The writing is brilliant! Becca took me on a journey and I was thoroughly entertained. I was caught up in the world wind of Nora & Patch at the first page, this book is addictive and I could not put it down for one minute. I broke all my review rules to read this book and that’s saying a lot!
Fitzpatrick did a fantastic job with the characters in Hush, Hush. I laughed throughout this book at Nora and Vee’s conversations and strange dealings. These characters are so relatable paranormal aside. This is one of the reasons I love this book, these characters are downright fun and entertaining.
What can I say about Patch? Tall, Dark & Dangerously Sexy! I don’t know why he’s so alluring, maybe it’s because he’s a Bad Boy. Whatever it is, Becca did an incredible job portraying him and I can finally confess that Patch is my new fictional crush! I found myself smiling throughout this whole book.
I love when a book can keep me guessing. This book kept me turning the pages for so many reasons. I had to know what would happen next, whether it was for sizzling scenes with Patch & Nora or downright hilarious moments with Nora & Vee or even the strange things happening around Nora. I absolutely, positively devoured every page! Well as you can see, I’m Hush, Hush’s #1 fan!
I love everything about this book. I will definitely follow the doctor’s order and reread this book until I can get Patch out of my system, which may be never. So Help Me God! (less)

I was thoroughly entertained by the setting and characters that Lauren created in Fallen. If you go by the synopsis, readers wouldn’t know that there’s a love triangle in this book. I for one loved that there were two guys (sort of ) vying for Luce’s attentions.
LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLEEEEE!
In the right corner, we have Daniel – he’s mysterious, gorgeous with gray violet eyes, a rockin bod and mysteriously alluring. You know what they say, you’re attracted to the unattainable.
In the left corner, we have Cam – he’s charismatic plus he’s also tall, dark and sexy with these alluring green eyes.
Honestly, I found myself more drawn to Cam but at the same time I couldn’t help but wonder what was going on inside Daniel’s head. So, who wins round 1? I say it’s a draw – It’s rare in a love triangle that I don’t have a favorite but with Fallen, I’m intrigued by both Daniel and Cam. I guess I’ll have to wait and see what happens in round 2.
There were other interesting and exciting characters in this book that I enjoyed getting to know. I thought the secondary characters were well rounded and each character had important rolls centered around Luce in a major way. While I had no problems figuring out one angle in the story, Kate managed to keep me in the dark on a few others which I didn’t see coming. I loved the mystery behind Daniel and Luce’s relationship and the forbidden love twist kept me on edge while trying to figure out if love would prevail.
I know I can’t wait to see what Torment, the next book in the Fallen Series has in store for us. With the way certain events panned out in Fallen, I’m curious know more about the past events that happened in these characters lives. (less)

In this installment, Clare pulls the reader deeper into the inner workings of Shadowhunter politics as Tessa, Will, Jem, and friends try to hunt down the illusive Magister. This series is so addictive – you don’t want to put it down!
This book broke my heart. All of these characters are fighting or yearning for something. I got to know each and every one of these characters on a deeper level. Clare continues to keep up in suspense as far as Tessa’s origins. But, we do get some shockers as the twists continue to throw you for a loop. Let me state again how much I adore love triangles. CLOCKWORK PRINCE had me twisted up all inside as Tessa tried to understand her feelings for Will and Jem. It’s a good one – that’s all I’m going to say on that!
It’s amazing that Clare can continue to craft these amazing books filled with lovable characters and great story telling. It always comes down to that last chapter/page. I always dread turning to the last page of these books. I never know what to expect because surely the wait is mind-boggling. I’ve fallen in love with these characters and I can’t wait to continue their journey in the next installment.(less)

How do you keep the necessary balance between both? Jennifer Murgia’s ANGEL STAR took me on a journey of the choices we face and the importance of balance within our lives.
ANGEL STAR begins with Teagan McNeel. Used to being ostracized by others, Teagan is known as a freak at school. Then she meets Gareth Adams. From the moment Gareth – Swoon – stepped onto the scene, I found myself looking forward to their interactions with one another and the connection they shared. There’s nothing like new love blossoming in the air! And let us not forget the dark and provocative Hadrian. Hadrian’s dark nature offered the perfect contrast to the goodness radiating within Gareth, and his character was an important addition to the storyline.
When I first heard about ANGEL STAR, I knew I had to get my hands on a copy. After reading the book, I’m thrilled to say that it exceeded my already high expectations. Murgia’s writing captured my heart. I grew to care about these characters and found myself rooting for them all the way. Teagan’s quiet nature and insecurities drew me to her and that, combined with Murgia’s easy writing style made it easy to empathize with her. Teagan was open to the changes evolving around her. She definitely stepped outside of her comfort zone with Gareth and I enjoyed watching her character grow as the plot unfolded. I also loved that’s she didn’t take forever to accept the reality of the situation nor did she neglect the importance of her own role in events to come.
ANGEL STAR is a breathtakingly fresh debut novel with exciting characters that jump off the pages. It was a perfect blend of romance and mystery surrounding the battle of light and darkness within ourselves. Will the characters defeat the ominous forces threatening their lives? This had me frantically turning pages. And with that cliffhanger ending, I can tell you I’m waiting on pins and needles to see what happens next.
Readers looking for a mesmerizing love story will be sure to devour this novel.

UNEARTHLY was one of my favorite reads in 2011 and I was eagerly awaiting the next installment to uncover all the mysteries surrounding Clara and her purpose. This book did not disappoint!
In this installment we get bits and pieces of the significance of Clara's purpose while also discovering more about her kind. This book just so happened to be a tear jerker for me which was so unexpected. I had no idea how wrapped up I was with these characters and their lives. Cynthia Hand out did herself in this installment. I can't get enough of these characters!
Some things unfolded as I expected and some not so much. Let's just say I was particularly surprised with some of the revealed secrets throughout this book. The ending of this book wrapped things up nicely but leaves readers excited about what's to come in the next chapter in this series. I can't wait to delve back into their world!(less)

The whole concept behind the Need that consumes Charlotte’s life is quite literally breathtaking. I loved the premise – it’s different and not what I’m used to in regards to books dealing with angelic beings. In short, it’s refreshing!
One of the things that I loved about this book was Charlotte’s and Harlin’s relationship. Finally, I have a couple who already has an established relationship. I didn’t have to worry about if the relationship was rushed or unbelievable. Charlotte and her beau are perfect for each other. I loved their interactions with each other and I sympathized for these characters. They felt so authentic, which is why I couldn’t get enough of their story. The Need that encompasses Charlotte’s life is quite fascinating. I never knew what to expect when she was compelled by the Need. Every person’s life that Charlotte touched was one mystery right behind another. I was drawn to find out what would happen next when the Need arose.
With a story like Charlotte’s – one where the character is faced with hard decisions that will ultimately change your life forever, I always find myself wondering how the characters will fare in the end. After turning the last page, I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am at how things unfolded. A NEED SO BEAUTIFUL is another refreshing page turner. I’m looking forward to reading the next installment!(less)

Days of Blood and Starlight takes readers into the minds of multiple characters. This approach was totally unexpected but it hit the nail on the coffin. I was completely taken. In this highly anticipated sequel, no one is safe.
This series has some great characters and my heart went out to Karou and Akiva. They are still facing tough decisions when it comes to the war and their forbidden love. The stakes are high and deadly as ever. I was on pins and needles as I read this book. The writing is superb and the author has a gift for storytelling. She lures you into her world and keeps you turning the pages.
I would recommend this series to anyone who will listen. This series has become one of my favorites and I am looking forward to getting back into the world that Laini has created. It’s one that you'll have a hard time forgetting. Period. (less)

Well it doesn’t get any better for Billi when a war is brewing in her city. Billi may have to sacrifice her wants and needs for the greater good to save humanity from an Ancient who’s after one of the Order’s protected treasures and if unleashed will bring about the 10th plague…
Can Billi and fellow Knights Templar stop this powerful enemy and his ban of Unholy from unleashing this evil on London when death is only one knock at her door…?
Sarwat creates a dangerous world full mystifying characters with action-packed and adrenaline pumping scenes. With its sinister and tension filled plot, Devil’s Kiss kept me turning the pages. Devil’s Kiss is filled with rich biblical history and Sarwat did an amazing job linking the pieces to the story. The creatures in this book are sinister indeed with ghuls, devils, and dark angels providing Devil’s Kiss with notable foes for the Knights Templar to protect the world against.
Billi is this bad-ass heroine who knows what she wants and will stop at nothing to get it even if it could possibly lead to her death. I love the characters in Devil’s Kiss. Sarwat created some powerful and unforgettable characters and their struggles to do what’s right for the greater good left a lasting impression. Kaye was a welcomed surprise and I was in awe of him from the first time he was introduced. Arthur, Billi’s dad and master of the Templar Knights was something straight out of RAMBO except with a sword. I can only describe him with one word – "RUTHLESS." He’s the essence of what a leader has to deal with in the face of destruction especially when you have millions of lives at stake.
Sarwat’s Devil’s Kiss story line is PERFECTION! I was kept on the edge of my seat. It’s a thrilling and powerfully entertaining tale and I was extremely wrapped up in the chaos that surrounded Billi’s and the Templar’s lives right down to the very last page.
The Dark Goddess is the next installment in this series and I can’t wait to see what the Unholy unleashes next to grab hold of Billi’s and the Knights Templar’s attention…
If you’re a big fan of Supernatural & Buffy, I think you’ll enjoy the Devil’s Kiss!

I'm normally not crazy about overly descriptive writing as I tend to want my imagination to come up with my own picture of the settings/characters. Adornetto manages to do it effortlessly without bogging the reader down with too much sensory overload. I was able to get a feel for the bigger picture of what Bethany's experience entailed with going from a celestial being without having to deal with sensations to being able to handle the foreign experience of feelings and what not. So, Adornetto's writing style definitely fit with the whole arc of the story.
As for the characters in this mesmerizing tale of agents of light vs. agents of dark or angels just bringing about good in the world around them, the charters themselves were almost life like. With Bethany being the most human out of the three, she is easily relatable in that whole new girl in school vibe. Gabriel is fierce and protective, but all the more enjoyable for the role he plays as one of the oldest archangels. Then there's Ivy with her ethereal beauty and quiet presence that’s the glue that ties these three angels together. I can't forget to mention Xavier with his intense love and protectiveness for Bethany. Their attraction for one another was all consuming but quite enjoyable nonetheless. It was nice to see how Bethany's differences from the other angels played a role in how well she fit in with humans thus bringing her and Xavier together.
This book packs a lot of pages, mostly just scenes of the angels fitting in and trying to adjust to life around humans. The dark forces that encompassed this story wasn't really at the forefront of the story but I'm sure in the next installment, HADES, we'll get to see more of the Good vs. Evil story arc. Overall, I think HALO was a great start to a new and exciting series! (less)

When Katrina finally realizes that Malcolm is a real life angel, she also finds herself falling for him…

Coffeehouse was well written and kept my attention throughout. I love the plot and Selfors created a realistic world where the characters are relatable dealing with daily decisions about life choices and living life to the fullest. The secondary characters are some of my favorites especially Lars Larsen, who brought a lot of humor to this book. Coffeehouse Angel is a light and humorous read that will have readers laughing and rooting for Katrina every step of the way.
This is a great read and I had a hard time putting this book down. I will definitely be reading more of Selfors’s books.(less)

To be able to continue visiting the world that Cassandra Clare has created is a special treat indeed. The Infernal Devices brings to readers a new cast of characters plus a few old ones from TMI (The Mortal Instruments).
It was easy to delve back into the world of Nephilim and Downworlders. CLOCKWORK ANGEL takes readers to the setting of London as Tessa Gray enlists the help of Will, Jem, Charlotte, Henry & Jessie to aid her in her search for her missing brother. My favorite warlock (Magnus Bane) also makes an appearance. I love the London setting in this book. Clare’s descriptions of 1800’s London put me smack-dead in the scenery right alongside the characters. The London setting also gives the story a whole new, dark and edgy feel as the cast set out on their mission to uncover the mystery behind the Magister and The Pandemonium Club.
I can't say enough great things about the cast in this book. Tessa is a heroine that I've enjoyed getting to know. Jem is a sweetheart and Will is mysterious as ever. Of course, Will is my favorite! I love the whole misunderstood thing he has going on - reminds me a bit of Jace Wayland from TMI. What’s not to like about that? Clare continues to lure me into the world that she's created. With a beautiful setting, fascinating characters, and dangerous intrigue, who could ask for anything more? No complaints here.
I can't wait to see what CLOCKWORK PRINCE - the next installment in this awesome series has in store. I don't think I could ever get tired of Clare's world. It’s so great to immerse yourself into her magical world for a little escapism! (less)

With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadow-hunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he's willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City — whatever the cost?
Finally, it’s come down to the battle of the century, who’s going to be the victor (Shadow Hunters or Downworlders or maybe both). This was a fantastic ending to a great series. This book has everything humor, action, romance, suspense. We finally get our question answered: So is Clary and Jace really brother and sister? Well, let me just say “my my my” I won’t go into the details you will have to find out for yourself. Cassandra introduces us to a new character that goes by the name of Sebastian, well who is this mystery guy and could he be the link to all puzzles? Oh! I have to mention Alec and Magnus, and I have to say “I absolutely adore them”.
The writing and plot is exceptional. Cassandra Clare continues to surprise me with the plots and twist. I was so enthralled I had to know what’s going to happen and ended staying up in the wee hours of the night to finish the book. I’m sad to see that this is the last installment to the Mortal Instrument Series, but we have more to look forward to with the Infernal Devices Series next year. (less)

I was a little confused when I first started reading this because I had not read Prom Nights from Hell, but after I finally started to understand what was going on, the plot started to get interesting. I like that this book is different in that it’s about Light Reapers vs. Dark Reapers, so I liked the originality of the story and the world that Harrison created.
I wish that I could have connected more with the characters, but maybe in the next installment, Harrison will share more background info on some of the characters like Barnabus & the dark reapers because they were really interesting. I think that if Harrison had recapped more of the events from the short story, this would have helped me get a feel for some of the characters. One of my favorite characters in this book is Grace – Madison’s Guardian Angel, so I can’t wait to read more about her. Madison’s crush, Josh finally started to grow on me by the middle of the book, so I can’t wait to see what direction their relationship heads into.
Overall this is a good read, but make sure you read the short story first so you’re not confused like I was. This was a quick and fun read! Harrison’s world is fascinating and I hope the next book lives up to it. (less)

Angels and Reapers - sounds intriguing right? Well in the case of this exciting debut, ANGELFIRE delivers…
Ellie’s strange nightmares take on a life of their own when her seventeenth birthday hits. The reapers in this book are scary as hell and downright gruesome. When I read a supernatural book, I love it when the enemies are nothing like what I’ve read in the past. It’s always great to read something new, and ANGELFIRE definitely introduced me to some frightening creatures.
I enjoyed the premise of this book. Reading along as Ellie tried to navigate through a strange world where reapers prey on human souls. The fact that she’s been protecting humans for centuries but doesn’t remember this only intrigued me more. One of the caveats of this book was Will. He’s not only gorgeous but he’s also Ellie’s fierce protector too. I adored him and how he always had Ellie’s back. This book has plenty o f kick-ass action as we see Ellie and Will slice and dice their way through the reapers that are trying to devour Ellie.
Courtney’s writing and her world of reapers has set the stage for a captivating read. ANGELFIRE is a good debut and a great start to a series that I’m looking forward to reading more about. If you’re looking for a book with plenty of action, kick-ass characters and the creatures that make their lives a living hell, then this is the read for you. (less)

The Van Alen Legacy takes place a year after Revelations where Schuyler Van Allen and Oliver Hazard-Perry are on the run from the Conclave. A lot of things have changed within the year like Schuyler’s and Ollie’s relationship. Their friendship has grown into something more and I love how Ollie’s been there for Schuyler through the thick of it and he’s sacrificed so much for her and with that, he’s growing on me. It’s not all glamour for Mimi Force either, she’s joined the likes of Kingsley Martin (the Silver Blood who once tried to bring about her demise in Revelations) to uncover the truth behind the murders of the North America Conclave and the events surrounding the disappearance of Watcher, Jordan Llewellyn. We all got a shocker from Revelations that involved the one and only Miss Bliss Llewellyn and I enjoyed reading more about how deep the rabbit hole is with her and her Visitor.
Things take on interesting twists and turns in The Van Alen Legacy and I was so thrilled with the outcomes. I enjoyed reading from Schuyler’s, Mimi’s and Bliss’s viewpoints. But, I would have loved to read from Jack’s or Ollie’s viewpoint, but I guess that would have taken the mystery out of things. Melissa did a great job keeping me in suspense. I love reading about Schuyler’s growth and her abilities in this book and how she’s so much different now from the timid and unconfident girl that we were introduced to in Blue Bloods. Her powers are growing and she'll need all the help she can get if what the Legacy says holds true.
The Van Alen Legacy did not disappoint and I will be highly anticipating the next installment in this series. With the way this book ended, I see a lot of great things happening in the next installment. How can I not mention the uniqueness of this series? These vampires are so different from what I’m used to reading and I love the concept behind their origins. I can’t wait to see what De La Cruz has in store for us next.(less)
