Then decided that no; I would lose my just finished reading feelings on it. I love Jennifer Crusie by herself, I have deeply enjoyed everything that I have read by her so far, but I honestly feel that when Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer sit down together and write a book, that it's as if it was written by a pen tipped in gold. I guess their style just sets well with me. So I was greatly excited about this book because it had been a while since I had a book by them to read.
I wasn't expecting what I got though, and found it very hard at first to not compare it to the previous works of the Fantastic Duo (it's my name for them) but once I was able to get past the beginning strangeness and set aside my thoughts of how I thought it should be and wanted it to be. I fell in love with the story.
I was caught off guard by the main characters and liked that for a very large portion of the story you have no idea what's going to happen with them. I very much enjoyed Mab from the very beginning and Ethan grew on me as the story progressed. It's not that I didn't like his character because I did and found him very realistic and made me feel for him from the very beginning. He was just so gruff and the drinking even though I understood it may be kept him from being my favorite at first. All the secondary character as well was great to me. I think out of all of them I loved Oliver the most, then Mab, Ethan, and Weaver, and so on. There wasn't one character even the bad guys that I didn't like.
This was probably one of the funniest, even thought it had its moments where the story took a dark turn and was funny at all; books I have read this year. What with Mab's sarcastic remarks and Ethan's very little patience with women and their emotions. I truly found so many things great and enjoyable about this book. I hate that I went in not open minded about where the story would be taking me but am very grateful that I finally got my act together and found the greatness of this story. It will make you laugh, feel good, keep you on the edge of your seat, and leave you feeling very satisfied when you finish that last page.

But despite those times of boredom and the fact that I think the author used the words NAVY and SEAL so much that they could account for the last 10 pages alone, I liked this story. I liked how Ronnie saved the Prince, but got irritated that no one except for a phone call from Bill (the president) cared or thanked her. I would have liked to have seen Joe find out this news and or maybe his team so they knew she was kind of bad ass. I also really appreciated that Joe cried, because I don't care who you are or who much a man the guy is emotion when you are that hurt and have the ability to let it out will always win. The biggest reason I ended up liking this book was because of the ending. I wasn't typical, I mean okay in ways it was but in one big way for me it was different and refreshing. So despite the many reasons such as a little of cheesiness, some typical knew that was going to happen stuff, and the constant ridiculous use of the NAVY and or SEAL in various ways (we get it he's a NAVY SEAL) words. I will be reading the next book, and yes I have prepared myself for the NAVY SEAL attack. (less)

This was also my first attempt at Audio CD, I haven't listened to books on tape or CD since because I'm someone who know now that I like the words not just the story. But even with it being on Audio CD the characters and and the building of scenes and tensions between the characters were so well written I was still able to get lost in the story like I truly belong in it. Plus the H/H were smoking hot separate and together. I would recommend this book to anyone! (less)

I was so excited about this book, I know that Hot & Bothered wasn't that great but this one I had such high hopes for, and it fizzled out on me. I love Susan Andersen so I'm a little shocked as to how much this book disappointed me. It has nothing to do with writing itself but the story in a whole is just week. I mean there were so many crazy ways to work Jared and Priscilla but really a famous singer after the life she had. I just didn't feel it was believable, not that it couldn't happen because sure it could but I never ever got that vibe from Pj, and it bothered me so much that I think it altered my opinion of the book. I liked Jared well enough and I loved that he turned into the strong type but I still just feel they lost the spark I loved about them in Hot and Bothered. This one wasn't boring though so that's a plus. (less)
