I liked it somewhat, but it didn't hold me quite how I was hoping It would. It was kind of a bizarre read. For a huge portion of the book, it seemed more about the hero's past relationship with his dead ex than a romance with the heroine. I didn't really feel the chemistry between the two in the beginning. The hero's past whirlwind relationship kind of overshadowed their courtship. There was just too much information and discussion about it, that it didn't leave room for the reader to really get to see the leads fall in love in their own right. Also, I felt a little weirded out that the hero started this love affair with his 38 year old ex when he was only 16! I kind of felt that it was being glorified, and it creeped me out as I have a 15 year old son. He could have been at the least 18 and it would have still been a huge age difference. I just couldn't relate and frankly didn't want to.
There was also something about the heroine I didn't like. I can't really put my finger on it at the moment, I just didn't like her that much. There was just something missing from her to draw me in. Maybe one thing is that I felt like I didn't know that much about her to fall in love with her, not even how she LOOKED! The hero on the other hand was off the charts HOT! He made the book worth the read. I really enjoyed him as a hero. Except in the end when he got all phycologist on me. The big reveal and ending with the heroine walking away from what she herself wanted seemed a little unrealistic to me, but I'm sure some readers are crying over how nurturing the hero is. To each it's own I guess, but I was rolling my eyes at such an abrupt ultimatum to OPEN UP or else... Especially when he had his own issues! ...more

Which isn't bad of course, but the change came a lot quicker than I anticipated for such a hero. I also thought the heroine was sweet, funny, down to earth, and I really liked her and could relate to her stupid mistakes of falling back into bed with the hero even when he was a jerk. She was a little of a push over but I liked her nonetheless, but then she also changed, and she changed into someone I didn't like that much anymore. I get that she couldn't continue to let him walk all over her and she had to stand up for herself, but she lost some of my admiration with the tactics she used to get back at him.
I thought a lot of wrong things in the beginning of this book. One being that this was going to be a light hearted read, but boy was I wrong! This book was not a light hearted book by any means. It was an emotional and intense read that had me crying more than I did laughing, and while there is nothing wrong with a romance that brings a little of the real world into the pages, to me this one seemed a little harsh on my light hearted romance reading soul. I cannot say this was a bad book because it wasn't . The author really did a great job enlightening the reader on the conflicts that the hero and heroine faced. It's just that, it was not a fun book for me to read after a while. Many will love this book and to them it will garner 5 star reviews because I can see that potential, but for me personally, call me a wimp, but I didn't enjoy the kind of heartache that Ruthless Proposition bought into the story. 3.5 stars...more

I was not expecting an erotic romance when I was reading this, but then it became pretty clear that I was sure reading one! One that had substance and dept at that! Thank you SM for showing us how to write an erotic romance that actually has an interesting story that is plausible and put together well. Not just sex sex sex, but an actual tale that keeps you invested in the characters. I really enjoyed this book. It has a unique tone that other authors haven't explored yet. It was believable, angsty and well written. Everything I expect from a good romance. The scorching hot love scenes were a bonus.
I usually don't like over long reads. I get bored really fast but in this one I was actually hoping for a little more. I wanted more time to explore with the ex other woman whom Rafel was in love with in the beginning. She showed up pretty late in the book but since she was a big part of the story in theory I would have liked a little more example of Rafel getting over her. And geez, doesn't anyone get married anymore in contemporaries in the end?? I missed that. I wanted a proposal. The hea doesn't seem permanent without one. Call me old fashion!
I highly recommend this read anyway, especially to erotic romance lovers. There are quite a lot of sex scenes that might put some off who are not accustomed to that from SM....more

I probably wouldn't have given it a chance if I knew. They usually have too much sex and not enough romance for my taste these days. This book wasn't that bad though. It did have lots of sex scenes( skimmed quite a few) but the relationship between the hero and heroine is what intrigued me. It wasn't even the unique back story of Rachel being from a religious camp. I always feel uncomfortable reading books that seem to have a sacrilegious undertone and that's how it made me feel sorry to say, but it was an unusual story-line. I can see other readers appreciating it for that purpose, but what I really appreciated was the fact that it took time for the hero and heroine to fall in love with each other and you got to see them grow from being each other booty calls to actually falling in love. This erotica surprisingly had substance and depth. The back story of Rachel just wasn't my cuppa. ...more
