I read this book years ago when it first came out in 2006, and I hadn't read it since, but it remained on my keeper shelf (for good reason). When I received a Kindle Fire for Xmas by my boyfriend, this was one of the first books I downloaded.
Reading King of the Unblessed is a delight! I especially love the references to the movie Labyrinth (though Merrick is a FAR sexier "goblin king" than David Bowie - which is a feat in itself...And Juliana has a lot more spunk than Sara). Ms Pillow weaves fantastic story filled with love, magic, good and evil...everything a reader could possible want in an historical / fantasy romance. I highly recommend King of the Unblessed and look forward to reading the second book in the Realm Immortal series, The Faery Queen. ;-)...more

Sitting in the hall with rope tied about her neck and forced at the feet of her captor, she watches helplessly as the Normans ransack her home and abuse her mother. But she will have her revenge—no Norman will ever conquer her, nor will she ever give up the only home she has ever known.
Born as a bastard and scorned by his mother, Wulfgar has come to hate women. Though dispised because of his birth, he is fair and just with all whom he meets. When he arrives at Darkenwald to discover the knight he sent, Ragnar, to secure the town has killed the old lord and most of his serfs, Wulfgar becomes furious and suspicious. But when he espies the courageous Aislinn struggling to bury her father—he wants her. Never has he met a more beautiful or bold wench with such a stout heart—and he will tame her by every gentle and seductive means necessary.
Aislinn shall never willingly submit to any Norman—her hatred for them knows no bounds—until she meets the handsome and formidable Wulfgar, who challenges her at every turn. Despite the fact he is a bastard and a Norman, he seems unusually honest and is more handsome than any man has a right to be. Why does his kiss make her insides quiver? Why does he prefer to chain her to the foot of the bed instead of raping her as Ragnar has done? He is kind and fair, but his justice is swift and terrible. How is she to resist this man who asks nothing of her, but seduces her into offering everything? Why is his heart so hard where women are concerned, yet his touch so gentle?
Wulfgar has always been able to love a woman and leave her without nary a thought to cloud his mind. Yet, when William the Conquer demands his presence in London for his coronation, it is Aislinn who haunts his every thought—the softness of her fiery hair, her womanly fragrance, the passion in her touch, the feel of her in his arms. The vixen must have bewitched him—it can be the only explination, for Wulfgar must have her at his side, no matter the cost.
Shocked by Wulfgar’s summons, Aislinn is only too eager to join her Norman knight in London. But how can she give herself to a man who will never wed her, who holds only pain and hatred for women in his heart? How can she ever turn his mind to the tenderness she would give, nay the love which has grown inside her? He told her no woman had ever tarried in his mind, yet he called for her. He swore never to waist his hard earned monies on a female, yet he lavishes her with gifts. But he refuses to give her the one thing she so desperately yearns for—his love. Will she ever soften this hardened warrior’s heart? Can she ever make him acknowledge the love burning within herself? Or will the enemies plotting against them succeed in ripping them apart and destroying them forever?
The Wolf and the Dove by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss is a classic epic tale of love, passion, and revenge. The historical detail beautifully enhances this sweeping story and pulls the reader into the turbulent time of the Norman Conquest. Aislinn and Wulfgar are such deep and complex you can’t help but yearn for the gentle dove to tame the wild wolf and show him the power of love. This novel has been on my keeper shelf for many years now, and after re-reading it, I have to say it is no wonder Kathleen Woodiwiss inspired a genre which has taken the world by storm. With elegant prose, deeply emotional characters, and exciting settings, Ms. Woodiwiss was a master of her craft. Whether a novice to the genre or an old fan, I highly recommend you read (or re-read as the case may be) The Wolf and the Dove and be prepared to be swept away into a world long past... ...more

Which is precisely why she doesn’t believe for a moment Portia’s claim that their middling sister, beautiful Vivienne, is marrying a vampire. No matter what rumours are flying around the ton, for it could very well be Vivienne’s marriage which saves their little family.
For the past eight years, since their parents’ death, they have been living off the meagre generosity of their toad of a cousin Cecil, with a mere pittance for an allowance. Though Caroline has stepped into the role of mother and father, putting her firmly on the shelf, Cecil has been threatening of late that his ‘generosity’ will not continue unless she is willing to pay the ‘price’. Caro is delighted when she and Portia are invited to stay with their Aunt in London to witness the progression of Vivienne’s world-wind courtship. That is until she meets the darkly seductive and mysterious Viscount Trevelyan herself.
Adrian Kane, Viscount Trevelyan lives in a dark and perilous world, where sunlight could be the death of you, danger lurks around every corner, and where the hunter can become the hunted at a moments notice. Which is precisely why he does not have room for a woman in his life, let alone a wife, but that is before he sees the lovely, spirited and forthright Caroline Cabot. A sensuous beauty with soft grey eyes, hair the colour of moonlight and more alluring then any woman he has ever known. And then in a moment of desperation, he learns how truly passionate and irresistible she is when they kiss on the Lover’s Walk at the pleasure gardens of Vauxhall. Despite his determination to remain unaffected, Adrian will never be the same again.
Caroline is shocked, not only by the dark, alluring charms of Adrian Kane, but of her own fierce attraction to the man. And there just might be some credence to the rumours when Constable Larkin, once friend to Kane, pulls her aside to warn her the handsome viscount might be responsible for the mysterious disappearances at Charing Cross. Determined to discover the truth for herself, to be sure her sister is not being courted by a monster, she decides to follow Kane one moonlit night into the pleasure gardens at Vauxhall, only to discover that it is she who is endanger of succumbing to Adrian’s seductive charm and passionate kisses. Though she has never felt such passion and pleasure in a man’s arms, she could not possibly steal Vivienne’s suitor, could she?
Adrian knows he is playing a dangerous game when he allows the Cabot sisters to join him at his estate for a grand Masquerade Ball. For though it is Vivienne he’s ‘courting’, it is Caroline whom he finds irresistible. And what the sisters and the ton don’t know is that he never planned to wed Vivienne, but instead intends upon using her for his insidious plans.
After Midnight is a sensuous vampire romance to die for! Once again Teresa Medeiros proves she is a master of the genre. Adrian Kane is perfect as the brooding, and mysterious Viscount Trevelyan who seduces Caroline with his charm and dark seductive powers. And Caroline is wonderful as the spirited innocent, who discovers just how wanton she can be the arms of the man she loves. If you like your romance darkly sensual and enticingly mysterious then you have got to read After Midnight!...more

Which would probably explain how she got the nickname: the Hereford Hellion. Of course, it could have nothing to do with the fact she let loose a pony in a teacher's room, or the multitude of other pranks she pulled as a child. No, it just seems Lottie has always had a knack for getting herself into a heap of trouble, which would probably explain why she is finally having her coming out ball at the age of twenty-one. And it was that insatiable curiosity which prompted her to climb out of her bedroom window in a full ball gown, ripping the bodice in the process, to heave herself over the wall of the neighbouring townhouse. For it had been heralded in the scandal sheets that the Murderous Marquis had returned to London. And though there is not a light on, not a sign of movement next door, Lottie just had to find out if the floating candle flame was ghost or something very real.
Hayden St. Clair, the Marquis of Oakleigh had made a terrible mistake: he had come to London. What he had come looking for, he was never going to find, not with the reporters of the scandal sheets dogging his every step and the newspapers blaring his every move to a public hungry for anything to do with the Murderous Marquis. No, he had been a complete fool to come. But he had been desperate to find a woman who could satisfy his needs. Sitting in the dark, Hayden is appalled when he discovers one of those bloody reporters lurking around his window. Intending to give the bugger a little surprise, he hauls her through the window, only to discover she's the most exquisite little baggage he has gazed upon in a very long time arousing desires in him too long denied.
Lottie is thoroughly ruined. Never in her wildest dreams did she think her coming out would end so dramatically, nor that her life would be over from a kiss. But of course, it could have been the fact she was standing in front of the open window in the arms of the marquis, her bodice torn and exposed, her arms wrapped around him as if she never wanted to let go. Kissing as though her world was on fire, only to be caught by her brother-in-law and guardian: the Duke of Devonbrooke. Now to save her brother-in-law from dying in a duel with the marquis, she does the unthinkable, and pleads St. Clair to marry her.
Horror of horrors, Hayden suddenly finds himself married, breaking a promise he had vowed years before after the terrible death of his first wife. But this time it will be different, for though he finds Lottie to be an exquisitely lush woman, it will be a marriage in name only, or so he keeps telling himself. But even haunted by the ghost of his first wife, and the dark secrets which encompass his past, his new wife occupies his every waking thought, and then there's the dreams which torment him.
Strangely enough, the more Lottie spends around her husband more she realizes what a truly lonely and tormented man he is, awakening something inside of her she thought never to feel for the Murderous Marquis. More and more she suspects his first wife's death is not all as it seems. But can she unlock the secrets of his past, freeing his heart with the glory of love? Or is she destined to haunt Oakleigh Manor with all the other ghosts?
Once again, Teresa Medeiros had created a masterpiece! There is never been a book of her's I didn't love. She has an amazing ability to create rich complex characters, and stories that are not only filled with romance and passion, but wit and humour, adventure and intrigue. One Night of Scandal belongs on the keeper shelf along with all her others. ...more

BoTabitha Lennox, girl genius, has no time for love, and certainly doesn't believe in fairytales, happy endings or magic. Even though she is a witch. Born to a handsome and genius billionaire of a father, and a beautiful witch for a mother, Tabitha wanted nothing more than to be an ordinary girl, with no powers to speak of. But it was those very powers that made her extraordinary, and her life one disaster after another, until she learned never to voice her longings or her wishes ever again. Preferring the cold logic of computer science, she graduated from MIT at the age of twenty and became head of Lennox Enterprises Virtual Reality Division, three years later. Thinking that her life is complete, knowing that no man would want a woman such as her.
Tabitha's life is turned upside down when she discovers an amulet her mother has kept hidden all these years. She is suddenly transported seven hundred years into the past, only to be dumped at the feet of an escaping knight in shining armour.
Sir Colin of Ravenshaw had only just returned from the Crusades to find his castle obliterated, his family dead, half his clan slaughtered, before being captured by his greatest enemy. Just barely escaping the dungeons with his life, he gallops into a meadow, to practically trample the oddest yet intriguing female he has ever seen. With her shortly cropped hair, her strange mannerisms and lithe form, Colin suddenly finds himself in a grips of such powerful need, that it almost breaks his iron will. After another harrowing escape from the dungeons with the strange but lovely Tabitha in tow, he takes her to Scotland and his people where he dares to claim her as his woman.
Tabitha desperately tries to stave off the rising passion and love she feels for the lowland laird. Fearing that loosing her heart in this primitive time would be far worse than never finding her way back home. But what will happen when Colin finally discovers that she is a witch? For witches at this time are burned at the stake. Will her love for this fearless knight transcend time and superstition? Will they survive the onslaught of danger from the enemies closing in to strike? Or will Tabitha lose everything, after finally accepting who and what she really is, only to be burned at the stake by the man of her heart.

Billy Darling: the youngest brother of the Darling Gang and a wanted man. Esmerelda had memorized every black and white detail of his wanted poster, prepared to kill the bastard first and ask questions later. But when she marched into the only saloon in the one horse town, she never expected she would met eye to eye with a gunslinging legend nor that his wanted poster had done him a grave injustice.
Never had she met such a dangerously handsome man with glittering grey-green eyes, nor a man who's skill with a gun was such that she never even saw him draw his Colt .45. Even more alarming was his sensual southern drawl, and the claim that he had never heard of Bartholomew Fine III. Now sitting in a jail cell, Esmeralda wonders what is more grievous: having shot at a man who many not have killed her brother, or finding herself inexplicably attracted to a dangerous outlaw.
Billy Darling may have had the name, but he had nothing to do with his older brothers and the Darling Gang. In fact, he had always longed to be apart of the right side of the law. Now U.S. marshal Winstead has hired him to find Bartholomew Fine and in return, he will carry a badge of his own. Torn between his unreasonable attraction to pretty yet prickly Miss Fine, and the U.S. marshal that could fulfill his life long dream, he heads out with Esmeralda in search of her brother turned outlaw. But will Esmeralda's passion and love be enough to keep Billy Darling from taking in her brother, or will she loose everything: Bartholomew and the gunslinger of her dreams?

Sir Gareth is dark, brooding, and tortured by the fact he killed his beautiful and alluring stepmother. Or did he? Everyone seems to think so, including the women who want to spend the night in his bed because of his dark and dangerous reputation.
When Gareth wins Lady Rowena in a dice game with her father, even the few friends he has left begin to doubt him. For Gareth has plans...he intends to use Rowena in destroying her father, the man truly responsible for the downfall of his family.
But there are some things Gareth didn't count on. Like Rowena's beauty, charm, strength and spirit. And the very fact he finds her irresistible. Sometimes, even the best laid plans of revenge can be thwarted by love...
From the moment I read this book, I LOVED it! Sir Gareth is such a tortured soul in desperate need of rescuing, and Rowena's innocence and spirit is just what he needs. I love the how Gareth fights not only his attraction to her (though part of his plan is to ruin her) but also the deep emotion which he fights tooth and nail. And the ending...is totally shocking. Not your usual Romance....more
