There is HAWT guyI don't know what it is about this series, but I love it. I know there are many that dislike the entire series. I just don't get it. There is HAWT guys (although most of them are aliens), non-stop action, crazy/humorous antics, then by the end of the book Kitty has saved the day (again) by doing something so outrageous that it borders on the insane. The entire plot is so crazy and fun that I can't help but be entertained. The characters are so full of life and individualistic that it is easy to picture them in my mind. Of course if you are looking for more serious sci-fiction, then this series most definitely is not for you. ...more

I fell in love with the two main characters and had an easy time imagining exactly what they looked like, talked like, and acted like. Not an easy feat for any author, yet Linda Mooney did an excellent job (especially when one of the characters is an alien with horns). The plot is a bit on the far fetched side (okay... it is REALLY out there), but it IS fantasy/science fiction, and it certainly didn't detour me from thoroughly enjoying the book. I sincerely hope that the author considers making this book into a series. I definitely would read it.
Linda Mooney is a new author to me and am pleased to have found an author who's writing style I enjoy so much. I will most certainly be keeping an eye on any new books she releases.

I am not sure how she does it, but she manages to suck you into the world she has created in her books. You are there and everything is so vivid and real. Ms. Kagawa is a true and fabulously talented storyteller -- not just an author -- and there is a difference. She has talent that is not often seen in authors. Her ability to create worlds so unlike our own -- yet so real -- is a gift beyond measure, and I am thankful that such talent exists. Julie Kagawa is so exceptionally talented. I can't really even put it into words.
The Immortal Rules, the first book in a new series called "Blood of Eden" was an excellent read. I read it in one sitting. At times I laughed and at times I cried. So many emotions from one book. One AMAZING book.
The only reason I did not give this book five stars is that it started out a bit slow. I know it is VERY difficult to create a "world" in a new series and not have it be a bit repetitive and and sometimes long-winded (and thus boring). Actually, I am not sure that many authors are able to do it -- probably only a handful. Karen Moning did an excellent job in her world building in the first Fever book -- but than again that world was not so different from our own. Julie Kagawa creates worlds that you couldn't have thought of on your own -- her imagination is so vivid and unconstrained that it is frankly a bit scary. Similar in a way to Stephen King... you wonder how the heck she can come up with these ideas. Ms. Kagawa did a VERY good job at the world building in The Immortal Rules, but not an exceptional job. A times I was a bit bored and wanted the action/story to start. She did succeed in setting up a world that will easily carry on into the next book(s) in the series. I imagine she can get quite a few books out of this "world," and keep the series a bit longer than some of her others.
This is a fabulous book and I highly recommend it. :) ...more
If you had asked me a year ago if I liked Science Fiction I would have given you a strange look and told you of course not. I have most definit4 Stars
If you had asked me a year ago if I liked Science Fiction I would have given you a strange look and told you of course not. I have most definitely changed my mind. It is one of my favorite genres now. Specifically Science Fiction/Romance.
Unearthed by C.J. Barry drew me in from the very first chapter and I didn't put it down until I finished it. This story is a more "believable" science fiction since the inhabitants of the planets outside of earth are mostly humanoid. I found it highly entertaining that the people of Earth had no idea of inhabited planets outside of their own. Maybe I ought to start reading those "an alien abducted me" blogs. You never know... there may be some truth in it (or not).
What a great start to a fabulous series. I am looking forward to reading the remaining books in Ms. Barry's series. ...more
