I kept on guessing on WHO was that person who spied on Emily when she received the first missive, and I was happy to find out that the person I concluded to be the person who spied on her was indeed the person the author put there to watch her.(less)

It took me a while to finish reading it, but the pacing was good and the characters were all well written; even the background story for some of the characters involved was well written. I enjoyed the "uprising" of the servants and how Caitlyn became the champion and poor Alexander was left with overly starched clothing and burnt garments.(less)

Both are very stubborn and very much in to protecting their family. It was because of this trait that their paths crossed and they ended up married. It was a fun read, especially when Triona was trying to win three "brats's" affection even though she was told to keep her distance from them. I've read the other books in the series and I have to admit, next to How to Abduct a Highland Lord, this has got to be a fave of mine. Can't wait to read about Alexander and Caitlyn's story (which is what I'm reading right now, hehehe).(less)

And I even stayed up late coz I didn't want to put the book down until I finished it. Of course I am already familiar with Lady Danbury since I've read about her while reading the Bridgerton series (another awesome set of novels from Julia Quinn).
Anyway, the rapport between James & Elizabeth was smoothly established. And for the first time it was nice to read about a not-so-perfect heroine. A klutzy BUT witty heroine was what made Elizabeth unique in James' eyes. As always I loved the feel of having a somewhat big and meddlesome family; it keeps everyone on their toes AND it's just fun to have a sibling or two to argue with.(less)

And now more than ever I wanted to read Leo & Catherine's story. A few revelations were shed some light in this series and only makes reading about the next two stories in the series even more exciting! As usual the Hathaways' eccentric upbringing and close familial bond was read and felt throughout the entire book; I would've been disappointed if that went missing. It was one of the unique things about this series that captured my interest and made me fall in love with each and every character.(less)

"Cousin Michael" was one of my many guesses & I sure as heck wasn't disappointed when he was finally revealed. Charlotte & him had great rapport and given the history they had...it was just a fun read. Now makes me wonder what will happen to the other supporting characters Miss Jeffries mentioned. Will they be featured in other books? I wonder...(less)

At first I thought I'd get bored with the storyline, but this is the first time I came across reading a historical romance novel with a popular magician as the hero. Diego & Lucy sure are meant for each other. They are both stubborn in their own ways and passionate too. There was never a dull moment between the two of them.(less)

Regardless, the secondary characters were awesome and I kinda knew who Robert Hadley (Bella's brother) would end up long before she came in to the picture. It was a cute, romantic scene between Robert and his ladylove, Liza, and the way they bickered was just a prelude to their bubbling (IMO) feelings for one another. Suffice to say, Lucien and Bella's story were also cute and romantic; when Lucien was wooing Bella back and him actually taking on manual labour for the sake of proving to her that his title don't mean much and he can still lend a hand when needed was just nice. The aunts were crazy as well. Very meddlesome, but then again they wanted to marry-off their niece, but at the same time they were adorable and was only after what was best for their family. But it was a happy ending overall for everybody.(less)
