StevieI have a weakness for a good old-fashioned ghost story and I was happy to discover Swann’s Stevie-girl and the Phantom of Crybaby Bridge story. Stevie-girl and her best friend, Jase, are phantom magnets. This story takes place on a summer camping trip to New Mexico during the 1960s. Almost immediately, the two friends visit the legendary Crybaby Bridge and quickly the mystery begins.
This books has charm, entertainment, heightened mystery, and of course a good ghost story. I really loved this book. It was reminiscent of some of my favorite Nancy Drew books growing up and I immediately loaded my Kindle with all of the books in the Phantom Series. The plot was well developed and it moved at a fast pace only giving the reader a moment or two to catch your breath. The storyline made you involved in the character’s life whether it was their previous experiences or what they had to face in the moment. Swann’s writing style is smooth and effortless, it makes a perfect read for teens as well as adults. I highly recommend for an afternoon or weekend ghost story read. ...more

I held my breath wondering how it would end and what would be the justice for Christina with her cheating husband. Pearls of Deception evokes the entire thriller senses for a great short read. It's well written with crisp, believable dialogue and a wonderful twist ending. I'm off to read another one of Arnold's thrillers. ...more

I jumped at the chance to read this book. Ghosts of Mayflower takes us into the firsthand experiences of the author’s time as an Halloween attraction orderly for the Mayflower Building at Pennhurst Asylum, located in Spring City, Pennsylvania. This is the same haunted location that The Ghosthunters filmed their 2011 Halloween special. For good reason, the paranormal experiences are frequent and quite impressive.
I enjoyed the way the author presented this book over a couple of months and documented the shift days, personal experiences, candid conversations, people who work at the now Pennhurst Halloween attraction, tons of guests, and of course ghostly apparitions along with a some things that go bump in the night. I won’t give away any spoilers because it’s such a fun ghost story read. If I had any complaints, it would be that I wanted to learn more about the history of the location, but that in no way takes away from the book.
This is a great, short read. You could read a chapter or two at a time, or devour the entire book on a stormy Saturday afternoon like I did. Highly recommend. ...more

This book had it all. So what do you get when you mix an Iraq War veteran Annie Ogden who has spent three tormented months living in a cabin alone trying to re-discover her purpose in life with Max Vinyl's entrepreneurial and somewhat sketchy computer recycling racket? You get one heck of a story that’s for sure!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The storyline was original and plotted well to keep the suspense building to the final scene. I loved all of the diverse characters; some were so inventive and quirky that I laughed quite a few times during the story. I enjoyed the interesting premise about computer recycling and learned some things I did not know. I love that aspect! Brook’s writing style is smooth and easy to read, which makes it irresistible to read the entire book in a couple of sittings. I highly recommend and I look forward to more books from this author. ...more

Bidinotto has honed his craft as a crime writer, but clearly can incorporate everything that a good novel needs and what readers hunger for in a satisfying read. Hunter is categorized as a “thriller”, but undoubtedly has a suspense, romance, drama, spy thriller, and a police procedural feel to it.
There are many characters in the book and each has helped to add even more depth to the story. It ratchets up the suspense and propels the reader into caring about certain characters and even wishing the bad ones to get what they deserve. The ease of Bidinotto’s writing style makes it a delight to read – smooth descriptions and concise dialogue.
The only aspect that stopped me a couple of times to retrace my reading was that the chapters literally throw you into the next scene with little or no setup. It’s a personal preference to me, but it didn’t slow the pacing or enjoyment of the narrative in the least.
This book is ultimately an all around thriller with some rough language, violence and adult themes. Hunter is perfect for mystery, suspense, and thriller readers. I highly recommend this novel and hope there will be more books from this author. ...more
